We have all adored the infamous Scalamandre Zebra wallpaper print, but now this print is available in a Fabric Tote with rope handles! Available from Scalamandre directly and from Mecox Gardens. How cute would this be for your summer vacation! The red print was the original color created in the 40's for the owners of the Upper East Side Italian restaurant Gino of Capri, while this restaurant closed a few years ago, this lively print still lives on!

David Cafiero is an interior designer, and gallery/antiques owner whose amazing work has been featured in Lonny, House & Garden, NY Daily News, and WWD to name a few. He is a former New England commercial scallop fisherman who hates television, rarely uses a computer and ran a Soho cafe business before opening his Manhattan East Village art gallery/antique store, Cafiero Select. Some of my favorite images below showcase his great use of color and mixing patterns.

Kelly green walls and wallpapered ceiling complete with framed vintage natural curiosities prints.

Brunschwig & Fils wallpaper covers the room with the pops of yellow. The wallpaper was used to hide some architectural quirks such as a sloping ceiling.

Neutral Schumacher sea grass wallpaper used as neutrality throughout the house to showcase the owners works of art. The texture of the sea grass is forgiving masking nail holes easily as the owners moved the art around.

Love the painted architectural details and the dark wood flooring.

Pop of pink from the small ottoman draws your eyes down instead up to the tv above the mantel.

Been playing with the ever fun Instagram app. I took a few photos from around my house and thought I would share! Happy Thursday and don't forget it's Mother's Day this weekend!!!

I created a mix of blue and white porcelain, and some shells and coral on our mantel.

Small tray vignette from little treasures I have found. The large ivory piece is hand carved bone, I loved all the detail that went into that and found it at an antique store that was closing!

Vintage wine jugs with the white patina. I love how each one you find is so different in shape. When we found these, the lady told us some of the ones they get you can still smell wine inside.

Federal Bullseye Mirrors

Federal Bulls Eye mirrors, or sometimes called Girandole mirrors if candleholders are attached have an eagle at the top which is cohesive with the Federal period. These mirrors have an interesting "wide-angle fish-eye camera lens" concave glass effect which actually served a purpose.

Historically, these mirrors were displayed in dining rooms where entertaining would occur and with the outward bending glass, this allowed the butler to see the entire room (ie. when glasses needed refilling or prevent guests from trying to steal the silver) while staying discreetly out of sight. It was the ultimate domestic surveillance system. I always see a few of these at Scott's Antiques and they are awesome. Now they can be found in living areas above a mantel, in the bedroom, or in the hallway.

Of my goodness, I am so excited the countdown for the Summer Olympics in London! This week marked the 100 day mark, so it's down to double digits now! Mark your calendars for July 27th! I am so excited about the Olympics, wish I was going! I remember when the Summer Olympics were in Atlanta and I lived in South Carolina. My mom and I went to around 5 events and stayed a few days, and what an amazing experience. A few weeks before the Olympic torch ran through my hometown so we went out to see that too!

I can't wait to see what London has in store for the world and for the infamous opening ceremony and what surprises there will be! I really hope we get to see some of the newly married royal couple too!

Amazing Closet Customization

One of my favorite luxury rooms is an insane closet! I love being able to have plenty of room for clothing storage, enough room for my shoes, and organized drawers for accessories! LA based closet designer, Lisa Adams takes customized wardrobe spaces to another level with her firm LA Closet Design. This former chemistry major at UC Berkley refocused her "scientific, neat, left brain" to closet design which leads her to focus her attention to amazing detail such as lighted hanging rods, built in tie cubbies, watch winders, flat screen tvs that turn to mirrors when not in use, pull out packing table, and even a stylish laundry nook inside the closet and a coffee station! She really does amazing work!

Happy Easter Weekend! What better way to bring in the Easter weekend than with some Morris Egg prints! I love seeing the assorted egg shapes, design and colors. To some people the joy is collecting the actual prints from the book. I know the large monthly antique show here in Atlanta, Scott's has a few vendors who sell these, but you can also find them on ebay, estate sales, and if you find the entire book, you have hit the jackpot! Hope you have a wonderful Easter, my hubby and I are off to Augusta for the Masters tomorrow!

I have quite a bunny collection that are gifts from my family members at Spring that includes some faux chocolate bunnies, and vintage style bunnies, so it was nice to see how some of these are used in display. Spring has sprung with Tulipieres

Since Spring has sprung, I wanted to share some beautiful tulipieres and a little history. At the height of "tulip mania" in the mid 1600's when 1 tulip bulb cost as much as 1 oxen or 1,000 pounds of cheese, these delicate flowers could not be put in any vase. Holland's tulip fiends collaborated with Delft to produce what we know as the Tulipiere, an uber vase designed to show off a bunch of precious flowers to their best individual advantage...and so the tulipiere was born!

Happy Monday! I wanted to share the lovely work of New England designer Wendy Valliere of Seldom Scene Interiors and who is frequently featured in New England Home mag. She first caught my eye by her amazing work in a Palm Beach house which used white and blue colors with accents of red and coral which is mostly featured here except towards the end. She uses bold colors, wallpapered walls and ceilings, bold fabrics and prints. Hope you enjoy her work as much as I do.
