Garst, Ph.D. (Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Toxicology).

He did NOT aggree on what i wrote in my post, and sent me some webpages to check out. And since he is a Ph. D. of cause i checked out the pages, to see if i was wrong.

This is what the article said:

"Aspartame is made from two amino acids, or protein components, aspartic acid and phenylalanine. Aspartic acid and phenylalanine are building blocks of protein that are found in all protein-containing foods, including meats, grains, and dairy products. Aspartame is made when these two amino acids are joined and a methyl group is added. This methyl group breaks down during digestion and forms methanol."

Since i am not a chemist i had to look up what methanol is and what it does to our body. This is what i found out:

Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, carbinol, wood alcohol, wood naphtha or wood spirits, is a chemical compound with chemical formula CH3OH. It is the simplest alcohol, and is a light, volatile, colourless, flammable, poisonous liquid with a distinctive odor that is somewhat milder and sweeter than ethanol (ethyl alcohol). Firstly, methanol (whether it enters the body by ingestion, inhalation, or absorption through the skin) can be fatal due to its CNS depressant properties in the same manner as ethanol poisoning. Secondly, it is toxic by its breakdown (toxication) by the enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase in the liver by forming formic acid and formaldehyde which cause permanent blindness by destruction of the optic nerve. Fetal tissue will not tolerate methanol. Dangerous doses will build up if a person is regularly exposed to vapors or handles liquid without skin protection. If methanol has been ingested, a doctor should be contacted immediately. The usual fatal dose is 100–125 mL (4 fl oz). Toxic effects take hours to start, and effective antidotes can often prevent permanent damage. This is treated using ethanol or fomepizole. Either of these drugs acts to slow down the action of alcohol dehydrogenase on methanol by means of competitive inhibition, so that it is excreted by the kidneys rather than being transformed into toxic metabolites.
The initial symptoms of methanol intoxication are those of central nervous system depression: headache, dizziness, nausea, lack of coordination, confusion, drowsiness, and with sufficiently large doses, unconsciousness and death. The initial symptoms of methanol exposure are usually less severe than the symptoms resulting from the ingestion of a similar quantity of ethyl alcohol.
Once the initial symptoms have passed, a second set of symptoms arises 10–30 hours after the initial exposure to methanol: blurring or complete loss of vision, together with acidosis. These symptoms result from the accumulation of toxic levels of formate in the bloodstream, and may progress to death by respiratory failure. The ester derivatives of methanol do not share this toxicity.

Ethanol is sometimes denatured (adulterated), and thus made undrinkable, by the addition of methanol!!!! The result is known as methylated spirit or "meths" (UK use). (The latter should not be confused with meth, a common abbreviation for methamphetamine.)

I think that this just proves my point, that:

ASPARTAME IS NO GOOD FOR YOUR BODY!!!

Searle & Company.

Soffritti’s results indicate that Aspartame can cause Cancer in many ways, even when consuming as little as 20mg per kg bodyweight per day. That is less than the amount recommended consuming a day (40-50mg per kg).

His studies also showed that Aspartame increased the growth of tumours by the rats. By the female rats there was an increase of Leukaemia and Lymphomas and Cancer cells in Pelvis and Urethra. By the male rats there was an increase of tumours in the Peripheral nerves.

His studies also showed that Aspartame can NOT help you loose weight…

Does Aspartame make you fat?

Have you ever noticed that the persons who drink light products often are the most overweight? How can that be? Because if the light products worked as they were meant to, then we would all have washboard stomachs…

Besides there have not been made any long term researches on sugar free beverage’s (based on artificial sweets) effect on people’s weight loss.

The opposite seems to be the case. As soon as you taste something sweet on your tongue your body begins to convert the glucose in the blood to fat, which makes the blood sugar drop. Then if the “sweet” that you consume do not contain carbohydrates you will experience low blood sugar and you will feel hunger. The result is that you will eat anything, healthy or not.

Aspartame is not your friend. Aspartame does not save lives. Aspartame is not an efficient product to reduce weight.

If you want to be ealthy: Stay away from products that have Aspartame in them.

They also had higher levels of beneficial minerals such as iron and zinc.

Professor Carlo Leifert, the co-ordinator of the European Union-funded project, said the differences were so marked that organic produce would help to increase the nutrient intake of people not eating the recommended five portions a day of fruit and vegetables. “If you have just 20% more antioxidants and you can’t get your kids to do five a day, then you might just be okay with four a day,” he said.
This weekend the Food Standards Agency confirmed that it was reviewing the evidence before deciding whether to change its advice.

Researchers grew fruit and vegetables and reared cattle on adjacent organic and nonorganic sites on a 725-acre farm attached to Newcastle University, and at other sites in Europe. They found that levels of antioxidants in milk from organic herds were up to 90% higher than in milk from conventional herds.

As well as finding up to 40% more antioxidants in organic vegetables, they also found that organic tomatoes from Greece had significantly higher levels of antioxidants, including flavo-noids thought to reduce coronary heart disease.

Source: Times online.

If so, you have a much lower risk of getting cancer in the ovaries compared to women who do not drink tea every day.

A new study, with over 61.000 women between 40 and 76 years, who has answered surveys about their eating habits has proved this result. The scientists have observed the women for 15 years and found out, that two cups of tea a day, reduces the risk of getting cancer in the ovaries with approximately 46%, while one cup of tea a day reduces the risk by 24%

The scientists think that all types of tea has the same effect, the reason is the big amount of flavonoid which is amongst the most powerful antioxidants.

Source: Reuers Health.

Your blood, which transports all the necessary nutrition’s and carries oxygen round in your body consists of 82% water. Your lungs which supply your body with oxygen consists of 90% water. Your brain consists of 75% water even your bones consists of water, 25%.

That is why the quality of all your cells in the body and their resistance towards injuries and diseases, totally depends on the quality and the quantity of water you drink. Your body constantly need to get water, because your body constantly uses water. It uses water for sweat, respiration and to use in the body in general. The water supply energy and oxygen to your cells, it works as a natural cooling system. Water is also necessary in the digestion system and to get waste products from the metabolism out of the body through respiration, urine and stools.

Here is a short overview of the most important functions that water has i your body:

Absorption and separation nutrients: The body uses water to transport nutrients and oxygen into the cells.

Butters and softens joints and tissue: Water is the main component in the fluids that butters our joints like knees and elbows and water softens the tissue in our skin.

That is why: Drinking more water can often be the most effective way to remove pain from your joints.

Water can help remove wrinkles and soften our skin as well.

Digestion: The fluid in our body such as saliva and so on are important in the digestion of the many billions of molecules of food that we consume every day, so that our body can use the nutrition from the food.
Lack of water will delay the digestion process and give stomach problems.

The best thing to do:

Drink a big glass of water 30 minutes before you eat, and then just a little while eating.

That way you are a little less hungry and you do not wash the nutrition’s through the body.

To be Continued......

Most of the water is saltwater and undrinkable. Only 3% of the water on earth is drinkable. The most of us unfortunately know very little about something as important as the survival of our planet and thereby also animals, peoples and plants conditions for life. But if you think about the following facts, signification of water for you and your health very likely become more obvious: Of the 6 seminal fundamental nutrients - protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and water – is water by fare the most important nutrient in the human body.

About 65-70% of our bodyweight is water. The exact number of litre depends among other things on how much you are scaling and how your muscle mass and body fat appears compared to your weight. However, whatever you weigh and how much water you carry, you do not have a lot of water in reserve. There for your “water account” must at all times be kept in balance and if you drain too much water out of your body, it can go wrong very fast:

If you drain 1 L. on your “water account” you will feel pretty thirsty.
If you drain 2 L. you will feel extremely thirsty.
If you drain 4 L. you will feel very very badly.
And before you have drained 8 L. you will almost be dead.

A human can only survive a few days with out water but can survive several weeks with out food. That is why doctors and nutritionists recommend drinking plenty of water.

How much water should one drink, depends on a lot of things: Your weight,
The temperature you are in.
Physically or psychological effort one is exposed to.

Too many people underestimate the waters significance to ones health.

If you are constantly dehydrated it affects your hart and blood circulation, your metabolism and your digestion.

IF YOU ARE THIRSTY IT IS ALLREADY TOO LATE! ! ! !

Here is a picture that might shine some light on the problem:

If you think of your body as a plant houseplant in your living room. You forget to water it for some time and the soil dries out, what happens when you then water it? ? ?

All the water ends in the flowerpot and the soil will be dry really fast.

If you water your houseplant regularly the soil will always be wet. It is the same way with your body, if you drink a lot of water, you will keep your body healty.

Some of the symptoms of dehydration: You will feel tired, you will gain weight, you age quicker, the immune system is weakened and it takes longer time to gain strength after training or after you have been ill.
