Are you bored? Are you trying to kill time? Are those mindless re-runs on T.V making you want to jump of the second floor of your house? Well you don’t have to anymore. There are countless hobbies and activities out there that are easy and fun to do. Here is a suggestion – How about brewing your very own beer? Who knows, you might even start a world-class beer brand name!

But before we begin here is a joke…..

How does a man show that he is planning for the future?
He buys two cases of beer!

LOL…not so funny…. Ok I am sorry let’s back to our business.

Almost everyone, when they retire, start thinking of some or the other activity to keep themselves busy and to keep their mind and body from becoming rusty. Some of them try plane modeling, some try wine making. Some make beer.

Making wine and beer with permissible limits of alcohol is fine and you don’t have to be weary of what you are going to make.

First, what you need are the basic raw materials and the equipment to start the beer project. These can be found online or at your local liquor store. These Beer making kits can be anywhere from 50 $ to a 100 $. Considering the fact that you could sell your product one day, these prices shouldn’t put you back that much.

The number one thing to remember in choosing a home microbrewery kit is that you want to buy a kit that includes all ingredients. This requires a bit of research so that you are aware of the necessary materials. There are several online resources detailing the process and materials for brewing beer at home, and these will help you make a checklist of items that should be included in your kit.

Beer making is a lot of fun and it can also teach you a thing or two. You can try various combinations of the ingredients and make your own special tasting brew. You can learn a lot of things from this homemade Beer Project. For instance, you can tweak or modify or adjust certain controls on your Beer making equipment to get the taste that you want. You can make your very own beer recipe and distribute it among your friends and have them review your beer or you can publish it on an online beer making blog.

The ideal location to do this project would be in your garage or in your basement. That way you wouldn’t be in the way of anyone, and you can go on for hours experimenting and improving your beer making techniques. You can set up your garage or basement with the beer making equipment and also set it up so that it is a secret getaway where you can call you special friends and enjoy that special beer.

A lot of people who have brewed their own home made beer can vouch for the fact that it is a lot of fun. It is something every red-blooded person who has a belly for beer and a taste for excitement should try in their spare time. You never know what can happen next, you could be the next greatest liquor baron bringing the best lager or pilsner to a liquor store near you.

Remember…! Home Microbrewery is fun and it can unleash the creativity that has been kept within you for a long time. Go to home microbrewery for tips, ideas, procedures and more….

When I was a kid, a quick weeknight meal often included canned pineapple rings, sliced tomatoes, and Shake ‘n Bake. It was as easy as pouring the seasoning mix in a bag, adding the chicken, shaking to coat, and then baking. What I loved about Shake ‘n Bake was that my mum always used chicken thighs and drumsticks for the meal, which was perfect for a dark meat junky like myself. As an adult, I always selflessly relinquish the juicy, meaty drumsticks to my two boys. Tired of my martyr status, I decided it was time to take the proverbial bull by the horns and make a drumstick-exclusive meal. This recipe is adapted from one I found in Fine Cooking Magazine.

In their recipe, whole chickens (and a larger amount of the mustard paste) are used. While I love having whole roasted chickens to pick from, using chicken pieces lends itself to an easy weeknight meal. The drumsticks are coated in a paste made of Dijon mustard, fresh thyme, and shallots. After letting the chicken rest, just pop it in the oven and – voila – tasty, succulent chicken with minimal effort.

The first step is to combine Dijon mustard, minced shallots, minced garlic, chopped fresh thyme, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. This paste is liberally rubbed over the eight chicken drumsticks, which are then covered, refrigerated, and left to rest for 1-2 hours.

The chicken is roasted for 20 minutes. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and drizzle an additional 1 tablespoon olive oil over the drumsticks. The oven heat is turned down to 350 degrees F and the chicken is roasted for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the outside of the chicken is deep golden brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should be 170 to 175 degrees F when a thermometer is inserted into the thickest part of one of the drumsticks and the juices run clear. After letting the chicken rest for about 10 minutes, the succulent, golden brown drumsticks are ready to eat.

This is an easy and economical meal that your whole family will appreciate.

Are you looking for the best foods that can really boost your metabolism? You would be surprised to find out that a large number of people are anxious over two health related concerns that influence their lives a lot, weight loss and dieting. This is the reason why they often go online looking for the best ways in which they can miraculously lose weight without too much effort. If you happen to be a health conscious person who is worried about their weight and looks, your main priority should be to look for a healthy diet.

So, once you know how your metabolism works and how it provides for your good health, you are definitely going to throw away all those pills, potions, lotions and other products promising you an extremely effective weight loss. Metabolism is the chemical and bio physiological function of your body which keeps it functioning normally and efficiently.

The foods that you eat are converted into energy, which is used up while you are doing your daily activities. This energy is also assimilated in your muscles and your organs so that the body functions normally. Metabolism is also known as the mechanism through which the calories are burnt. This is exactly what you are going to do when you exercise for a long period of time. Working out is going to boost your metabolism.

So what are the foods which are going to boost up your metabolism? Start with water. It going to keep your body well hydrated. Plus, it is also going to cleanse your body from all the extra waste products and toxins in it. The vegetables as well as the fresh fruit are going to boost your metabolism really well. People, who have a sweet tooth or are addicted to junk food, would definitely not like this idea.

The sugary and fatty foods decrease the effectiveness of your metabolism since their energy content is extremely high. On the other hand, the vegetables as well as the fruit are low in calories. They are also rich in fiber and in all the essential nutrients necessary to keep your metabolism running at a fast pace. Furthermore, fiber aids in proper digestion, which makes these foods even more beneficial for your health. You might also want to try Omega 3 rich fish like salmon, trout, mackerel and tuna. These particular fatty acids also tend to boost your metabolism really well.

In Germany there is a beer ice cream in popsicle form. Its alcohol content is lower than that of classic beer.

The Code of Hammurabi of ancient Babylonia (c. 1750 B.C.) declared that a tradesman could be put to death for diluting beer.

In Medieval Europe, brewing and baking went together. Thus women were the first European brewers and were often called ale wives.

1810: Munich establishes Oktoberfest as an official celebration.

King Frederick the Great once banned coffee to bolster sagging beer sales.

In Babylon over 4000 years ago, it was customary for the bride’s father to supply his new son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. As mead is a honey beer and their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the ‘honey month’ – or what we know today as the ‘honeymoon’. In fact, Babylonians believed if the groom drank mead for an entire month, it enhanced the chances of his wife bearing a male heir.

In Bavaria, beer is legally defined as a staple food.

After consuming buckets of aul (or ale), the Vikings would head fearlessly into battle, often without armour or even shirts. In fact, “berserk” means “bare shirt” in Norse, and eventually took on the meaning of their wild battles.

The first US lager was brewed in 1840 by John Wagner, who had a small brewery in the back of his house on St. John Street in Philadelphia. Wagner brought the first lager yeast to the United States from a brewery in Bavaria.

Historians report that during the Middle Ages, when monks were brewing their beer in their monasteries, each monk was allowed to drink 5 quarts of beer a day.

Legend has it that Gambrinus, god of beer, challenged the devil to produce a “wine without grapes.” The historical origin of the concoction we know today can be found in 12th-century Belgium, although the Egyptians had already created fermented-grain beverages well before then.

The pursuit of beer changed the course of humanity forever in 5000 BC. Neolithic people abandoned their wandering lives for farming, to grow grain for brewing beer.

In 1116 BC, Chinese imperial edict stated that heaven required people to drink beer.

The Egyptian pyramids were built on beer. Stonecutters, slaves and public officials were paid in a type of beer called ‘kash’ – which is where the word ‘cash’ originated.

In English pubs, unruly customers were told to mind their own pints and quarts and settle down – and so began the phrase “mind your P’s and Q’s”. (Another explanation is customers were being warned about the potency of the beer. At ‘freehouses’ where people could make and sell their own beer, there was less control on the alcohol content.)

The familiar Scandinavian toast sköl derives from scole, the drinking bowl shaped like the upper half of a human skull. Originally, these bowls were fashioned from the actual skulls of enemy killed in battle.

Before thermometers were invented, brewers would dip a thumb into the mix to find the right temperature for adding yeast. Too cold and the yeast wouldn’t grow; too hot and the yeast would die. This ancient practice is where we get the phrase ‘rule of thumb’.

Saint Arnold, a bishop born in 580, is considered the patron saint of beer. He encouraged people to drink beer instead of water during the Plague. Indeed, the Plague suddenly disappeared once his word spread (though some suggest because beer was boiled in the brewing process, it would have been safer than water, which had previously spread the infection.) When Saint Arnold died in 640, the citizens of his hometown carried his body from Remiremont to Metz for reburial in their church. On this journey, another miracle occurred – when the weary porters stopped to share their only mug of beer, they discovered the mug never ran dry.

The most expensive beer in the world? It’s called “Tutankhamen” and is prepared according to the recipe recovered by a group of University of Cambridge archaeologists in Queen Nefertiti’s Temple of the Sun in Egypt.

It costs US $52 a bottle, and is produced in limited and numbered edition.

Do I Need a Wedding Cake Consultation?

Choosing a Wedding Cake can be one of the most exciting (and daunting) tasks facing a couple when planning their special day. Some couples have a clear idea as to what they want and are just after someone to to talk things through and confirm that there is not a more appropriate alternative that they might have overlooked, whereas other couples find the multitude of styles, sizes, flavours and options overwhelming and are looking for help and guidance through the decision process. The experience can be made a lot smoother and easier by enlisting the aid and wealth of knowledge possessed by an experienced Wedding Cake Maker.

Wedding Cake Consultations are usually made:

In person,

Over the phone,

Via email,

Or a combination of the above.

Preparing for a Wedding Cake Consultation

Although not essential it will make the consultation process easier if you are able to do some preparation beforehand and give thought to the following:

What decoration do I want? A cakes decoration is an important way of making the cake personal to you, thought often needs to be given to try and integrate a wedding’s particular colour scheme so it is useful if you are able to provide the cake maker with a sample of the colour scheme that they will be able to keep.

What style cake do I want? Traditional, Contemporary, Tiered Cakes, Stacker Cakes, Cupcake Wedding Cakes, Chocolate cakes, mini cakes (where each guest has their own cake). Often the easiest way to decide is to look through examples in Wedding Magazines and in galleries on Wedding Cake Maker’s websites. If you have found some photos that appeal to you then take copies along to your consultation or else email a copy

How many guests do I have? In order to establish the physical size of the cake(s) it is necessary to know how many people it is going to be served to and whether the cake is going to be served as a finger (either by itself or with a cup of coffee) or as the dessert (in which case a larger slice would be required).

Do I want to keep the Top Tier? If you want to keep one of the tiers for a subsequent party or Christening then this will need to be taken into consideration as it means that an additional cake will need to be made.

Do you want the cake to be delivered? If so then is the venue within commutable distance of your chosen cake maker?

Flavour: Do you want a fruit cake, sponge cake (plain or flavoured), chocolate cake or cake with fresh fruit or berries? Some Wedding Cake Makers will offer to make your cake with a range of flavours (each tier could be a different flavour or individual cupcakes cakes could be made as different flavours) or in a custom flavour (anything that you or they can imagine).

Date of the Wedding: Obviously the Cake Maker will need to check their availability. Cake Makers can only produce a certain number of cakes in a week and popular times of the year such as August (especially weekends) often get booked up early in the year.

Budget: Have a clear idea in your own mind as to what your budget is and whether there is a degree of flexibility. Often it is possible to discuss with your cake maker ways of making a wedding cake cheaper

…and above all else, do not forget to:

Discuss all the above with your fiancee. Your wedding day is a special day for the two of you as a couple but its planning can be a stressful process, one way to eliminate a source of stress is to ensure that both you and your fiancee have the same expectations as to what is important in a wedding cake (be it a particular style, flavour or budget).

How Much Will My Wedding Cake Cost?

The most often asked question during a consultation is “how much will my wedding cake cost?”, however in order to provide an accurate quote many of the above questions will need to be answered. So the more information that you are able to provide the more accurate the Cake Makers quote will be.

Not only will a healthy diet keep you fit and well it will also help prevent future health problems such as cancer and heart diseases developing. Of course a healthy diet is only part of the picture. You also need to adopt a healthy lifestyle by stopping smoking and reducing alcohol consumption. It is also important that you adopt some form of exercise program even if it is something as simple as three or four short walks a week.

However, unless you have a healthy diet you will never fully benefit from any other steps that you take to improve your health and fitness. So here are some tips on how to improve your diet:

1. Cut down on your meat consumption. Whilst meat is high in protein it can also contains a high level of fat. When you eat meat you should look for as lean a cut as possible. Venison is a very lean meat whilst lamb tends to have a higher fat content. Less meat and more fresh vegetables is an easy change you can make to your diet.

2. Five a day. It seems that the experts all agree that a 5 a day fruit and vegetable plan is the correct way forward. Basically we should all ensure that we eat five portions of fruit or vegetable a day. This can include frozen vegetable but fresh is still the best option. If you prefer just one of the portions could be in the form of fresh fruit juice.

3. Minimal Cooking. Fresh food is full of vitamins and minerals but the easy way to destroy these is to overcook the food.

4. Eat more chicken and fish. To make up for cutting down on red meat you should eat more chicken (minus the skin) and fish particularly oily varieties. These days some fish such as cod, salmon and tuna can be expensive but many cheaper fish are available from supermarkets. Even fish such as sardines are very good for you but you should avoid the tinned varieties packed in oil or tomato source.

5. Add Fibre. It is important that you have enough fibre in your diet and this can be found in some breakfast cereals, fruit and vegetables and wholemeal bread.

These are simple changes to the diet that we can all make to our diets. None of the changes are expensive or difficult but they can make an enormous difference to our health and well being.

For couples on an overall wedding budget attempting to find methods to save may require discount wedding favors to put on the tables at the reception. People should try to remember not to confuse inexpensive with cheap as the significance of a number objects may not be especially linked to its cost. There are numerous cheap wholesale wedding favors that you can buy that seem far better than the cost might indicate, but low value wedding favors will by and large indicate the sum of money expended.

One thing to realize is that wedding favors are typically provided as a thank you to weddding guests and the get together following the service. Though the overall wedding budget may determine the requirement for reducing spending, distributing inexpensive wedding favors that look as if they cost much more than they did, will likely make a better impact on the attendees.
A number of cheap wholesale wedding favors are able to be designed from nominal materials, and can give the visual appearance of costing a lot more. As an example, a small goblet with a decorative ribbon tied around it, containing candy 1s going to be more readily accepted than a bag of nuts in a little nondescript container.

A compact picture frame used as placeholders, or unique style of name plates on the tables have the ability to make wonderful inexpensive wedding favors. All the guests could take them home and switch the card with a favorite picture of their own choosing as a keepsake of your special day. Sometimes these types of frames can be located for fifty cents each, or even less depending on the quantity asked for. Inexpensive or not, these favors will not look cheap and nasty. Name cards may be purchased through many sources, or printed on your home computer if money is a specific concern.

Candles could even serve as cheap wedding favors with the candles chosen in the same color theme of the wedding. Candles can be something guests of all ages will most likely take home and use, if they wish. The candles can also be replaced when they burn down.

Alternative impressive ideas for wedding favors could possibly include themed wedding favors along the lines of beach, fall, winter, spring and fall as well as tropical wedding favors. With all the different themes for weddings, the wedding favors you decide upon are limited only by your imagination, and you will surely find some that you will be happy to present to your wedding guests.

Sugared almonds in a small container are traditional to weddings. Another idea is dainty flower vases with a few flowers in it that serve a double purpose of decorating the table during the reception. You can find so many ideas for wedding favors by looking online .

You can find plenty of ideas for wedding favors that you could choose from . There are soap favors, glass and crystal wedding favors and so many more discount wedding favors.
