Scorpion announce that the HK-4530-540KV Limited Edition brushless motor is available for back order again. The popular 700-size 12S heli motor produced up to 20 percent more torque than a standard 4530 motor with an efficiency of more than 89 percent. Able to continuously pull more than 4400 watts the 540kv motor sports an outside diameter of 56.7mm with a length of 60.6mm and a weight of 565g.

Futaba have released the software version 5.0 for the 8FG and 8FG Super transmitter. The software will turn the standard 8FG into a 8FG Super with the latter also benefiting from the updated varian. Hyperion have released special wires for Horizon Hobby UMX plane users. The Serialisation cable combines two 1S UM packs into one 2S UMX battery assembly so there is no need to upgrade to 2S batteries in case you already own numerous Ultra Micro compatible packs. Also available is a UMS 2S pack-side cable with 150mm long wires to convert any suitable 2S battery to fit the UMX planes. Last but not least Hyperion also offers sS UMX standard charging harnesses and also types for Hyperion EOS 6S-per-port and 7S-per-port chargers.

Litronics2000 report that SAB recently announced two new Goblin helicopter kits in the form of the 770 and 630. The machines make use of slightly longer (770) or shorter (630) main blades and also differ in terms of some main rotor components as well as the tail assembly.

SAB have released a safety advise for their 700-size Goblin helicopter kit. SAB states that for heavy duty usage such as 3D flights the rotor head dampers have to be further preloaded using extra shims in order to increase head rigidity. See the full statement after the break.

“Attention Goblin Owners!

We recently had a customer crash due to a boom strike, the crash was caused by insufficient preload of the dampers in the head and the main blades not being tightened on the blade grips! Please remember that for 3D flight, it is very important to insert the two extra shims (HC-232-S) on the head (this is stated in the manual).
These shims increase the damper preload therefore increasing head rigidity.
The heads of all newer kits will have been already assembled and preloaded with the two shims.
Please make sure your main blades are tight on the grips, you should be able to violently jerk the head in both directions and the blades should not fold.

Failure to tighten the blades properly and/or run incorrect dampening preload can result in a boom strike.

Century have released a video of Garett Oku piloting the N640 nitro helicopter using Rotortech 640mm main and 92mm tail blades as well as an O.S. 55 engine with Century Silent Power 50 muffler. Adding to the whole assembly is a Microbeast flybarless system.
