Liberals are funny when they try to wax poetic and attempt to help aid and a bet a lie at the same time. Take an article by Bernie Quigley from The Hills Pundits Blog who writes:

Elizabeth Warren might be excused for wanting to be Native American. She can claim an old American soul, going back generations in Oklahoma. In the heartland it is almost universal for those who have been there for a few generations to claim Indian blood; that is, to wish it were there even if it isn't.

And heres the FUNNY PART:

It is not so much a lie as it is the acculturation of personal and regional American myth; the fabric of old-soul American consciousness.

Throw in a quote by an Indian chief and maybe it will sound even more convincing....oh wait....the writer adds:

"Our spirit will walk among you," said Chief Joseph. Indeed it does.

Then we discover a little unknown truth about what might be limited to liberal blogging pundits, but I assume the author implies it for all American:

Indians come to us as dream guides, spirit guides and, like Sacagawea, actual guides to our most important journeys at once physical and metaphysical.

The whole article could be great parody, but the author actually intended it to be truthful. Apparently, according to them, anyone can say they have Indian in their blood and not be lying. Looks like we all need to apply for government benefits and get in on some of that casino action.

Jewish publicist, Michael Levine recalls meeting Summer in 2002: “Beyond her music, she was deeply committed to her spirituality and her religion,” Levine said. “She would have Bible study classes at her house and even invited me to attend.”

When AIDS hit the scene in a devastating and still widely misunderstood way in the 80′s, Summer was said to have made some anti-gay remarks that hugely impacted her career negatively. The diva whose records had been the toast of many gay clubs back-in-the-day had, by this time returned to her strict Christian roots and became born-again. She was alleged to have said that AIDS was a punishment from God for the immoral lifestyles of homosexuals. She vehemently denied the allegations but apologized profusely for her delayed reaction in not addressing the accusations promptly. She wanted to stay out of the controversey and thought that by being quiet that it would pass.

There's lots that could probably be written about her and I am sure will be in the next few days. I think the best way to define her might be from this video from 1983:

Tony Evans: A Shining Light for Our Time

If you have not heard of Dallas based pastor Tony Evans, then you have not been keeping up with the news this week. After President Obama made his not so unsurprising announcement about supporting gay marriage, Tony Evans--who is also African-American--stepped into the media spot light and said "Obama is wrong." Evans is not someone I ever paid much attention to, and maybe part of it is because he is pastor of an 8000 member mega church. Mega churches and me generally don't see eye to eye much...but now I have to dissolve my stereotype after doing a bit of research on him.

The winning punch was when I came across his book "How Should Christians Vote?". Just the title is enough to scare me away because based on the similar things I have read on the subject, the recipes for candidate choices never made much sense. But Evans struck right to the core of the issue (paraphrase, mine): We are a nation who is deeply rooted in seeking the will of our neighbor rather than ourselves...but we have been losing our way....through the mud and the gore that has become symbolic of our American election process. Evans attempts to point the believer back to the Bible as the source of how Christians should vote.

Our vote should be based on seeking the benefit of our neighbor's, strengthening families, and voting based on those principles rather than cultural norms.

Selfless voting? Now why hasn't anyone suggested that before? Now THAT is wisdom I can vote with.

Mikey Weinstein, President of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, writes for Alternet of a series of exposes, leading up to General Dempsey’s edict, of courses and presentations to officers where they’re told “we have to kill Islam” or “America and the West are doomed to failure in this war unless they stand up and identify the real enemy: Islam.”

Mitt Romney: He Ain't Jesus...But He Ain't Obama

I think Pat Robertson actually nailed it correct in regards to Romney. He is not Jesus, nor is he running for head of the Christian church. (That's only acceptable if you're at Vanderbilt College). There is a contrast between Obama and Romney, even though some people are trying to blur it. The blur comes in the form of the healthcare program Romney established in his home state and the one Obama is forcing on America.

Romney, however, will be an improvement over Obama. But, then again, it wouldnt take much to be an improvement over Obama.

Romney is being careful not to wear his Mormonism on his sleeves even though its pretty clear it is important to him. Even that is a better contrast to Obama who admits he belongs to whichever religion he happens to be talking to at the time. I have heard him say through news bytes that he is Muslim and also heard him say he is Christian. Quite frankly, I think if the Amish were a strong voting demographic I think he would probably say he was Amish, also.

If the Ron Paulbots don't undermine the Republican party by the time the convention comes around, then Mitt Romney looks like a "shoe-in" candidate to take over the White House next January. The best Obama can do is promise to do the promises he said he would do in 2008 but never did in the last four years. Which, BTW, if I am ever pressed to recall what he did in his first term that was positive I really draw a blank. Well...he killed that fly on TV...and that was kinda cool.....or at least the reporter (Charlie Gibson) was impressed.

I am noting, of course, that this article is turning into more of a complaint list about Obama...but that, in my opinion, is what this is all about. Mitt Romney is NOT Obama. If he is the Republican nominee, then thats good enough for me. I am not a Republican and through the debates I rooted for Cain, Santorum and even Gingrich. But I will be very glad to vote against Obama. Romney, it appears, will get my vote by default.

Z-NOTE: Of course, it was with a great laugh that I read that this author calls Obama an "evangelical Christian." So you have to read that somewhat tongue in cheek.

The first candidate, Obama, is an evangelical Christian but attempts to pass the plan that the Catholic Church opposes in principle, and the second candidate, Romney, belongs to the Mormon Church, which the Catholic Church is not able to support or even describe as a church. The Vatican, particularly current Pope Benedict XVI, calls non-Catholic churches Christian “movements.” According to it, there is only one Church, and not many churches (in the theological definition of the Church). This unique Church is the Catholic Church.

Mormons, unlike other Christian churches, prohibit, for example, alcoholic beverages and smoking while allowing polygamy. They raise the authority of the movement’s founder, Joseph Smith, to that of a prophet and believe that the revelation came down to him through tablets similar to those of Moses, and so on. That is why they were persecuted, isolated and separated. They developed a culture of internal cooperation and followers’ total trust in their church. This is the first time in the history of the United States that a Mormon has achieved what Mitt Romney has achieved as a candidate running in the presidential election. If he wins it, he is going to be a historical phenomenon, as President Obama certainly has been as the first president of African descent in the White House.

The obvious observation is that there are many in the Church who would rather get their marching orders from Obama, the liberal media, or the bad and unsubstantiated theory that there is some kind of gene that causes "gayness" or that they think its clever to say that if people dont like gay people then, the heterosexuals should stop having them, or claim it claim it has something to do with hate. It has nothing to do with hate. That is one of the many pro-gay movement's self developed strawmen. Christian people, tired of being attacked for using old testament verses from Leviticus and then being asked why they eat pork and dont stone people, now seem to be even overlooking the New Testament verses:

"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." —Romans 1:26-27 (NKJV)

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." —1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV)

"Knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine," —1 Timothy 1:9-10 (NKJV)

They either ignore them, write off Paul as an incompetent authority, or reinterpret the verses until they can get it to mean what they want it to. That's not a new thing, of course, as the humanists who sometimes use the "Christian" label have been doing it for centuries. This isn't a matter of hate verses love or popularity verses not, its a battle against holiness. God defines holiness. And in case you haven't gotten that far in your reading, I can tell you that in the end God wins.

Charles "Chuck" Colson 1931-2012

Chuck Colson died Saturday. I dont necessarily consider him one of my lifes greatest mentors, but much of his work has been both inspirational and insightful to me as I have journeyed through this lifetime.

I recollect first hearing about him in a list of a dozen or so other men involved in what, to me at the time, was a pretty big scandal that eventually caused President Nixon to resign. I was still in my early teens and really didn't understand the whole context of what had happened in 1974. My mind was preoccupied with other things as a teen and being part of a broken family (my dad had died four years earlier) I look back and think that if the dictionary had a definition of a "dysfunctional" family it would have been a great definition to just have a picture of our family.

I dont mention this much, so this may come as news to many, but, in 1978, as a court defined "child in need of supervision" I ended up spending April through September going back and forth between the Fall River Country Jail and the Juvenile Detention center in Rapid City, South Dakota. In teen years, that many months is almost a life time. I played a lot of cards and did a lot of reading. One of the books I happened to read was a book called "Born Again" by Chuck Colson and read other things about this "Prison Fellowship" ministry he was starting. That was one of several books I read that made me start looking at the Bible. I went in as an atheist, slowly became an agnostic...and the started reading the Bible. Starting from the beginning, the old testament made little sense...so I started at Matthew and began reading the Bible through for my first time. Later I picked up "The Late Great Planet Earth" by Hal Lindsey and I guess it kind of "scared me to heaven," cuz somewhere before September I became a Christian. I dont have a date and time and have even been told by some that if you dont have a date and time then you are not legitimately saved. Well, I lost track of time in the place I was residing but know it was legit...just somewhere around August or Sept 1978. I was released on probation since I had turned 18 that year (in July).

Anyway, to keep on the subject...later I became somewhat of political activist. There really werent a lot of authors I could find that I thought had any real political insight...though, at the time, I assumed that since Jesus was "compassionate" He had to be a Democrat, so thats what I became initially. Reality and Reagan cured me of that. But one author that came up every now and again who really had some keen insight in the realm of American politics was Chuck Colson. I loved "Kingdoms in Conflict," "A Dance with Deception", and several others. I dont recollect the magazine, but he also had a periodical column that was always insightful.

I really cant say "always insightful" about a whole lot of Christian authors, but I can with Colson. His ministry with prisoners was far reaching and touched many many people. It stayed above the scandals of many other ministries, but I always attributed that to the fact that its founder was "born" in the midst of a monumental scandal.

Chuck Colson was the real deal. He has been promoted. I hope to meet him some day when my own promotion has been approved.

If you are a buyer on Ebay, you may not be aware that for many sellers Ebay's banking system, Paypal, is NOT releasing the money to the sellers when you make a payment. They (Ebay) is not telling you that even though you are paying for the item and the shipping that they are NOT even releasing the money to allow a seller to ship the item. The result has been that a lot of buyers do not get their item. You may need to ask your buyer beforehand if this is a problem. Be aware that Ebay DOES know this, but do not care. Nancy may appear normal in many respects but she is lacking something most Americans may take for granted. Nancy lacks a clue. There are similar afflictions which may be a result of simply not having enough information in our diets. However, in Nancy's case, she has enough information, but her cognitive senses are just not able to process it properly. As a result she is known to have given speeches and even interviews where her inability to digest a clue properly has made her not able then to deliver a clue. If we Americans join together we may be able to give Nancy Pelosi a clue she needs so very very much.
