To obtain the look of perfectly smooth hair, a flat-iron is basically a necessity.  Even those who have naturally straight hair enjoy the ease of an iron.  Although shine and smoothness is beautiful for any occasion, overheating the hair can result in split ends, breakage and frizz.

Everyday more sun bathers are being diagnosed with skin cancer.  Airbrush tanning is the quickest and safest way to stay bronzed through the cloudy days of fall and winter.  With several sun kissed shades to choose from, Headz guarantees a perfectly natural looking tan without a trace of orange.

Airbrush tans only take a few minutes to apply.  Our sugar based solution has a pleasant fragrance and will not permanently stain clothing.  When preparing for your sunless tanning visit, take a warm shower using your favorite exfoliant.  Be sure to shave your legs and underarms and DO NOT apply any lotions or creme once your are dry.  Wear minimal or no makeup to your appointment and avoid light-colored or tight-fitting clothing.

Choosing the deepness of the tan is simple.  Select a tone that is comparable to your skin tone to avoid looking unnatural.  Darker is not always better.

After receiving an airbrush tan, do not sweat or shower for at least 6-8 hours.  If possible wear loose-fitting undergarments or none at all to avoid any rubbing or friction that could potentially cause smudging.  When showering after the 6-8 hour drying period do not use an exfoliant of any kind and keep skin moisturized.  A sunless tan lasts 4-10 days.  Signs of fading are usually noticed on the face first.

These clamp in hair accessories are ideal for those of us who like to change up our look or long for a splash of color. Adding a feather extension provides the illusion of color change without chemically damaging the hair shaft. They are also washable, styleable, and very comfortable.

There is no rule as to how long a feather can be worn. The extension may begin to fray or fade after several weeks of shampooing and styling. Average wear in usually 4-8 weeks. Placement is crucial when fastening these accessories. Choose an area in which the feather can be seen, but is also out-of-the-way for everyday function and wear if pulled into a ponytail that is too tight, some discomfort may occur. Avoid removing the extension and replacing it too frequently because this can cause the metal clamp to weaken or break. It’s best to have a stylist fasten the feather in for you.

These accessories can sometimes create difficultly during a haircut. I suggest having the extension removed before the shampoo and replaced after the cut and style. This will ensure symmetry of the haircut and keep your feathery investment from being cut or textured.

The feathered look is a great accent for ladies of all ages. Not only are they a major convince but also a fabulous way to bring a celebrity style into your everyday look.

It’s important to choose a style that accentuates your facial features and dress. The goal is to be a more beautiful version of yourself not totally change your appearance. If you always wear your hair curly, work with that and wear a updo using your own natural wave. If you typically sport a straight look, just pull your sleek style into a side ponytail or leave the straight ends out to create something fun and flirty. You do not want to change your hair and make-up so drastically that your groom doesn’t recognize you. Use your best features to your advantage.

Although most brides decide on a updo, many are going for a looser-looking style with lots of texture. The days of slick, super tight updos are over. Romantic looks are taking over the bridal world and more times than not, wearing a look that is looser and has a little more movement better accents faces of all shapes. Beachy waves pulled up into something classy produce a much softer appearance while still looking formal. Big curls pinned off of the face with an added hair accessory can add a romantic feel to your look or a funny flair depending on your choice of accessory.

Adding a bedazzled hair pin or a flower that matches your wedding decor to your hair can be the final touch that brings your entire bridal look together. While a headband or clip can be the perfect accent it is possible to have too much of a good thing.  If using pins to add a crystal or decoration be careful with how many are being used. The purpose of these is to add a touch of something to the style, not overtake the look.  When using a headband, be sure to have your stylist hide the sides of the band elegantly in your updo.  When using a flower take the size of the head into consideration.  Choose a flower that is proportionate to head shape and one that doesn’t cover your entire wedding hairstyle.  The idea is to add a touch of your own flair and to many accessories or one that is oversized can be distracting and out-of-place.

Remember that there is no rule that states that hair must be put up for such a special occasion. Sometimes wearing the hair down is more attractive. Depending on the cut of your dress and venue of the ceremony a simple style could be more appropriate. Wearing your hair down for the ceremony also give you the option of putting it up for the reception. Many brides are doing two looks to add a little surprise and drama. After the ceremony pin hair half back with an accessory or have your stylist on location to create a updo that represents the change of atmosphere from ceremony to reception.

However you decide to wear your hair on your wedding day, just remember to choose a style that best represents you. Being confident and comfortable on the happiest day of your life will result in a stunning vision that not your groom or your guests will be able to take their eyes off of.

The bob and other shoulder length cuts are making a big comeback. Adding loose curl or wave to hair of this length gives a textured appearance that we frequently see on the red carpet. Scarlett Johansson rocked this look at the 2011 Oscars making it an instant hit.

Although cute and cool, short hair is not for everyone. For those of you who want to hang on to your length, add a little something to your summer updo. Spice up your ponytail by adding volume in the crown or leave out some bang around your face. Braids are also great this time of year. Do a fishbone or classic braid to the side for a polished or casual look.

This week, we met with stylist,Michelle Brooks at Headz Salon. Michelle was one of the stylists from Headz Salon who styled the models’ hair at Fashion Night Out.

“Changing people’s hair dramatically is one of my favorite things to do,” Michelle says. So when Casey decided she was up for a cut and color, we knew Michelle would create something for her. Here’s what she did.
