It could be good and I could do it more often. It does tend to tire my eyes and makes me want to stop and rest a while. But I have done two rounds of posting to my blogs and it is quite satisfying. I would be better off perhaps if I could just determine if this is working as expected.

A little surprising bit of information came and it did show some promise. I have come quite a bit from the old days when I would be posting everything by hand. I am kind of semi-manually doing it but I have a little help from a script that I wrote which helps me with content.

Is there a name to what it is that I am doing? I should like to think that is making good use of the internet and hopefully it will pay off in the long run. I would hate to be doing this and not see any results. I am excited and if I can keep on doing this for another week I might see some results.

Haresh Frederick went to Cagayan de Oro City last December to attend his grandmother's birthday celebration. That gave him a chance to bond with his cousins and to renew old friendships. It has been a long time since he was in CDO.

He might get another chance to go back to Cagayan de Oro City should some projects become successful. There are many developments and things will surely be different when he next comes back to Cagayan de Oro City.

He had a chance to visit with his niece, Ira who now studies at Lourdes College.

The little experiment that I started a few days ago seems to be working and things are going quite smoothly. This is a cause for alarm and I should be more vigilant because the mind is up to its old tricks again. It gives you the feeling that you are winning and if you fall for this ploy you would begin to relax, to let your guard down and before you know it, you have lost your gains. I know this feeling all to well and this is where projects fail. Things are going smoothly and that is a good indication that more conflict is sure to come, when you least expect them. So I am expecting some opposition to come anytime soon. One gets this kind of feeling when one is keen on observing and learning from past mistakes. I have been this way before and I know what is in store for me.

Haresh plays for theSilliman University basketball team, something that he has earned through hard work, focus and dedication. Just this morning, his coach came over to his house to inform him that there was another invitation to play in Bayawan City. His coach handed him some things to do. He is not only playing basketball but is also doing some errands for his coach which shows the extent of his commitment to the team and the effort that he expends.

He is involved not only in the business of playing but in the business of getting things done off-court which is kind of cool. This means that he is being trusted to do things outside of playing. I must say that I am proud of him and I think that he will be able to take care of himself and to be able to make good decisions for himself.

It's so cool, Haresh Frederick is now a varsity player of Silliman University in Dumaguete. I have nothing but pride and praises for this gifted young man who is full of determination and focus. He has achieved what he set his eyes on since he enrolled in Silliman University. Dumaguete has been good to him. Even though Cagayan de Oro was his birthplace and he had many friends there, nevertheles he managed to transplant himself in Dumaguete quite nicely. This is not an easy matter as far as I could tell but he made the transition without complaints and whining. Dumaguete is now home to him as Cagayan d Oro City once was.

He went to Bacolod city a month ago to participate in games where the Silliman University Basketball Varsity was one of the competing teams. This month he is going back to Cagayan de Oro City to play the Xavier University Basketball team. This is a treat for Haresh Frederick since he has not been to Cagayan de Oro City in a very long while.

Another year, another set of opportunities are opening up for those who study in Silliman University. Haresh Frederick now plays for Arts and Sciences having changed course from Mass Communications. He led the MassCom team to a respectable fight even as a rookie. One who is never discouraged even by formidable opponents, he rallies his team mates even when facing strong players.

Dumaguete is always a place for good competition whether it be basketball or football. The coming year is sure to bring a sense of good competition during the intramural games. As the saying goes, it is not winning that is important but how the game is played. Winning may create fame and a sense of feeling good but playing a good game builds character.

Ching's World cheers the players of Silliman University in Dumaguete.

Dumaguete Fiesta

Dumaguete has celebrated its annual fiesta which is characterized with loads of fun-filled activities especially for young people. Dumaguete, you might say, has a demographic of preponderantly youthful residents owing to the existence of many large colleges and universities. Unlike bigger cities like Cebu or even Cagayan de Oro City whch have more industries and opportunities for employment, Dumaguete mostly caters to young people seeking education in its many institutions of higher learning.

After graduation, they inevitably move out to the bigger cities or find employment abroad which means that they leave Dumaguete and settle somewhere else. This situation creates an endless stream of young people who stay for a while before moving on to their destined future which invariably means places other than Dumaguete. Very few of these young people stay to live out their lives in this City of Gentle People.

It is a blessing that Dumaguete has remained a small town with big educational institutions like Silliman University, St. Paul's University, Negros Oriental State University, Foundation University, ACSAT and many others. Even though Dumaguete is expensive in terms of the pruces of food items nevertheles, it is relatively less expensive when talking of sending a child for college education.

He was a big baby, 11.14 lbs when he was born. There was a bit of a problem with his left shoulder which showed a separation from his collar-bone and he was unable to move for a while. The doctor assured us that he would be fine and that babies generally heal fast and he did heal fast although it was agonizing to see the x-rays showing a gap between his shoulder bones.

He looked like an angel and his uncle would call him "Angel" while he gurgled and laughed. He loved to laugh and had those big belly laughs and enjoyed playing with whoever came to play with him. There were moments though when huge tears would inexplicaby flow down his cheeks and he would sob as though tormented and feeling the deepest sorrow. I would frantically try to cheer him up and cuddle and hold him close trying to scare away the goblins in his mind that were making him so infinitely sad. These episodes were few and far in between and happily, never came back as he grew older. I vowed never to make him cry and made it a rule that he was not to be teased or made uncomfortable and sad.

Very often grown-ups play games with young children where they tease and belittle the young ones. I disapprove of these antics and I believe that the ones doing these tricks are nothing more than over-grown bullies who could only deal with the little ones in that manner.

This baby is now grown up and studying in Silliman University in Dumaguete City.

Enjoying college life in Dumaguete

Now in second year studying towards a degree in Mass Communications, Haresh Frederick (Derick) has taken to college life in Silliman University in Dumaguete like a duck to water. He plays basketball actively and enjoys the camaraderie of his basketball buddies. Dumaguete is a far cry from the congestion and pollution of Cagayan de Oro where he came from, when talking about these banes of urban life. In fact one might be able to say that Dumaguete is a growing city much like Cagayan de Oro was a few years ago but, without the noise and the bumper-to-bumper traffic.

A number of his old classmates in Cagayan de Oro have also enrolled in Silliman University which might lead one to think that Dumaguete has an edge over the bigger city. That many terms are common to both cities like "pachada" seems to make them alike in more ways than one.

Derick goes to church often and does some meditation.

Derick as he is called by his friends originally came from Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) where he studied in Corpus Christi Grade School. When his family moved to Dumaguete, he studied in Silliman University High School and St.Paul's University High School where he graduated. Now currently in Second Year in Silliman University college of Mass Communications, he actively plays basketball with the college team. His avowed aim is to become a lawyer like his late grandfather who was a provincial fiscal in Zamboanga del Sur and his uncle who is also a lawyer.
