I bought the above picture from an Antique dealer in Toronto. It shows some hatty ladies holding on to their hats on a boat in Hamilton Ontario Canada in the 1920s or early 1930s.

I was paying for the picture as the guy told me the woman at the back was his Grandmother. Well she died before I was born - he said. No sentimentality here. She lives again. They are happy hatty ladies.

Been having some tech problems so I have been up to my **** in Alligators like the guy in the picture from the 1920s. Great straw boater - it was de mode for men in the 20s. Shade of Prohibition in the US. I guess you would not want to drink and train Alligators?

Thanks to all of you for reading this blog or rather mostly looking at it. I plan, starting tomorrow to make regular posts on my new site http://manyhattyreturns.com. I hope that you will follow me on that site. It was quite the effort to figure out the responsibilities of owning my own site and not just rely on blogspot.

There are many reasons to have your own self hosted blog. I have been learning under blogging guru Yaro Starek, a young Australian who has had quite a few years doing internet activities. His theme is monetization of a blog but he also has some excellent guidance on blogging in general. If you or someone you know has an interest in blogging please follow the following link to download Yaro's free e-book. It was quite some time until I signed up for his course, there are a lot of internet cowboys and cowgirls and Yaro's course is good. He preaches hard work for results and not shortcuts and not using article banks etc. This is good advice and I can really recommend the program.

As you read this Yaro and a friend and colleague of his are launching a video how to course on blogging. The videos are excellent and the first module is available for free by clicking on the link on the sidebar on this site. You can also follow the following link:

This early sheet music has a great cover. A wonderful large hat.

It is from the Edwardian period. Nice idea but could women really do what they wanted in that period? We did not even have the vote!

Three years ago I went to Peru and took this great picture of a woman at a Street Market in the Andes. What a great flowery hat and character!

I love her hat, but I have to wonder if she only wore such a thing on very rare particular occasions. Maybe the only reason this lady wanted this photograph taken of herself was because she had this hat! So many questions unanswered.

I believe this to be an Edwardian Hat not a Victorian Hat as described by the original poster to Flickr
