HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A standoff with Harris County Sheriff’s deputies has ended peacefully.

At approximately 9:30 AM a 9-1-1 call was received from a male complainant stating that he was being held against his will in a business located at 811 Aldine Mail Route in Harris County, Texas.

Responding deputies attempted to make contact with the male subject who had barricaded himself inside of the business.
Deputies and clinicians assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Response Team were dispatched to the scene to obtain the peaceful surrender of the subject. Upon arrival, the male subject fired multiple rounds from a pistol in his possession.

The Sheriff’s Office High Risk Operations Unit and Hostage Negotiation Team were later deployed to the location to take the subject into custody. Specially trained deputies deployed CS Gas into the business compelling the subject to surrender.

No patrons or employees of the business were present at the time of the incident. The subject was taken into custody without injury. Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network (GHC 9-1-1) reminds residents during this time-before, during and following Tropical Storm Bill, to only contact 9-1-1 for in-progress emergencies. Remember to call 9-1-1 only When a Life is on the line-for emergency assistance for: police, fire or medical emergency services.

There may be an increased number of phone calls at all of the 9-1-1 centers requesting emergency assistance. If you have an emergency:
1) Call 9-1-1, stay on the line and don't hang up until your call is answered.
2) Answer all questions
3) Follow all instructions

It is important not to overload the phone systems at the emergency call centers with non-emergency calls, especially during the time of a storm. Do not contact 9-1-1 to check on the status of the weather, power outages or other nonemergency inquiries.

It is best to stay tuned to the media for weather, flooding and traffic updates.

GHC 9-1-1 is responsible for administering 9-1-1 services for 49 cities and two counties: Harris and Fort Bend. For more information on when to call 9-1-1: www.911.org.

Due to the anticipated inclement weather, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has announced a temporary suspension of visitation at the Harris County Jail.

Visitation originally scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2015 – Wednesday, June 17, 2015 has been temporarily suspended.

Buildings included in the temporary suspension of visitation: 1200 Baker Street, 701 San Jacinto Street, 711 San Jacinto Street, and 1307 Baker Street, Houston, TX 77002.

Normal visitation hours will resume on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 3:30 PM.

The curfew includes ALL areas located in unincorporated Harris County. Juveniles under the age of 17 are subject to the Harris County Juvenile Curfew order.

The Juvenile Curfew is enforced seven days a week. The hour of enforcement is from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. in the morning.

The exceptions to the curfew are:
• Accompanied by parent, guardian or custodian
• Engaged in lawful employment or traveling to or from employment
• Participating or traveling to or from school-sponsored or church-affiliated activities, recreational activities supervised by adults and sponsored by a government entity, civic, non-profit organization or similar entity that takes responsibility for the juveniles.
• On sidewalk of Juvenile’s residence or sidewalk of next door neighbor, if neighbor does not complain
• Involved in an emergency
• In vehicle or aircraft involved in interstate travel with the consent of a parent, guardian, or custodian
• Married or previously married; or had disabilities of minority removed by a court of competent jurisdiction
