We received a telephone call from an existing customer in Buckinghamhshire whose automatic wooden gates had become non-operational. An engineer was sent to site 24 hours after receiving the call from the client. The Automatic Gate Repairs consisted of checking all electrical components installed throughout the system. A thorough inspection was carried out of the automatic wooden gates to check for any possible obstruction. Whilst carrying out the Automatic Gate Repairs our engineer also carried out a full service to the electric wooden gates. The infrared photocells are cleaned and checked for any insect or moisture ingress. The underground gate motors were checked for insect and moisture ingress. The automatic wooden gates have several sensitive edges fitted across the installation. We tested and checked all sensitive edges to ensure they are functioning correctly. The opening and closing sweep of the automatic swing gates is checked and cleared of any possible obstructions. The gates are checked for any alignment issues and adjusted as necessary with the bespoke adjustable hinges. All access control equipment is checked and tested. All safety equipment is checked with force readings being taken to ensure the gates continue to comply with current DHF guidelines. Finally the gates are given an overall inspection to check for any signs of structural fatigue or damage. After carrying out the Automatic Gate Repairs and service our engineer left site with the gates back to full working order.

We recently carried out a Gate Service in Aspley Heath, Buckinghamshire. We carried out the original automatic sliding gate installation in 2015. The Gate Service in Aspley Heath consisted of a thorough inspection of all components. The infrared photocells are cleaned and checked for any insect or moisture ingress. The motor unit is also checked for insect and moisture ingress. The aluminium sliding gate has several sensitive edges fitted across the installation. We replaced the batteries in the wireless sensitive edges. The sliding track is cleared of debris and inspected for any obstruction. The toothed racking running along the bottom of the gate is checked to ensure it is still firm. The toothed racking allows for some adjustment should it be required. Automatic sliding gates can settle over time. Occasionally this can cause binding between the toothed racking and pinion resulting in additional strain being placed on the Beninca Sliding Gate Automation equipment. All access control equipment is checked and tested. All safety equipment is checked with force readings being taken to ensure the gates continue to comply with current DHF guidelines. Finally the gates are given an overall inspection to check for any signs of structural fatigue or damage. The Gate Service in Aspley Heath is the first one since the automatic sliding gate was installed. Continuing with annual servicing will help prolong the life of your Automated Gates. Whenever we attend automatic gates that have not been serviced for many years normally the main reason for the failure is because of neglect. Feel free to contact us on 0333 2000 840 should you feel your Automatic Gates are overdue a service or send us an email via the contact us form by clicking here.

We were asked to supply and install a pair of Cambridge Wooden Gates to our clients premises in Pertenhall, Cambridgeshire. Our client had seen the chosen design of gate on the internet and asked us to replicate them to fit their bespoke entrance. We produced accurate CAD drawings and liaised with the client several times to ensure they were happy with the proportions before passing the drawings on to a skilled joiner. The Cambridge Wooden Gates were constructed from hardwood using traditional techniques. The steel work was fully galvanised and painted black as per the clients request. The gates were installed with fully adjustable hinges to allow for settlement and movement of the gates and piers. A centre stop was installed to give a firm closed position.

Our client wished to have a discrete gate automation system so opted for a 24v underground system from Nice UK. We installed a pair of the Big Metro 24v underground motors controlled by a Nice MC824H control board. Front and rear MOFB photocells were installed. The Nice 24v system includes inherent built in obstacle detection. Should an object by caught in the travel of the gates, the Cambridge Wooden Gates will detect the object and reverse travel.

To provide additional security, we supplied and installed an electric deadbolt to the centre of the gates. When the gates are given a command to open, the electric deadbolt releases before the gates begin to move. When the gates reach fully closed, the electric deadbolt fires back into the latch to ensure the gates cannot be forced open by hand.

Access through the Cambridge Wooden Gates is done so via a multi-button GSM intercom system and timed exit induction loop. Each button on The Videx GSM intercom system is programmed to dial through to a primary and secondary number. Once the end user has identified the person at the gateway they can open the gates with a press of a button on their telephone handset. A digital keypad is also housed within the intercom system allowing coded control of the gates such trusted users not have a remote control to hand. The other benefit of the GSM systems is that telephone numbers can be programmed into the unit to allow users to call the gates from their landline or mobile telephone which then triggers the gate to open.

The timed exit induction loop provides free exit for vehicles. When a vehicle passes over the loop the gates are given a command to open. The loop was neatly buried beneath the drive surface resulting in a discrete installation.

The final request from the client was to wire up a series of bollard lights running down the driveway so that when the Cambridge Wooden Gates are commanded to open the lights automatically switch on illuminating the way for trusted users and guests.

We were commissioned by our client to supply and install Bedfordshire Aluminium Gates to a multi-residency site in Luton, Bedfordshire. The gates were designed by the clients architect and finished with a wood effect to give the appearance of wooden gates, but with the minimum maintenance requirements of an aluminium gate. A matching pedestrian gate was also installed adjacent to the vehicle gates.

The automatic Bedfordshire Alumunium gates were installed with Beninca DU350NVE underground motors. The DU350 range of motors are a mains powered motor but with the added safety of inherent built in obstacle detection. The gates were hung towards the back edge of the brick piers with our bespoke built in wrap around hinges to remove any closing hinge gaps. Additional ASO 8.2 Ohm safety edges were installed to ensure all potential hazards were protected.

The Bedfordshire Aluminium Gates were installed with a multi-button BPT intercom system. The unit calls 12 individual properties whereby the residents can engage in conversation with the visitor before granting them access either through the automated aluminum vehicle gates, or by releasing the magnetic lock from the manual aluminium pedestrian gate. The intercom also had a trades button programmed to release the magnetic lock during certain times of the day. An exit push button was installed to allow residents the ability to freely open the pedestrian gate should a radio transmitter not be to hand. Finally the intercom system also housed a keypad to allow coded access to trusted users.

Entry and exit vehicle induction loops were installed to allow vehicles to simply drive up to the gates for them to open. The entry loop was installed with a timer to make the premises secure for only trusted persons during certain times. The vehicle induction loops were installed prior to the final driveway surface being laid in order to create a discrete installation.

Our client requested we remove their existing gates and posts and install a pair of automatic wrought iron gates that would be suitable for gate automation and complimentary to the property. We also installed a matching pedestrian gate hung from 100mm steel posts fitted into the returns of the brick piers. The pedestrian gate included a key lockable mortice latch and handle. Our automatic wrought iron gates are fabricated in box section mild steel to provide a lighter yet strong structure. The frames are heavily galvanised to ensure that you are free from any structural corrosion for many years to come. We primed and finished the gates in a semi-gloss black to give a traditional wrought iron appearance. The automatic gates were installed with fully adjustable hinges to allow for any settlement or movement of the gates or piers/posts in the future and a centre stop was installed to give a firm closed position.

We supplied and installed an underground gate automation system from Beninca UK comprising of two steel foundation boxes, two underground motors, one control board, two infrared safety photocell beams, one radio receiver and two radio transmitter key fobs. When broken, the infrared safety photocell beams prevent the gates from closing onto a vehicle. This combined with additional safety features such as obstacle detection or sensitive edges to automatically reverse gate travel when an object is contacted ensures that the gates are safe and comply with the appropriate EU and British standards. All of our systems incorporate a simple lever manual override to allow access should you have prolonged power cuts.

Access control through the automatic wrought iron gates is done so via a GSM intercom system from Videx, an exit vehicle induction loop and exit keypad:

The ultimate solution for all audio intercom systems uses GSM technology to route visitors to any telephone of your choice, anywhere in the world. The outstation is effectively a mobile telephone and can be pre-programmed with a telephone number to dial. If there is no answer, the unit automatically tries a second number. This system requires no wiring to the premises and allows you to open the automatic wrought iron gates from your house, office, the corner of a field, or whilst on holiday. There are no limits!

In conjunction with the keypad on the intercom, we installed a standalone digital keypad as a means for regular trusted visitors and tradesmen to enter and leave a site. It allows control of the gates with the use of a four-digit code when a radio transmitter is not to hand.

An induction loop provides a means of free exit for vehicles by detecting changes in a magnetic field caused by large metallic objects. A vehicle approaching the automatic wrought iron gates is detected and the gate is commanded to open. The installation involves laying a loop of cable beneath the finished drive surface and back to the control panel for the gate automation. We re-finished the drive neatly resulting in a discreet installation. A timer was installed to disabled the loop at night.

Our client requested we supply a pair of ornate Northwood metal gates with an ‘up-arch’ design. The automatic metal gates span an approximate gap of 3515mm reaching a maximum height of 1960mm. The metal gates were hung from 150mm x 150mm box section posts with 150mm diameter decorative balls. Northwood Metal Gates from H.B. Paynter Gates Ltd. were fabricated in box section mild steel to provide a lighter yet strong structure. The frames are heavily galvanised to ensure that you are free from any structural corrosion for many years to come. We primed and painted the automatic gates in black to give a traditional wrought iron appearance. The gates were installed with fully adjustable hinges to allow for any settlement or movement of the gates or posts in the future and a centre stop was installed to give a firm closed position. In addition to the gates and posts, our client requested approximately 9’ of railings spanning from existing brick piers to the new gate posts. The railings were heavily galvanised and painted black to match the gates and posts.

We supplied and installed a 24v surface mounted gate automation system from Nice UK comprising of two 24v electromechanical operators, one 24v control board, two infrared safety photocell beams and two radio transmitter key fobs. When broken, the infrared safety photocell beams prevent the gates from opening or closing onto a vehicle. All of our systems incorporate a simple key manual override to allow access should you have prolonged power cuts.

We also supplied & installed a Logisty Wireless Intercom system and exit induction loop:

Improved technology allows us to dispense with conventional hard-wired intercom systems and the associated cost and inconvenience of cable routing. A high percentage of our intercom installations are wireless providing a cost–effective and flexible solution to access control. Each system comprises of a slim surface mounted brushed stainless steel call station, a simple cordless white receiver telephone and a power supply unit. The call station houses a call button that activates the receiver unit alerting you to a visitor’s presence. You can then instigate a two-way conversation between the receiver unit and gateway and with the push of a button open the northwood metal gates. The call station also houses a keypad to allow coded control over the gates should you or a trusted visitor not have a radio transmitter to hand. In addition to reduced installation costs, you will also benefit from being able to answer calls from the gate on the move around the house and garden.

An induction loop provides a means of free exit for vehicles by detecting changes in a magnetic field caused by large metal objects. A vehicle approaching the northwood metal gates is detected and the gate is commanded to open. This function is fitted with a daily programmable timer to disable the auto exit at night or any time when security is needed. The installation involved cutting a slot in the drive surface and laying a loop of cable. We re-finished the drive neatly resulting in a discreet installation.

We were commissioned by our client to supply and install two automatic garage doors to their premises near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Our client had existing manual “up and over” garage doors that had been installed for some time and required replacing. We supplied and install two securoglide roller automatic garage doors from SWS.

Manufactured from tough twin-walled aluminium slats with an insulating core, the curtain is held in place with high performance webbing which gives extremely quiet operation and is unaffected by extremes of temperature. A strong extruded top slat and our unique locking mechanism effectively resist attack by would-be intruders.

The automatic garage doors are available in a choice of eighteen paint or wood-effect finishes and over forty textured woodgrain finishes, allowing you to match your door to existing paintwork or double-glazing for a coordinated look to your home. Looking for something different? The automatic garage doors can also be powder coated to any RAL or BS colour (at additional cost) giving you unlimited possibilities.

The automatic garage doors are supplied as standard with a SeceuroSense receiver with built in courtesy light, your choice of two key fobs an optical safety edge and an internal manual override.

Automatic Garage Doors are the natural progression after having automatic driveway gates installed.

We were commissioned by our client to supply and install a pair of Aluminium Drive Gates to their premises in Corby, Northamptonshire. The Aluminum Drive Gates replaced wooden gates that had begun to deteriorate. The new aluminium drive gates matched the original design of the wooden gates. We hung the new aluminium gates towards the back edge of the gate piers to reduce the number of required sensitive edges.

We supplied and installed Beninca 24v gate automation with the inherent obstacle detection to the aluminium drive gates. Front and rear infrared photocells were installed to prevent the gates from closing onto a vehicle. The gates were then force tested to ensure they comply with the current DHF guidelines.

A GSM intercom system manufactured and supplied by Telguard was installed. The intercom system rings through to the landline, should no one answer the landline after a period of time, the unit automatically dials through to a secondary number, normally a mobile. The user can instigate a two way conversation with the intercom and give a command to open the aluminium drive gates via their telephone handset. The gate intercom system also houses a keypad to allow coded entry should a radio transmitter not be to hand. An internal keypad was also installed for the same reason.

The Aspley Guise Electric Gates were constructed from Iroko and hung from new Oak posts. The wooden gates and posts were treated with Osmo clear oil. The drive gates were installed with our custom made hinges and hung in a manner to ensure there are no closing hinge gaps.

We supplied and installed Beninca 24v underground gate automation equipment. This system has the built in obstacle detection to provide protection to persons getting too close to the gates. Front infrared safety photocells were installed along with a safety/exit induction loop.

Access through the Aspley Guise Electric Gates is done so via a Telguard 2 button GSM intercom system with integrated keypad. The intercom was set up to ring two individual plots from where the end user can open the gates via their landline or mobile telephone.
