Sinclair Storm	Shoes on a wire
We arrived on Sinclair island in this storm, thankful to have a warm cabin to take shelter in. No other boats were seen on the water that day and we only ran into one other person all weekend. It was awesome!	I have a thing for shoes hangn’ on wires. So, this was pretty much like striking gold for me. I waited for the perfect sunset (to literally turn the shoes gold) and dodged semi trucks to get this shot.
Goodbye Viaduct	Pier 54 Flock
On October 22 the public was allowed to walk along the Seattle Viaduct for the last time before it was demolished. It was pouring rain, but that didn’t stop thousands of visitors, including my Mom and I, from taking a stroll along the beloved roadway.	Between my two jobs, I spend a lot of time sitting – as I’m sure many of you do. I carry a camera with me always and it is the best motivation to get out and go for a walk. This day, I had my Holga and was feeling the need to connect with the ocean. Luckily, living in Seattle means it is only ever a few short blocks away.
Threat of a storm	Last blooms
I saw this Ghostbusters-like storm looming over Seattle and rushed to my fav spot to point my lens at the city, Don Armeni Park along Harbor Ave in West Seattle. The Puget Sound was surprisingly calm, unafraid of what was headed its way.	Found wandering around the Rose Garden at Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle on a drizzly, late Fall day. The last blooms of the season are just so beautiful against an increasingly barren almost-Winter landscape.

I photographed Violet last February when she was just 3 months old (see blog post). When her mom, Dana, scheduled another set of family photographs this Fall I could hardly wait to see what had happened with the fam over the past 9 months! Violet not only had grown several inches, but a cute tuft of red hair and two bottom teeth. She’s also starting to develop quite a sense of humor and adventure. Check out the shot of her behind the wheel at the end. Hilarious!

I can’t wait to see what happens in Season 3!

After doing some photographs of/with the oh-so-cute Kyra (it probably won’t come as a surprise, but this lil’ lady has done some modeling for Nordstroms), Tre let me drag her into the woods (how’s that for trust??) of West Seattle for some maternity portraits.

Always a bit wary of using flash, I experimented with it a little and absolutely loved the rich colors, moodiness and light-rimmed silhouettes produced. What a cool way to capture Tre’s beautiful profile!

We met at Don Armeni Park, where there was no less than 3 other wedding parties competing for the classic on-the-grass bride/groom shot with the city landscape in the background. We opted for a more private first look on the crushed shell beach by the boat dock – one of my fav spots to chill and daydream. 

Locking eyes, Jenn and Neal lit up the beach with their world class smiles and checked out each other’s duds. Then, after a stroll along the waterfront, we headed up to Hamilton View Park where they enjoyed a little quiet down-time and air-conditioning behind our car’s tinted windows.

Colorful floral pieces found their way onto lapels and wrists. Designed by Fleurt Floral Studio, each piece was unique and filled with seasonal snips. Heart-warming harp music welcomed guests to their seats. The officiant beamed as Jenn and Neal met eachother in front of him, exchanged roses (their first gift to each other), said their vows and were pronounced man and wife. Friends and family erupted into cheers as they walked back up the aisle hand-in hand.

After the ceremony, guests made the short journey across the West Seattle Bridge to The Georgetown Stables. As the sun set, it flooded the backyard with golden light. Guests enjoyed delicious d’oeuvres, beverages and games of ladders. Although the venue was filled with all sorts of cool decorations and magic mirrors, as far as kids were concerned, the only thing in the room was a table loaded with jars of candy and take-home bags.

Personally, I couldn’t take my eyes off the floral arrangments, each different from the other, and the delicious food being prepared in the kitchen. The spread by Two Tarts Cafe and Catering team was colorful, esquisie, comforting, and extremely delicious. Seriously, SO good. 

The evening winded down with a first dance that brought tears to a lot of eyes and more chill out time in the yard, which was glowing with lanterns and lights. Sigh. What a lovely day!

Not only did I leave my maternity shoot with Myrna (mom) and Mia (now big sis) feeling loved (Mia didn’t want me to go, she missed me already. Awwww), but walks were forever changed. They were no longer just walks, they were “walk-abouts” and much more fun.

A few weeks later, I returned with my camera for their newborn shoot and met the new lil’ man in the house, Finn. His Papa, Frits (an amazing photographer btw. See evidence here.) joined in on the photo fun this time around. Mia’s face lit up when she got to hold her new baby brother. Myrna chuckled lovingly as she sculpted Finn’s hair into different styles. Frits played the piano with one hand while holding Finn in the other as he slipped into sleep mode. This kid has it made.

Outside the reach of the WA state ferry system, hopping a charter is the only way to get to Sinclair. When we arrived in Anacordes, the Island Express (Island Express Charters) was ready to whisk us away. On board, a champagne toast kicked off the journey. We went winding through the islands and were delivered directly on the very beach where Duke first cruised by in his boat and wooed Kim.

Down a dirt road (shared by only a small handful of vehicles), Grace, Duke’s daughter, filled the clearing in the woods with cello music as guests found their seats in a random assortment of chairs from around the island. What followed was the most heart-felt, personalized ceremony I have ever been witness to. Well, I’ll let the images below tell the story. Be sure to take home the idea of post-its noting the reasons you love your partner and try to hold back from wanting to pupnap the fellow at the end. I dare you!
