Joe Wilson is wrong, apparently often.

As reported by Adam Weinstein in Newsweek, it turns out that Congressman Wilson not only receives government run single-payer health care health care via TRICARE (because he is a retired serviceman), his four sons who also serve in the armed forces do too.

“Military beneficiaries like Wilson—who, as a retiree, is eligible for lifetime coverage—never have to worry about an eye exam, a CT scan, a prolonged labor, or an open-heart surgery. They have access not only to the military’s 133,500 uniformed health professionals, but cooperating private doctors as well—whose fees are paid by the Department of Defense. It’s high-quality care, too: surveys from 2007 and 2008 list TRICARE among “the best health insurer(s) in the nation” by customer satisfaction. Yet Wilson insists government-run health care is a problem.”

But wait, there is more. Congressional records show that Mr. Wilson has voted against health care benefits for veterans no less than eleven times in eight years, while voting for the Bush tax cuts. Of course, Mr. Wilson did take the time to put the cherry on top of his hypocrite pie earlier this year, when he introduced an amendment and argued strongly that TRICARE be protected from any health care reform legislation because he and his four sons really like the quality of health care they get for such a low cost.

Maybe when Congressman Wilson called President Obama a liar, thus implying he was a truth-teller,  he thought it was opposite day. That would explain a lot. Either way, it is pretty obvious to us that he is against government involvement in health care for all Americans not related to Joe Wilson.

In that previous poll, Obama’s approval on his handling of health care was only 40%, with 47% disapproval. Now, he’s at 52%-38% with those same people.

Perhaps, he will take from this, a little leadership goes a long way.

President Barack Obama at 9/11 Tribute Ceremony

The health care reform movement is at its core, a struggle to make sure that every human life is seen as having value and treated with dignity. It is for these reasons, that we have taken time to reflect on the events of 11 September 2001, and to mourn for all those who lost their lives.

Because members of our small Health Care Justice community were present and others had friends and family in New York City and Washington D.C. on that day, eight years ago, we loathe the thought of politicizing the fearful and eventually tragic moments of that day for any reason and by any party. But putting politics aside, we encourage you to listen carefully to who is speaking of the events of 11 September 2001, today, and to consider their tone and message. Think about what else they say as well. We are will not tell you how to process that information — we only urge you to do so.

We are still working for real health care reform, for us it is the best way we can honor the losses and sacrifices of this day eight years ago. However,  ultimately for Health Care Justice today is a day of reflection first, and politics second.

This is a bit longer than our typical posts so, for the sake of continuity we have posted it as a static page for the indefinite future.

Dear Health Care Justice,

Once again, President Obama stepped in front of the prime time TV cameras to attempt to sell the Democrats’ leftist health care scheme to legislators and anyone else who might still be paying attention.

The charm offensive isn’t working. Americans no longer feel the need to give Barack Obama the benefit of the doubt.

They have seen through the hype and media adoration to understand that the Obama Democrats are determined to push their far-left agenda on our country whether the American people like it or not.

You can feel the rising mood of freedom-loving Americans across this country. Not afraid, but incensed and determined, that their government not be a menace to our
hard-earned liberty and prosperity.

They are extremely concerned that the President and his congressional allies are launching an unprecedented assault against the principles upon which America was built.

At town hall meetings, Tea Party protests, and countless other gatherings of concerned patriots, Americans are saying enough is enough. Enough taxes. Enough spending. Enough debt. Enough entitlement. And enough arrogance.Enough.

Those running the Administration and Congress have never seen this kind of public outpouring of dissent. They alone who have the right to protest. They who “know best.” They are wrong.

Our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. Those aren’t just fancy words. They are the bedrock upon which our republic was founded. Whether power hungry officials in the White House and on Capitol Hill like it or not, they are to serve the interests of the people — not the other way around.

Well, the town halls are over, and Congress is back in session. That’s why you still need to show your support for the principled position of fiscal restraint, personal responsibility, and unfettered liberty as opposed to the Obama Democrats in Washington who are trying to force leftist “change” upon our country.

Send a personalized e-postcard, your own “Declaration of Independence,” toBarack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who lead the elitist, “progressive” Democrats.

Let them know enough is enough — you won’t stand idly by while they threaten our livelihoods and liberty with their outrageous Washington power grab.

And when you send your virtual postcard, I hope you will also take this opportunity to make a secure online contribution of $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can to the RNC today to help fund our efforts to recruit and support effective, principled Republican candidates who will know who they work for when they defeat the Democrats this fall and in 2010.
