Mildred Kreider Receives Conservation Award at Harford Land Trust Annual Meeting

The award cites Kreider’s personal support of the founding of HLT, years of serving on the Board of Directors, generous financial support of projects and administrative costs and efforts to conserve in perpetuity the historical and natural resources of Little Jericho Farm, owned by she and her late husband, Sidney Krieder since 1975. Lise Lorentzen is a relative newcomer to Harford County. A BRAC “refugee”, as she jokingly refers to herself, she hails from Staten Island, NY. C. Milton Wright High School students from Mr. Joe Davis’ Marketing II class just got a lesson they are likely to remember. The class successfully completed the development of two promotional offers for all teachers and HCPS high school students at two Harford County Burger King locations.

The class of 30 students spent several weeks working with Dominic Rose, operations manager for Harloe Management Group, which is the owner of eight Burger Kings in Baltimore and Harford counties. County Executive Craig Issues Statement Regarding Harford’s Compliance with State-Mandated Rain Tax

(Bel Air, MD) - Harford County Executive David R. Craig has issued the following statement regarding the county’s compliance with the state-mandated collection of a stormwater remediation fee, a measure that the General Assembly passed and the Governor signed into law last year:

Recently I received Harford County Bill 13-12 on my desk, approved by the County Council after having been introduced at the request of my administration. This is the county legislation for a stormwater fee, also rightly referred to as the Rain Tax, which is required based on a law that the Maryland General Assembly passed back in April of 2012. The state law requires Harford and nine other jurisdictions in the state to levy fees on developed land by this coming July 1, and to use the funds raised on stormwater management projects. The City of Havre de Grace will kick off the Maryland State Chesapeake Campaign the first weekend in May 2013 with a three day festival marking the 200th year of prosperity since they were ransacked and burned by the British.

In 1813 Havre de Grace was a small fishing village; and with Post Road traversing through town, was a major source of land travel. The taverns and ferry made Havre de Grace, originally called Susquehanna Lower Ferry, a vibrant town in the early 19th century. Read more...
