Hellas crews will replace the field at M. M. Roberts Stadium with its proprietary Matrix® Turf system.

Hattiesburg, MS (May 17, 2013) – Nationwide sport contractor, Hellas Sports Construction was selected by the University of Southern Mississippi to replace the turf at M. M. Roberts Stadium, including base improvements and a new collector system to improve playability and drainage of the once tornado damaged field. Hellas will be on site installing its Matrix turf system with a completion date expected in late June.

“We are thrilled to be the turf provider for the University of Southern Mississippi,” said business development manager, Amy Champion, who has been working closely with the school to ensure that the field is restored to its original glory, enhanced with a fully upgraded synthetic turf system. “M.M. Roberts Stadium is one of the best football venues in the southeast region and in Conference USA. We are very proud to be a part of it.”

The next step will be to install Matrix Turf with its patented Realfill™ system, preventing infill fly-out and splashing when athletes make cuts on the turf and improving drainage by drawing water away from the synthetic turf field faster.
Jeff Hammond, the Director of Athletics for The University of Southern Mississippi said, “We are pleased in our partnership with Hellas Sports Construction and their dedicated professional efforts in the installation of our new turf system. We share a common view regarding pride, trust and hard work; and we look forward with great excitement to a wonderful future with our Hellas turf system.”

M. M. Roberts Stadium, dubbed “The Rock” by loyal Southern Miss fans, has been home to a number of Southern Miss football standouts, including the likes of Reggie Collier, Brett Favre, Ray Guy, Derrick Nix and Sammy Winder.

Hellas Construction’s client list includes the NFL Experience, Cowboys Stadium, AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, University of California at Berkeley, Baylor University, Idaho State University, the Alamodome, QuikTrip Park, Northern Arizona University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of San Diego and various other prominent high schools, collegiate institutions, and stadiums.

Hellas Sports Construction arrives in the Portland metropolitan area, ready to install the Matrix® baseball dual turf system in the new Hillsboro Ballpark.

HILLSBORO, OR — May 7, 2013 — Hellas Sports Construction has arrived on-site in the Portland metropolitan area. The sports contractor, based out of Austin, is slated to install their patented Matrix baseball dual turf system for the area’s only minor league baseball park, home of the Northwest League’s Hillsboro Hops. June 17th marks the inaugural home game in the brand new ballpark. The dual turf system, designed exclusively for the Hillsboro Ballpark through cooperation of D.A. Hogan & Associates and Hellas, features two different types of turf, Velocity XP and Matrix Turf, to ensure maximum playability.

Hellas Sports Construction, a newcomer in the great state of Oregon, is providing the turf for the first minor league baseball stadium in the Portland metropolitan area. President and CEO of Hellas Sports Construction, Reed J. Seaton, says of this new opportunity, “We are thrilled to bring our installation expertise and superior turf product to the Northwest League and The Hillsboro Ballpark.”

Hellas is bringing an entirely unique dual turf system to Hillsboro, specially designed by architects at SRG Partnership and D.A. Hogan & Associates’ landscape architect, Eric Gold. In a fully collaborative installation effort with general contractor Hoffman Construction and subcontractor Bernhardt Golf, Hillsboro Ballpark’s outfield is being christened with Hellas’ original Matrix turf system, while the infield and warning track is composed of Velocity XP, a 2.5-inch deep artificial turf product. This combination of synthetic fibers lends itself to create a playing surface comparable to that of real grass, unlike any other baseball field’s synthetic turf system. As Hellas’ flagship product, Matrix Turf delivers the most advanced turf system, ideally suited for baseball. Currently in its fourth generation, the Matrix Turf system is comprised of special monofilament yarns in different sizes, shapes and colors, creating the best traction and stability for athletes, while ensuring the highest durability and playability of any turf product in the industry.

Regarding the upcoming collaboration, Seaton states, “We are extremely pleased to work with SRG Partnership, D.A. Hogan & Associates, Hoffman Construction, and Bernhardt Golf on such a prestigious job. We hope that the level of service and quality we provide will bring our products to other local venues and baseball facilities.”

When awarding the bid, Hellas Sports Construction’s extensive track record, including projects for University of California at Berkley, Cowboys Stadium, the Cotton Bowl, Baylor University, Idaho State, the Alamodome, Northern Arizona University and other prominent stadiums, played a key role in the City of Hillsboro’s choice.

Hillsboro Ballpark plans to host the only professional baseball team in the Portland metropolitan area, the Hillsboro Hops. When not in use by the Hops, the ballpark will be opening its doors to host other baseball games, as well as soccer and lacrosse matches.

Hellas Sports Construction is a nation-wide sport contractor with a solid reputation for delivering premium-quality sports construction projects across the United States. Additionally, Hellas is an industry leader in the manufacture, installation, and maintenance of its proprietary brands of synthetic surfaces for field sports, running tracks, and tennis courts. Hellas oversees all marketing, sales, quality control, and project management operations from one of several US-based offices.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Homer Bryce Stadium will have a new look for the start of the 2013 season with the addition of a new playing surface Stephen F. Austin Director of Athletics Robert Hill Announced Monday morning. The department has chosen Hellas’ Matrix Turf to replace the current surface, which has been used for the past nine seasons.

“We are very excited about the addition of a new surface,” said Hill. “The normal life expectancy of an artificial surface is approximately eight to10 years, and we’ve had the current surface for nine seasons. I believe fans will like the new look to the stadium. The added color to the field will only enhance our recruiting effort.

“Player safety is very important to everyone in athletics. We always want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to protect our athletes. The current surface had been in place for nine seasons, and with that comes obvious wear and tear. With new advances in technology this new surface is safer,” added Hill.

SFA officials selected Matrix Turf from Texas-based Hellas Sports Construction. Hellas has installed more than 80 fields in the state including the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor, UTEP, Texas Tech, Lamar as well as having the surface in the Alamo Dome.

Construction is set to begin on June 1, and is scheduled to be completed prior to the beginning of fall camp. The new surface will include more color than the current turf. The field will consists of purple end zones with white lettering. The north end zone will have “Stephen F. Austin” and the south “Lumberjacks” with the new SFA logo at the 50-yard line. The re-surfacing will also extend beyond the south end zone giving the football team more practice area. In addition to the new surface, Hellas will also be installing new goalposts.

“When I made the announcement to the team about the new turf it got a standing ovation,” said Lumberjack head football coach J.C. Harper. “This is the same surface that the Cowboys are using, and everything they do is first class. This is a first-class surface and who doesn’t want to be apart of something that is first class. I would personally like to thank Robert Hill, Dr. Baker Pattillo and the Board (of Regents). They do everything within their power to allow our teams to be as successful as they can be. None of this would be possible without their leadership.”

SFA switched from a natural to an artificial surface in 1990. Matrix Turf will be the fourth artificial surface in Homer Bryce Stadium history.

During the installation of the surface, the track and field will be closed to the public. The stadium’s concourse level will remain open as long as no issues exist with individuals going to the field level during installation.

The Texas Tech Chapter of the National Football Foundation selected Coronado’s Greg Hewett to receive the Hellas Construction Scholar Athlete Scholarship worth $2,000.

LUBBOCK, Texas (April 26, 2013) – For the second consecutive year, Hellas Construction sponsored its Hellas Construction Scholar Athlete Scholarship. Hellas’ Roland Murray presented the $2,000 scholarship on Wednesday night to Coronado’s Greg Hewett at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center on the Texas Tech University Campus. Hewett’s nomination came from his football coach who told Mr. Murray that Hewitt had “the strongest moral compass” of any player he’d ever had. The Texas Tech Chapter of The National Football Foundation selects an amateur football athlete to receive the Scholarship based on nominations from administrators and coaches for outstanding achievements on and off the football field.

“It’s a great scholarship program, and I’m glad we’re a part of it,” commented Roland Murray, Business Development Manager with Hellas Construction.

In addition to the Hellas Construction Scholar Athlete scholarship, the Texas Tech Chapter of The National Football Foundation recognized key individuals who have made a positive impact in amateur football. E.J. Holub, Louis Kelley, Johnny Taylor, Ken Patterson, Brad Davis, Kyle Maxfield, Bob Stanley, Cody Davice, and Joe Alexander all received awards during Wednesday evening’s banquet.

Last year, the winner of the Hellas Construction Scholar Athlete scholarship was Tanner Moore, from Seminole High School in Seminole, Texas. Tanner is currently attending West Texas A&M University as a junior and studying Economics. Recently he made The President’s List at West Texas A&M, which recognizes students who have achieved a 4.0 GPA.

“Our commitment to Texas football runs deep,” said Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas Construction. “Showing our support for outstanding athletes reinforces Hellas’ commitment to athletics and academics.”

Hellas Construction has a strong reputation for managing and delivering premium-quality sports construction projects to clients across the United States. Since 2003, Hellas has constructed and installed hundreds of synthetic turf athletic fields – a majority of Hellas Construction’s sports projects are right here in Texas. In addition to artificial turf, Hellas manufactures and installs a proprietary line of running track and tennis court products. Research and development, testing, quality control, and product innovations have elevated Hellas Construction’s proprietary athletic systems to the industry forefront for both quality and durability.

Hellas mobilized early this week to replace the District’s existing natural grass field with a Matrix® Turf system.

LAGO VISTA, Texas (April 22, 2013) – Lago Vista Independent School District is upgrading their athletic facilities and has chosen a nationwide provider in their own backyard for the project. Hellas Sports Construction was selected for its tight vertical integration, ability to meet deadlines, and their proprietary synthetic turf system – Matrix Turf. Matrix Turf’s exceptional durability, strong reputation within the sporting community, and patented technology are features that have attracted many clients, like Lago Vista ISD.

“Lago Vista really wanted our Matrix Turf,” said Eric Lutz, Business Development Manager for Hellas Sports Construction. “They have seen how well it performs under heavy use, played games on our Matrix Turf, and know that it is a great system that no one else can offer.”

Hellas will complete the conversion of an existing natural grass athletic field into Matrix Turf. The synthetic turf conversion from natural to artificial grass will aid the District in reducing its environmental impact on what are already alarmingly low water levels at Lake Travis.

The new athletic field is part of a planned expansion of Lago Vista ISD, which is building the new Lago Vista High School at the project site. Hellas Sports Construction began mobilizing construction crews and equipment this week in an effort to get the project completed ahead of schedule.

Based on CAD designs produced by Hellas, the new Matrix Turf athletic field will feature inlays for various sports – reducing the need for separate athletic facilities – and both practice and official games will occur on literally the same synthetic turf! This will also help reduce the amount of green space currently needed to support district athletics, recreational sports, and continual use by various other student organizations. For instance, the marching band, cheerleading squad, and dance teams will also be able to use Hellas Sports Construction’s advanced turf system.

“We have invested heavily in our Matrix Turf system,” noted Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas Sports Construction. “It’s so much more than synthetic turf. Below the surface are innovations only Hellas can provide, which we feel make Matrix Turf the best choice for any athletic facility.”

In addition to constructing and installing the Matrix Turf system at Lago Vista High School, Hellas controls the manufacturing facilities, so meeting the District’s timeline won’t be an issue. Crews expect to wrap up construction to the new synthetic turf field in late May.

Hellas Sports Construction is a nation-wide sport contractor with a reputation for managing and delivering premium-quality sports construction projects. In addition, Hellas manufactures and installs proprietary synthetic systems for field sports, running tracks, and tennis courts, controlling operations from one of several US-based offices. Clients include the NFL Experience, Cowboys Stadium, AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, University of California at Berkeley, Baylor University, Idaho State University, the Alamodome, Northern Arizona University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of San Diego and various other prominent high schools, collegiate institutions, and stadiums.

Hellas Sports Construction is gearing up to support its successful business model and high-quality American-made product lines: Matrix® Turf, EpiQ Tracks™, and TPS® Court Surfaces.

AUSTIN, Texas (April 3, 2013) – Austin-based Hellas Sports Construction is re-emphasizing its commitment to quality, customer service, and American-made products as the company is expanding its headquarters along with manufacturing capabilities. Earlier this year, plans were set in motion to expand their customer service and support staff and the company’s turf, track, and tennis court production facilities. Those plans came to fruition this month, beginning with Hellas opening a new facility to house its growing fleet of construction equipment, turf maintenance machinery, and delivery vehicles for its epiQ TRACKS line of eco-conscious running tracks and Matrix Turf line of synthetic turf. In addition, Hellas recently completed an expansion at its corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas, and polyurethane and running track production plant in Liberty Hill – Roxie Polymers.

Several Austin-based employees transitioned offices and moved into the newly renovated space to make way for additional staff. The reorganization also helped align individual departments in close proximity to those with which they work the most. Divisions within Hellas Sports Construction that saw the largest increases include Project Management, Estimating, and CAD Design.

“These additional resources are necessary to ensure each of our customers receive hands-on, personal attention,” noted Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas Sports Construction. “I’m proud of the new talent we’re bringing on board. They will help deliver a more valuable experience for clients from start to finish.”

Hellas Sports Construction employs full-time staff of over one hundred employees, with specific divisions dedicated to planning, manufacturing, construction, installation, and even maintenance of its proprietary athletic systems. This unique structure positions Hellas as a centralized hub for its sports construction projects – providing on-time delivery and personalized support – something Hellas’ customers have come to appreciate.

Hellas Sports Construction is a nationwide contractor with a strong reputation for delivering premium-quality sports construction projects across the United States. In addition, Hellas has the ability to custom-manufacture and install proprietary brands of synthetic surfaces for field sports, running tracks, and tennis courts, by controlling all related operations. In addition to a headquarters in Austin, Hellas operates several US-based offices. Clients include the NFL Experience, Cowboys Stadium, Baylor University, Idaho State University, the Alamodome, Northern Arizona University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University of San Diego, University of Georgia and various other prominent high schools, collegiate institutions, and stadiums.

Roxie Polymers, a subsidiary of Hellas Construction, Inc., recently installed tank #6 at its track and polyurethane manufacturing plant in Liberty Hill, Texas

LIBERTY HILL, Texas (March 26, 2013) – Recently, Hellas Construction setup a new satellite location to house its growing fleet of sports facility construction and installation equipment, as well as company-owned transportation vehicles. The fleet and vehicles previously resided at Roxie Polymers, Hellas Construction’s running track and polyurethane production plant, but were moved to free up land so Roxie Polymers can expand its manufacturing capabilities. This week, Hellas Construction crews, with the help of two large cranes, installed tank #6 at Roxie Polymers. The 35,000-gallon tank will address an almost overwhelming increase in demand for Hellas Construction’s proprietary running track systems, epiQ TRACKS.

Roxie Polymers employs a full-time staff at both Liberty Hill locations, including an on-site chemist and quality control expert responsible for maintaining the high-quality products Hellas (and Roxie) are known for throughout the sports construction industry. Now, in addition to manufacturing epiQ TRACKS for its US-based orders systems, Hellas Construction has begun fulfilling orders for the eco-conscious track systems for international clients.

“These are exciting times for us,” commented Reed J. Seaton, President and CEO of Hellas Construction. “Hellas has experienced outstanding growth over the last ten years. Growing our manufacturing capabilities is necessary to continue delivering our projects on-time and on-budget.”

Under direction from Hellas Construction, Roxie Polymers has pioneered advances in the production of highly durable running track systems (epiQ TRACKS) that are conscious of the environment and IAAF certified – a certification required of running tracks that will host international track and field competitions.

SAN DIEGO, California (March 12, 2013) – The newly renovated Fowler Park –University of San Diego’s baseball stadium – held its grand opening ceremony last week to a full house. Among the $13.8MM in renovations were new dugouts, a premier clubhouse with a players’ lounge, and upgrades to Cunningham Field including an 11,000 square foot Matrix® Turf apron. Cunningham Field is named after USD’s previous ballpark – Cunningham Stadium.

Hellas Sports Construction was chosen to install its proprietary synthetic turf system, Matrix Turf Baseball, behind home plate, along the first- and third-base lines, in the bullpens and grandstands. Matrix Turf Baseball is designed specifically for baseball application and requires minimal maintenance while withstanding constant use. The fibers look and perform similar to natural grass, and at first glance, fans don’t notice a difference between the apron’s artificial grass and the natural grass on the rest of the field.

Fowler Park’s iconic new home for the Division I West Coast Conference San Diego Toreros baseball team has only been open for a short time and is already receiving quite a lot of praise. In fact, Rich Hill, the veteran coach of the Toreros who has led them to five West Coast Conference titles and seven NCAA regional tournaments, feels Fowler Park is now the best college ballpark on the West Coast, maybe in the country.

“I’m excited to watch the Toreros play baseball on our turf,” added James Towsley, Vice President of Hellas Sports Construction’s West Division. “Seeing the finished product and witnessing the progress along the way is something I’ll never forget, and I’m happy Hellas was selected to play a part in this project.”

Construction crews and project superintendents in Hilo, Hawaii, are currently upgrading the running track, athletic field and sports facilities at Waiakea High School.

HILO, Hawaii (February 15, 2013) – Hellas Sports Construction superintendents, equipment and crews arrived in Hilo, Hawaii, early this year to begin repairs to the running track and replace an existing natural grass athletic field with Hellas’ proprietary, high-quality synthetic turf system, Matrix® Turf. Hellas Sports Construction’s Hawaiian office is working in conjunction with local crews to manage completion of the sports construction projects at Waiakea High School.

Waiakea High School joins the rapidly growing list of full-service customers Hellas Sports Construction’s Western Division has added so far in 2013. In addition to replacing the athletic field with artificial grass, track crews are repairing the running track surface with epiQ TRACKS™ full-pour track product – a durable and sustainable track surface, manufactured and installed exclusively by Hellas Sports Construction. Workers in Hawaii are also completing a new storage facility and field events area for Waiakea High School.

“On-time delivery and a satisfied customer remain our primary focus for these projects here in Hawaii,” noted James Towsley, Hellas Sports Construction’s Western Division Vice President of Business Development. “That’s our focus for every project.”

Hellas is scheduled to wrap up the construction and installation of the new Matrix Turf and epiQ TRACKS by mid-March. Upon final inspection and approval, Mr. Towsley will continue to develop business throughout the Hawaiian Islands utilizing valuable local relationships he has established in the area.

Hellas Sports Construction has a solid reputation for delivering premium-quality sports construction projects across the United States. Hellas also manufactures and installs its own proprietary synthetic sport surfaces for field sports, running tracks and tennis courts, controlling all operations from one of several US-based offices. Hellas clients include Cowboys Stadium, the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, University of California at Berkley, University of San Diego, Idaho State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Denver and various other prominent collegiate institutions and stadiums.
