			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>By now, almost everybody has seen the late night and early morning acne infomercials with Jessica Simpson and Sean &#8220;Diddy&#8221; Combs. I guess they figure, if a celebrity trusts something, then so should you. The promises made for the product sound surreal, and yet for many people it may be just the cure they&#8217;re looking for. Even so, it may not be for everybody.</p>
<p>One of my daughters who had acquired a bad case of acne in recent years, tried the infomercial solution, and it didn&#8217;t work on her at all. Being a young teenager, she was beset by acne breakouts and needed a solution fast. But unable to find a quick solution, we ended up going to the local dermatologist for acne information and answers. The doctor gave her a prescription for a cream and an oral medication. After following his instructions for a couple weeks, her acne had virtually departed. This was the right solution for her, but it may not be for you &#8211; because we&#8217;re all different.</p>
<p>Here are some general tips that I&#8217;ve discovered over the years:</p>
<p>If you have oily skin &#8211; it&#8217;s best to take a medicated acne product or one in gel form.</p>
<p>If you have dry skin &#8211; you&#8217;ll probably do better with the acne cream form and medicated products with benzoyl peroxide or salycic acid.</p>
<p>If you have both oily AND dry skin (combined type) &#8211; you will probably need a combination of oily skin gels and dry skin acne creams to apply to different parts of your fact according to the skin condition there.<br />

If you have sensitive skin &#8211; you will more than likely need less intense concentrations of either dry, oily, or combined-type treatments.</p>
<p>If you have skin pain because of acne &#8211; you should get personal attention from a dermatologist.</p>
<p>So many people struggle with skin afflictions on a regular basis. With the advances in science, you&#8217;d think that the acne problem would have been solved long ago and that acne would be a pale memory. Unfortunately the age-old confidence destroyer is still around and going strong.</p>
<p>Today, reaching middle age, I find myself in a new situation when it comes to unsightly blemishes. Now I find that my skin tends to be a bit oily and I have acne breakouts after moisturizing my face. One of the few things I look forward to as I get older is the absence of acne.</p>

<p>One of the problems with melatonin is that most of the studies were done on animals, like rats, and not humans. Animal studies are used by the scientific community to indicate whether a substance has promise, and can yield valuable results even though they are ethically reprehensible and other alternatives exist. One such study was done at the University of Texas Health Science Center.</p>
<p>Whilst it was funded by a grant from the California Walnut Industry, these scientists were able to establish not only that walnuts contained melatonin, but that it was able to be absorbed &#8211; at least by rats. But they believe humans would also be able to absorb melatonin from walnuts. Unfortunately, they don&#8217;t know how many walnuts you&#8217;d have to eat to get the benefits they established as a potential in this study. It might be a lot! But using food as a source of melatonin is a good option given that it is much safer, particularly if suffering from serious illnesses.</p>
<p>University of Texas scientists also found that melatonin had an antioxidant effect. Antioxidants protect our cells from damage by oxidation. Antioxidants slow down the aging process, and interestingly, melatonin levels often decrease with age.</p>
<p>The antioxidant effect of melatonin has been presented before. Dr Reiter, also of the University of Texas Health Science Center, believes it can protect the central nervous system as well as the body generally from free radicals. He also thinks melatonin can increase the body&#8217;s own production of another antioxidant, glutathione peroxidase.<br />

People who should not take melatonin supplements are:</p>
<p>* children<br />
* pregnant women<br />
* breastfeeding mothers<br />
* couples trying to conceive<br />
* people with serious allergies<br />
* HIV and cancer patients</p>
<p>Whilst it is not recommended that people with cancer take melatonin, this is primarily for the reasons that not enough research has been done on humans, at least according to Dr Kenneth Cooper. But some of the research that has been done with people suggests that melatonin may be very helpful &#8211; if it is taken with the supervision of a doctor. And herein lies the crux of the problem &#8211; melatonin is a very powerful substance. Only small doses are needed to create improvements. For example, Dr Cooper cites the example of dosages as small as 2 to 3 mg only, for some people suffering insomnia.</p>
<p>Overall, melatonin is very promising, and may well help people with serious illnesses like cancer and multiple sclerosis. In the meantime, increasing our dietary intake of foods like walnuts that potentially supply us with this wonderful nutrient, may have a host of protective health benefits as well as slowing down the aging process.</p>

<p>5. Your own organic vegetables will be much more tasty. The use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones and antibiotics make vegetables grow unnaturally and take the taste away from them. With organic vegetables, your cooking will be enhanced as their flavour will show fully.</p>
<p>6. Organic farming is friendly to the environment. Because you won&#8217;t use pesticides or other equally harming products on your vegetables, you will not damage the soil or the air with the chemical components.</p>
<p>7. When you grow your own organic vegetables you are contributing to your own self-sustainability and the sustainability of the planet. Small communities have been founded where members exchange products that they grow naturally, thus contributing to create a friendly and better place for us all.</p>
<p>In the end, eating organic products only means that we do not add anything else to them than they would naturally have. As you can guess, additives, fertilizers, pesticides or hormones are not components of naturally grown food. <p>It was proposed that a binaural beat occurs in the brain if you apply slightly different frequency sine waves independently but simultaneously to each ear. This beat affect is created by the brain itself and is largely due to the structure of the brain&#8217;s internal wiring.</p>
<p>These binaural beats are auditory brainstem responses, originating in the superior olivary nucleus of each hemisphere of the brain due to the interaction of the two different impulses.</p>
<p>The frequency of the two tones is between one and 30 Hz. Lets take the example that the difference between the two tones is 10 Hz. This 10 Hz difference is experienced within the superior olivary nuclei as a beat . The brain has a tendency, through the frequency following response, to resonate at the same frequency as the auditory stimuli being presented. In our example this would be 10 Hz, which is that frequency of the Alpha state. If we offer a binaural frequency of 5 Hz, the brain will begin to resonate with that and produce Theta brainwaves. If we present a binaural beat of 3 Hz, Delta brainwaves are detected. Alpha, Theta and Delta brainwaves are connected to altered states of consciousness that can be used to reprogram the subconscious mind, eliminate negative thought schemas and release emotional connection to memories.</p>
<p>In layman’s terms all this means is that you can relax, put on some stereo headphones and let your mind synchronize with the binaural beat frequency to create real measurable changes in your mind and body.<br />
