Yesterday James turned 6 months old. I can't believe he's over halfway through his first year!! Time really does fly!!

He's been

eating rice cereal
rolling over both ways
sleeping on his belly
loves his jumper in the doorway
smiles constantly
really focuses in on all objects
sits up with support

He's 16lb10oz and 27" tall. Tall and skinny.. With super cute rolls :)

He was a little monster for Halloween

I met 3 of my "2013" goals this past month

I ran a half marathon.. in the rain.. and met one of my goals - to run a sub 2:30 half. That might not be fast for most, but I was so excited!!!! I did it in 2 hours and 25 minutes!!

Another goal was to nurse for 6 months, and I met that goal too and am still going.

I also lost 30 pounds from pregnancy and am down to my goal weight!!!

I spent time with lots of high school friends in October and it was great!!!

Dave has been busy traveling with his job.

James is all personality now - he smiles at everything and really never cries.

This month he:

4 Months - James

James is 4 months! At the doctor today I saw a 3 week old and at a dinner last night saw a 6 week old and they look SO little. Everyone said "they grow up so fast" and it's so true!

Here's what's new since his 3 month update:

He now puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. The doctor said that doesn't necessarily mean he's teething, he just loves putting things in there.

He loves his reflection in the mirror and gets really excited to play with the baby in the mirror.

He reaches for everything!

We turned him around in the Baby Bjorn and took him out of his carseat for walks in the stroller.

We'll start on rice cereal, he's in the 79% for height, 27% weight, 21% head.. he's a tall skinny boy!! He's wearing 9 month clothes.

He's figuring out the different toys, jumperoo, etc.

I did a silly thing, I took James to the doctor because he had woken up from his naps crying. I know that sounds crazy to take him to the doctor for, but the boy NEVER cries. So when he was fussy I took him in since it was almost the weekend. End of the story is there was nothing wrong, I guess he was just unhappy for a couple days.

I think the nurses thought I was crazy. He was so happy there!

This past week, Dave's parents were in town. I think James enjoyed
getting spoiled and staying up late :)

August 23 - Postpartum CrossFit, James - 3 1/2 months

We've had a busy last couple weeks! Dave came home from his 2 weeks of National Guard training - yay! The poor guy lost 11 pounds while away, he was busy!!! All while James and I had been home relaxing and going to the pool and hanging out with friends.

I've been training for a half marathon now and a coaches competition for CrossFit. I'm SORE all the time now, but it's good for me!

I talked a lot about CrossFit during pregnancy, and now postpartum is good. Some things are easy and some things are very difficult!

Difficult - all the things I didn't do while pregnant:

squats at full depth
burpees
pullups
situps

Easy - well, not easy, but getting better

running is actually going well
overhead presses are getting better

It's all fun though, I'm definitely enjoying getting back into it!!

Goals for the next couple months:

use smaller bands for strict pullups, get a kipping pullup
use 14# med ball
use 15# slam ball
use 35# kettlebell

3 months!

My grandma always tells me that 3 months is so fun and they grow up over night.

It's SO true!!

I feel like I need to write this down before I forget!

Here's what James is up to at 3 months:

He smiles constantly, and flirts now too.

He can lift his butt up now, instead of just his head!

He has a grip on everything now, and soaked the whole bathroom. It was funny.

He LOVES his feet. He really likes his right foot and is starting to find his left foot too.

He has started to figure out he has a tongue and sticks it out.
He can yell, and likes to yell just to hear himself.
He can now see/focus on colors. It's like his whole world is new now, and he looks at everything!
He has rolled over a couple times, but mainly just likes to lay on his side. He's pretty content stopping there.
He sleeps 12-13 hours EVERY night, and many times I have to wake him up in the morning.
He just moved to eating every 4 hours, and takes 3 naps a day, morning, mid-day, and an evening "cat nap".
He cries sometimes when you walk away (which I secretly love that he wants us there all the time!)
He can lift his head up for long periods of time!

Such a fun age!!

James is 12 weeks, yay!! About 6 weeks ago when James was crying CONSTANTLY everyone kept saying, just make it to the 12 week point, your whole life will change. Then Dave and I started counting down until the "magical 12 weeks". I remember thinking 6 more weeks of this?? Well, then we put him on the every 3 hour feeding E.A.S.Y. schedule, where he ate and then was awake, then slept. We realized very quickly that our poor little guy had just been exhausted. He now gets his sleep and is the perfect little boy. We feel so bad having ever wanted to count down until this point, but newborns are hard work!!

James now sleeps 12 hours every night!! 7:30pm until 7:30am when I wake him up!!

Ever since he's been on a schedule, he's either sleeping, eating, or smiling. It's amazing. He is such a happy kid!! Time is flying by and I wish it would slow down a bit!!

In other amazing news, my sister and her husband are pregnant! Yay to being an aunt again, yay to having cousins that will all be close in age, amazing.

Funny story from the week - things change after being a mom, like last week when I was in a cute sun dress out to dinner with friends and Dave, when I looked down and realized my son had pooped, yes pooped, all over my dress. I then had to walk to the bathroom (on the other side of the restaurant) with him covered in poop and me covered in poop, and I really didn't care that much. Things change.

I'm starting to train for a half marathon and so I was up running at 6am (I don't work and it's summer), and I was up at 6am running so that I could get it in before James woke up and he didn't have to be out in the heat.

Things change, but it's all for the better!!

Last weekend I had a girls day, and so Dave was home with James.. here are the pictures I got while I was gone. Too funny. For all of you that think Dave is a shy guy.. boy are you wrong. He keeps us laughing all day at home.

Last week I ran a Kids Summer Camp, 30 kids between the ages of 5 and 12 years old, it was so fun, stressful yes, but so amazing to watch kids have a whole week of exercising and being healthy. On Friday we provided lunch of vegetables, fruit, and grilled chicken. It was so refreshing to watch them all eat the healthy food and ENJOY it!! Woohoo!! 10 weeks - Road Trip!!

We've been on a 2 week road trip and wow, it's been busy!

It all started with me getting CrossFit certified!!

After Tennessee mom and I drove to Kansas City where James met many more family members and friends, ran around the ranch, saw fireworks, celebrated 4th of July, had a sip and see, swam in a pool, finally got to see his dad again, started smiling and talking a LOT! and got baptized!

7 weeks old!

We had a great week! Many of the things I didn't take pictures of though, darn!!

On Tuesday night, several girls and I went and saw the musical, FlashDance. We had so much fun, and wow - those dancers were incredible. I wish I had half the energy they do!!

On Wednesday, I got cleared to workout, woohoo!! I had started working out at about 4.5 weeks, I couldn't stay home any longer. I tried to take it easy, but it's hard not to go high intensity. Well, I now have zero restrictions and everything healed properly, so I'm good to go! Yay!!

One thing that is frustrating though, is I'm back to day one as far as the weights go. I'm doing less weight on some things than I was 9 months pregnant. On other things, I'm doing better than expected. I'm just happy to be back in the gym.

We were overdue for the vet with both dogs, I guess having a baby does that. So I went to the vet with my crazy dogs, and the baby. Oh dang. But it actually went pretty well!! I did choose to go two separate days though, wasn't sure about 2 dogs and baby and vet.

On other news I'm 6 days in of eating dairy, and 13 days of eating eggs! I know that eggs are no problem!! I don't think dairy is a problem either, YAY!!! We're still waiting to see though..

James is 6 weeks old today! We had a big first this weekend, a babysitter. We've left James with my mother-in-law for a quick date night but I've never left James with anyone that wasn't family. Luckily, at CrossFit there is THE SWEETEST high school girl who is super responsible and she came and stayed with James while I went to a friend's birthday dinner. It was so good to see friends but I was so nervous on the way there. Well, Molly did amazing, and she'll be coming back soon! but.. it made me realize just how much responsibility I had while babysitting, that these parents left me with their life. I don't think it's something anyone can understand until they walk out the door with someone else with their child.

At 6 weeks, I also feel very blessed to be staying home, I can't imagine leaving James with someone all day every day!

This is what I've been doing in my "free time", studying for the CrossFit Level 1 Certification. I'm a nerd and am actually kind of enjoying learning and studying.

Okay.. so, I can fit into pre-pregnancy jeans, but not the jeans I had right before I got pregnant. I was in the best shape of my life when I got pregnant, I don't know if I'll ever fit in those jeans again!! I can fit in the jeans from before Dave and I even started dating, so 5+ years ago! After wearing them I realized they're very outdated. So I went shopping, and bought these jeans above. Cute right? Well, now I know where mom jeans come from.. You wear stretchy high waisted jeans for at least half your pregnancy and then you wear these low rise jeans and they feel soooooo low rise. I think that's when moms end up with more high waisted jeans.. just a thought?

5 weeks - no more colic!!

James is 5 weeks! And he's GROWING!!!! He's 11.5 pounds and I had to put him in 3-6 month clothes this morning because he's SO long!!

The last week has been a fun one. We put him on reflux meds, I'm still eating no dairy and no eggs, and I put him on a sleeping schedule. I'm doing the E.A.S.Y. schedule from the "baby whisperer". Eat, Active, Sleep, You time.. and it's worked!! I'm wondering if all of his cranky was just that he was very tired. He goes to sleep in his crib with no pacifier and goes to sleep within 5-10 minutes. I know "they say" you shouldn't start a schedule until "they're 3 months old" but James loves it...and Dave and I do too. He's like a whole new baby. I just talked to the doctor and I'm going to reintroduce eggs this week and see how he does!

I can't believe that James is one month already! A few things about him over the past couple weeks...

James - Week 3

So this was a tough week. We had a great mother's day, ending with a huge milkshake and me deciding that James was fussy and it MUST be dairy. So for 5 days I didn't eat dairy, red meat, tomatoes, too much caffeine, gluten, etc etc, trying to see if that was why he was so fussy. I tried gas relief drops, gripe water, propping him up for 30 minutes after eating, raising his mattress on one side, etc.

This is what my meals looked like..

eggs, squash, portabella, pork, chicken, sausage, carrots, grapes, bananas, sweet potatoes

and after 5 days Dave and I decided he was no better. So, I ate Grimaldi's pizza, Escalante's queso, all my favorite things for the weekend and then... he was WAY worse. Without too many details he has every sign of food allergies and his adorable older cousin went through all of this plus some so it might run in the family.

So, back to no dairy on Sunday. I talked to the doctor on Monday and the doctor said no dairy and no eggs and put him on Prevacid for reflux. Now we're at day 2 of no dairy and eggs, we'll see how the week goes!

If you know me, you know that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and when Dave is out of town I eat breakfast for dinner all the time. Question - what do you eat for breakfast if you can't have milk or eggs and not even baked into anything?! Bacon, fruit, oatmeal? Hmm..

41 Weeks - Delivery Day/Birth Story!

So I'm going to try to backtrack and see if I remember everything...

The 41st week my parents came down because we knew that I'd be induced that Tuesday, it was perfect, my mom kept me company and my dad kept Dave company while we tried to pass the time. It was pretty disappointing when my dad flew back Sunday night and there was still no baby!!

Monday night, the night before the induction, I went to Crossfit, I'm still very proud of that!!

So here's the labor story: Tuesday morning we woke up at 5am to call the hospital to get an induction time. They told me to call back at 8am or they might call by 7am and I would probably get in that day. I went back to bed and couldn't sleep, I was 41 weeks and they said probably get in?!? At 6:40am I felt something odd, then 3 minutes later I felt it again and then again, I told Dave I thought I was in labor and went in to tell my mom too. My mom had no doubts about it when I hit the floor in a squat during what I now know was a contraction. So, I ran through the shower, try washing your hair during contractions, and then we were packing the car and headed to the hospital. By now, it was of course 7:30am in rush hour!

When I "thought" I was in labor we took these pictures... yes, that's a contraction in the middle of it! I'm laughing because I'm trying to hide from the camera while Dave follows me, that's what husband's do, help you laugh through labor.

So embarassing but too funny not to share.

We walked into the hospital, and they made us check in, because they didn't realize I was there for labor.. until I was squatting on the floor again, and then squatting in the elevator, and then squatting in the hall walking toward the maternity ward. I guess I'm stubborn and wouldn't take a wheelchair.

We walked up to a nurse who said her name, and the name rang a bell, we realized we shared a mutual very good friend, I'm not going to lie, you don't want to know that one of your good friend's good friends is going be with you the entire time you're in LABOR. BUT.. she was awesome, and I can't say enough good things about her.

She made what should have been a very scary delivery into a breeze.

From start to finish I was in labor 7 hours and pushed 20 minutes. Thanks to.. Crossfit, my awesome husband, and that great nurse.

So, here's how it went. I walked in (and had a contraction), she hooked me up to the monitor and each time I had a contraction you could hear the baby's heartbeat drop, a lot, so she asked if I wanted an epidural, and of course said yes. She said that he probably had cord compression (meaning his umbilical cord was wrapped), and there was a possibility of c-section. After probably an hour of contractions, which were in my back because he was also faced the wrong way, that are NOT fun, I yelled "where's that doctor??" and then apologized, and then we got the epidural. After that, it's a breeze. I laid there while I had contractions, my mom (who I swore would NOT be in the delivery room) was invited in by me because we were just passing the time. At about 1:30pm the nurse told me I needed to push and we didn't have an hour to push, because his umbilical cord was wrapped. She said it's like being dunked in water, you can do it a few times but after awhile you give up. It was scary to hear, but I didn't want a c-section, and wanted to see that cute baby so, I just did it.

I say it a lot, but because we are always working out together, we know how to coach each other. Dave was a tremendous help and actually his abs were sore the next day from "pushing" with me. He was incredible. So at 1:30pm I started pushing and by 1:52pm we had a beautiful baby boy.

That's the whole story, labor was easy, and yes - only a few weeks later I can say I would absolutely do it again.

40 Weeks - Jackfruit

Well.. it's my due date, and there's no baby!

We had a doctor's appointment today to see if we needed to induce and of course he's perfectly happy and comfy in there. He scored an 8 out of 8, he's active, practicing breathing, and plenty of fluid. So... we'll induce next Tuesday if I haven't had him yet.

Luckily, step 1 of "inducing" is already done. I'm 3cm dilated, 80% effaced, and he's still head down. That makes that easier.

I've tried everything to have him come out and nothing is working. We walked 4 miles, ate pineapple, ate spicy food, ate Italian, rolled on the birthing ball, etc, etc and nothing works. Darn. Either way, by next Tuesday he'll be on his way!

Last weekend my sister in law came into town and we had so much fun with her!

We enjoyed some yummy Mexican food

and enjoyed a gorgeous day on the patio.

I also spent yesterday making lots of freezer meals! Lasagna, spaghetti sauce, and chicken spaghetti.. We're ready James.. please come out soon!

39 Weeks - Watermelon

I can't believe, once again, how far along in the pregnancy I am! And a WATERMELON? No pregnant woman wants to think about her baby being the size of a watermelon, and labor... oh well.

I think this was bigger than he is, I hope. I couldn't really hold it with one hand.

So, my doctor who doesn't think I'll go past my due date now has me set up for an ultrasound at 40 weeks to check how baby is doing. After that she'll induce if he's not doing well or she'll wait until 41 weeks to induce. I don't like the sound of inducing labor, but I also don't like the sound of still being pregnant in a few weeks! So, I hope he makes an entrance soon!

This week's appointment said 2.5 cm dilated, 70% effaced, and -1, all of those things are a step in the right direction!

Last week was hard because it was my last week as a teacher for a very long time. I feel blessed to be able to stay home with him, but right now it just seems odd to not be working and not have a baby here. It's making the time go by rather slowly! I will very much miss teaching and who knows, maybe I'll go back to it someday. We'll see!

I left a wonderful school and really my dream job, they were SO sweet when I left.

And look at all the ADORABLE little boy clothes they gave me. They had given me tons of newborn clothes, so I kept some of them but exchanged for bigger sizes. If little James is like me then he may never wear newborn clothes.. we'll see!

With not working I have lots more energy and so I've gotten some great workouts in over the last few days. My doctor still says it's okay, so I'll keep doing it! I've gained 34 pounds which is still within the suggested 25-35 pounds or 30-40 for underweight.. so 34 at 39 weeks is perfect for me!

38 Weeks - Pumpkin

38 Weeks - Pumpkin (this was supposed to be posted on Tuesday - oops!!)

I feel like a pumpkin, I feel round and HUGE. I know I said that last week, but

wow!!

It's 2 weeks until my due date and my doctor says that I'm not going past it, so
I'll probably have him this week or next. Hmm.. we could have a baby this

week?! That's crazy!!

Yesterday at the doc appt I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced. That's progress!
Today I was a little bit nauseous which is a sign of labor, but that's probably
just in my head. My Braxton Hicks are about 10-15 minutes apart and she said if
they get to every 5-7 minutes then I need to come in..sooo, we'll see!! Knowing
my luck, I'll probably still be saying all of this in 3 weeks.

My last day of work is Thursday and that's very bittersweet. I'm SO excited to
have a baby, but very sad to be leaving work. I want to stay home with baby but
not teaching will be a huge adjustment.

This last week Dave finished the bookshelf, it looks so good!

We have dinners every night this week with different people as last dinner
before baby. We also had a date night last night before baby. I had sushi,
can't wait until it's not imitation crab anymore!

(I feel enormous!! but.. that dress is pre-pregnancy!! woohoo!)

Also, one of my very best friends, Emily, and I have gone crazy and we've
decided to run a marathon, not a half marathon, but a FULL MARATHON in a year.
That will give me the time to recover from delivery, do couch to 5k so I can
run 3 miles (I hope it doesn't take that long, but we'll see), then train for a
half marathon in the fall, and... a FULL marathon in April. We're thinking of
doing it close to our home town so that family and friends can cheer us on. I
guarantee this will be checked off the bucket list only ONCE. So I better make

it count.

We ran the Disney half a year ago and it was so fun! We have a goal of a half

37 Weeks - WinterMelon

37 weeks - full term baby!!

Please excuse the picture, it was taken first thing this morning and I look like I just woke up.. UGH!!

I had a doc appointment yesterday and baby is doing great! I'm 2cm dilated and still 50% effaced. When I asked what her predictions were she said she really doubted that I'd go past my due date. But.. he can do whatever he wants!!

I definitely feel pregnant! Not to complain but... achy hips, cramps, EXHAUSTED!!

I'm due in 3 weeks and my last day of work is next Thursday, unbelievable. My sub started yesterday so I'm teaching my classes and teaching him. It's exhausting, but definitely worth it!!

He's also started hiccuping the last couple weeks which is so cute..annoying.. I mean cute.

Last week we had baby classes, can you believe my husband has never changed a diaper?? I've babysat a million kids and worked in an infant room of a daycare, but I've never bathed a brand new baby or decided when it's an emergency or not, so we had fun.

My in-laws were in town last week too and somehow we decided to take out the infamous throwing knives (remember when I creeped on Dave and posted a pic of him on facebook for everyone to see him being a nerd?) well... now there are pics of me.. 9 months pregnant.. throwing knives... oh dang.

Dave has also been busy on a bookcase for all the awesome books we've gotten from baby showers!

And once again I'm overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. My coworkers had a baby shower and got the little guy a swing, I've heard that will be a lifesaver!

I'm up 31 pounds which is one pound from last week, so I'm hoping to stay in the 25-35 pounds! WOOHOO!

36 Weeks - Honeydew

This is my FAVORITE workout tank/clothing for pregnancy. It's the Lululemon No Limits Tank - I LOVE IT!!!

Wow, it's the start of the 9th month!

I'm definitely feeling pregnant! Still working out, still going to all events, but I'm definitely more tired at night now.

Went to the doctor today and I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced, so any guesses on when he'll come??

Remember the baby shower when everyone guessed? I wonder who is right??

This past weekend was lazy/productive. We got lots of relaxing time and lots of stuff done, again! The nursery doors have been painted the same color as the wainscoting, and they're hung!

I got the carseat installed. We went with a Chicco Keyfit30, I hear great things about it!

At our Crawfish boil baby shower our good friend Laura told me that the month of your birthday you get 50% off one item at Kendra Scott. Our friend Heather gave me a Kendra Scott gift card and said if you're getting 50% off you should definitely get one of the bigger pieces, so.. I went shopping.

Maybe I should do a Crossfit update of what's changed in the past month.

Took breaks to keep heart rate from getting too high. Made sure I can talk during the WOD

don't squat below 90 degrees (takes a lot to get used to)

burpees - pregnant burpees, wall push up and squat = 1 burpee

box jumps - do step ups instead

broad jumps - I will sub those out, they're probably "too jumpy"

Deadlifts - use KettleBell (35#)

double unders - my double unders are UGLY, and my doctor said not to do anything "too jumpy" so I've done singles instead because they're more controlled and efficient

farmer carry - less weight or whatever is comfortable

front squat - without being able to squat below 90 my form is awful on the front squat, so I've used a Kettlebell (goblet squat) and just don't squat the whole way or take the bar off the rack so I don' thave to clean the bar.

goblet squats - do them, just not full depth

handstand pushups - Can't do anything upside down (and I hate it/can't do them anyway), so I do seated dumbell push press

KettleBell Swings - I had been doing 35 pounds, now I do 15 or 20 pounds.

Lunges - oh goodness, these suck.., I'm still doing weighted ones ,etc but they're tough!! Not anymore, I'm now holding onto something so I don' t fall over do lunges.

overhead squats - use a very light bar or PVC

power clean - do from hang position using dumbells to get around the belly

prowler push - I don't do this anymore, there's no way to keep your heart rate down during that

Pullups - I could do a few kipping pullups pre-pregnancy, I then moved to purple band, then red band, and now I'm at blue band. (I'm now at ring rows, the band on my belly is weird)

push press/shoulder press - still do, just less weight (about 75%) - which is 35/45 pounds rather than 55.. like I said, skinny weak girl to start :)

pushups - wall pushups

ring dips - maintained current band (red band)

row - still do, just not for time

run - I'm only rowing now or walking

situps - the scale is knees to elbows, but I hate those so I'm doing russian twists (I've now moved from a 10lb slam ball to a 4 pounder..) Note to self: do situps or knees to elbows because russian twists ARE NOT working your abs.. I've learned the hard way.

slam ball - air squats or slam balls with a big med ball

snatches - doing one armed kb snatch

sumo deadlift high pull - use kettlebell and don't go full depth

supermans - don't do these anymore

toes to bar - I attempt knee ups

wall balls - still do, just not full squat

wall climbs - nothing inverted (and let's be honest.. I hate being upside down), I did 2 pushups and a 10 second plank hold, if back starts hurting then wall pushups and 10 second hanging knee raise

Size of the Baby: honeydew, probably 6 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Ummm.. YES!

Stretch marks: None so far - I've been using Shea butter and BioOil

Weight gain/loss: 30 pounds, which is 2 pounds up from last week, but I had no pounds the week before so I'm still one pound average every week for the whole pregnancy!!

Sleep: I've started not sleeping and I'm up at least 3 times a night.

Best Moment of the Week: Last night I was putting something away in the filing cabinet and I saw the 18 week ultrasound picture. I almost started crying. Sometimes I get frustrated because this little boy is CONSTANTLY moving, but when I saw that cute face I couldn't help but smile/want to cry.

Movement: Like I said, he's constantly moving.

Symptoms: I'm 9 months pregnant.. I have achy hips, heartburn, and a full bladder all the time.

Food Cravings: none really, maybe after 9 months everything I'm eating just seems normal now?

Gender: BOY!

Belly Button in or out: out, it's been out since I swear I gained 2 pounds.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, but heartburn/indigestion

Labor Signs: achy hips, Braxton Hicks I go to the doctor today, we'll see what she says!

Wedding ring on or off: It's still on, yay!
What I miss: being able to get off the couch easily.

What I am looking forward to: doctors appointment today, meeting him!!

Nursery: It's 95 % done!!

Emotions: happy and excited, starting to get anxious!

35 Weeks - Coconut

35 weeks!

A couple months ago I said that pregnancy goes by sooooo slow. Well, maybe it doesn't. To think I've been pregnant since last July does seem like a really long time and once you find out you're pregnant you wait for the first appointment, then you wait to hear the heartbeat, then you wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone (well, maybe..), then you wait to find out the gender, then you wait to get past the late 20s weeks so that you know that if you have the baby everything will be okay... then... it flies!! I can't believe we're just 5 weeks away from our due date.

This past week we crossed many more things off the to do list.

Went on a hospital tour, so now we know where to go once in labor.
Hung the mirror in the nursery.
Bought most of the things left on our registry. I still can't believe how generous people are.
Packed the hospital bags.. craziness.
Bought the rest of the baby bedding, washed it with Dreft, and put it all in the nursery
Got all of my sub plans together for school

We have a dresser full of clothes and those are all for Baby Ball, not even all the hand me downs we've gotten!

So I feel like we're ready to go!

I also had a birthday where friends spoiled me, it was very sweet of them. Dave was in Peru - so jealous!! And my sister sent this very cute package with stuff for me and stuff for baby.

How cute is the blanket she made? And the "momma's little cowboy"? And the Mizzou onesies - yes, we will put him in them!

I didn't gain any weight this week, so I'm still at 28 pounds gained which is perfect!

A couple other things from the week:

We got to enjoy the 80 degree weather in Houston.

Dave made it back safely from Peru!!

And our dogs are still adorable.. :)

34 Weeks - Butternut Squash

I can't believe there are only 6 weeks left!

I feel large, but still gaining a pound a week! Yay!

I had Winter Break last week so it was very relaxing but also busy!!

Dave and I went to the Rodeo and saw Dierks Bentley.

The dresser is painted, has the new drawer pulls on it, and is upstairs in the nursery!

On Friday my mom, dad, aunt, and uncle came into town. My aunt and uncle went to crossfit with us, it's always fun working out with family!

We went and saw Tim McGraw on Friday night at the rodeo and did all the fun rodeo things, saw the livestock, watched the rodeo, had funnel cakes, and watched Mutton Bustin' I SOOO want our son to do it. They're adorable!!

Saturday we had another shower. The hosts did a great job, and everyone had fun at the Crawfish boil! I didn't want a baby baby shower, so they did a great job of not having that!! Although I had loved the last shower that was all about baby!

33 Weeks - Dorian Fruit

Well, I couldn't find a Dorian Fruit this week, so I'm empty handed.

This week has been fun, he's moving! And I swear I can feel arms and feet and elbows and all. I don't know what is what but it feels like limbs!

It's Winter Break this week and since it's 80 degrees outside I'm thinking it's more like spring break. But wow has "spring break" changed. I'm now sitting outside drinking water, reading Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, meeting pediatricians and going to OB appointments! I've also gotten to take the cute dogs on some walks! And still of course working out too!

But.. there are other fun things going on too. I'm getting a massage on a table with a belly cut out - sweet! I CAN'T WAIT! We're having a big Crawfish boil baby shower

and...

we worked on the nursery, a lot!

We got our rocker (thanks mom and dad!)

And the changing table is upstairs along with some pictures on the wall and a rug down. It's not complete, but it's getting there!

The OB appointment went well! Everything is still on track!

32 Weeks - Squash

8 months! I'm officially 8 months pregnant and due in just 8 weeks!

32 Weeks - Baby Ball is a Squash, here is a spaghetti squash which I hope is much bigger than he actually is right now!

This past week has been a fun one. We went to Fort Worth to see one of Dave's childhood friends get married. The wedding was very cute and fun. When you can't have a glass of wine at a wedding the most exciting thing is CAKE! And it was delicious!

We got home on Sunday in time to see one of our friends baby girls, 1 day old. She was so cute and it
made me so excited to have one of my own! But a boy of course :)

While I was at the hospital seeing the baby girl, Dave finished the changing table. It looks awesome! I can't wait to fill it with decorative baskets and start filling it with diapers!

We also found our dresser this weekend. It's solid oak, and I'm (well, Dave is) painting it a soft green. I love it! Can't wait for it to be done and up there too!

So far I've gained 26 pounds which is still right on track with one pound a week! I'm still pretty comfortable, at the end of the day am tired, but I don't feel miserably third trimester yet!

31 Weeks - Pineapple!

31 Weeks - Pineapple!

I do say that all the weight hit my hips and thighs this week, but not as bad as it looks in the picture!! Black on black with these unflattering pants was possibly NOT the best idea!!

This week we checked a lot of things off the to do list!

Finding a Pediatrician - well, almost. How do you know if you like a pediatrician if you don't even have a baby yet to see how the doc works in an appointment?? So.. to start off I

asked friends from the area for recommendations
asked OB for recommendations
checked with insurance to make sure they're In Network
called and scheduled a "prenatal visit"
googled them to see pictures (all doctor's pictures are HORRIBLE!!!)
checked them out on HealthGrades
Then we finally went and met with them.. and...

Well, the first place we went I LOVED the office: bright colors everywhere, a sick entrance, a well entrance, a newborn waiting room.. awesome. I liked the doctor, but I wasn't sold on her. She didn't do/say anything bad, but I wasn't blown away. The second place I went, the office was okay - no sick/well entrance, huge waiting room with lots of toys (germs!!), but I really liked the doctor! He has kids, dogs, does triathalons, loves schedules and is pretty blunt about putting you and baby on a schedule - yay!, and answers all of his own phone calls, no nurse is calling you back, he calls you back! I felt he was so personable, but a friend goes there and doesn't think he's personable.. I'm confused. What if our kid is with this person for the next 18 years?! What am I supposed to look for in a pediatrician?? I think I'll meet with one more person and decide. Right now, I like the personable/schedule following guy best.

Changing table - has a coat of paint on it, soon it'll be up there
Dresser - where does everyone on Pinterest find these adorable dressers that are ready to paint? I can't find any, or everyone in Houston wants $300 for them.. hopefully a lady calls me back today about one.

Last week was busy and good! Friday we got to hang out with an adorable couple and their 8 week old baby. Dave is starting to look like a natural.

Saturday we got a good workout in and Dave worked on the changing table, yay! Saturday night I had a girl's night at a friend's house. They were selling Stella & Dot and I bought this cute gold necklace. How long before Baby Ball rips it off my neck??

Sunday I helped with a Crossfit Teens competition. Watching a little 7th grade girl do 15 pullups unbroken was incredible!!

Then we enjoyed the nice day with a drive in the Camaro, a walk with the dogs, and then had 25-30 people over for a "Sip and See" of the Camaro. I of course took ZERO pictures... oops.

How Far Along: 31 weeks
Size of the Baby: pineapple

Maternity Clothes: Yep, lots of workout clothes and lots of sundresses with leggings this week

Stretch marks: None!

Weight gain/loss: 24 pounds, keeps happening at 1 pound a week!

Sleep: yes, but lots of potty breaks

Best Moment of the Week: lots of time with friends before baby!

Movement: He's really moving!! (especially after sugar..)

Symptoms: hips are starting to ache (I'm "waddling" according to coworkers), swelling some, I feel pregnant :(

Food Cravings: butter.. yep, I love toast, etc right now

Gender: BOY!

Belly Button in or out: out, it's been out since I swear I gained 2 pounds.

Anything making you queasy or sick: No, thank goodness and I think the heartburn was caused by acidic foods

Labor Signs: Nope! But, I don't know if I would know them if I did..

Wedding ring on or off: It's still on sometimes. I get nervous and take it off and don't put it back it on until I'm sure I'm not swollen.

What I miss: not much right now, I'm just excited about baby! I do miss being my normal self though, not pregnant.

What I am looking forward to: meeting him!!

Nursery: We have a crib and curtains!! Can't wait for the dresser and changing table soon!

Emotions: Happy!!

Stupid things I have done: After the BBQ I left the vanilla cake with icing on the counter, Buddy (our 2 year old dog) licked all the icing off the top. To most people that wouldn't be a big deal, but when you're pregnant, you're really sad that the cake is in the trash and you can't have that cake!!!!!
