Fun Battleship, January 21, 2012

We have never owned any other version of Battleship so this one seems fine to us. I like that all the parts fit into the cases for easy clean up & travel.

A great classic ruined by a shoddy new design., October 2, 2011
I picked up this somewhat newly designed version at a thrift store recently. Battleship has long been a favorite game of mine but mine and my husband's enjoyment was spoiled quite a bit by the unnecessary new design. Why mess with a classic? They have replaced the very simple pegs with clumsy ill-fitting ones that fall out at the slightest bump. They have rounded the edges of the case, thereby eliminating the helpful score keeping holes at the top edge of the game that allows you and your opponent to keep track of who is ahead. I do not see the point of any of these 'updates'. Very annoying. If you can find an old version at a yard sale or on eBay I would recommend skipping this. My husband and I, both adults, had a difficult time with the new design. I can't imagine young children playing this without some frustration.

You Can't Go Wrong with Battleship, July 15, 2011
I bought this set so my son could use it when he went to his father's or his friends' houses. It's smaller than the one I remember as a kid, making it easier to travel with. It's not really all that durable, but then you probably aren't going to give it to a toddler to play on or have an army man war on it. It serves its purpose and the price is on par with the product.

This was a Christmas gift for my eight year old son. He loves playing with it. The guns are durable, work as they are supposed to, and are tons of fun. They also seem to work with our neighbors laser tag set, and I don't think he has the nerf brand, but I could be wrong.

The only drawbacks are that it takes a ton of batteries. Six per gun. Also, when set to indoor play, it seems that the guns can tag each other through walls. Other than that, these guns have been perfect. Great buy.

This transformer lists the age appropriate for children as 3-6. I really think a 3 year old might be a bit frustrated, unless they were extremely transformer - mechanically minded. Our 8 year old finds this a bit too simple, so the 4, even 7 year old range would fit. At least this isn't the terribly complicated transformer that our family has given up on- so at least it is playable by all and has proved very durable.

i gave it to my son for his 4th bday. its almost a month now and it is still in one piece. he has tossed it dragged it on the ground pulled on its parts and its still going. lasted a lot longer than i thought. he has no trouble using it either. its simple to transform which is the main reason i bought it. great quality for a good price.

A Game of Customizable Battle Tops

For those who are unfamiliar, Beyblade is a twenty-first-century reinvention of the classic game, "Battling Tops." The game is adapted from a wildly popular manga and TV series, "Beyblade," in which characters pit high-tech tops (called "Beys") against one another in staged battles. Two Popular Beyblade Tops

The Triple Battle Set comes with two of the most popular Beyblade tops: the Galaxy Pegasus and the Meteo L-Drago. A great addition to their Bey collection, September 3, 2011

My kids are seven and ten. They have been collecting Beyblade for more than a year. Between them, this is their third stadium and I can't count how many Beys. They love the Beys from this Triple Battle Set. According to them, the new Beys spin faster and attack more than their other Beys. They claim it's the new tips on the bottom that help do this. Of course, combining this with their other Beys is so much fun.

My daughter loves the new stadium, because it comes with interchangeable plates for the floor that cause the Beys to spin more wildly. My son doesn't like that feature. He says it disrupts the spin. (I know, that's the point!) However, he is fighting to keep it, so I'm not sure how much he actually dislikes it. It is a small stadium, but there's plenty of room for battle.

UPDATE: I've played the Beys on different stadiums with my children, including the one in this triple battle set. I don't agree with them that the floor inserts cause the Beys to spin more wildly. They seem to get stuck in the grooves, some more than others. That disrupts their path, but it doesn't throw them wildly around the stadium as they had suggested (unless one counts the collisions with the other Beys that this may enhance).

I do like the smaller stadium because the Beys have a more active battle, but the Beys spin longer in the larger stadium. I guess that's why my son prefers the larger stadium.

Love Beyblade, but the stadium's no fun..., September 28, 2011

My 9 year-old son is a huge Beyblade fan. He has more than a dozen tops and a couple of stadiums, and has had hours of fun over the last year customizing his Beys and battling with his friends. Needless to say, we were very excited to get this new Triple Battle Set. Unfortunately, it hasn't been as enjoyable as we hoped.

The two exclusive Beys included with this set, Galaxy Pegasus and Meteo L-Drago, are fantastic. Pegasus spins right, while L-Drago spins left, making for some spectacular battling action. I was pleased to see that this season's tops have been redesigned to eliminate some of last year's less desirable features. There's no easy-to-destroy rubber tip on the bottom of Pegasus anymore, and the stickers that used to be put on top of the Beys and rippers have been replaced by screen printed character logos. These Beys can spin long and hard, and we love them.

The problem? The stadium isn't really much fun. In theory, it's designed with three interchangeable centers so that you can customize your battle arena, but it only took us a few minutes to realize that all three centers produce the same result: the Beys get stuck in the grooves in the center and stop prematurely. No long, tense battles, and fewer dramatic collisions between tops. My son quickly put the Triple Battle stadium away and went back to his older stadiums.

Though we love Beyblades, I wouldn't really recommend this product. The stadium is a disappointment, and the MSRP of $35-40 is way too high when you consider that most of the big box retailers sell basic stadiums for $10 and 2-packs of Beys for $15. Buy wisely and have fun battling!

The triple battle set has everything required for one or two people to play. Included are two Beyblades with zipsticks, a stadium and three interchangeable centerpieces, each of which has its own unique set of grooves designed to modify the Beyblade behavior.

While this is good, I like the Super Vortex Stadium better because it's circular all the way around, which permits the Beyblades to keep going for a while at top speed. In this particular set, the grooves in the interchangeable centerpieces coupled with the hex-nut-like shape of the stadium cause the Beyblades to lose some of their momentum.

Fun-tastic new blaster from NERF!, September 14, 2011
When NERF announced the Vortex line of blasters earlier in the year, and that the disc-shaped foam projectiles were going to be used, I was skeptical. I thought, why would they abandon the tried-and-true darts and go with discs? It just didn't seem possible that the discs would be as accurate as the darts.

Well, a week after getting my Nitron and playing with it, I am a firm convert. This thing ROCKS! This is the first NERF blaster (that's not modded) where I can get the projectiles to go consistently where I aim the blaster. And while the discs in flight seem deceptively slow, it's still fast enough to smack you, right when you think "that thing's so slow, I can easily move out of the way (à la Neo in the Matrix movies!). Since I've gotten the Nitron, I've also picked up the Vigilon, Proton, and Praxis from a local store, and I can attest that they all shoot accurately, despite the Nitron being a flywheel blaster and the other three being spring-powered.

This thing is just FUN.

I have two minor complaints. OK, they are not really complaints, they are more of observations. First, because the discs spin rapidly when you shoot them, whey they hit the target, they don't just fall down or bounce down like the darts, instead they ricochet off at an angle and end up far from where you hit. In our office we've lost disproportionately more discs than we have with the foam darts. The other observation is the cost of the replacement discs. At the local store, it's 10 for $6. A bit pricey, considering how easy it is to lose them.

Very highly recommended!

I've had the great joy of playing around with nerf guns ever since my childhood. They've always been nerf darts, and would *sometimes* stick to surfaces.

Now it seems that a new era of nerf warfare has begun. The Nerf Nitron shoots out brightly colored green discs.

Accuracy: The Nerf Nitron uses an "accelerator" which basically means that the disc is spun inside the round plastic section right above the disc cartridge. This is primarily what the 6 C batteries are for. The disc is then shot out. However, the accelerator makes the disc shoot out a little bit towards the right, so the gun will never shoot in a straight line. It's easy enough to compensate for, but not perfect.

Scope: Useless and feels cheap. It flashes green.

Range: The spinning disc flies pretty far. In my home tests, the disc will lose about a foot of height after the first 20 feet or so. Certainly much better than nerf darts!

Construction Quality: Not bad, though as previously mentioned, the scope is poorly crafted. The rear end of the gun is huge, but it's perfect for resting against your shoulder.

This is my son's review of this Nerf product:

This Nerf gun is fantastic! Everything about it is cool. It shoots automatically and has great distance each shot. There's only two things I don't like about it. One, if you're shooting inside your house you can lose the discs (bullets) very easily. They basically bounce off every wall you have in your house! The second one, the laser sights that come with this gun aren't very useful. It's basically a flashing green light with low visibility. Once again this guns range is incredible! If you really want to test it go outside on a nice day with no wind and fire away!. My guess would be this gun shoots between 35-50 feet! It shoots farther than any other of my Nerf guns! My rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I love this thing! My neighbor's boys have Nerf rifles that shoot bullet-shaped Nerfs. This, to me (of course I'm about 6-times older than they are) is better. Shooting 2-inch Nerfrizbies about 20-feet with accuracy. Really cool! The sights are a bit off since the Nerfrizbies come out towards the left, but that's easy to adapt to. The scope is stupid, doesn't do a thing but light up uselessly and I no longer know where it is (I also seem to have lost one of the Nerfrizbies...). BTW: do not shoot your wife when she steps out of the bath (at least not from a close distance!)!
I don't know if kids would like this or not. There is something appealing about loading up bullet-shaped Nerfs and blowing away your closest friends. That can not be done with this one. Great for playing with the cats, though!

Despite all the technological wizardry of X-Boxes and Wiis, I think many families miss out on the basic joy of the classic board games. We bought Scrabble last week to replace our aging edition and have been playing every night for the first time in years, mainly to the loss of watching mindless TV shows.

You don't have to been a grammar master to win at Scrabble - you just need some luck with the tiles and some strategy with using the bonus squares. Some games are faster and high scores rack up easily while in others its painfully hard to build any points at all - it's all part of the game and gives everyone a shot at winning. Naturally, we've had our fair share of arguments about whether a certain word is allowed so be sure to keep a dictionary handy.

Overall, Scrabble is great entertainment for all ages and certainly a fun way to spend a few hours with your family.

First of all this toy is awesome!!!!! i knew i had to pick him up sooner or later i had 2nd thoughts of getting this toy, but i was like why? its megatron!!!! he's small and i wish he was a leader class instead we got 3 sentinel prime, ironhide and of course the fan favorite bumblebee... i like bumblebee not going to lie but there's a lot of him in this franchise, but yeah overall megatron is BA he turns into a mack truck if he was bigger like optimus prime well you know! (I can't tell you too much of this toy seeing how its still in a box ahaha) if you get a chance to pick up megatron, well that's if you can find it in stores now, since it basically sold out GET IT! i got mine for 17.99 and people are scalping these for what? 34.99, look around because people never seem to order from kmart i don't know why but they are the last resort and they have these toys less than 34.99 hope this helps...

This toy is awesome i put it on my shelf after my little brother played with it and mom walks in she goes "this is the coolest one Ive ever scene" The truck mode is perfect.In robot form its so far the best megatron we got. Its a great product anyone besides the auto-bots would love it. Also the pieces are very strong. You really dont need the instructions its very easy. I recommend it. Buy it !!

This megatron is the best out of the movie lines. Symetrical arms (Finally) Love the detail, Cowl/Cloak, and the fusion cannon. Love how his face is still tore up from the last movie. The trailer can move (Turn) Even though this process is not used in transformation. and the cowl doesnt snap in on the vehicle mode but i dont see anyone playing with this upside down -_- I would recommend this

A must have from the Dark of the Moon line, June 5, 2011

After looking through quite a few stores, I finally ran into this figure. He is REALLY hard to find (7 stores and there was only 1 Shockwave), but boy was he worth it! The figure is amazing, with very few flaws, none of which detract from the figure.

Pros
- Awesome robot mode, and a surprisingly good Cybertronian Tank mode.
- Light piping in his eye is amazing, it's far better and more noticeable than any other figure that it.
- Holds quite a few poses
- No balance issues
- Very durable
- Simple but fun transformation, it should be good for kids, but require a little guidance.
- Very unique appearance and paint scheme, there isn't another figure that looks like him.
- His right hand can fold up to form his classic gun arm, complete with the hose attachment (Great homage to his old G1 self, but with a modern feel).

Cons
- His cannon can only attach to his right arm, it won't fit on the left.
- Hose attachment can limit his range of motion on his gun arm.

I really can't stress how great of a figure he is. I recommend him for anyone who loves transformers, kids (may require guidance) or collectors alike. If you manage to find him, snag him! He's worth every penny.

Edit: He's more expensive on Amazon than he is in stores currently, so if you can manage to find him in stores, get him there. If you can't find him locally, he'll be quite a bit more online.

Behold...A Shockwave for 2011...., June 4, 2011

First...a bit of back-history before I plunge into this review. Long before there was a Bayverse, or Bayformers...or whatever your chosen epithet is, there was good ol' G1. And let me tell you, folks. Some of those G1 Transformers were hard as heck to get. Some...because they were just super-cool, like Soundwave and his cassette tape minions. And others...well...because they were a bit...controvertial. Brandishing G1 Megatron in an airport would cause a whole lot of confusion, if you catch my drift. It's no surprise that...up till now...we've only seen 'Cybertronian Tank' mode from Megatron.

And so, what goes around, comes around. Dark of the Moon is coming out soon, and we've got Shockwave. Who also, in his G1 mode, transformed into a big fraggin gun. Not as realistic a gun as Megatron...but a gun, nonetheless. Back in the day, G1 Shockwave was hard to find. As I recall, it was a day trip to the state capitol, hitting department store after department store until contact was made.

And let me tell you, finding DOTM Shockwave was one heck of a hunt. But make no mistake. He's awesome. And this is coming from someone who limited my Transformer buying during the last movie to Leaders (Prime, Jetfire, Starscream) Human Alliances, and some Voyagers.

In fact, the only three in the new series I had my eye on were Leader Sentinel Prime, Voyager Megatron, and Voyager Shockwave.

Ok. With all that aside, let me dig into the figure itself.

Robot mode is awesome...hints of G1 with organic touches. Shockwave comes off as BIG EVIL...from his one, very alien..very robotic looking eye to a metallic ribcage running down his chest. Big cannon on his right arm with a jacked up looking War Machine-esque ammo/energy loader locked on. And the packaging really shows this off. Voyagers are packed like mini-leaders in this assortment, with skylights in the box that shows off the details of the figure nicely.

Alt-mode...well...it's a Cybertronian Tank. I don't know if that has significance to the movie, or if it's just the fact that they had to come up with something for ol' Shocky to transform into that wasn't a big honking gun. Personally, I really don't have a problem with that. It's a better mode than Megatron's previous tank modes, and it sort of suits the character.

To make a long story short, this is one awesome voyager. He makes me hope that there might be a Leader conversion in the near future.

But just in case there isn't....I'm glad I got this guy. Recommended to all Transformer fans out there.

I was delighted with this toy. It was a gag gift for a co-worker, but it worked better than I could have hoped. The suction cups stick very well to glass and smooth surfaces and it is easy to reload. You have to cock the gun between each shot and if you go too fast it could jam, but it is accurate and the "bullets" don't hurt even at a close range. A great toy for all, even "grown-up" kids.

It's been quite a few years since Nerf introduced this weapon. Its outstanding fire rate, decent ammo capacity, ease of loading, durability and ambiguous looks have netted it nearly unmatched popularity. Now, years later, Nerf has introduced a plethora of new ways to stick suction darts to windows, so is this venerable gun still worth the slim price?

Yes, it is. I'll start with some attributes: fire rate, power, capacity, and value.

First up is fire rate. This is where the maverick truly shines. When this gun made its debut, the commercial described it as having "rapid fire action". I never thought I'd say this about a Nerf commercial, but it was an understatement. This gun's fire rate is unmatched by any non-battery powered gun its price. Granted, that makes for a small category, but once you get the hang of the cocking mechanism, you can unleash four darts in just over a second. Now that's impressive.

Next up: power. The Maverick packs a punch that is inferior to that of the Recon Cs-6 and its clip-compatible cousins, but it still isn't bad. However, the clip guns do have accuracy problems at long range. Not this gun!

That brings us to capacity. The Maverick shoots six darts. That's invariable. You can't put in some fancy special clip to boost the capacity. However, ease of reloading means that you can refill your magazine quickly, compensating for that.

Finally, what's the value for money of the Maverick? This gun isn't great for long-distance target shooting, but it should rule a Nerf war, although I can't say that from much experience. That said, ten dollars is a steal.

So is this gun better then the Spectre or the Barricade? I don't know, but unlike a lot of current guns now, the Maverick is compatible with almost any dart in the Nerf arsenal, lending it versatility. Best option or not, this is easily a five-star product and a great effort by Hasbro.

We have 5000 sq ft office space and 25 employees. I ordered 15 of and acted as 'arms dealer'. Every person in the office requested one after they saw it in action (I 'sold out' in 5 minutes. I have to say that this is the perfect nerf gun for cubicle warfare. It's small, cheap, durable, and shoots with the perfect amount of power (for the office). Buy extra whistling darts. It's hilarious to see a single dart whistle across the office followed by 15 reprisal shots coming from all directions. I will buy more as our company continues to expand.

15 out of 15 that I ordered arrived well packaged and working perfectly out of the box.

I have no complaints!

THE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS TOY IS THAT THE TIPS OF THE BAYBLADE WONT GET DAMAGED LIKE IT HAPPENS WHEN THEY USE THEM ON THE FLOOR, PLUS WE BOUGHT A REGULAR SPINNING TOP AND IT WAS SPINNING INSIDE THE STADIUM FOR AS LONG AS U CAN IMAGINE, IT WAS FUN EVEN FOR MY HUSBAND AND I TO WATCH. Every day he wants to play with them and take them to school. Make sure you keep the arena away from foot traffic because it wont survive being stepped on. This basically involves spinning tops "battling" each other to see which one will stop first. Very simple, but he loves them. Had them for a month and hasnt tired of them yet.

My daughter got the Beyblade Vortex Battle Set for her birthday and she fell in love with Beyblade. Her brother was thrilled with her present, also!

The set comes with a small stadium and two battling tops. It's a nice neat little package, with everything one needs to immediately begin the battles.

My son subsequently went out and bought his own Beyblades and Beyblades 2010 Metal Fusion Beystadium Lightning Force . It's larger than this Vortex stadium, which allows for more interesting battles. The kids have not played with this stadium ever since.

This is a good starter set, but once the kids have a larger stadium, this stadium will become history.

Great Classic Children's Game, December 23, 2010
I played this game all the time when I was a kid. It was one of me and my sister's favorites, so I got it for my daughters. It is a very simple game so that even my almost-3-year-old can grasp the concept pretty well. It also teaches numbers, taking turns, and that there are consequences for your actions. If your game piece lands on a picture of you doing something bad, you get punished by going back toward the beginning, and if you land on a good deed, you go up toward the end. This is a great game for all ages, and the younger children have just as much chance of winning as anyone else, which is a plus.

Its a nice bright looking game board and the pictures of the chldren are cute. Its a good game to play with a mixed age group of grownups, preschoolers and older children. It doesn't take too long unless everyone lands on the big chute! (my daughter is still new to it so we don't make it so you have to get the exact number at the end and that shortens it too)

The board has 100 spaces. Its a little tricky for preschoolers to figure out which direction to move as you get up the board - the numbers are on it but 3-4 year olds need some guidance which direction to count along so not something they can do on their own.

Its a spinner not a die - a little easier for those who havent mastered dice to number conversion yet.

Overall a good first board game for a preschooler.

I miss the old style game I played when I was a kid, but this one still gets the job done. I use it as an educational tool (I'm a school counselor) and it helps kids understand that their actions have consequences that can be good or bad.

These darts work for any CS style dart gun. Which of course you should be using the Alpha Trooper or the Raider depending on what size you want. Both are about the same, Raider is larger and holds more darts, Alpha Trooper looks cooler, smaller (fits in a backpack) and shoots about the same.

The darts themselves are the standard darts, nothing special. You should buy this, its cheap.

I am very happy that they sell replacement darts for the Nerf N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster as some of the darts may get lost. I am disappointed that we have had to replace 2 darts in only 2 uses of the gun because they were damaged by the gun itself and now get stuck if we continue to try to use the damaged darts. I do wish they were less expensive.... we had to pay 1/2 of what we paid for the Nerf N-Strike Raider Rapid Fire CS-35 Dart Blaster just for a replacement set of darts (that gun holds 35 darts)

Snagged for $89.99!! I'll give it another chance!!, December 21, 2010
I had orginally purchased this in 2008 for around $130.00 at target. I was astonished how much it is now with the re-release just two years later at $180.00. The one I purchased in 2008 at Target was missing the rear exhaust panel "the panel with the six circular shapes". It had really bad landing gear. They would literally fall off, and a misshapen cockpit window. Needless to say, it went back to the store. This was supposed to be the holy grail of Toy Star Wars Vehicles. It was not... Fast Forward 2 years. Everyday I would watch Amazon for price drops on this. I knew it would come. Sure enough, saw it for $89.99 last week. It's worth this price and I snatched it up. I am actually pretty impressed compared to two years ago. The landing gear is pretty snug this time around, the pieces are all there, but the cockpit window is still a little misshaped. If only Hasbro would make the window out of a harder plastic, redesign the hinge, and put some snaps on it. Overall, this time around, I'm pretty satisfied with this. Getting it for $89.99 was a steal. I love Amazon, but their prices fluctuate constantly, so keep an eye out if there is an item you want. When it's at the price you want, you better go for it.

Hmm. Since I have posted this now, Amazon will probably reduce the price on it to $19.99. LOL

Now if Hasbro would only reissue or remake an awesome G.I Joe Skystriker!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased this on sale with a little trepidation due to the complaints about the landing gear and 'soft' plastic. However, the toy is an absolute blast and the landing gear work fine. A few items to note:

- Granted, the instructions are a little unclear, but it's fairly obvious that the landing gear are mated to a specific location underneath the Millennium Falcon. In other words, each landing gear is unique to its location. They will immediately fall off if the incorrect landing gear is positioned in the wrong spot. It took me a minute to figure this out, but after positioning everything correctly, the toy is very stable. If you need to turn the Millennium Falcon, lift it and turn... if you turn it directly on the carpet, the landing gear will fall off.
- The detail is great. Stickers are a little tricky to put on, but patience is the key.
- Great lights and sound effects. Some of the smaller pieces (chess pieces, missiles) will probably be lost if you're not careful.
- Lots of compartments and storage areas. There's a spot for almost all of your action figures (assuming you have less than 20).

Overall, an incredible toy if you can find it at the right price. If you take care of it, it will provide years of fun for your kids.

This was a Christmas gift for our son a couple of years ago, and it still has a prominent place in his room (he is now 7). At a recent sleepover, all of his friends played with it...major "wow" factor among these Star Wars junkies! It's too big to carry around or anything, but he enjoys playing with all of his Star Wars characters on it and using the sound effects to act out scenes from the movies.

Pros: Action figures fit easily into the gaming area, sound effects are great, overall is very well made and sturdy.

Cons: The landing gear does not fit correctly as other reviewers have mentioned, but when you get them into place - it will snap together.

Despite these flaws, it is worth the $$. My 9 year old received the toy as a gift 3 years ago and still plays with it!

Good for the littler ones
My son is 4 years old, so he has never seen either of the Iron Man movies. However, due to media merchandising and having older cousins, he is enamored with the character. It seems little boys and super heroes are meant to be together. So as a reward for good behavior, we got him this Iron Man toy. We picked this one because it has a more cartoon-like appearance and doesn't have any small parts for his younger sister to choke on. He LOVES this toy and has taken him everywhere. The only thing that is frustrating to him is the fact that the wings/rocket pack thing pop off a little too easily. I think they are only held on magnetically and are constantly falling off when he plays with it. Other than that, it's very cute, makes a bunch of sounds and lights up (but isn't too loud or obnoxious). We've been using the phrase "hero up" quite a lot these days to get him to remember that he needs to behave and not have any tantrums. We're happy with the purchase.

Fun toy but wings fall off
My three year old son loves this toy. It was definitely worth the small cost. However, the wings do seem to fall off easily and for a young child that can get annoying or frustrating. He usually leaves the wings off and plays with it like an airplane. I would definitely buy it again. It is a much better option for smaller kids than the Iron Man action figures.

It's fun but...
My daughter is crazy about Iron Man, so we bought this for her. I liked it because it was more cartoon like and didn't have the small parts that the other action figures had. She loves it, it lights up and makes a lot of noise (but not too annoying for us to listen to). The only complaint that I have is the same as the other reviewers...the wings fall off very easy. The design has the two light things (sorry, I don't watch it so I don't know what they actually do) that will fold down, but if you do it pulls the wings off. The only thing that holds the wings in place are two very small short posts, so they slide out easy. It isn't the greatest design for them. I'd just super-glue them on, but the battery panel is under them, where it detaches. So instead to help keep them on I got some two-sided velcro and put some on his back and the wings and now it stays on better. So in short, she L-O-V-E-S her Iron Man toy. If the wings falling off gets too annoying, you can always just take them off and leave them off.

I was a little worried that this would be Hasbro typical plastic junk with a $100 price tag on it. NOT AT ALL! This toy is AWESOME and huge! I mean HUGE - like the size of a labrador retriever!!! My son worked all summer to buy this and was VERY pleased with it. Took about 20 min to put together and add stickers... which didn't say where to put them... so we just guessed! Overall the AT-AT is really durable, but VERY heavy. My only issue with it is the hatch on the bottem pops off a little too much, and to replace it, you have to flip it over or get on the floor with it and pop it back in. Also, there is a Handle that guides the head's movement, when you press the handle IN to lock the head in place it can become unlocked with a simple touch or knock to the toy- which makes the head bob around.... hopfully that won't be an issue later on!

Good toy - buy it for your kids... or men folk... its WELL WORTH the $100!

Any aspiring Emperor (or even an apprentice) must learn the value of mechanized infantry support vehicles. While crushing the life from your foes using only the raw power of the dark side of the force is immensely rewarding, not even the darkest of the dark can summon enough power to throttle whole squadrons of cowardly rebels at once. Lurking in hardened underground lairs, frequently on inhospitable planets, these sort of vermin must be answered with an iron fist--but in the form of the formidable Imperial AT-AT. Spewing hot death from it's twin, side mounted blaster cannons, the AT-AT has the firepower, maneuverability and versatility to bring destruction to all who resist your might.

Nothing brings more satisfaction (the closest thing to fun that an Imperial commanding officer feels) than watching properly equipped mechanized death machines mow down the enemies of the Empire. The AT-AT is just such a machine. It is rumored to have caused even Lord Vader himself to crack a smile.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE: 5 Stars

There is no greater privileged in life than passing on valuable life lessons to the younger generations. How to successfully crush a well hidden rebel base using brilliant tactics and war machines is necessary for raising up the next generation of ruthless, committed decision makers that the Empire will need to expand through the known universe.

DURABILITY: 5 Stars

Aside from a tow-cable weakness exploited by cowardly rebel pilots unable and unwilling to fight toe-to-toe with the mighty AT-AT, the durability of the AT-AT is unsurpassed. Capable of crushing enemies with its giant feet or burning them to cinders with its cannons, the AT-AT is a fighting machine without rival. Thick plating and armored joints ensures that even steady enemy fire will not bring it to it's knees. Just keep an eye out for those insect like Snowspeeders and their pathetic tow cables. The Emperor now suggests that all AT-ATs be accompanied by ground based anti-aircraft infantry units to prevent needless tow-cable related mishaps.

OVERALL: 5 Stars

Peerless as suppressing and eliminating cowardly rebels, the Empire salutes the AT-AT as it's assault and transport vehicle of choice. Aspiring dark lords, grand admirals, and apprentices would do well to arm themselves with as many as their slave planets, plunder, and tribute payments can support. Bend the will of all those who resist you. Destroy and humiliate your enemies. Let the AT-AT demonstrate to the universe that you will not be denied.

This AT-AT is a real imperial combo. Oh hasbro you've done it this time! It's literally actually against the law in toys. It has opening head, body and rear, nearly 2 FEET TALL! Has opening windows, a mechanical grappling hook for Luke rising up to attack the belly of the beast! But it's still a little slow. It takes at least 8 seconds. But it still does it's job. AND, it includes an Imperial Hoth Speeder Bike. AND an AT-AT Driver. It also has sound effects. On the top it has 3 buttons. 1 makes a medium blaster sound. The 2nd makes a walking sound. The 3rd makes chin gun sounds. If you hold down either the chin gun or medium blaster button, they play phrases. In the head is a button with at least 20 phrases! (literally) in the body, it has a button that when you press it, a red luminescent light flickers on. But that's just 1 out of at least 10 phrases. In the back, when you deploy the speeder bike with the button, it makes a sound. And did I mention doors on both sides open? And did I mention that 2 grappling cranks with handles come out of both sides to retract and deploy your troops. Well, that's it on the Hasbro 2010 AT-AT Walker.

I bought this toy for my grandson who is 7. He saw it in an ad and wanted it for his birthday. He was so excited when he opened it! It was relatively easy to put together, and so far, it has been sturdy and fun for him to play with. I would highly recommend it for other young boys who are getting into Star Wars now.

A Must See Item To Believe Its Worth, September 25, 2010

I had seen this item in stores and had read several reviews on message boards, websites (including Amazon) and watched reviews on YouTube. Although every single review praised this item, this really is one item where you must see it in person to behold its true worth. I went weeks with always being on the fence in buying it. I even had it in a shopping cart and was one person away from checkout/paying, got cold feet and ended up chickening out to purchase it. Had I known then what I know now in how this toy really is, I never would think twice about owning it. This AT-AT is simply jaw-dropping amazing from head to toe. I really wish I could have gotten it earlier like when it first came out last month. I can't believe I was missing out on all its heavenly glory all this time.

This mammoth toy is AWESOME! Awesome in size, awesome in features, awesome in durability and awesome in all its breathtaking glory. Some assembly is required. It only consists of snapping the AT-AT's feet to the legs, attaching all four legs to the main body, and attaching the head/front shoulder base to the main base of the body. Once fully assembled, only then can one really witness the sheer size of this AT-AT. It really dwarfs the 80's original and the POTF 90's reissues. When I see something like this in this size, I am reminded of the great vintage titan toys of the 80's that Hasbro produced: G.I. Joe's U.S.S. Flagg and Defiant Space Station, Transformer's Fortress Maximus. This AT-AT "playset" will definitely rank with those iconic titan playsets when all is said and done.

The AT-AT is very durable. The plastic is high quality ABS plastic, equivalent to that of kitchen utensils. The hatches that open throughout the vehicle have the current trend of "fail-safing", meaning that if you over-extend the hatch it will safely detach without breaking any hinges. The legs are very sturdy and have ratchet joints. The AT-AT will not topple over easily as the legs have a high level of durability in each limb. The feet are very large and bring forth the iconic look from the movie. Any "fragile" items like guard rails or small turrets are made of a very flexible plastic. A 4-year old could play with this AT-AT and still have a hard time trying to break something. The only thing that I found that might be an issue later concerning durability is the neck area. The outside surface of the neck is not molded plastic like the originals or reissues. The outside is made of a very soft rubber which I fear through age and wear could eventually crack. Unless kept in temperature controlled settings over time, this rubber area will definitely crack or decompose.

Playability is solid. The AT-AT features dozens of sounds effects ranging from laser fire, to the mechanical walking sounds, all the way to individual speech clips taken from the movie. There has to be at least more than 20-25+ different sound effects and each is vibrant, clear and loud. The AT-AT's head has room to hold 6 total figures. It has two seats upfront to hold two AT-AT drivers. (1 AT-AT driver is included.) There are working electronics inside the head as there is a navigation bluescreen that can be used by an AT-AT Commander. The navigation bluescreen comes with a sticker that shows the targeted Hoth Rebel Base Generator. As mentioned earlier with the sound effects, this navigation screen interacts with a few of the speech clips and will actually luminate and light up. The inside body has a double deck quarters area where troops can gather complete with working electronics and a lighting alarm. Towards the rear is an opening hatch which houses room to hold a few more Snowtroopers along with the included Speeder Bike. The Speeder Bike is held on a vehicular ramp which retracts backward to help launch the vehicle into battle, complete with electronic sound effects mimicking Speeder Bike sounds. I was able to store a total of 15 figures in my AT-AT without compromising appearance and realism. (2 AT-AT drivers in the driver's seats, 1 AT-AT Commander navigating behind the drivers, 8 Snowtroopers in the main body and 4 more Snowtroopers in the rear quarters.) I believe when all the hatches are open, more than 20+ figures can be affixed to figure pegs.

For a SMRP of $99.99, Hasbro seriously is offering this at a steal. Again, I have to iterate that you really have to see this toy in person to witness how awesome it is. After seeing it out of the box and actually being able to experience all its features in person, I feel that I could've easily paid more and still would have been extremely satisfied. I've had it less than 24-hours at my home and had a few friends over to hang out. Without telling them to look at it, the AT-AT immediately caught their attention and they couldn't take their eyes and hands off of it. If you want something in your home that can easily impress your guests as a display piece, this is definitely one solid choice. My friends who witnessed the AT-AT aren't even serious Star Wars fans and yet they were in complete awe of this playset! That's how striking this toy looks to people in person!

This is definitely one item that you do not want to miss out on. I know this has been said time and time again about this item, but it really is true; "This is not your father's AT-AT."

In summary, here's the pro's and con's I rated with this AT-AT:

1. Humongous size
2. Very durable in construction and plastic quality
3. Very well diversified electronics sound effects/speech
4. Lots of features to keep even busy adults entertained for hours

1. Outer material of neck is made of flimsy rubber (which could deteriorate after time)
2. Only 1 included action figure (Should have at least included 2 drivers or at least 1 driver + 1 commander.)
3. Speeder Bike mold is not the same mold from the vintage versions. (It does not have the explode feature and is made of flexible plastic.)

I got the stampede a few days ago and i love it. Its prety heavy but it makes up for it because its fully automatic. I got mine in N.Z. at farmers for $100 (yes america you do get things cheaper) and the batteries are a bout ten buckaroos. the blast shield onlyworks well if your lying down. I got it 'cause my friend got it and hegot it cause his friend got it. the 18 dart clips a good idea but picking the up is a pain. the bipod is the 2nd reason you should get this other than it being fully automatic. it can atach to most guns and works well. the blast sheild is a bit wobbly on some guns and it block the aim on the stampede. ( to those who think that they dont need to use the sight to aim cuase their so pro will be dissapointed when they cant)

i have a lot of nerf guns and theis is the best so buy it or keep on being destryed by peope who do

Ive been collecting nerf guns for years. so I naturaly jumped on this one. I was very happy to find an extremely well built weapon, with a great look.

PROS:
1. the construction is sound, and the internals are well built.
2. direct plunger system, like the long shot
3. lots of moding potential.
4. looks amazing
5. full auto.
6. 18 dart clips
7 comes with 3 clips AND a standard clip (with enough darts)
8. can sustain full auto without jams like the vulcan

CONS:
1. the ROF is not as fast as it could have been
2. impossible to use without batteries (possible mod could fix this)
3. uses 6x D's
4. very back heavy due to bateries
5. range is quite low, will require modification.

Fun When it Doesn't Jam, September 26, 2010

Overall, I love this gun. It looks cool, it has good distance, and fun to use.

I do have some complaints however. First off, it's prone to jams...or at least mine is. I've had at least 3 or four of my darts jammed in there so bad I had to break them apart to get them out. Not sure if it is something I'm doing wrong, if it is I'm more than open to advice. I've noticed it jams more when I use drum mags.

Another complaint I have is that besides the top tactical rail, the rest are kinda useless. I mean, they can fit the shield and bi-pod fine...but I have other accessories like the flashlight and laser pointer and neither one fit any rail except for the top one. Not a huge deal by any means though.

A few other minor pet peeves include the fact that the 18 clip mags are way way too long. They actually take away from the sleek design of the gun. The drum mags work and look much better, unfortunately I've had so much jamming with those that I stopped using them. The bi-pod/handle detaches really easily, so I stopped using that as well. Lastly, the included shield looks kind of stupid on the gun. I know a lot of people like it, I guess it's just personal taste.

Anyways, you're probably thinking I have a lot more negative things to say about this gun than positive. But the fact is, the positives way outweigh the negatives. The jamming may not be wide spread because I haven't heard many complain about it...so maybe it's just mine and really it doesn't jam often enough to make me hate this gun...just enough to be inconvenient. The design is super sleek (besides the giant clips), and this gun is an absolute blast to shoot. You actually feel like you're shooting a real assault rifle. Basically, I think that every Nerf lover needs this gun. I'm happy to see Nerf improving in leaps and bounds. The Vulcan was a huge step for them and the Stampede is another. Now all they need is a gatling gun with like 8 barrels that can shoot out like five hundred darts per minute. haha.

Overall, the Stampede ECS is a lot of fun, but probably not for everyone.

According to the Amazon.com product page, the Stampede ECS is for Ages 6 and up but the box itself says it's for ages 8+. Once you see how big the box is, you kind of get a feeling that this toy is for the big boys. Before the Stampede arrived I saw the commercials for the blaster (at least I think it was for the same thing) on one of those cartoon channels my kid always watches. So, my kid was somewhat looking forward to it when I told him I was going to get the Stampede ECS. My kid was so excited when he saw the box arrive and kept on wanting to open and play with it, but it was just too big for him to carry around and play. So, if you have kids that are less than 8 years old and don't like to see them disappointed because they can't play with the Stampede, this may not be the right toy for you.

Now, if you're a big boy (or big boy at heart), you are going to enjoy the Stampede ECS. For starters, you should be ready with 6 "D" batteries so you can enjoy this blaster the moment it arrives. You also need a pretty large open space to actually enjoy this because this fires the darts out a long way (I would like to say 25 feet maybe). I have used previous Nerf blasters but none that are automatic. So the ability to fire several darts one after the other is something that was quite entertaining, and I'm sure very useful when playing games against your friends.

For the downside, this thing is quite huge. Depending on how big your kid is, I'm not sure an 8 or 9 year old would enjoy handling this beast. Aside from the size, it's also heavy especially with 6 D batteries. The batteries alone are heavy.

Nerf does such a great job with its dart toys, and this is no exception. It meets all the important criteria: it is fun to play with; it works as advertised; and, it doesn't destroy your house, your child's clothes, or the child. Of course, one of these isn't enough because whether it is your child's friend, cousin, sibling, or you, someone needs to get shot up with these darts and is going to need to defend him/herself. And, do notice, this is a batteries are required toy. It isn't cheap but, like Legos, Lincoln Logs, or just about anything else called "Nerf", this is an adaptive toy that will provide hours of entertainment - and a few laughs.

this was an absolutely gorgeous toy!i got it when it was still 33.95!The blades are a small issue because of articulation being hindered by them.i knew how to remove them, but because it was probably used one of the screws that needed to be removed was completely stripped out of box! luckily we found a store that removed the stripped screw and had new ones.But the toy is wonderfully detailed, lots of fun good sounds.Although i must warn you, the transformation is HARD!!!don't say it is misleading with the age 5+ sign, that is the choking safety sign! at the top right corner it says level 4 transformation witch is the highest level. for difficulty, I'd say 10+.when u learn it it is easy.I learned amazon may be cheaper, but it is safer to buy from Hasbro.if u are the type of parents who are not very good at this type of thing, and u buy it for a five-year-old,u will both be in tears. it is only bad if it is the wrongs parents buying for the wrong kids.

I was never much of a Transformers fan before the first 2007 movie. When I was a kid, I thought the toys were cool but I never owned any. I've bought most of the Leader Class Transformers from both movies and while I very much like the design of all of them (with the exception of Megatron) this version of Optimus is by far the most complex and awesome toy of the bunch. Other reviewers have stated that this is definitely not a toy for 5 year olds. They are correct. I would say the youngest child to actually figure this thing out would have to be around 12 or so. It's just way to complex for most people in general much less little children.

It's best to approach this toy (pretty much all of the Leader Class versions) as if it were an expensive puzzle that you didn't want to break. If you are the impatient type, don't bother. If you have clumsy sausage fingers don't bother either! Considering how complex this toy is, I think it's fair to say that it is very durable. You just have to use some care and think about what's going to happen before you go ripping his arm off. Slow, deliberate movements are what's needed the first few times you change him from robot to truck and then back again. As one person had stated in a previous review, once you have successfully transformed him a few times, it's waaaaay easier to do it again. The same can be said for the other leader class models as well. (Brawl and Ultimate Bumblebee are particularly difficult.) I have deliberately taken several hours to transform all off the transformers I own to avoid breaking them. It paid off. With this version of Optimus (I actually have the "Buster" version. It's the same toy, with the exception of having lots of nice shiny chrome and the added bonus of gigantic cannon that he holds in his right hand.) I spent probably 5 hours transforming him from robot to truck on the first go around. After that, I could do it in less than ten minutes.

Other reviewers have complained about the instructions. They're right when they say they pretty much suck, but they do help. This is a toy that will make you think. I'll be the first to admit that after an hour or so of staring at a series of black & white drawings you may start to think you're never going to get it transformed, but don't give up. Once you've figured it out, you will be quite pleased with yourself! You may also gain an entirely new appreciation of the engineering of this toy. It's truly a work of art. My hat goes off to all the people responsible for creating the most movie realistic version of the mighty Optimus ever made.

The most difficult part of the process for me was transforming his chest area to the truck mode. You actually have to pull each side of his chest out of the slots that they ride in. Once I had figured out what I actually had to do I was terrified that I was going to break it, but I didn't.

Another complaint I've read is the positioning of his extendable swords in robot mode interfering with his movement and posing of his arms. At first it seemed impossible for me to arrange him so that he could still move his arms around when the swords were in their closed position. However, it wasn't. Just be patient, and there actually is a "sweet spot" for both arms to have almost total articulation whether the swords are closed or open. Overall, this character is very posable. Most of the images I've seen of this character don't come close to how cool you can make his stance. Standing bolt upright looks completely dumb!

I wouldn't recommend this toy for daily use either. Its best market is probably for collectors, only to be transformed once in awhile and displayed on a shelf to admire its beauty, accuracy and complexity. I love the commercials that Hasbro had running for these toys. They are completely misleading on how long it takes to change them around. Also, you wouldn't want to be playing with any of these toys in a dirt pile after you dropped almost $50 on it!

Bottom line, it's a great toy for the price but don't give it your 5 year old. If you do purchase it, remember to take your time and just enjoy yourself. It really is a puzzle to be figured out.

Transformers is a well established multigenerational franchise. It appeals to fans and collectors way back from the original 80s merchandise to the modern and contemporary concepts introduced with the latest Michael Bay's movies. This means customers targeting goes from toys designed for small children, all the way up to thirty somethings adult collectors. This Optimus Prime is intended for the last.

To be honest, the design of it is not as complex as some reviewers had tried to point out. Their problem may reside in if they purchased this product for the right targeted age. True, there is also another version of this product labeled on its packaging as suitable for 5 & up years old. But this, obviously, is intended for parents that wants to encourage their children with challenging toys that require a higher degree of care and patience. The fun factor of this kind of product comes not from the time spent playing with it as a toy or action figure, but instead from the time and challenge it requires to transform it from one mode to the other and back. So, as some reviewer compared it to a rubick cube, the fun of it is in the challenge and the satisfaction of acomplishment you get when succedding at the end.

For its complexity and attention to detail, to this day, this might be the more accurate and detailed version of movie Optimus Prime. Very well assembled. High quality materials.

Also, this Buster Prime version has chrome painting and details not found on the regular version, such as a gas tanks that combine to transform in to a gun.

Very recommended for any collector and to any parent that wants to encourage their children to new degrees of patience and challenge.

My 4-year old loves everything Iron Man and this was a nice addition to his collection. The toy is not complicated for him to use and enjoy. Although the glove is way too big for his hand, he still enjoys the toy a great deal. I would recommend this toy for any child that is an Iron Man fan.

I was actually really impressed with this toy. Usually if you want something to "blast", you have to push a button to make it happen. With this one you just tilt your wrist back and it "fires" the blaster. You do have to push a button to shoot the projectiles but that didn't seem to phase my 4 year old. He's had a lot of fun with it. His only complaint, "I need two to be the real ironman" Go figure!

I got this for our son for his 4th birthday and once he put it on, he was chasing us and shooting us with the missiles and laughing hysterically. He loves pretending to blast us and he likes to repeat the couple of things it says ("I am Iron Man"... "Repulsive Blast").
It's a little big for his arm, and the glove that it comes with is also a little big on him. He's also lost one of the four missiles already. It's a fun toy though and he's used it a lot.

My Nephew Loved them!
My 3 year old nephew LOVES transformers....but a lot of the actual "transforma-able" figures out there are still a little difficult for him. He also loves his Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars and would often pretend he was transforming them in to robots. So this was like the best of both worlds! He had cars that looked like the cars from Transformers and the the picture of their robot personas on the the bottom of the car. Easy for him and less stress on the adults to have to constantly transform cars/robots!

Mind the size, its too small
I bought this looking at the product dimension as: 4 x 5.5 x 7.5 inches, thinking each car will be that size.
BUT: Thats the size of the overall box in which they have all 6 cars. Now, you can probably estimate what the size of each car will be :) its about 2.5" x 1" x 1 "
It was a kind of disappointment, as i didnt expect this small cars, Other than that, the cars itself are good, nothing to complain about.

I wore this to the Iron Man II premiere! I'm 19 and unfortunately the back doesn't fit when I wear it. This was unfortunate, but didn't kill it's entertainment value.

I'm a college student and this helmet fits me perfectly. It's not uncomfortable at all. There is a removable plastic adjustable band thing that you can hook on the inside, but I can wear it fine without it too. Of course it fits my head better with it in there, but I won't cry about it if I lose it.
You can open the helmet by lifting up the gold face part and close it by pushing a button on the left ear area. There are sound effects when you do this, which I find fantastic.
I can see perfectly out the helmet and the sounds are not too loud or too soft. Same thing with the lights. Not too bright or too dim.
There is a sort of rubber padding around the cheeks and chin area, but they don't press up against my face. My skin barely touches them.
There's no funny smell in the helmet. It's easy to take off and put on. No difficulty breathing.
I LOVE this helmet! It's so much fun!

A small complaint would be that I wish the helmet would open a bit more.

Bought this from Target and loved it so much I decided to let everyone know how it is like. As an adult, this helmet is awesome especially for Iron Man fans. It is a sturdy and well designed helmet. For a kids toy it looks very close to the real Iron Man Helmet. There are adjustable head straps, a nice flip up visor, there are pads inside the helmet for comfort and protection, and lights that emit from the eyes and sounds with the press of a button. My only two complaints are that the lights are not very noticeable but if they were any brighter, it would probably blind the user. The other is the packaging for the helmet. Beware, it might take some time to get the helmet out of the box unless you break apart the box. There are heavy duty twist ties in the back which made it hard for me to get the helmet out of the box. Overall this is probably one of coolest Iron Man toys I have had, worth the money, and any fan should go buy one now.

As a total fanboy, I love just about anything comic-related. I especially love when I get to dress up like the hero that I'm a huge fan of. Even adults like myself can get their heads in this well-constructed helmet. The sound effects can be a little bracing inside the helmet because they are darned loud, but from kids to adults, this is a very enjoyable toy, even to the adults just want an interesting decorative piece.

Surprisingly cool, January 18, 2010

I passed this one up so many times but finally decided to pick him up after reading the other Amazon reviews. No regrets! Although the vehicle mode looks kind of small considering that it should be a mega-sized dump truck, the robot mode is just thee right size. Robot mode is very imposing with lots of neat details, most notably the "hydraulic" pistons in his arms. Other cool little details are molded in gears and hydraulics. Despite the funky green color, paint details are nice. I like the earth-mover feet too. Proportions in robot mode are great and he appears very hefty and imposing with no strange bulky items hanging off his back like a lot of transformers. Vehicle mode is great with a dump bed that works (sort of). It rolls well and holds together very well without popping apart. The leg transformation is very tricky the first time but once you realize that everything fits together tight and perfect, it's really impressive how they get it to all fit in there. A highly recommended transformer that will look great on display.

This is a nice transformer for throwing around and bashing other toys with, as my son does. It's durable enough to handle lots of crashes. So, for that, it's good.

However, my husband and I have tried to transform it into a truck, and we're convinced it's impossible. We even offered our friend $20 to do it (with directions!) and he couldn't.

So, for that, it stinks.

Overall, it's an OK toy. But there are better transformers out there that transform easier.

The ROTF Constructicon to Get, January 7, 2010

The Constructicons were ridiculously underused in the new movie (honestly, most of them had less than 20 seconds of screen time and some of them didn't even get to transform). Thier toys have been hit and miss as well; Rampage was disappointing, Demolisher was terrible, Mixmaster was decent, but the best of them by far is this one here, Long Haul.

First off, the aesthetics. The figure looks awesome. The design itself is great, it has excellent detailing, and while it could have used a wider range of colors the paint scheme is still very appealing. The Mech Alive gimmick is a bit weak; turning its head from side to side makes a visible gear in its chest rotate. It looks kind of cool but doesn't serve any practical function. The two other gimmicks the figure has are a bit more fun: in its dump truck mode the bed can go up and down, and it has blades in its arms that can be flipped out.

Now for poseability and playability. The figure has exceptional articulation and can be put into all kinds of poses, although the arm and shoulder kibble restrict its movement a bit. Its blade weapons and functioning truck mode bed allow for no end of fun interactions with other figures, although the shoulder and hip joints are a bit too tight. Carelessly handling them will result in the waist disconnecting from the upper torso, but those two components reconnect very easily so it's hardly a problem.

And finally, the transformation and educational value. The transformation is actually quite simple for a figure of this size, although younger children will probably need help from parents to get it (unless your child is a super-genius or an exceptionally fast learner, in which case they're fine). As for educational value... Honestly? Are we really asking what the educational value of giant shape-shifting space robots is? Well, actually, the fairly intricate transformation may help your child develop their problem solving and inference skills, so that might count. If your child is under ten, however, you may want to get them the simpler Fast Action Battler toy rather than this more complex variant.

Overall, Long Haul is a great figure, easily the best of the ROTF Constructicons so far. But when are we going to get Scrapper, Overload, and Hightower? Come on, Hasbro, if you can afford to repaint and re-release Bumblebee dozens of times, surely you can set some time and money aside to give these three decent figures.

Long haul has to be the best voyager class of the TF2 line. He is big, durable and highly articulated. His truck mode rocks with a working truck bed that features realistic hydraulics! Then in robot mode you get a nice G1 green constructicon juggernaut that can do some serious damage to those pathetic autobots or anything else that gets in his way. Overall this figure is one of a few must haves of the decepticon forces!

Be sure to buy 2, January 29, 2010

bought these for my 7 year old nephew for x-mas. He LOVES them! They didn't come with batteries and I forgot to bring some with me when I gave them to him. I'm pretty sure my sister was relieved that I'd forgotten. I brought some over the next time I saw him and, to be honest, I think he would have loved the toy just as much without the sounds. Having said that, this is not one of the most annoying sounding toys out there so either way you should be good. I waited a month to put up the review to see if he'd break them in that short time. They are still intact which is almost shocking. He breaks everything within a few days. That says a lot. If you have a Wolverine fan in your life consider this a must have.

this was a gift for a six year old boy and he loved it. after he opened this all the other gifts got pushed to the side. he played with it the rest of christmas day. I worried about the safety of the toy for accidental injury. Fun toy but would be cautious of the age of the child.

One of them broke. The strap came unstitched after 40 days. My kids love these, but you might want to consider purchasing from somewhere with a 90 day return policy, otherwise you may ending up dealing with the manufacturer. Having said that, I will tell you that they are super cool, and my boys all love them. They are big, there is only one per box, which makes them expensive, and they require batteries. They work okay for my 3-7 year olds. They are easy to use, and pretty good quality, compared to my other kids toys like GI Joe and Transformers. I would also say they are no more dangerous than a plastic sword. I haven't been worried about them hurting each other with them.

good for a Christmas present, but didn't like the disc weapon. It worked only half the time. Mask was cool though.

The mask looks great, is pretty comfortable, and very durable. The repulsor is hard for my 4 year old to load and fire. The repulsor is also a little to big. I give the mask 5 stars and the repulsor 3.

Got it for my son last Christmas. He and his friends really like it I just wish I had waited to purchase it because it's always a bit of a bummer to find it for half price a few months later :/ I'll survive lol but if you're looking for it check Ross first. I saw it for closer to $10 there.

i bought this toy for my 4yr old and he loves it, he didn't loose any of the discs yet (and he had it for almost month, where normally he looses bullets for other toys in a day) he wears masks in the house, outside and after a week of continiuous use you can see that the paint will start to come off but still it's a lots of fun, made very well, no damage after my son droped it of the stairs, outside,

To Play and Have Fun
The Human Alliance movie Transformers are intended to be a cut above the standard Deluxe model Transformer - bigger in size with more detail. They somewhat bridge the gap between big highly detailed figures like Optimus and Megatron and the smaller less detailed Deluxe Bumblebees and Barricades. The Human Alliance BB (Transformers Human Alliance - Bumblebee with Sam) is great, the Sideswipe (Transformers Human Alliance - Sideswipe w/ Sergeant Epps)... not so much. So I wasn't sure what to expect out of Barricade.

For Kids:
In my opinion this guy makes a great companion piece for Bumblebee as they fought in the first movie. He looks cool as a car and transforms fairly easily into a pretty cool robot. Plus he's got a little Frenzy you can flush down the toilet or whatever.

For Adults:
After the disappointment that was Sideswipe I was a bit worried but was relieved to find that Barricade is a very solid figure. In car mode he looks like the tough Saleen police car with plenty of details like the grill on front, police lights and painted license plate. It should be noted he's almost twice the size (maybe a little under) of his deluxe version. All the little painted details like "Police" on the doors and "To punish and enslave" on the back fenders are clean and neat.

Transformation is actually not too bad. After two or three times it's pretty simple, pull the sides apart and the legs down. Unfold the legs and pull apart, pull the roof/back out, flip the head up and rotate the arms. Add several little flips for the details and you're good to go.

Robot mode is where Sideswipe failed but Barricade passes. He looks very close to his move look. There's lots of detail in his face and his jaw actually moves up and down. He arms are impressively massive as they are basically the entire sides of the car but are articulated enough that you can actually get great poses out of him anyway with a ball type shoulder and an elbow that both bends and rotates. He's got a hand on one side and the tire pops forward on the other arm, you flip out a bunch of little spikes and he's got a rotating saw type weapon. The legs appear a bit short compared to the rest of the body but he was designed that way. The only failings so to speak are that the legs are attached at something of a 45 degree angle at the hips which makes them a bit tougher to get into dynamic poses and keep him standing and his waist does not rotate. But there's so much you can do with the head and arms that this is somewhat mitigated.

Human Alliance is the name of the line but it's kind of funny for a Decepticon. Anyway he comes with Frenzy who can hide inside Barricade's chest up under the hood, sit in the car or ride on his shoulder and man a gun up there. Just like the little humans with the other Alliance figures he's not really the highlight here but some may like the addition.

So while he's not Bumblebee he is miles ahead of Sideswipe. He's fun and cool looking in both car and robot mode for kids and adults alike.
