Hair Growth depends fundamentally on the kind of head of hair a person has. Different people have different kinds of Hair Products which means that the color, growth along with thickness of the locks are different. Some locks grow faster as opposed to others while some are sluggish and might take decades to achieve the desired duration. Many formulas and techniques have been introduced to boost the hair growth as many men and women get sick and worn out while waiting for their head of hair to reach that needed length. The fact that slim and short head of hair look extremely unpleasant is one thing as no person wants to look bald.

For hair growth several procedures have been unveiled some of which are organic while others require medical treatment. The right vitamins can easily boost your hair growth, it will not be like waking up in addition to finding your hair very long as the process of Hair growth is long and cannot be effective overnight. There are also good and useful shampoos offered by distinct hair product corporations which increases the new hair growth rate and also helps it be smooth and soft. But before using almost any product it is better to consult a dermatologist to make sure that it is suitable for the hair type.

Hair fall is an additional issue which has disappointed people tremendously since no one wants to lose locks. It is necessary to realize that it is due to the heat doing you hair at rage nowadays and also because of the detrimental diet most of the people abide by these days. Hair fall options have been introduced, most companies have launched solutions to prevent excessive hair loss and have come up with a ton significant products. Thinning hair occurs because of the fact that the hairs are not effectively nourished and are usually not cleaned as thoroughly cleaned as is also required.

The French version of Elle magazine published a piece last week by their fashion writer/blogger Nathalie Dolivo that is causing a flap this week. In essence Dolivo said the black community in the U.S. lacked real fashion sense until the Obamas arrived.

The passage from the piece that has offended perhaps the most reads: “In this America, led for the first time by a black president, chic has become a plausible option for a community (the African-American community) that up until now pegged to its streetwear codes.” Dolivo also wrote that since the arrival of the Obamas on the scene black fashion has grown by adopting “white codes of fashion.”

Reaction from Elle’s French editor

With a storm of negative reaction to Dolivos’s remarks, the French Elle has taken the story down from its website but has not apologized. The Italian version of Vogue magazine reports that Elle’s french editor-in-chief, Valérie Toranian, has stated that the influence of Michelle Obama on black fashion in America was comparable to the influence Kate Middleton has had on fashion in the U.K. or Jackie Kennedy on American fashion in the 60′s.

Shout out to my friend Shay for bringing this article to my attention. It’s a hefty reminder of how grateful I am to be natural and 18 years free of a relaxer. If you still relax your hair after reading this then you truly need therapy. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

As women we are constantly reinventing our hairstyles, testing new products, visiting the hairdresser and doing our follow up hair treatments at home. We generally don’t pay close attention to what goes onto our hair because we trust the brand we use to treat and look after our hair. I came across this article in The Grio online which I thought would be great to share with our readers who relax their hair. Please note that some images contained in this story are graphic. “From the time she was a small child until she was a teenager, Annmarie Spellen chemically straightened her hair — a process that left her nursing burns and scabs on her scalp afterwards. The hospital worker and mother of two from New Jersey said she got burned “all the time” despite using no lye relaxers and having the stylist wash the relaxer out immediately after putting it in.

“I did it for as long as I could,” said Spellen, who has worn her hair in dreadlocks for the past ten years. “I tried, and I just couldn’t do it. It was just too devastating. It was like going through a trauma.” But the scalp burns weren’t the only health problem she experienced following a chemical relaxer.

“I would go home with these massive headaches,” Spellen said. “And I couldn’t understand why.” Black women spend billions annually on beauty products, and many place special emphasis on keeping their hair styled. They buy a third of all U.S. hair care merchandise, according to industry statistics. The black hair care business has ballooned into a multimillion dollar trade.

In the cold dry air of winter many types of skin problems often flare up. In Syracuse where the winter weather conditions are often very harsh, natural treatments for skin problems are appreciated by people suffering from more skin problems than usual this time of year. An extract made from rose has surfaced as a good remedy for the common skin complaints associated with winter.

Dr. Richard Foxx has reported for The Doctors Health Press “Use This Herb to Help Soothe Dry Skin.” The effects of rose extract on human skin cells has been studied by researchers at the School of Life Sciences, University of Kingston, in the United Kingdom. These researchers have assessed the effectiveness of three plant extracts for their potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in human skin “fibroblasts” along with their capacity to prevent free radical damage.

Fibroblasts are cells which are made of connective tissue that produces and secretes fibers. The fibers could be collagen, reticular and/or elastic. Fibers which are produced by fibroblasts help to maintain your skin health, particularly when it comes to wound healing and tissue repair. The structural framework for many other tissues in your body are also provided by fibroblasts.

To be honest, a celebrity endorsing something usually makes me want it less because i know they’re being paid to be there more so then honestly sharing their experience with a product. It was ok to see a celebrity sharing their weight loss experience with a diet program when it was just one at a time, but lately these companies have starting bombarding the airwaves with celebrity endorsements making me believe in them even less. Working out and eating healthy are super important, but shoving a celeb down my throat every commercial break is not going to make me want to get on the diet program. Leave a comment and let me know what you think

Will African-American Celebs Promoting Weight Loss Programs Actually Encourage Us?

Over the holiday season, it’s not abnormal to see commercials for weight loss programs — the New Year is coming and almost everyone I know (myself included) is trying to drop those pesky extra pounds. But what did stand out to me was how many Black celebs were in these commercials.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, who has been promoting Weight Watchers since last spring, has lost a whopping 80 pounds. Her newest commercial has her old larger self singing to her new smaller self. But other R&B divas, namely Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson, have joined in the weight loss game, promoting Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem, respectively.

On one hand this is a good thing. Not just for their pockets, but for the everyday Black woman.

Most of the celeb spokespeople are not of color, making it difficult for many of us to see how these programs relate to us. But perhaps women we can identify with who are not scary skinny can encourage us to do the same, which is something we desperately need to do. According to the U.S. Office of Minority Health, in 2009 Blacks were 1.5 times more likely to be overweight or obese than whites. African-American women are 60 percent more likely to be obese than White women and about four out of five African-American females are now either overweight or obese.

Black hair is among the most difficult to maintain due to its structure, but all natural black hair care products can ease the difficulty to an extreme. The tight, corkscrew shape that black hair naturally has leads to many problems with dryness and breakage making the kind of hair care products chosen all the more important for healthy, appealing hair. There are plenty of products to choose from for good hair care to be normal but there are certain ingredients in regular black hair care products that can actually lead to a dryer head of hair and make the already prominent breakage problem all the worse.

In a lot of average hair care products there are sulfates all throughout the inside of the product itself. Sulfates are the problem as they exacerbate the issues that come with having the dense textured hair that is so common through all black hair. Because of this denseness oil cannot saturate the follicle thus drying out the entire length of the hair, sulfates dry out the follicle even more something that you don’t want for healthy hair without breakage. This is where all natural black hair care products come in to save your glorious mane.
