Eureka Is For Lovers...

This weekends' weather begged for such a getaway (and a birthday celebration)- we did just that. Nestled in the Arkansas Hills lies a little town by the name of Eureka Springs. From fudge shops to palm readers, hot dog stands to an outdoor theatre- there is no room for boredom.

My friends and I ate a late lunch outside under a canopy of yellow leaves. We indulged in a brie platter with pears, almonds, and honey. Next came the crab cakes, strawberry and gorgonzola salad and fish tacos. We cheers'd our $8 sangria (well worth it) to my friend Alex and her 21 years of birth.

I think what I find most enchanting about most this town is the nonchalance. Everyone seems to be at ease with nowhere to go and all the time to get there. A beer here and a street vendor there, it ain't nothing but time...

Unless you have been hiding under a very unfashionable rock, you have witnessed the sneaker comeback. Whether it is Chucks or Supergas- tennis shoes are making their way onto the feet of some of the most fashionable players.

Jenna Lyons, the president and creative director for J. Crew, donned a pair of Air Force ones just a few weeks ago at NYFW. Pairing them with leather leggings and a printed fur coat, Lyons looks way cooler than anyone in Louboutins . . .

The trick? Don’t treat the sneaker like a sneaker. Think of them as a neutral bootie or a strappy heel. Say yes to flouncy dresses and black high tops. The outcome? A cool juxtaposition of girly sportswear.

So go grab a pair of sneaks and just do it.

well here we are...10 short months later.

people are now writing and typing a 3 instead of a 2 yet i'm still wearing my hair on top of my head.

not many people my age can say that they have a job they love. for the record, i have a job i love. the following pictures show a few of my favorite pairings i styled. styling is my favorite thing about my job and for reasons rightfully so. creating outfits from new shipments (as well as our older pieces) of clothing gives me a thrill and a bit of a challenge...mixing the modern with the retro and the bohemian with the minimalist...it's all about creating one cohesive look. what look is your favorite?

Known for harem pants and arm parties, Leandra paired with Dannijo jewelry to create their very own line, Mr. Dannijo. The line is a feminine/masculine mix of mustaches and bows that's a little bit quirky. But hey, we like quirky.

There are a few things in each girls beauty routine that she cannot live without. Her are a few of mine......

1} Laura Mercier loose powder- light and just the amount of coverage i need

2} Urban Decay eye shadows- the pigments in these are incredible

3} L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in carbon black- my lashes are always bigger and better when i wear this

4} Philosophy's Summer Grace shower gel- the scent is heavenly and leaves skin super soft

5} Nars Bronzer in Laguna- nothing else like it

6} Moroccan Oil- i switched from BioSilk to this and there is no comparison (contains no alcohol like all the other stuff!)

7} Victoria's Secret perfume in Vixen- bought on sale for $12 and glad i did- the scent is super young and sexy

my journey started on tuesday at XNA (NWA airport) around noon. our flight into DFW was delayed therefore our flight to portland was missed. my sister and i ended up staying the night in Dallas and catching an early flight to LAX, then bee-lining it to Portland! We met my dad for some thai food, then watched a few minutes of his 2 hour presentation on youth mentoring- a conference he is attending associated with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

I am back from a fun-filled weekend in Oxford, Mississippi! My friend Morgan and I headed down to take a mini-vaca to visit our friend McClure-- a rebel in summer school. We spent nights out on the square, ate too much pizza, and reminisced about times when we all lived in the same state. I was sad to go but ready to be home and settle in for one whole day before I leave for Portland, Oregon. Stay tuned for some funky Northwestern posts!

i am a strong believer that a mani/pedi can make someones week/outfit. one of my favorite (and fabulous) aunts used to say it is "basic hygiene." i like that.

although sometimes my mind permits me to go the the salon, my wallet does not. that's when an at-home spa is to take place. i used to find myself rushing to paint my nails before a night out and then look down the next morning to smeared fingers. i have since learned to give myself at least two hours in order to get through the whole process (which includes drying!)

The runways display trend after trend every season and I honestly believe it should be a personal decision weather or not to take them on. Harem pants? Why not. Big sheaths for Fall ’12? I think I’ll be passing on that one.

But two trends that have caught my eye this Spring are feathers and pinky-peachy lips. Both can be dressed up or down and add a fun twist to any outfit. Pink lips can take a lacey white dress to a whole other level and donning one extra-long feather earring will for sure get a second look.

These are earrings I purchased last week from Forever21 to wear to a concert. Long story short, I opted for a necklace instead but I have not put these away forever. The earrings consist of gold chain, diamonds, and feathers. Too much? Should the bling go?

As summer approaches and I count down my last days of public schooling, there are a few fashion house-keeping rules that I find myself getting taken care of rather quickly. Although I am not done, I have found a few fabulous pieces to amp up my summer wardrobe. A Perfect Pair

Everywhere I look, either a magazine, blog, or my job at a local boutique, I find that the skirts are getting longer and the shirts are getting shorter. Both items are big this spring and can instantly update any wardrobe.

One thing to keep in mind when playing with these trends without one another is proportion. A maxi skirt should be paired with nothing to over-size because the length of the skirt already adds enough volume. Crop tops are not to be worn with low-rise jeans but the new high-waisted ones (that are everywhere) or high-waisted shorts. If you follow these guidelines, I assure you that you will not resemble A) a bag lady or B) a streetwalker.

As a child, I was not one of those cute bow headed girls. Much to my mother’s dismay (which was probably why I did it) I opted for an accessory-free head. Happy Monday to all! I start off this week with a little blogging about a another blogger, rockstar diaries (yes it is uncapitalized). The blog is done by a young couple, Naomi and Josh Davis, who live in D.C. with a newborn girl named Eleanor and an English bulldog named Kingsley. The blog is a compilation of their life through pictures from their park outings to playing with the new love in their lives. Although it's not at all meant to be a fashion blog, Naomi has a unique sense of style that is fun to follow. (Take note of her fabulous lips that always seem to be painted with a bright hue!)
