Photography Session / the making of

noreply@blogger.com (Helen) — Thu, 27 Oct 2011 23:20:00 +0000

This was for my "Colour (as a formal element" project. The colour I chose was WHITE, and the word Warmth. In this project we had to choose a object that we can work with the colour and our word in the photo shoot, that could be outdoors or in the studio. To be able to make the colour white(that is the opposite of warm) and give us a warmth feeling I chose to make a model as my object. Not one model, but five! I think that a room, if it is well set up can make White look warm, and I wanted also to play a bit with illusion so that the viewer tries to understand the proportion of the room.

Final Print

noreply@blogger.com (Helen) — Tue, 18 Oct 2011 18:27:00 +0000

This was my first experience with print making, that was very enjoyable!
I am going to use the final piece as my secund book cover for "The Handmaid's Tale" novel. When I finish the cover I will be posting it on the blog. And by tomorrow I'll change this image with one that is a little more clear, as you can see this one came out a bit blurred.

The Printing Process

noreply@blogger.com (Helen) — Tue, 18 Oct 2011 18:04:00 +0000

First print of the "positive space"

My printing plate, made on the morning of the same day of the actual print.

This drawing wasn't actually made for my the print, it was just a sketch for my book cover. And then I thought that by joining it with the print it could make a interesting effect.

Book Cover

noreply@blogger.com (Helen) — Sun, 09 Oct 2011 17:29:00 +0000

University Project
- Create a new cover for a existing book, the one I got is a work of science fiction "The Handmaid's Tale (1983)" by Margaret Atwood, Canadian author. Later on in 1990 "The Handmaid's Tale" was turned into a film, directed by Volker Schlöndorff and the main actress Natasha Richardson as Offred.

The model of my front cover photo is a great friend of mine Matilde.
I decided to turn the picture upside down, based on Offred who's life was turn around without her having any choice.
