It’s a life of imperfection….

"When I was a little girl, my mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage, and extremely burned toast in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed ! Yet all my dad did was reach for his toast, smile at my mom, and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember Watching him smear butter and jelly on that toast and eat every bite!

When I got Up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my mom apologize to my dad For burning the toast. And I'll never forget what he said: 'Baby, I love burned toast.' Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his toast burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, 'Debbie, your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides-a little burnt toast never hurt anyone!' You know, life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect people. I'm not the best housekeeper or cook. What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each other's faults - and choosing to celebrate each other's differences - is the one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship. And that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of GOD.

Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where burnt toast isn't a deal-breaker! We could extend this to any relationship in fact - as understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship – professional or personal relationships!! "

they are probably from China since they are purchased in bulk

very very cheap !!!!

BEIJING (AFP) - Used condoms are being recycled into

hair bands in southern China threatening to spread

sexually-transmitta ble diseases they were originally

meant to prevent, state media reported Tuesday

In the la test example of potentially harmful Chinese-made

products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets

and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in

southern Guangdong province, China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colorful rubber bands and hair ties sell well .....

threatening the health of local people,' it said..

Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain

bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other

diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths

while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a

local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying.

A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 sen (three cents),

much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity,

the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms

was illegal.. China 's manufacturing industry has been

repeatedly tarnished this year by a string of scandals

involving shoddy or dangerous goods made for both

domestic and foreign markets.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer

aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems.

This is very true as I heard it in news from one of our local radios

here that our govt has to be extra careful on these cheap imports

from china. These includes clothes, food, toys, slippers and even

glasses because the Chinese are using some strong but cheap

chemical in their manufactures. Cheap is becoming expensive

and at the same time fatal. I nearly bought one pair of the slippers

below for myself last week at the Japanese $2 shop at IMM last week.

These slippers are also sold in Walmart, USA and same complaints received.

The Purpose of Appendix

Researchers at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, United States believe that they have found the purpose of the vermiform appendix, long thought to be useless.

The theory, published in the Journal of Theoretical Biology, is that the appendix creates and protects helpful microorganisms for a person’s digestive system.

For years, scientists believed that the appendix served no purpose, and wondered why it was even present in the human body. Surgeons removed them regularly, and it seemed to have no ill effects on the health of patients.

In addition, when infected the appendix became harmful and even deadly. Inflammation occurs quickly and can cause death if the infected organ is not removed in time. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2005 321,000 Americans were stricken with appendicitis. On average, 300 to 400 Americans die of appendicitis each year.

The new theory, proposed by surgeons and immunologists at the Duke University School of Medicine, says that people throughout most of human history lived in small, spread out groups. As a result, their contact with other people was far more limited than it is today in modern industrialized societies. Today, if a person’s digestive tract lacks helpful bacteria, they can regain the needed germs from contact with large numbers of other people. In times when populations were less dense, and cholera epidemics purged large numbers of people’s useful digestive bacteria, the appendix was able to restore the digestive system’s supply of helpful germs.

"[The appendix] acts as a good safe house for bacteria," said Duke surgery professor Bill Parker, a co-author in the study. He said the appendix’s location–below the one-way passage of food and germs through the large intestine in a digestive cul-de-sac helps validate the theory. The worm-shaped appendage also acts to manufacture these helpful germs, Parker said.

Parker added that in less developed societies with lower population densities, the appendix may still be useful and rates of appendicitis are lower. However, regardless of the appendix’s apparent function, Parker confirmed that those suffering from appendicitis should still have it removed.

Scientists not affiliated with the study have come out in favor of the theory. Brandeis University biochemistry professor Douglas Theobald said the idea was the most likely purpose of the appendix. "It makes evolutionary sense."

I began painting feathers back in 1990, purely as a means of putting to use all the broad sturdy wing feathers that my mother's peacocks would shed. I had never seen this done before, but knowing the bonding properties of acrylic paint, I thought it was a feasible experiment. I began with simple subject matters like pictographs and still-life’s, but soon that grew to a very broad range of subject matter.

The feather paintings also feature in a video clip of folk singer Gordon Lightfoot's song "Cherokee Bend".

The most colorful river in the World

The river that ran away to paradise - During a brief span between wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, the many varieties of algae and moss bloom in a dazzling display of colors. Without any roads leading to this river, it must be accessed by horse.

The information in the message is factual and the photographs are genuine. The river shown in the photographs is the Caño Cristales, which is located near the town of La Macarena in Colombia, South America. The river, world famous for its colourful display, has been called "the river that ran away to paradise", "the most beautiful river in the world" and "the river of five colours". Information about the river published on the Atlas Obscura website notes:

During Colombia's wet season, the water flows fast and deep, obscuring the bottom of the river and denying the mosses and algae that call the river home the sun that they need. And during the dry season there is not enough water to support the dazzling array of life in the river. But during a brief span between the wet and dry seasons, when the water level is just right, the many varieties of algae and moss bloom in a dazzling display of colors. Blotches of amarillo, blue, green, black, and red - and a thousand shades in between - coat the river.

As noted in the message, the part of the river where the colourful blooms occur is quite isolated and is not accessible by road. Adventurous tourists can now fly into La Macarena and then make their way to to the river site on foot as part of guided tours. The site was effectively closed to tourists for several years because of FARC guerrilla activity in the region along with concerns about the impact of unregulated tourist traffic. The Caño Cristales site, located about two hours walk from the town of La Macarena, will be open to visitors until November 10, when the summer season dries out the algae and the river loses it magnificent colours.

So far, some 1,000 people have visited Caño Cristales, including around 100 foreign tourists.

According to new regulations visits to the site are made up of groups of up to 20 people, taken throughout the day by four guides. The tours will follow four clearly marked and authorized paths and one is no longer permitted to stay overnight or cook, as this was ruining the area previously.

Even so, reports indicate that some intrepid visitors still made it to the river during the years it was officially closed to tourists.

A 3.2 x 2.1 meter (10 x 7 ft) work of Astro Boy pixel art made from 138,000 recycled Tokyo Metro tickets is on temporary display at the Shinjuku Takashimaya Department Store (2nd floor) to mark the opening of Tokyo’s new Fukutoshin subway line. Created by volunteers from Takashimaya and other Shinjuku-area businesses, the work depicts Astro Boy, Uran, Professor Ochanomizu and Higeoyaji (Mr. Mustachio) in Shinjuku along with the new Fukutoshin train.

The Big Picture Photo Mosaic

The Big Picture is a project to create the biggest photo album in the West Midlands where the people there submitted over 110,000 photos. The photos are then used to create a huge record breaking photo mosaic the size of three tennis courts which was unveiled at Birmingham’s Thinktank at Millenium Point on 23rd August 2008. British artist Helen Marshall is the creative mind behind the project where she worked with photo mosaic specialists PollyTiles to realize the enormous image. 2 more pics of ‘The Big Picture’ photo mosaic after the jump.

A Heart Touching real life story...

I was walking around in a Big Bazaar store making shopping, when I saw
a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years
old.

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy
this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are
you sure I don't have enough money?''

I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough
money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the
doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give
this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so
much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY.

I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my
sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this.
'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to
see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with
her to give it to my sister..''

My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I
told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I
come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him
where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my
picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I
wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go
to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with
sad eyes, very quietly..

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check
again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to
his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough
for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to
sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so
that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted
to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't
dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll
and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.'

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I
started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I
remembered a local

news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a
truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The
little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical
state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the
life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to
recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news
paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as
I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where
the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make
last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a
beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and
the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling
that my life had been changed for ever...

The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is
still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a
drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE. Be it a car, Auto, Bike or any vehicle for that matter.

For those who prefer to think that God is not watching over us.... go ahead and delete this. For the rest of us..... Pass this on.

M-O-T-H-E-R - A living Angel...

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn't enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she would say "Eat this rice, son! I'm not hungry." This was Mother's First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit more nutritious food for my growth. Once she had caught just two fish, she would make fish soup. While I was eating the soup, mother would sit beside me and eat what was still left on the bone of the fish I had eaten; My heart was touched when I saw it. Once I gave the other fish to her on my chopstick but she immediately refused it and said, "Eat this fish, son! I don't really like fish." This was Mother's Second Lie.

Then, in order to fund my education, Mother went to a Match Factory to bring home some used matchboxes which she filled with fresh matchsticks. . This helped her get some money to cover our needs. One wintry night I awoke to find Mother filling the matchboxes by candlelight. So I said, "Mother, go to sleep; it's late: you can continue working tomorrow morning." Mother smiled and said "Go to sleep, son! I'm not tired." This was Mother's Third Lie.

When I had to sit my Final Examination, Mother accompanied me.. After dawn, Mother waited for me for hours in the heat of the sun. When the bell rang, I ran to meet her.. Mother embraced me and poured me a glass of tea that she had prepared in a thermos. The tea was not as strong as my Mother's love, Seeing Mother covered with perspiration; I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too. Mother said "Drink, son! I'm not thirsty!". This was Mother's Fourth Lie.

After Father's death, Mother had to play the role of a single parent. She held on to her former job; she had to fund our needs alone. Our family's life was more complicated. We suffered from starvation. Seeing our family's condition worsening, my kind Uncle who lived near my house came to help us solve our problems big and small. Our other neighbors’ saw that we were poverty stricken so they often advised my mother to marry again. But Mother refused to remarry saying "I don't need love.." This was Mother's Fifth Lie.

After I had finished my studies and got a job, it was time for my old Mother to retire but she carried on going to the market every morning just to sell a few vegetables. I kept sending her money but she was steadfast and even sent the money back to me. She said, "I have enough money." That was Mother's Sixth Lie.

I continued my part-time studies for my Master's Degree. Funded by the American Corporation for which I worked, I succeeded in my studies. With a big jump in my salary, I decided to bring Mother to enjoy life in America but Mother didn't want to bother her son; she said to me "I'm not used to high living." That was Mother's Seventh Lie.

In her dotage, Mother was attacked by cancer and had to be hospitalized. Now living far across the ocean, I went home to visit Mother who was bedridden after an operation. Mother tried to smile but I was heartbroken because she was so thin and feeble but Mother said, "Don't cry, son! I'm not in pain." That was Mother's Eighth Lie.
Telling me this, her eighth lie, she died. YES, MOTHER WAS AN ANGEL!

"M" is for the Million things she gave me,
"O" means Only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the Tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her Heart of gold,
"E" is for her Eyes with love-light shining in them,
R" means Right, and right she'll always be,

Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER" a word that means the world to me. For those of you who are lucky to be still blessed with your Mom's presence on Earth, this story is beautiful. For those who aren't so blessed, this is even more beautiful. Let’s not analyze what this son did was correct or not but lets try not to end up this way….

Better late than never, realize what our parents have done for us. Stop counting on the money that we would spend for them rather count on the wishes we are blessed with by their presence. It will be the absolute pleasure to have them beside us when they are aged and become infant like for us to be blessed with a chance to serve them again like what they have been to us…

As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it." This man is truly a genius!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".
All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

Chilling ruthless winter of Pilani. 2 degree centigrade.

I'm with my friends. Good friends - A,B at Connaught place inside the campus.

I: Friends, I want to go ahead. Please don't stop me.

A: No you can't. Are you insane?
B: C'mon man, just stop it. Don't be mad. (And then the same question - ) Are you insane?

I: No, I'm not, but I just can't stop myself.

A: What's wrong with you? Why can't you behave like you know.... normal?
B: Yea... this guy is gone nuts. Dude, don't be stupid for heaven’s sake.

I: I'm not being stupid. It's as simple as I want something very badly and I want to get it. If not, I don't know what will happen to me. I can't resist myself.

A: But dude, look around. There are people. What will they think of you? This is just not done.

I: I can't resist the temptation. I'm too tempted.

B: Oh boy, I never thought you had such intentions tonight. If I had known this before, I would have never come with you. What a shame for me !! I want to save my face. I just want to get back to my room.

I walked towards the end of the road, a 100 m walk. It sent shivers down my spine. At the same time, there was this feeling of excitement of being the first one to actually DO it.

Chocolate I said and gave him 10 Rs.

The secret of the hitch-hiker !!

A man and his brother were driving from Chattanooga to
Atlanta for the weekend to see their mother. On the
way down, they saw a man on the side of the road
trying to catch a ride. The hitchhiker looked okay,
he had on a nice black suit and a brown briefcase in
his hand. So, the two men picked him up. On the way,
the man kept fumbling around in his briefcase for
something. The two brothers were beginning to become
afraid there was something horrible in the briefcase,
so the older brother said, " What's in the briefcase."
"None of your business," the man replied.
They continued on down the road. By now, the two brothers
were really scared The younger brother was on the
verge of a nervous breakdown. "What's in the briefcase?"
the younger one asked again nervously.
"None of your business," he replied a little louder.
After a while the older brother pulled over into a gas
station parking lot and the two brothers got out.
" What do you think we should do?" one of them asked.
"Tell him to go to the bathroom because it's going to
be a long ride," the other replied. So, they went back
and told the man to go the bathroom. And he went. When
he returned he found that the two brothers had driven
away and left him behind. The brothers grabbed the
briefcase and snapped it open, and you know what
was in it?

Samsung's LED LCD televisions are here and the flagship C9000 is a doozy. It's the only one they're calling "ultra thin", has 3D support in late 2010 and a touch remote that shows you content from other video sources!

The thinness (it's as skinny as a pencil) is achieved by shoving lots of guts into the pedestal, which doubles as a wall mount. The set can convert 2D content into 3D, although I'm sure of dubious quality. The remote looks rather Apple-ish in UI, but it can show you, as I said before, content from other sources, like live TV while watching a Blu-ray on the big screen. It has 240Hz tech, which we've never noticed as important in image quality, but it's there (needed for 3D). No word on sizes or prices, yet. There's Samsung app support, but platforms like these are never really well supported. The frame is very shiny.

The rest:

8000 Series: Not as thin as the C9000, it uses edge lit technology and has what Samsung claims is the advantage of backlighting with localized dimming. 240Hz. No prices or sizes. 3D, and treatment to upconvert 2D to 3D. Samsung apps.

7000 Series: No edgelit with localized dimming advantages as in the 8000. 240Hz. No prices or sizes. 3D, and treatment to upconvert 2D to 3D. Samsung apps. "Touch of Color" translucent frame from last year, with a new 4 legged stand.

6500 Series: 120Hz, "touch of color" finish. DLNA streaming capabilities. Apps. No 3D. No prices or sizes. Coming the first half of 2010, unlike the above which are coming in "2010".
5000 Series: Focus on low power usage, including a low power monitor. DLNA, and USB port media playback.
