Hi my name is Scott.

Although I am fairly new to working on the shop floor as a stylist, I am now the Redken Specialist for Heaven spa and one of the ‘La Brasiliana Technicians’.

In my spare time I love to take part in hair dressing competitions, last year I took part in one at my training school and won awards in several categories and I was delighted to be made overall winner too!! I received two gold medals and three trophy cups and because of this achievement, I was recently asked by my training school to represent them at the Cheshire championship 2009.

Our New Winter Warmer Facial Treatment

 Amy and I sat at work today trying to come up with a treatment that we would like to promote for the coming winter months.

We both agreed that everyone usually suffers from the same skin complaints around this time of year, the three D’s: dryness, dullness and dehydration.

Even though we have existing facials specifically for these skin concerns we wanted to create an extra  special treat for our guests. So we came up with the ultimate Winter Warmer Facial Treatment.

We will begin our new treatment by inviting our guest to lie down and relax in a dark treatment room lit by candlelight with burning winter essential oils. The treatment will commence with a foot cleansing ritual which will include a circulation boosting massage.

We will then wrap our guest in a cocoon of soft warming blankets and perform cocoon massage movements to thoroughly relax the guest and prepare them for the facial.

During the facial we will treat our guest to a hand exfoliation followed by a tension relieving massage with our anti aging hand cream.

We will then indulge our guest with an even longer massage of the face, neck and décolleté using lymphatic drainage and acupressure point techniques.

The Winter Facial Treatment will be completed by a holistic scalp massage followed by a hydrating mist of essential oils.

 We hope this will entice our guest to visit Heaven Spa and sample our new Winter Warmer Treatment!

On Sunday 18^th October I had the privilege of joining Ex Heaven Spa salon co-ordinator Caroline Bury and her family for her Wedding at the amazing Stoke Park Buckinghamshire, the setting for scenes from two James Bond movies also the present James Bond, Daniel Craig was shot dead in the final scene of the movie Layer cake.

Stoke Park made the perfect back drop for Caroline and Jarrett’s day.

Planning your wedding takes time and a lot of attention to detail.When it comes to hair styling, the style and cut of the garments worn should work well with the hair styles chosen. Caroline, her Sister Charlotte and Mum Jean and I worked together from hair colour to styling to make sure each detail worked with the evening dress and classic Hollywood theme of their wedding.

Growing up in the seventies, watching my mother and her friends in a constant “battle with the bulge” otherwise known as “her spare tyre”!!!! is a lasting memory of my childhood.  The only weapons these ladies had at their disposal was a hideous (in my opinion) drink called PLJ, which had to be drunk through a straw, and Slimcea bread, neither being very pleasant or effective.

In the new millennium, our desire for the perfect body may still be as strong as ever and we now have muffin top instead of middle aged spread, but fortunately the ways in which we deal with our human imperfections are much more sophisticated.

Most of us are gym members, some of us even go there occasionally, we are educated in healthy eating and drinking in moderation (I must have missed that class) and of course we have some fabulous creams lotions and potions to add to our list of little helpers.

Having just read about Scalas newest addition to their anti-cellulite range of underwear, I was intrigued. Their original cellulite busting knickers were all a bit “Bridget Jones” and while Hugh Grants, Daniel Cleaver character may have found those up to the armpit style panties fascinating, I highly doubt The Boyfriend would be of the same opinion.

The newest item in the range though is a perfectly ordinary looking pair of leggings, available at  John Lewis stores, if you can find them in stock that is!!

Having struggled to located said items, I had a mini brainwave, a rare occurrence these days!

I purchased a fabulous Pevonia product called Pevonia Smooth and Tone Body-Svelt Gel and applied this every morning before slipping into my own leggings or opaque tights, perfect now that the weather warrants the wearing of these comfy cover-ups. The results after 2 weeks? Well, Elle “the bod” McPherson I may not be but the difference in skin tone is definitely noticeable. My poor neglected thighs are visibly smoother with a more toned appearance, Result!! My aim now is to continue this regime through the winter months, with the occasional green coffee wrap thrown in and by holiday season next year I should be ready to hit the beach without fear of being hauled back into the sea by a well meaning member of Greenpeace.
