The River, scheduled for an eight episode season, is probably about to get axed - atleast if you read the Chicago Sun Times. There is no official statement so far, with the season finale (episode 8) coming up next week.

Personally i grew to like The River really well. It has an amazing cast, setting and pacing and while it probably grew too big of a hype as a LOST successor (which doesn't even fit) it is still an amazing show.

I really hope this is going to get a shot for a The River season 2, chances are though that it won't. Still, if you are into mistery, a little horror and an amazing setting right in the Amazonas, make sure to watch the eight episode long season 1 which will conclude on 21st March 8|9c on ABC.

NBC puts Community on hiatus

NBC just officialy sent Community to the bench and can respectfully go f-k thereselves if they won't get it out on the field again soon.

In my opinion Community is still the most perfect Sitcom on air right now and is on par with the liked of Arrested Development (also canceled after 3 seasons). There is simply no excuse to let the shitfest called "Whitney" still air while putting Community on the sidelines.

Make sure to show your support in any possible way to show NBC that Community's fanbase has not given up. #AbedIsBatman on Twitter is a good way to start.

To quote a good article i read about it:

"Community" is an Internet darling. Each new episode generates countless gifs, memes, discussion boards, topics, and what have you on the web. People who participate this actively on the Internet are obviously more likely to get their television content on the Internet as well, thus bypassing the ratings system entirely and perpetuating "Community"'s poor weekly ratings performances on-air. People are watching; NBC just has no way to quantify it and profit from it."

on another note: Ryan Murphys American Horror Story is by the far the best new show that premiered in this fall season. Whitney by far the worst. Also Big Bang Theory is so bad, it's literally not even watchable anymore.

What shows are you going to watch this fall season?

Topic says it all. As I just got back few days ago, I was trying to make up my mind on what exactly I plan to watch for this fall season. In general, i tend to miss every good show and instead go with the bad (or actually decent) ones, that get cancelled after like 4 episodes. So well, not too much luck here. I just saw a pretty great picture made by Robert Paulson, which seems to sum up the shows that are worthy to have an eye on pretty good. Try to see for yourself:

For me I def. going to give "Ringer" a shot, not only because I love to see Sarah Michelle Gellar on my TV Screen again, but because I think this probably will be the most mature show ever dropped on us by the CW. Also for sure Terra Nova is going to get a try, American Horror Story for sure (since I still think Murphys Nip/Tuck is was the best show ever) and Pan Am and The Playboy Club. I'll probably cancel half of these within the first 3 episodes (like I did with Game of Thrones - was this a mistake guys?), since I just don't have the time anymore to watch more than 10 shows per week.

Enough about me, what are you going to watch for this fall season? Any favourites in particular or you going to roam around a little too?

Short break from blogging

Since I'm going to be in New York for the next 1.5 weeks, there will be no new blogposts or reviews or spoilers or basically anything. I'm doing a media internship in a production company and I actually hope to give you some further insight when I am back. As i can't name the company for obvious reasons, don't expect too much of a tripreport or some super secret leaks, still, I hope this will be a great experience for me.

I'll make sure to spread the love again when I'm going to be back! By the way, don't miss out on next weeks series finale of Entourage. I think i'm actually going to shed a tear, something I haven't done since the series finale of Nip/Tuck!

Why True Bloods Season 4 fails to succeed

The return of True Blood and its Season 4 was long awaited and not only by fans of the books. As regular readers knew way before the first teasers released, Eric Northman was set to be amnesiac in Season 4, just like he was in the books. As I haven't read the books myself, I don't know if they followed the story a 100% but what I know is, that Season 4 of True Blood is a mess that is - for right now- unrepairable.

The main reason why it just fails to succeed like Season 1 and 2 back in the days did, is that the pacing is off - and with off I mean it isn't even any pacing there. Because they wanted to include the werwolves again (which pretty much look like shit since day 1), the shapeshifters (which were fun for 3 episodes but bare no potential at all) and the werepandas, which are downright ridiculous hillbillys, there really is no room for any vampire business at all. By the way, I forgot that they also wanted to include hillbilly-shamans, witches and fairies.

So while Season 1 and 2 focused on the interaction between vampires and humans, while also showing us a little insight on the underground vampire society, since Season 3 things have started to get messy. Not only do we have a dozen mystical creatures, but not one of the were-somethings-shifters-faries-whatever are in any way interesting. It's okay if they keep them as a sidekick for an episode or two, but for now, the vampires are actually the sidekick. We rarely see any vampires except the main ones (Bill, Eric etc) and we don't see any traveling or a change of location outside of Bon Temps. Which leaves us with a 45 minutes episode, where 30 minutes are focused on some half-ass-baked creatures, while the vampire "storyline" gets dragged along throughout the season. I also forgot the awkward *bedtime* scenes, which started out as typical HBO and actually pretty cool in the first two seasons, but seem to be forced down the viewers throat ever since.

I look scarier than I'm supposed to be

Don't get me wrong, I won't stop watching True Blood anytime soon, but it sure got downhill since Season 3. My hopes are up for Season 5 and the return of the "real" Eric Northman - atleast this way we would have 1 cool character left on the show.

Criminal Minds is in fact criminally good

One of television’s trickiest jobs is to stay fresh. People seem to complain quite often about Hollywood having a lack of originality, or having run out of ideas; and this is with regard to movies, which are planned often for years in advance of production. Television, on the other hand (though still planned in advance) is constant and endless… producers must churn out new shows and new episodes on a weekly basis. This is one reason that television often seems stale, and one reason that people are heading to http://www.direct.tv, or looking into HBO – they want to find newer, fresher shows and more variety. However, if you are looking for a show that sets itself apart from shows with similar premises and provides fresh, consistent entertainment, you may want to consider Criminal Minds.

The biggest flaw with this show is in fact its title. The title “Criminal Minds” sounds like one of two things: either a nonfiction psychology show that delves into real life criminal cases, or just another stale cop drama. In actuality, Criminal Minds is a relatively young and extremely hard-hitting television drama that revolves around the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, a group of extremely intelligent men and women who track and bring down serial killers using a combination of psychological profiling and daring field work. But what really sets Criminal Minds apart from other “cop dramas” (aside from the premise of solving crimes from a psychological standpoint, which may sound unrealistic but is actually a trusted real life practice) is its variety and depth of characters.

Even in long-lasting and extremely popular shows such as Law & Order, many detective characters on television are essentially the same. Criminal Minds, on the other hand, has an extremely unique cast of characters that keeps the show interesting. Any given episode may focus on all of them working together, or more heavily on one than the others…. From Spencer Reed, the team’s young but somewhat nerdy prodigy with an eidetic memory, to Derek Morgan, the chiseled and handsome agent who is as soft toward victims as he is hard on criminals, the cast of characters is both unique and expansive. However it is their differences, and the way in which they play off of each other, that keep the show running. So, if you are looking for fresh television and original ideas, do not dismiss Criminal Minds simply because of its name, or because you aren’t a fan of the average cop drama… in an industry starving for originality and intrigue, this show delivers in a big way.

True Blood gets renewed for Season 5

Not a surprising revelation, but HBO has officially announced to renew its Vampire series "True Blood" for another full season. Seeing how the show has more than over 5 million viewers each week and the storyline far away from being finished, this renewal was to be expected. The fifth season will include another 12 episodes of fun filled vampire action revolving around the likes of Sookie Stackhouse, Bill Compton and Eric Northman. The production team will start filming in Los Angeles later this year and when all goes according to plan, the fifth season will start airing in the summer of 2012.

“I am thrilled that TRUE BLOOD continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics,” noted Lombardo. “Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV.”“I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers,” says Ball. “I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”

Frank Darabont leaves The Walking Dead

Rumours floating around that showrunner Frank Darabont (the main reason why people even started watching this in the first place) is stepping down as showrunner for AMCs The Walking Dead.

As for now there are nothing but rumours to why he was stepping down, if he just wants to pursue the big screen again, or AMC refused to give him a raise is not sure. All there is, and thats one thing you nearly can be certain of is: The Walking Dead WILL drop in quality. Darabont leaving is an enormours hit for the show.

'Glee' Stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer to leave the Show

Ryan Murphy, writer and co-creator of 'Glee', recently announced that Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will all be leaving the show by the end of season 3.
Apparently 'Glee' will be taking new directions with three of the main characters being gone. Factors for making this decision seem to be staying realistic with the high school time-frame. Murphy explained:

"You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic," the 45-year-old writer/director explained decisions to cut the three regulars, before adding "or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year."

"We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top."

Communication with the actors seem not to be Murphys strongest trait, as it probably came as a shock to Chris Colfer (Kurt), to find out via twitter that he was leaving the show.

Dexter jumps ahead, leaving Lumen and Rita behind

As executive producer Sara Colleton just told TVguide in an exclusiver interview, upcoming season 6 of Dexter will leap a little forward in timeline, as we will not be seeing Dexter still grieving about Ritas death or Lumen, but instead Dexter will bei highly focussed on what he does best: killing off criminals.

As Colleton told TVguide, show creator and writers wanted to give Dexter his "old groove back" by moving the storyline away from all his family stuff and instead focus more on his business. In fact the premiere of Dexter season 6 will start roughly one year in to the future. Get excited to NOT see a whiney Dexter anymore and instead enjoy the machine that Dex was back in his first two seasons of the show.

Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg is returning to the dinosaur action he knows so well. And the Jurassic Park director is bring his brand new dino-tastic action adventure Terra Nova exclusively to Sky1 HD.

Terra Nova follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149, the world is dying. Eliza Dushku and Halle Berry return to TV

Not all news right now are concerning Blake Lively and her (or not her) iPhone selfshots, as some Hollywood insiders claim that Halle Berry could star in an upcoming drama series on a thus far not named cable network. The drama series named Higher Learning will center around a college professor in her 30s.

Also Eliza Dushku was cast to guest star on USA's White Collar. Dushku is set to appear on episode 9 of upcoming season 3.

Back from Holidays

So I just came back from Sylt, where I had 2 weeks full of enjoyment, internet-free-time, and a lot of sun. Because of the Internet-free-time i obviously wasn't able to post anything new on here.

So what happened in the terms of TV-Shows? I actually don't know - got a lot of catch up to do, but expect the usual fresh stuff on here soon again.

By the way: I started watching Glee (I was too angry about Murphy for letting Nip/Tuck go, so I just couldn't bare watching Glee so far) and I actually liked it. Any more gleeks out here?

Lisa Edelstein, the actress who plays Cuddy on House, MD, just tweeted that she wont return for next season (which supposedly is going to be the last one)

While executives at NBC and FOX declined to comment, Lisa tweeted

“After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead.”

Is Hugh Laurie leaving House, MD ?

House MD fans may shed a tear as Hugh Laurie, who plays the infamous Dr. House, is set to leave after Season 8 of the award winning drama. As he told the "Radio Times", it looks like the full episode season 8 of 'House' is going to be the last one - atleast for him. I honestly don't think that FOX would keep the show running without Greg, so 2012 is probably the last time we are going to see new episodes of House MD.

Personally, I haven't shed a tear so far. House got pretty stale for the last three seasons and while I still watch it regularly - I also wouldn't miss it much. Compared to the first three seasons, it just turned way too much into a soap opera and less into a thrilling medical drama.
