Just a short note today, was thinking as I was shopping around the stores if I could remember last years Christmas gifts.. short answer “Not Really”. But I remember every show that I’ve gone to over the past few years, and the nice dinners, and all the vacations and such.. truthfully, I remember the experiences more so than the gifts.

So this year, I’m going to try to provide more ‘experiences’ with my gift-giving moreso than just material objects.. so I better do some motorhome repair on the ole RV, as we're going camping this summer with the hounds and all!!

Merry Christmas!! ha ha ha.

I do enjoy the odd infographic which usually displays some astonishing numbers and statistics on any given subject, and when I read the one from FrugalDad.com (one of my favorite reads), I just had to share.

It sort of makes me think that this year, I should NOT buy gifts for my hounds, and in lieu of that, make a donation to the local shelters instead. I mean, people going out and buying diamond eternity bands and other things for their pets is pretty ridiculous when a fraction of that cost could save thousands of animals.

What Are Your Favorite Pet Gifts?

Well obviously we’re dead in the middle of the Christmas season, and I’m heading out tonight to do some shopping for not only only my family – but also my beloved pets. Truthfully they were there for me every single night I’m home and I love them more than words can say.

What are some of your favorite gifts for your pets? My hounds are particularly fond of stuffingless toys and the marrow bones, but honestly – I think this year not only am I going to spoil my hounds, but I’m also going to make sure that the older toys that mine have become bored with, and treats they don’t like – all get used by the adoptable animals in shelters like Heavenly Creatures.

While we’re home enjoying our families and eating great food (a little too much sometimes), remember that there’s a lot of homeless animals that are in cold steel buildings all over our great country just wishing they had the same thing.

Donate, donate, donate.. don’t ever think that your paltry few bucks won’t help.. it does! And you’ll feel great.. I guarantee it

Favorite Time of Year!

You better believe that I’m soaking in the season as we speak. It’s getting to the end of Fall, my favorite season of the year. Why? Well.. let me just tell you! When walking the dogs – I can smell all the great scents of the season. The leaves, the crisp air, the wood burning stoves.. man, makes me want to go for a walk just thinking about it.

Unfortunately, this is also the time of year that I stop giving the dogs a bath. It doesn’t matter to me that I use some of the best african black soap I can find, the fact is that I don't want my dogs to get sick or a cold (yes.. I know they have a fur coat).. but I am always paranoid that I'm going to make them sick if I bath them and they're not full dry when I let them out.

What is your favorite time of year? What do you like to do most with your pets?

You Dressing Your Pets Up?

Seeing that over here we get anywhere from 130 to 180 kids every Halloween, it’s pretty hard not to be in the mood to dress up and enjoy the fun. But is it wrong to dress up your pets? Some people may think so – but I think it’s pretty harmless, especially for one night of the year (don’t get me started on the whole craze of coloring your animals fur craze going on).

Anyhow, what kind of costumes are you going to use? No chance? Tell me why? (I know a friend of mine decided to put on some plus size lingerie on their Mastiff.. yeah.. that was interesting).

What Are The Best Flowers To Attract Birds?

I don’t honestly think I’ve ever posted about birds. They are very common pets and very low-maintenance and generally quite nice to have around – but for whatever reason (read: I’m a dog lover), I don’t get much information on them for that reason.

I wanted to blog about birds though today, but not so much about birds being indoor pets – but what are the best flowers and floral arrangements to attract said birds.

Now is the time of year that you should be planting for next year.. so why not, if you’re into it – plant some bird-attracting flowers?

While browsing this topic I came across birdwatching.com and they posted the following tips:

Landscaping for birds begins with trees and bushes. But the right flowers attract birds also
Leave those seeds for the birds from daisies.
Zinnias are great for not only the seeds for birds – but also attract butterflies.
Red flowers attract hummingbirds (try old-fashioned fuchsias, coral bells, bee balm (shown at right), hybiscus, and petunias.)
Birds <3 Sunflowers :p)

Have some fun with it – I’d love to hear your tips on the subject.

New Contest On My Photography Page (Help Out PEI)

Hey all, well I figured since I’m over here in PEI helping out the fine folks at Heavenly Creatures in NFLD, I may as well try to promote or help the PEI Humane Society from over there as well, best part is that you don’t have to do anything

Right now, my photography page is holding a "Likes for Pet Love" contest in which if you ‘like’ my page, from now until October 1st.. I will donate a can of cat food to the PEIHS.

First day is going pretty well, I started at 1024 and I’m now at 1079 which is fantastic! But you can also make a difference over there by liking my photography page..
