The AVR 210 is an exceptional receiver choice for home entertainment systems that have more modest amplifier power requirements, yet whose owners desire a full complement of high-end features. The AVR 210 delivers 40 watts into 8 ohms (20 Hz to 20 kHz, less than 0.07 percent THD, all channels driven) of high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth power to each channel (50 watts x 2 in stereo). It also features a wide variety of audio and video inputs and outputs, including the company’s exclusive Front-Panel Play and Record feature, for enhanced connectivity.

The AVR 210 features Harman Kardon’s patented EzSet remote, which includes a built-in SPL (sound pressure level) measuring and calibration system that automatically balances speaker-channel levels for optimum surround sound listening regardless of the playback format. Setting speaker levels is one of the most critical adjustments for proper movie soundtrack reproduction, and the EzSet remote makes the process accurate and virtually foolproof for maximum audio benefits.

Significantly expanding its functionality beyond the traditional capabilities of an audio-video receiver, this model features MP3 decoding capability for compatibility with the latest in audio technology. When connected to a computer with a compatible coaxial digital-audio output jack or Harman Kardon’s new CDR 30 CD recorder or DVD 50 DVD video changer via their coaxial or optical digital inputs, this exclusive Harman Kardon innovation enables music lovers to enjoy high-quality playback of MP3-encoded CDs or Internet-delivered streaming media programs on their home entertainment systems. The AVR 210 receiver also features 24-bit, 192 kHz audio capability using multiple latest-generation Crystal Semiconductor 49326 DSP processors and 4392 digital-to-analog converters for the highest-resolution audio playback available today. As an added benefit, feeding the digital output of most CD players (with lower than 24-bit/192 kHz resolution) to the AVR will provide dramatically better sound quality than you’d hear playing back through standard 16-bit, 44.1 kHz DACs.

The receiver also features the highest-quality surround sound audio performance, utilizing not only Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel decoding, but two proprietary Harman Kardon audio technologies, Logic 7 and VMAx, which take surround sound and stereo audio reproduction to new levels of sonic realism.

Developed by Lexicon and available exclusively in AV receivers from Harman Kardon, Logic 7 is a sophisticated digital signal-processing (DSP) system that provides better multichannel derivations from matrix-encoded and two-channel stereo recordings than what was previously attainable via Harman’s two cinema and music listening modes. Logic 7 reproduces two-channel recordings through a multichannel speaker system with superior imaging, separation, and directionality, along with a greater sense of envelopment. Logic 7 also improves playback of any matrix surround-encoded material (such as Dolby Pro Logic), for a wider front soundstage and smoother and more accurate movement of sound between front and rear.

Harman Kardon’s patented VMAx Near- and Far-mode VirtualTheater audio processing is a DSP method of simulating realistic, high-fidelity, 3-D surround sound audio in 360 degrees using just two loudspeakers, as in a traditional stereo playback system. VMAx works astonishingly well thanks to its proprietary, sophisticated processing algorithms and vast processing power.

VMAx accepts a Dolby Digital or Dolby Pro Logic multichannel output and processes it into two channels in such a way that listeners believe they are listening to sounds from five speakers: left, center, and right front as well as left and right surround. Conventional two-channel-stereo program material is also improved to provide a much wider and deeper soundstage, one that extends well beyond the locations of the loudspeakers. The listener can choose from both Near and Far modes for an up-close or more distant listening perspective.

The receiver of course features Harman Kardon’s high-current, ultrawide- bandwidth amplifier topology with discrete output devices to reproduce digital movie soundtracks and music with unmatched sonic accuracy and dynamic power. The receiver’s high-current capability enables it to effortlessly drive even difficult loudspeaker loads, while ultrawide bandwidth provides far superior phase linearity, lower distortion, greater high-frequency headroom, and more accurate frequency response in the audible frequency range. This unit also drives equal power into all five main channels, especially important for clear, accurate reproduction of discrete, full-range 5.1-channel Dolby Digital and DTS movie soundtracks-not to mention discrete multichannel music discs with full-bandwidth, rear-channel program material. Banana plug-compatible speaker terminals grace the amplifier outputs, facilitating the use of audiophile-quality speaker cables.

Harman Kardon’s Advanced Digital Bass Manager is another standout feature, the most versatile multichannel bass-management system available. This unique system lets the receiver route the LFE (low-frequency effects) channel to the left and right front speakers as well as to the subwoofer, if desired, to provide more available bass, and employs a fourth-order low-pass filter, rather than the commonly used second-order filter, for a smoother transition between higher and lower frequencies.

A wealth of additional performance and convenience features includes a greatly expanded complement of digital and analog inputs (including front-panel digital inputs to accommodate high-performance game consoles, which often offer digital outputs for multichannel audio), S-video down-conversion (which converts an S-video input to a composite video output for greater video source component connection and switching flexibility).

Exclusive to Harman Kardon, the AVR 210 also provides a unique Front-Panel Play and Record feature that enables the front-panel jacks to function either as inputs or outputs to connect a program source such as a VCR, camcorder, CD recorder, or portable audio product for either playback or recording.

Additional features include an improved onscreen menu system, a Listener Preference System that lets you set specific speaker-channel level settings for each program source and DSP format (for example, the subwoofer level can be set differently for two-channel CD music listening and multichannel Dolby Digital DVD movie viewing), an icon-based front-panel display that provides ready indication of all functions, and much more. All Harman Kardon receivers (excluding the AVR 110) include six-channel direct inputs to accommodate future digital audio decoding systems and DVD audio/video players.

This fixed price sale is for a Harman Kardan audio/video reciever in very good condition. The home theater portion includes speaker outputs for front R&L, center, rear, and woofer. Inputs include the TV, CD, Tape Monitor, Tape, 3 VCRs and an auxiliary input. I am including the original manual and fully operational remote. This receiver is in very good cosmetic condition. Harmon Kardon/ HK 3480, 2 channel 240 watts total receiver. This unit was replace with the HK 3490. I’m the original and only owner of this receiver and it’s about 5 yrs. old with less than 500 hrs total of use. This receiver is in excellent shape with some minor smudging and maybe some scratches that I can’t find or see but if the light hits it just right might show some signs of use. The only reason I’m selling the receiver is that I’m upgrading to seperates components.Preamp, amp, etc. This unit is barely burned in. I have the remote and looked all over for owners manuel but I can’t find it, it is available on line. Important $7 more if shipped to Pacific Standard Time.

Sounds GREAT – Just tested it using some vintage 1980′s Optimus Speakers (speakers not included) and it sounded great. Did a good job of picking up distant stations as well

Cosmetically in excellent condition.

There is one small scratch to the upper right of the tuning dial – very minor.

There are 2 or 3 very small nicks in the aluminum trim – also to the right of the tuning dial.

Otherwise looks great!

Item is used but in good cosmetic shape. Some scratchmarks, but nothing major. Powers on, but it is not working properly and we are selling it as an older unit, for parts/repair – no returns/refunds for any reason. Also, while the remote control is in the picture, it is NOT included as it was lost.

If you’re in the market for a terrific-sounding AV receiver and require only the most basic features for home theater operation, Harman Kardon’s entry-level AVR 100 struts its stuff with stellar build quality and crystalline sound.

The AVR 100 benefits from many of the same qualities that make the Harman Kardon receiver lineup one of the best we’ve seen. For example, while it’s rated at just 40 watts per channel (wpc) in surround mode (50 wpc in stereo), the AVR 100′s High Current Capability (HCC) amplifier sounds as dynamic and effortless as many 150-wpc amps we know.

In testing, the AVR 100 drove a variety of speakers to nearly skull-shattering levels with both CDs and our favorite blockbuster DVDs. Most people regard wattage as all-important in determining amplifier prowess. But Harman’s products testify to the greater significance of high current, rather than high power.

Because the AVR 100 comes equipped with both Dolby Pro Logic and Dolby Digital surround decoding, you’ll be able to enjoy your DVDs and surround-encoded VHS tapes at their very best. In addition, the AVR 100 comes with 5.1-channel direct inputs, which means that it will be fully capable of amplifying decoded DTS surround sound (from a DTS-decoding DVD player) or future surround formats as they become available.

Another important characteristic the AVR 100 shares with higher priced Harman receivers is its lifelike sound. Our favorite CDs sounded full, rich, and natural. Like all inherently neutral-sounding components, the AVR 100 conveys a sense, it seems, of the space in which the recordings were made. Dynamics are explosively fast and delivered with force. High frequencies sound smooth yet detailed, and the bottom end is tuneful (rather than monotonous), with a nice punch to it.

Although we wish the AVR 100 had S-video switching and DTS decoding, it really wasn’t designed for the hard-core videophile. Instead, the AVR-100 is for those of us who love music and movies, want them to sound their best, and yet like to keep our systems simple. To that end, it succeeds beautifully.

Vert well kept up 7000, only getting rid of it because of no HDMI still have one that I use just as a stereo. Any questions feel free to ask. The fee for small, hand-held size items is $1 per day. I am unable to test this unit fully. All audio functions work but I don’t own a Television capable of interfacing fully. The cosmetics are very nice and everything appears to be in order. I don’t think this is the proper remote based on appearance but it does work with the receiver.

Offering a Harman Kardon HK730 receiver in great condition .You are purchasing this from an Audio Technician with over 30 years experience in repairing receivers, including authorized HK warranty. Unit has been completely gone through. Bias, DC offset and fm rf and dial have all been aligned. Bulbs have been replaced and controls cleaned. This piece is on anyones top 10 list of best sounding receivers-ever. With a dual power supply/ high current design and discrete outputs, this 40 watt/ch receiver sounds like twice its rated power. Highly desired for its outstanding sound, search google and you will see all the rave comments. Cosmetically, it’s in fantastic condition, with very minor scratches around headphone jack and some controls (can’t be seen unless inches away).Here’s a chance to get a true plug-and-play unit that will give years of pleasure. Up for auction is a used Harman/Kardon Model AVR-45 Home Audio/Video Receiver with built-in power supply.

This receiver was pawned and has been tested to power on only and powers on without issue. It has not been tested for all of its various functions due to lack of equipment and knowledge.

Our return policy detailed below will certainly apply should the winning bidder find that the receiver is not in good working condition.

There is no remote control included in this auction.

Cosmetically the unit shows overall moderate wear but no abuse. We found nothing that we would describe as damage and all of the buttons, dials, etc. are accounted and seem to be working smoothly and correctly.

And while sound quality is definitely a priority here-we’re talking about Harman Kardon, after all-a lot of circuit-design and digital signal processing know-how went into this receiver.

Most significantly, the receiver offers Harman’s exclusive Logic 7 and VMAx surround modes (intelligent 5.1- and two-channel surround matrices for any sound source-stereo or otherwise) and onboard decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS surround formats in addition to HDCD. Throw in 30 FM/AM station presets alongside S-video and component-video switching, and you’re looking at your key to top-flight music and home-theater enjoyment for well under $2,000.

The AVR 7000 can also supply sound for two rooms (with the use of an external infrared remote sensor), and the receiver comes with one set of stereo RCA outputs, composite- and S-video outputs, and a separate, limited-function remote control for this purpose.

With all of its features, however, nothing gets in the way of sound performance. The tone controls-the AVR 7000 offers actual bass and treble knobs-can be taken out of the audio circuit to keep the audio signal path as short and clean as possible. In listening to CDs through either the analog or digital inputs, we found that the AVR 7000 opens a big, natural window on the music. (We recommend using your CD player’s analog outputs only if it has no digital outputs or if it’s a player with extremely high-quality analog circuitry.)

With the AVR 7000, the qualities we expect from separates (preamplifier and amplifier components) but don’t usually get from integrated receivers abound: a wonderful sense of air and ambiance; complex layers of rich harmonics; a beautiful nuance in vocal delivery; wide dynamics and subtle microdynamics; smooth, extended high frequencies; and a bottom end that is at once powerful and well defined but never muddy.

Surround decoding of Dolby Digital- and DTS-encoded discs, performed by 24-bit, 96 kHz Crystal DSP (digital signal processing) circuits, is just as impressively clear and dynamic.

The AVR 7000′s biggest drawback is that you can’t adjust the speaker delays for surround formats other than Dolby Digital. Because most living rooms do not lend themselves to optimal home-theater speaker placement, it’s standard for receivers to let you input and store the distance (in either feet or meters) from your various speakers to your primary listening position. This ensures that the sounds from your speakers arrive at your ears simultaneously, as if you were equidistant from all speakers. You can, however, adjust the relative volume levels of each channel, which is actually more important than adjusting the delay times.

In practice, the AVR 7000′s surround sound coherence is excellent, even with DTS-encoded multichannel music CDs (though the presentation in one of our less ideal rooms was not as seamless as it might have been).

The AVR 7000 also lets you toggle between a given component’s analog and digital outputs from the remote control-a function that few receivers offer. Granted, this feature will appeal mainly to audiophiles who are interested in comparing, for instance, the sound of a component’s analog outputs to its digital output, or the effect that different analog audio interconnects have on the sound (using the digital output as a reference). But Harman excels in this kind of detail-oriented feature, and it’s good to know it’s available here.

Unlike most of the overhyped proprietary DSP modes out there, Harman Kardon’s own Logic 7 (multichannel) and VMAx (two-channel) surround modes work extremely well, in most cases audibly improving over regularly decoded, discrete source material (like Dolby Digital and DTS)-no small feat. Logic 7 also instantaneously generates 5.1-channel information from two-channel material such as CDs, television, VHS tapes, and other sources, letting you take full advantage of your surround system without the annoying artifacts that often accompany such faux-surround algorithms.

Setting up the AVR 7000 is, not surprisingly, a complex and time-consuming effort, but one that pays off. To its credit, the unit boasts a terrific onscreen setup display (though it does reset your settings when you revisit a given parameter), one of the best owner’s manuals we’ve seen, and an uncluttered, illuminated, full-function remote control capable of operating up to eight devices (choose from 17 brands of DVD players and over 80 brands of televisions).

The only other drawback worth mentioning is that the system often takes a few seconds to lock onto a new sound format, whether it’s DTS or an HDCD-encoded CD. This means that you’ll occasionally miss the first couple seconds of sound, but you can always preselect the format or simply start the track anew. This was not an issue in DVD video titles, where the surround format is usually triggered long before you actually need to hear sound.

When it’s all configured and set to go, you’ll have most of the home theater world at your remote-clicking fingertips, from full future-ready capabilities in the receiver’s 5.1-channel analog inputs (perfect for DVD audio) to component-video switching for videophile DVD video performance.

Sounds GREAT – Just tested it using some vintage 1980′s Optimus Speakers (speakers not included) and it sounded great. Did a good job of picking up distant stations as well

Cosmetically in excellent condition.

There is one small scratch to the upper right of the tuning dial – very minor.

There are 2 or 3 very small nicks in the aluminum trim – also to the right of the tuning dial.

Otherwise looks great!

I bought this receiver used several months ago. I love it! It powers my 200 watt RMS vintage Dahlquist DQ-10′s wonderfully. Blew out my Cerwin Vega LS 12′s several times before I got rid of them. Not only is it powerful but also very clean. It does not distort even when approaching the higher volumes. It is a steal for the buy it now price. I paid $200 for it on ebay about 6 months ago and it is in the same condition! I DO NOT HAVE THE REMOTE/ AM/FM antennae! They can be purchased on ebay or online. From what I hear they are not worth it regardless. The unit is in perfect working condition. Item has several small scratches on the top/ wear and tear dents, but you wouldn’t even see it if you had it in a case or on an entertainment center. As I said it works fine!I have few transactions, but all are within electronics and are positive feedback. Bid with confidence please! Email with questions. Flat rate shipping of $20.00 US only.
