			<title>FAA Testing on Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery Cells</title>

			<description>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently conducted a series of testing in Atlantic City, New Jersey of five different areas of scope involving lithium-ion and lithium-ion polymer battery cells. The report, entitled "Flammability Assessment of Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Ion Polymer Battery Cells Designed for Aircraft Power Usage", outlines the topics of fire exposure, pressure pulse, halon suppression, external short circuit and auto-ignition.</description>

			<title>PHMSA Notice of Approval for Lithium Batteries</title>

			<description>PHMSA, effective immediately, has authorized the use of the new shipping descriptions for lithium batteries currently being used in international regulations for shipments of dangerous goods. PHMSA will consider adopting these shipping descriptions into the HMR at a future date. Shippers and carriers have expressed safety concerns over using the same shipping descriptions for both lithium metal and lithium ion batteries, which has caused significant problems and delays in the transportation of these dangerous goods.</description>

			<description>IATA has released a second addendum to the DGR 50th edition earlier today. This addendum includes the ICAO addendum that addresses: Revisions to classification of 1.4S explosives, addition of a new SP A165 with respect to 1.4S explosives and assignment of this SP to eight current 1.4S entries in Table 4.2; revisions to the text for mixtures and solutions in 4.1; updates/additions to State and operator variations; clarification on the classification of environmentally hazardous substances. The addendum also includes some clarification on the application of the EHS mark and some minor corrections.</description>
