schoolgirls for missing pocket money

At least 16 schoolgirls were made to strip naked by their teachers in Jharkhand after one student complained she had lost her pocket money, police said on Tuesday.
Officials said the girls in Jharkhand were taken to a room and strip-searched one by one at the weekend, while teachers looked for the missing money, which was a little over a dollar, Ratan Kumar, a senior police officer said from Dhanbad, a mining town in Jharkhand on Tuesday.

"The order to strip and search the girls was not fair," Kumar said by telephone.

Many students were crying and begged for mercy, police said.

On Tuesday, hundreds of people demonstrated in front of the school and students boycotted classes demanding immediate action.

Five teachers and the school principal have gone on leave, police said.

Although banned, corporal punishment is widely used to discipline children in Indian schools.

Last September, a seven-year-old girl was made to strip naked and stand on her desk by her teacher in a New Delhi school for not completing her homework, while other students were asked to boo her.

Last year, a government study backed by the United Nations Children's Fund said two-thirds of children in India are physically abused, mostly at home and in schools.

http://in.news.yahoo.com/reuters_ids_new/20080429/r_t_rtrs_nl_general/tnl-teachers-strip-schoolgirls-for-missi-223dd93.html

<div Sex.

There may be a lot of questions that come up in your mind when you’re thinking about being sexually active for the first time. It’s not always easy to find the answers you need. Here are some common myths that people may believe about first time sex - and the facts!:

MYTH: You can’t get pregnant or a sexually transmitted infections the first time.

FACT: Yes you can! When thinking about being sexually active, you need to consider protecting yourself against pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections by practising safer sex by using protection - this will not necessarily make sex less enjoyable. The important thing is to be safe.

MYTH: First time sex will hurt.

FACT: For some people, first time sex can be pleasurable, comfortable, and fun. For some people, first time sex does feel uncomfortable - it could even hurt. Pain during sex could mean you don’t have enough lubrication or need to try a different position. It could also mean your partner is going too fast or using too much pressure or that you are nervous. It could be a combination of all of these. If it is hurting, stop and talk to your partner. Try some more lubrication or a different position or ask your partner to go slower. If it is hurting too much, then stop because it shouldn’t be too painful. It’s important to talk to your partner about these issues and work out ways to make sex more comfortable.

Sometimes for first time sex, for girls, there might be some bleeding, this should not last long. If pain or bleeding continues, it’s important to talk to a health practitioner.

MYTH: The first time will be perfect.

FACT: TV and movies often glamorise the first time, which may give unrealistic expectations about what it’s really like. It’s OK if the first time is not perfect. It’s not uncommon to feel awkward or self-conscious about your body or sex. And sometimes unexpected things happen when having first time sex, so it’s good to feel comfortable enough to talk about it.

What Happens After I Have Sex?
After you have sex, especially if it’s your first time, you might experience a whole lot of emotional stuff - some good emotions, some confusing. For example, some people might feel worried or guilty, or sex might enhance your feelings of affection for the other person. If you are having trouble dealing with these issues yourself, you may want to talk with your partner, or with other people you can trust, such as friends, family members or a counsellor.

http://latest-news-portal.blogspot.com/2008/04/some-facts-about-first-time-sex.html

India: 2nd largest wireless hub in the world

India has surpassed the US to have the world's second largest wireless network in the world after China with the addition of 10.16 million wireless subscribers at the end of March.
The total number of wireless subscribers stood at 261.09 million at the end of March, telecom regulator Trai said in a statement. Cereal grains, peas, beans, and lentils are a so a source of protein as are the ingredient of foods like cakes.
Red meat is also one of the major causes, not just because of how it reacts in your mouth but because it is so hard to break down and digest. As the stomach acids interact with the red meat, this can cause foul odors to regurgitate back into your throat and cause bad breath.

2. Garlic, onions and exotic spices (such as curry) are common sources of problems for many people. As these foods are digested, certain compounds are transmitted from the blood through the lungs and exhaled for up to 24 hours.

3. Dairy Foods such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, ice cream etc are terrible for your breath. For the majority of the population, the proteins found in dairy foods cannot be broken down because of a lack of a specific enzyme (lactose). The fat content does not matter, it’s the protein content that counts. Skim milk is just as bad as cream. This condition is known as Lactose Intolerance. The problem is that these bad breath bacteria can break down the dairy proteins (which are full of Sulphur) to produce odours and bad tastes.

4. Chewing gum and mint with sugar and then anaerobic bacteria break them down they produce Volatile Sulfur Compounds or bad breath.

5. Sugary foods are a problem because all bacteria thrive in a sugar environment. Sugar provides an excellent fuel for their growth. If you need to use mints and candies, make sure they are sugarless. Do not be fooled by the false sense of minty taste. Taste is merely one of our five senses. You can have a great taste in your mouth, but the fumes you are exhaling can be an offensive smell to someone else.
Stay away from candies, mints, and chewing gum if they contain sugar!

6. Alcohol: Regardless of whether it is contained in an alcoholic beverage or a mouthwash, alcohol is a desiccant or drying agent. A dry mouth provides an excellent breeding ground for the anaerobic bacteria which cause bad breath.

7. Coffee: If you have to drink it, drink it in moderate amounts only. Coffee contains acids which cause anaerobic bacteria to reproduce more quickly. It does not matter whether you drink regular or decaffeinated coffee. Both contain high levels of acid.

And:
Don’t smoke: Not only does it make you and your breath stink right from the start, it also dries your mouth, contributing to accelerated anaerobic bacteria reproduction and bad breath. If you really want to prevent bad breath, you will not smoke.

http://www.egodevelopment.com/7-halitosis-foods-that-cause-bad-breath/

http://www.winfuture.de/news,38792.html

Fruitful creations (Pics)

Some amazing fruitful creations…..a must see for all
The question is, how can you assert your own rights without creating an unnecessary incident?
In most cases, angry people are screaming to be heard. They want to be valued, loved, and listened to. They want to feel important but aren’t able to express themselves constructively. With the right attitude, it’s possible to get past these insecurities and reach an understanding.

These 7 strategies will help you setting disputes quickly and peacefully for the benefit of everyone involved:

1. Remain calm. Be still and say nothing. Let the storm run its course. Often times the angry person wants to provoke you. Arguing is ineffective because it raises barriers. Consider how I handled the barber situation.

2. Let the other person do the talking. He or she will soon grow tired of it. Sometimes that’s all they want. To be heard. To feel important. Everyone wants to feel important. Some people just express it in ways that are counterproductive.

3. Genuinely consider the other person’s point of view. Imagine yourself in his shoes. Never say “you’re wrong.” In fact, try hard to look for areas of agreement and build on them.

4. There’s power in the words “Yes, yes, I see exactly what you’re saying. You mean…….” This shows the other person you hear him/her. That’s all they usually want — to be validated. By agreeing with them, you gradually break down the other person’s anger.

5. If the situation turns verbally abusive, put a stop to it. Firmly but calmly state: “You’re very angry right now and you’re saying things you don’t mean (give them the benefit of the doubt). I’m going to excuse myself. We can talk again after you calm down.” Then leave the room or ask them to leave.

6. If you are wrong, quickly admit it and take responsibility. You could say, “You’re absolutely right, it is my fault and here is what I’ll do to fix it.” Even if you’re NOT wrong, at least give them the benefit of the doubt, “I may be wrong, let’s look at the facts together.” It’s hard to argue with that!

These words have tremendous power. Not only does it validate the other person’s viewpoint but it also diffuses the tension. You might be surprised by what happens afterwards. The person could end up defending you. You’d be amazed how an attacker suddenly becomes an ally.
7. Use the power of visualization. If you’re dealing with someone you interact with on a daily basis (like a boss or co-worker), try to imagine that person as a loving spiritual being.

http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/resolving-conflicts-quickly-and-peacefully/

The Sexiest and Funniest Clothing Ever

It’s not about the number of words you read, but the amount of value you extract from them. The key to improved reading comprehension isn’t moving your eyes across a page more quickly. It’s about creating a mental framework that helps you process words and ideas.

With a bit of practice, anyone can read faster and more productively. The steps outlined below will help you to extract the maximum amount of information in the least amount of time.

The pre-reading survey

Nearly all speed reading courses recommend doing a pre-reading survey. The purpose is to gain a better understanding of the content and structure of the material. You’d be amazed how often people read through an entire book, only to realize that the information they need isn’t there. Pre-reading will make your reading more efficient by creating a mental map.

Start by reading the table of contents and the first page of the introduction. Then flip quickly through the material, reading only chapter titles, headings, and bold face print. Don’t worry about remembering anything specific, it’s more important to get a general impression.

The entire process should take less than 5 minutes. Afterwards you’ll know the layout of the book and the location of different topics. If you’re only interested in one particular section, you now know where to find it.

Define your purpose

Now that you have a general grasp of the material, you need to define a purpose. What information are you hoping to gain? This sounds like a simple question, but sometimes it isn’t. Different readers can have drastically different objectives. If you don’t define a purpose, it’s likely you’ll get bogged down by unimportant sections or ignore crucial ones. By clarifying what you need to know, you’ll be able to distinguish the important from the irrelevant and allocate your attention accordingly.

Create questions the reading should answer

In addition to a general purpose, it’s also helpful to write down specific questions. This focuses your mind on a set of objectives and gives you a way to measure comprehension. By writing down questions, you create a set of mental cues. Whenever you spot an important keyword in the text, you’ll become aware of the question it relates to and your mind will start looking for an answer.

Take notes or highlight important concepts

One of the best ways to embed something in your memory is to write it down. When you read an important point, make a note of it on a separate piece of paper, inside the margin, or use a highlighter. This will help you remember what you read and make the important sections easy to find when you review the text.

The post-reading review

After you finish reading, you need to determine what you learned. Did you achieve your purpose? Try to answer the questions you created beforehand. If you aren’t able to answer them, go back and look for answers near your notes. This process will solidify the knowledge in your mind and give you better recall. You’ll know what you learned, what you didn’t, and whether or not you need to go deeper into the text or look for other sources.

http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/improve-reading-comprehension/

Indians trust 'word-of-mouth' advertising most powerful tool

A study has indicated that 87 per cent Indians trust recommendations from others over any other kind of advertising, making 'Word-of-Mouth' advertising the most powerful tool.

According to the recent global Nielsen Internet survey, India ranks fourth among the top ten countries globally which trusts recommendations from consumers. Hong Kong leads the list with 93 per cent. Seven of the top ten markets that rely most on 'recommendations from consumers' are in Asia.

Conducted twice-a-year among 26,486 internet users in 47 markets from Europe, Asia Pacific, the Americas and West Asia, Nielsen most recently surveyed consumers on their attitudes towards 13 types of advertising -- from conventional newspapers and television ads to branded web sites and consumer-generated content.

Newspapers came in second (77 per cent) on the list of advertising media that Indian consumers trust the most. However, consumer opinions posted online and brand websites came a little ahead of television advertising with 73 and 72 per cent respectively. Television came in at number five with 65 per cent of Indian respondents considering television advertising as trustworthy.

Nielsen (client solutions) Executive Director Sarang Panchal said, ''As a consumer, one is exposed to advertising in various media but what touches ones chord is either a very innovative message or a product, which is good value for money. Word of mouth brings with it a big 'trust' factor, which is quite often missing in other forms of advertising.''

Advertisements in newspapers rank second (77 per cent) in India and also globally among all media categories at 63 per cent. Other traditional forms of advertising like television, magazines and radio each rank above 50 per cent.

''This result clearly shows that Indians are not averse to new forms of advertising and this is a welcome sign for marketers to explore different advertising opportunities, which are very cost effective too! Blogs and social networking sites are becoming a big tool in the western world to generate consumer opinion, especially regarding new product launches,'' Mr Panchal added.

With 71 per cent in India, magazines made it to the fifth slot as a medium that can be trusted. India is also the ninth country amongst the top ten countries which trusts magazine advertising, according to the survey.

Search engine advertisements (41 per cent), adverstisements before movies (41 per cent), online banner advertisements (38 per cent), and text advertisements on mobiles (24 per cent) are the least trusted forms of advertising in India.

http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1126412

Ten Mental Blocks to Creative Thinking

10 common ways we suppress our natural creative abilities nearby when We get stuck.
1. While this approach helps us function in society, it hurts creative thinking because real-life issues are ambiguous. There’s often more than one “correct” answer, and the second one you come up with might be better than the first.

Many of the following mental blocks can be turned around to reveal ways to find more than one answer to any given problem. Try reframing the issue in several different ways in order to prompt different answers, and embrace answering inherently ambiguous questions in several different ways.

2. Logical Thinking

Not only is real life ambiguous, it’s often illogical to the point of madness. While critical thinking skills based on logic are one of our main strengths in evaluating the feasibility of a creative idea, it’s often the enemy of truly innovative thoughts in the first place.

One of the best ways to escape the constraints of your own logical mind is to think metaphorically. One of the reasons why metaphors work so well in communications is that we accept them as true without thinking about it. When you realize that “truth” is often symbolic, you’ll often find that you are actually free to come up with alternatives.

3. Following Rules

One way to view creative thinking is to look at it as a destructive force. You’re tearing away the often arbitrary rules that others have set for you, and asking either “why” or “why not” whenever confronted with the way “everyone” does things.

This is easier said than done, since people will often defend the rules they follow even in the face of evidence that the rule doesn’t work. People love to celebrate rebels like Richard Branson, but few seem brave enough to emulate him. Quit worshipping rule breakers and start breaking some rules.

4. Being Practical

Like logic, practicality is hugely important when it comes to execution, but often stifles innovative ideas before they can properly blossom. Don’t allow the editor into the same room with your inner artist.

Try not to evaluate the actual feasibility of an approach until you’ve allowed it to exist on it’s own for a bit. Spend time asking “what if” as often as possible, and simply allow your imagination to go where it wants. You might just find yourself discovering a crazy idea that’s so insanely practical that no one’s thought of it before.

5. Play is Not Work

Allowing your mind to be at play is perhaps the most effective way to stimulate creative thinking, and yet many people disassociate play from work. These days, the people who can come up with great ideas and solutions are the most economically rewarded, while worker bees are often employed for the benefit of the creative thinkers.

You’ve heard the expression “work hard and play hard.” All you have to realize is that they’re the same thing to a creative thinker.

6. That’s Not My Job

In an era of hyper-specialization, it’s those who happily explore completely unrelated areas of life and knowledge who best see that everything is related. This goes back to what ad man Carl Ally said about creative persons—they want to be know-it-alls.

Sure, you’ve got to know the specialized stuff in your field, but if you view yourself as an explorer rather than a highly-specialized cog in the machine, you’ll run circles around the technical master in the success department.

7. Being a “Serious” Person

Most of what keeps us civilized boils down to conformity, consistency, shared values, and yes, thinking about things the same way everyone else does. There’s nothing wrong with that necessarily, but if you can mentally accept that it’s actually nothing more than groupthink that helps a society function, you can then give yourself permission to turn everything that’s accepted upside down and shake out the illusions.

Leaders from Egyptian pharaohs to Chinese emperors and European royalty have consulted with fools, or court jesters, when faced with tough problems. The persona of the fool allowed the truth to be told, without the usual ramifications that might come with speaking blasphemy or challenging ingrained social conventions. Give yourself permission to be a fool and see things for what they really are.

8. Avoiding Ambiguity

We rationally realize that most every situation is ambiguous to some degree. And although dividing complex situations into black and white boxes can lead to disaster, we still do it. It’s an innate characteristic of human psychology to desire certainty, but it’s the creative thinker who rejects the false comfort of clarity when it’s not really appropriate.

Ambiguity is your friend if you’re looking to innovate. The fact that most people are uncomfortable exploring uncertainty gives you an advantage, as long as you can embrace ambiguity rather than run from it.

9. Being Wrong is Bad

We hate being wrong, and yet mistakes often teach us the most. Thomas Edison was wrong 1,800 times before getting the light bulb right. Edison’s greatest strength was that he was not afraid to be wrong.

The best thing we do is learn from our mistakes, but we have to free ourselves to make mistakes in the first place. Just try out your ideas and see what happens, take what you learn, and try something else. Ask yourself, what’s the worst that can happen if I’m wrong? You’ll often find the benefits of being wrong greatly outweigh the ramifications.

10. I’m Not Creative

Denying your own creativity is like denying you’re a human being. We’re all limitlessly creative, but only to the extent that we realize that we create our own limits with the way we think. If you tell yourself you’re not creative, it becomes true. Stop that.

In that sense, awakening your own creativity is similar to the path reported by those who seek spiritual enlightenment. You’re already enlightened, just like you’re already creative, but you have to strip away all of your delusions before you can see it. Acknowledge that you’re inherently creative, and then start tearing down the other barriers you’ve allowed to be created in your mind.

http://www.copyblogger.com/mental-blocks-creative-thinking/

Seven Mudras for Amazing Health Benefits

Mudras are very powerful.

The first realization is the awareness that the world is impermanent. All political regimes are subject to fall; all things composed of the four elements are empty and contain the seeds of suffering. Human beings are composed of five skandhas, aggregates, and are without a separate self. They are always in the process of change – constantly being born and constantly dying. They are empty of self, without sovereignty. The mind is the source of all confusion, and the body is the forest of all impure actions. If we meditate on these facts, we can gradually be released from samsara, the round of birth and death.

The second realization is the awareness that more desire brings more suffering. All hardships in daily life arise from greed and desire. Those with little desire and ambition are able to relax, their bodies and minds free from entanglement.

The third realization is that the human mind is always searching for possessions and never feels fulfilled. This causes impure actions to ever increase. Bodhisattvas however, always remember the principle of having few desires. They live a simple life in peace in order to practice the Way, and consider the realization of perfect understanding as their only career.

The fourth realization is the awareness of the extent to which laziness is an obstacle to practice. For this reason, we must practice diligently to destroy the unwholesome mental factors which bind us, and to conquer the four kinds of Mara, in order to free ourselves from the prisons of the five aggregates and the three worlds.

The fifth realization is the awareness that ignorance is the cause of the endless round of birth and death. Therefore, bodhisattvas always remember to listen and learn in order to develop their understanding and eloquence. This enables them to educate living beings and bring them to the realm of great joy.

The sixth realization is the awareness that poverty creates hatred and anger, which creates a vicious cycle of negative thoughts and activity. When practicing generosity, bodhisattvas consider everyone, friends and enemies alike, as equal. They do not condemn anyone's past wrongdoings, nor do they hate those who are presently causing harm.

The seventh realization is that the five categories of desire lead to difficulties. Although we are in the world, we should try not to be caught up in worldly matters. A monk, for example, has in his possession only three robes and one bowl. He lives simply in order to practice the Way. His precepts keep him free of attachment to worldly things, and he treats everyone equally and with compassion.

The eighth realization is the awareness that the fire of birth and death is raging, causing endless suffering everywhere. We should take the Great Vow to help everyone, to suffer with everyone, and to guide all beings to the realm of great joy.

These eight realizations are the discoveries of great beings, buddhas and bodhisattvas who have diligently practiced the way of compassion and understanding. They have sailed the Dharmakaya boat to the shore of nirvana, but then they return to the ordinary world, having abandoned the five desires, with their minds and hearts directed toward the noble way, using these eight realizations to help all beings recognize the suffering in this world. If the disciples of the Buddha recite these eight realizations and meditate on them, they will put an end to countless misunderstandings and difficulties and progress toward enlightenment, leaving behind the world of birth and death, dwelling forever in peace.

http://www.drewking.com/8Great.htm

Stem cell team wins 2007 Nobel for medicine

Mario Capecchi, Martin Evans and Oliver Smithies won the 2007 Nobel Prize for medicine or physiology for their work on stem cells, prize awarder the Karolinska Institute said on Monday.
The prestigious 10 million Swedish crown ($1.54 million) prize recognised the international team's work on introducing genetic changes in mice using embryonic stem cells. Right now China is the favourite choice for outsourcing manufacturing while India is preferred for information technology, finance and customer services, said Capgemini, Europe's largest computer consultancy.

But "there's a very keen interest in moving more manufacturing to India," said Roy Lenders, vice president at Capgemini Consulting Services and the report's author.

In fact, "India could challenge the position of China as the manufacturing centre of the world in the next three to five years," Lenders said, citing a survey of 340 mainly Fortune 500 global manufacturing companies.

"What surprised us was when we asked about their plans for the next three or four years, they said outsourcing manufacturing (to India) was a higher priority than outsourcing back office work," he said.

"If we look at the respondents' plans for the coming years, manufacturing will become the number one activity to be off-shored to India," Lenders said, with lower costs the key factor driving the trend.

"The results in favour of India were overwhelming," he said. In fact, manufacturing outsourcing looks set over coming years to surpass India's flagship IT and business process outsourcing activities in importance, he said.

Right now, China's share of the world's manufacturing exports is more than 8% while India stands at just under 1%. But "the interest of global manufacturers in manufacturing in India is very high compared to China. In terms of trend there will definitely be a move. China has a reason to be worried," Lenders said.

However, India must improve its infrastructure with nearly half of the firms surveyed that had already outsourced manufacturing to India complaining about a lack of manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure.

India's ramshackle infrastructure of potholed roads, dilapidated ports, shabby airports and erratic power is regularly cited as an obstacle to economic growth along with the maze of red tape. It has already taken some steps to promote an export-led manufacturing boom by setting up special economic zones or SEZs - havens of economic freedom that drove China's industrialisation.

But even more "substantial investments" need to be made, Lenders said. "The lead factor driving India's new manufacturing popularity is price," he said. Some of the main manufacturing sites in China are becoming too pricey. Chinese manufacturing wages are $250 to $350 a month whereas they average $100 to $200 per month in Thailand and other parts of Asia. In India factory jobs start at $60 a month.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Business/India_Business/Made_in_India_to_challenge_China_Report/articleshow/2437730.cms

Finally, it's Mercedes Benz India

With DaimlerChrysler officially back to being Daimler AG, the Indian company is expected to return to being Mercedes Benz India, the name it came in with over a decade ago, as ET had reported last month.

This, official sources stated, is because the erstwhile DaimlerChrsyler India had only Mercedes Benz products and none of Chrysler’s products in the Indian market. All the vehicles launched so far, bear the three-pointed Mercedes Benz star and the name. The Indian company is set to launch its buses soon, which are also products from the parent company, hence remains within the Mercedes Benz fold.

The extraordinary meeting of shareholders held in Berlin on Thursday has approved the name change to Daimler AG, dropping the Chrysler but not, as some shareholders had wanted, to Daimler-Benz AG. However, reports in the international media on the meeting note that Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the German automaker, has sought to reassure shareholders that the Mercedes Benz brand would not be forgotten.

Therefore, in countries where they sell only single, Daimler products will become Mercedes Benz followed by the country name. In countries where multiple products are sold, the company will become Daimler followed by the country name.

The Daimler AG website notes, “As part of the renaming of the Group as Daimler AG, the company’s production plants and sales organisations in Germany and abroad will also be renamed. The guiding principle of the name change process is a clear distinction between the corporate brand Daimler and the Group’s various product brands.” “The company will be called Daimler wherever several product brands are produced or sold, or where the focus is on the Group as a whole.

Plants and sales organisations that exclusively or primarily produce or sell a single-product brand will be named after the respective product brand,” it said. It has further clarified that where sales organisations which “exclusively or primarily sell Mercedes-Benz products and will therefore be renamed Mercedes-Benz” include India, along with 34 other countries.

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/News/News_By_Industry/Auto/Finally_its_Mercedes_Benz_India/articleshow/2433476.cms
