The last couple of months I have been doing a lot of work reassessing the Seamless brands while we work on their revised designs, both online and off. And in the process I’ve been doing some soul searching about what it is I actually want to do with my time. Over and over again I fall into the trap of saying, “Yes!” to too many things, which has simply resulted in having too little time to focus on the things that make me happy.

So, possibly one of the biggest realizations I made throughout this process was: I do not want to be a wedding blogger.

While I still love weddings, there are just so many other people out there (with blogs I still read and will continue to read) that do a much better job than I. I’ve discovered that it’s really not where my passion lies; and there are many aspects of these events that I’m just not as interested in since getting married. I simply can’t keep up with a project like this on a daily basis when my heart’s not in it.

However, the vast majority of my posts here, and the ones I am most personally connected to (other than those about my own wedding), have some sort of design component to them. I am still completely enamored with invitations, stationery, and any and all visual inspiration. So all of that content will come over with me to design work life. As of now, there won’t be any sort of schedule—it will simply blend right in to the daily posts I continue to publish—but that could change in the future.

I will also still continue to design paper goods for weddings and events through Seamless Paperie—which is getting a huge makeover and expansion in the next few months.

I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do with this space yet, whether it will become a personal—and less often updated—blog, or if it will simply exist as an archive all of our wedding plans. But for the time being, it will no longer be updated regularly.

Thanks so much for your readership over the last year or two. This online space has been a great outlet for me to navigate through the world of wedding planning, and I’ve truly appreciated all the connections I’ve made.

A Low Country Wedding

These lovely invitations were designed by Christine Wisnieski, a talented Cleveland-based designer who I’ve also featured on design work life today. According to Christine, the couple was looking for an invitation suite that was light-hearted easy to use. The resulting design was inspired by South Carolina’s low-country style, and manifested itself in an accordion folded card held together with a paper band. The beautiful letter-pressing was done by Cranky Pressman.

Evan + Bailey: Part 2

Fun fact: Evan and Bailey’s wedding was documented by Brighten Photography, a team that is actually related to the couple. How special it must have been to have such an important day captured on film by the people closest to them. (Sidenote: they have quite the tagline— “weddings full of awesome.” Love it.)

My favorite part about these images is the pure joy you can sense in every one of them—an image without a smile is tough to find. And as previously mentioned, this gorgeous barn wedding is punctuated with pops of bright kelly green, from the wedding party’s attire to the decor details. It’s a happy, vibrant color that seems to really complement the scenery—and the couple—perfectly.

Evan + Bailey: Part 1

I’m so excited to start off this week by sharing another real wedding with you today. If there’s one thing I can tell from the upcoming photos, Evan and Bailey’s Midwest, barn wedding sure looks like it was a whole lot of fun. Before we get to that though, let’s take a look at the invitations; which were designed by the groom, Evan Huwa, and letterpress printed by Lincoln, Nebraska-based Porridge Papers. I am loving all of the typographic details (surprise, surprise), and this vibrant kelly green which you’ll notice pop up all throughout the wedding. Stay tuned for more!
