			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What would it mean if someone told you that she was <strong>getting healthy with Fibromyalgia</strong>? Does it mean that she&#8217;s getting really, really well and no longer has symptoms? Or just that she&#8217;s found some ways to cut down on her symptoms and is feeling a tiny bit better?</p>
<p>Is this level of health even possible for someone suffering with Fibromyalgia? Surely the title phrase implies that getting healthy is an attainable goal. So I ask you, how does anyone feel good enough to say he or she has gotten over this confounded illness!??!</p>
<p>The reality is there are people who will tell you that they no longer have Fibromyalgia. Up until now, there weren&#8217;t that many of them or at least we didn&#8217;t hear about them. And the ones who did proclaim it usually found a level of healing through vitamins or supplements of some kind, which required a constant investment of money and time&#8211; possibly over a long period of time.</p>
<p>And the other people? The ones who improved, but you don&#8217;t know how they did it because they kind of faded away into the sunset&#8230; back into life and back into the workforce, never to be heard of again? How did they improve their health so much? How did they feel well enough to resume anything approaching a normal life?</p>
<p>Well, here are 2 answers, 4 tips, plus a video which might help:<br />
<span id="more-8268"></span><br />
<strong>a)</strong> Some people manage their life and symptoms well enough to survive by taking prescription drugs. Example: Lyrica, which is made by Pfizer, a major drug corporation and the source of the video below. (Take note of the 4 tips listed there.)</p>
<blockquote><p>Note: taking a drug as a &#8220;solution&#8221; is normally longterm at best and costly at worst, because Lyrica does not cure Fibromyalgia. It simply helps to alleviate the symptoms as long as you take the drug. As far as I know, it makes no claim to &#8220;cure&#8221; Fibromyalgia.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>b)</strong> The rest of the people use alternative health methods to improve, feel better and return to normal living. (I&#8217;ll be bringing you more about this soon, but for now, you&#8217;re welcomed to watch a second, short video here. It explains how I got so much better because of <strong>Sacred Cellular Healing</strong>. (Today this video resides on the right side of the page, but I can&#8217;t guarantee you how long it will sit here. I change the website all the time! So, watch it today before you leave.)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://healthmattershow.com/pain-relief-through-mindfulness/raisins/" rel="attachment wp-att-9224"><img src="http://healthmattershow.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/raisins-150x150.jpg" alt="raisins" title="raisins" width="150" height="150" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-9224" /></a>You and I can have some control over how much pain we <i>feel</i> at any given moment (e.g. <strong>pain relief</strong>) through the practice of <b>mindfulness.</b> I&#8217;ve written about this subject of practicing mindfulness this week and today I&#8217;m prepared to talk about it and give you some useful examples. Before you listen to the audio podcast today, be sure to get out your two raisins and have them handy. You&#8217;ll see why in a minute.</p>
<p>Even though you and I have suffered at times with chronic pain, <strong>Fibromyalgia</strong> or <strong>Chronic Fatigue Syndrome</strong>, as living human beings, we are more in control of our lives than we think we are. We make purposeful choices of what to believe, what to allow in our lives, what to eat, when to sleep and who to be friends with. We can even choose how much weight and importance to assess to the matter of being in pain and how we approach the subject of pain relief. </p>
<p>Now I&#8217;m not saying that you&#8217;re causing your <strong>chronic pain</strong>. Mindfulness, as a concept, isn&#8217;t meant to be that simple or drawn in that fine a line. What I do mean is that through practicing mindfulness, you can make a stab at (pardon the pun) controlling your pain&#8230; even chronic pain. Dear One, it is doable and today I&#8217;ll show you how to get started in using mindfulness as your own practice and healing tool.<br />

moments of awareness, small changes, small <strong>healings</strong> or a whopping, wham-doozie-sized personal change that allows you to experience more profound and complete healing, <em><strong>change </strong></em>is the operative action word when it comes to causing a major turnaround in your health situation. </p>
<p>(Mindfulness can help you arrive at the point where change is possible because mindfulness encourages  new awareness levels.)</p>
<p>You and I undergo &#8220;change&#8221; all the time. That why it is very possible for you to become a changed person for the better. </p>
<blockquote><p><strong><em>Your job from here on out, if you choose to accept it, is to make sure that the changes that you make positively affect your life.</strong></em></p></blockquote>
<p><span id="more-8909"></span><br />
However, no one experiences change and healing in a vacuum. You have to be willing to change. You cannot be afraid of the very change that is needed. To heal, you must expect to change the circumstance and attitudes that you have now&#8230; e.g., the ones that probably contributed to your getting sick in the first place! (Maybe???) I encourage you to explore finding your needed areas of personal change through a practice of <em><strong>mindfulness.</strong></em></p>
<p>In the simplest and truest expression of love, God facilitates and joins us in our healing. (He created your body to be perfectly capable of healing. Under most circumstances, your body can right itself and be healthy again. If you didn&#8217;t see what I shared with you earlier, take <a href="http://healthmattershow.com/healing-chronic-fatigue-syndrome/"><strong>a look at the video I created about this topic</strong></a>. When you get there, scroll down to see the video.)</p>
<p>You may experience <em><strong>your healing </strong></em>by yourself or with friends, comrades or professional people in the healing field.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Look for healing experiences.</strong> Don&#8217;t miss them because you&#8217;re not paying attention!</li>
<li><strong>Have the courage to change. </strong>Change doesn&#8217;t have to be scary. It is a natural part of life.</li>
<li><strong>Begin to heal because of your changes. </strong>Most people are capable of a fantastic level of healing. Everyone is capable of feeling at least some better.</li>

<p>This information often shows up as tiny &#8220;awareness&#8221; spurts, like bubbles floating to the surface of a pond. Or you may sense them more as giant leaps forward, truly wowing you with some new found revelation. Either progression can be exciting, but it&#8217;s important to notice and respect each one.<br />
<span id="more-8920"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>The more subtle &#8220;healing&#8221; changes require your silence and physical inactivity. Go and do too much and you may miss them entirely because you&#8217;re too busy. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s important that you have downtime in your schedule, such as engaging in a mindfulness practice. Each change appears in your life for a purpose. Don&#8217;t take a chance that you might miss one entirely. </p>
<p>Pick moments of pure silence, expect revelations and miracles. Then be alert enough to sense the miracle of a change&#8217;s authentic moment in your life. Be prepared for whatever comes your way. The bolder changes may figuratively knock you over when they occur. Oh, happy days! Bring &#8216;em on!</p></blockquote>
<p>As you become more aware of your life, how you got sick and your new role in the healing process, I pray that you are able to discover and experience each of these important steps along the road of your healing journey.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How long do you think it will take to see medical breakthroughs concerning the new <strong>XMRV retrovirus </strong>and <strong>Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)</strong>? Since we&#8217;ve been twenty + years getting to this point, one might think&#8230; a long time. But, you could be wrong.</p>
<p>As report in <b><a href="http://www.rgj.com/article/20091101/NEWS/911010342/1321/Medical-breakthrough-put/s-Reno-in-spotlight">RGJ.com</a></b>:<br />

<blockquote><p><em>The National Cancer Institute already has started working on a vaccine, and clinical trials are expected to begin at the Whittemore-Peterson Institute sometime next year, Mikovits said.</p>
<p>The world&#8217;s largest pharmaceutical companies have been calling the institute asking if they can test their lines of a drug now used to treat patients with HIV, another retrovirus, to see if their anti-viral drugs can be adapted to treat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients.</p>
<p>&#8220;They want us to send them the (XMRV) retrovirus so they can screen huge libraries of compounds and see what they have that could work,&#8221; Mikovits said. &#8220;They already have drugs to treat HIV, so they could redesign a compound for the XMRV virus. Since they already have FDA approval, they could get something out to people fast.</em></p></blockquote>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-670" href="http://healthmattershow.com/studying-fibro-and-cfs-the-truth-youre-seeking/olderwomanbookwhiterobe/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-670" title="olderwomanbookwhiterobe" src="http://healthmattershow.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/olderwomanbookwhiterobe-150x150.jpg" alt="olderwomanbookwhiterobe" width="150" height="150" /></a>To begin our discussion and help us figure out how to promote our <strong>healing</strong> through the practice of <strong>mindfulness</strong>, let&#8217;s cheat a little and look at the flip side of the coin first: Just how bad is it to remain unaware of what&#8217;s really going on in your body -and- be unhealthy and chronically sick?</p>
<p>Well, these are important issues. On the surface, this shouldn&#8217;t be impossible because your body is <em>supposed to know how to heal</em> itself. BUT, if it won&#8217;t (or can&#8217;t) cooperate and do this, thus enabling you to be healthy and balanced, if it can&#8217;t right itself, then something is seriously wrong with one of more parts of you!</p>
<p>Essentially, some major stressor is impairing your health and blocking your recovery. (You can think bacteria, virus, your insufferable boss, anyone or anything that is seriously impairing your physical safety, mental health, emotional happiness or spiritual security of who you are in this world.) The plain fact is, at this moment in time, your body can&#8217;t figure out how to be healthy.</p>
<div><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">So, how do you promote your own healing? </span></strong></div>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: small;">Is mindfulness something that you can do to help your body heal?</span></strong><br />

If you look at the problem only from the perspective of your physical body and not your cognitive mind, you may find some causal reasons for dysfunction and maybe some answers. However, if you also suffer with brain fog, the act of thinking, studying and reasoning becomes that much more difficult. You&#8217;re now dually impaired and at a disadvantage of accomplishing your &#8220;healing&#8221; task by yourself.</p>
<p><span style="color: #2f8c8c;"><strong><span style="font-size: medium;">Here&#8217;s Your To-Do List Today:</span></strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li><strong><font color="2f8c8c">Look for and expect moments of clarity during your less stressful moments each day. Seek them out. Regard them and guard them as being precious, because of their value in your ongoing healing process. </strong> 
<li><strong>Consider practicing mindfulness. Find it below. It&#8217;s a truly, fabulous book backed up by quite a bit of science.</strong></font color></li>
</ul>
<p></strong>If you learn &#8220;mindfulness,&#8221; it is an easy and amazing tool that you can pull out of your personal wellness treasure chest and use anytime, anywhere. Plus, you&#8217;ll have a better chance of figuring out your illness problems if you practice mindfulness because you&#8217;ll think more clearly and get better answers.</p>
<blockquote><p><em>On a very personal note, I had an exceptional moment of clear thinking and inspiration by practicing a form of mindfulness this morning while I was in the hot tub. After a minute or two to settle in place, I began to pray, be still and wait&#8230; . God&#8217;s presence &#8216;met&#8217; me there among the soothing, swirling waters. He provided another part of my healing and health puzzle by bolstering me with special inspiration and hope that I needed today. It felt marvelous to be in the presence of someone who cares about me so much.</em></p></blockquote>
<p>When you and I choose to be quiet and reverent, we are able to think better and more clearly. We are able to interpret the world around us in a more <em><strong>mindful</strong></em> way. Think about the still, small voices in your head that get to finally be heard above the din of pain and agony. Above the doubts and shouts of anger and futility that will be quieted.</p>
<p>Dear One, healing can come in small, mindful, quiet moments as well as the huge, fantastic ones that spark total healing. I know you want healing in your life. Find those special moments whenever and wherever you can.</p>

<p>If something is too loud, your inner critic (that decides what&#8217;s best for you) may get overwhelmed and not be able to make itself known above the noise. Unless you&#8217;re sensitive to what is going on, you might ignore the warning signs and miss a valuable level of awareness.</p>

<p>And once you&#8217;ve done all that plus you&#8217;ve begun to practice mindfulness, as I already recommended that you do, I&#8217;m positive that your health will have started to improve. Yes, when you pay yourself forward with that kind of care and attention, you will realize powerful health benefits.</p>
<div><strong><em>Have you ever heard of anyone meditating to loud music?</em></strong></div>
<div><strong><em>I don&#8217;t think so.</em></strong></div>
<p><strong><em><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #2f8c8c;"><strong>When you still your mind, healing can happen.</strong></span></span></em></strong></p>

<blockquote><p>This type of action shows itself to be true in an opposite fashion in people suffering with Fibromyalgia.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s possible that you become totally overwhelmed with pain and body discomfort. Your nerves feel <em>overloaded</em>. Through a central processing-type error, nerve centers cause a ramping up of exaggerated pain signals. This results in a system-wide escalation of pain that overwhelms the sufferer. In effect, you experience a pain cascade that is very difficult, if not impossible, to control even with narcotic pain medicine.</p>
<p>The type of control that you can gain through the practice of a mindfulness routine may help with a Fibromyalgia pain overload problem. You won&#8217;t know the benefits unless you try.</p></blockquote>
<p>I encourage you to keep noise and distraction levels down in your life. You&#8217;ll not only feel better, but you&#8217;ll give yourself a better chance at real healing. If you&#8217;ve ever wondered how much money is being spent to investigate the cause and cure for <strong>Chronic Fatigue Syndrome </strong>(<strong>CFS</strong>, <strong>CFIDS</strong>), I&#8217;m sorry to say it&#8217;s not nearly enough. Over twenty years have gone by with some the same people in charge of the information being put out, the research being done and the ongoing influence that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and National Institute of Health (NIH) are <em>doing</em> I use that word gingerly. The progression of our goals for CFS/ CFIDS is languishing on the sidelines.</p>
<p>Take a look at just one of the testimonies going on this weekend. What do you think of it? Can you hear the passion in this woman&#8217;s voice for her husband? What can and will you do to <strong>raise awareness </strong>of these issues? Will something you say on your blog raise awareness within your circle of friends and readers? How about your Twitter account or Facebook page? What can you share on a platform or within a forum? Can you raise awareness at your local political level in the town and state where you live?</p>
<p>Dear One, if we don&#8217;t take the time and make the effort to raise awareness, many of the issues that we care about so strongly will not be pushed to the top of anyone&#8217;s agenda. The struggle is left to us, our families and our friends. Don&#8217;t give up fighting. Don&#8217;t give up. We&#8217;re at an important starting point in the information and research of XMRV retrovirus and so many issues.</p>
<p>Push forward? We absolutely must.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://healthmattershow.com/election-day-how-will-you-survive-at-the-polls/americanflags/" rel="attachment wp-att-8865"><img src="http://healthmattershow.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/americanflags-150x150.jpg" alt="americanflags" title="americanflags" width="150" height="150" class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-8865" /></a>With <strong>Election Day </strong>being tomorrow, Nov. 2nd, it might be a good time for people with  <strong>health issues</strong>, such as those suffering with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, to think ahead. You don&#8217;t want to face any big surprises at the polls. The time you spend now planning for your election day trip might help you make it there safely and with fewer symptoms after the event is over.</p>
<p>Last year I wrote <b><a href="http://healthmattershow.com/voting-day-when-you-dont-feel-well/">a post about health issues on election day</a></b> and the information is worth your time and energy to review again. </p>
<p><b>Plus, here are a few more tips:</b> (If you think of any more, comment below and send them in. Maybe what you contribute will help out someone else.)<br />
<span id="more-8850"></span></p>
<ul>
<li><b>Consider hitching a ride</b> to your precinct with a neighbor or a friend. That way they can let you off at the door if you&#8217;re having trouble by the time you arrive. If you do okay, maybe you&#8217;ll even have enough energy for a quick lunch or dinner!</li>
<li><b>Take a cane or walker if you need it.</b> People might notice you using it, but at least they won&#8217;t notice you when you fall on the floor and hurt yourself. Always guard your safety in public places.</li>
<li><b>And always prepare adequately for your comfort and the weather.</b> I talked about that in the previous post, but this tip can never be emphasized too much. Prepare, prepare, prepare. If you don&#8217;t need an umbrella, fine. You can stash it in your purse or pocket. If you don&#8217;t need a jacket, you can throw it over your arm. If you don&#8217;t need a bottle of water or a pain pill while you stand in line, don&#8217;t get them out. At least you have them with you.</li>
</ul>
<p>By preparing ahead of the journey, you have what you need when you need it. Think ahead and be well, my friend.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I bet I know what you&#8217;re thinking when you read this title, <strong><i>Healing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome</strong></i>: &#8220;There is no cure for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome&#8230; yet.&#8221; Today I want you to expand your mind beyond this widely held belief. Instead of <em><strong>cure</strong></em>, think more in terms of <em>getting well </em>and <em>healing</em>.<br />
<blockquote>Cure is not the right word to use&#8230; not now. Cure is a purely traditional medicine, westernized term. It&#8217;s used solely by medical doctors, researchers and scientists. To date, they have not come up with a &#8220;cure&#8221; for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.</p></blockquote>
<p>In integrative, alternative, mind/body/spirit medicine, the two terms <em>getting well </em>and <em>healing </em>(or healed) are used when someone&#8217;s health status gets better and his or her body is on the mend. The terms imply a significant improvement in an otherwise sick person&#8217;s level of health.<br />
<blockquote><b><i><font color="2f8c8c">And, if you&#8217;re anything like me when my health was so bad with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome plus&#8230;, I really didn&#8217;t care what anyone called anything. The only thing that I knew was that I wanted to get well. </p>
<p>So when I began to feel better and my life re-surfaced from the ash heap, everything in my world brightened overnight. Finally, I felt better. I was free of nagging, hanging-on-type health problems. I was finally healthy again!!</p></blockquote>
