BIKE FOR A BETTER FUTURE:

April 11 a bicycle caravan started out in Skagen. It has made its way through 40 cities across the danish country and wednesday we get the chance to join in.

Pimp your bike and chill in the multi-ethnic surroundings at Superkilen, and join the crowd heading for Christiansborg Palace Square at 2 pm.

It is all in favor of our environment and to encourage prime minister Helle Thorning to take the political lead for a green future in connection with the Rio Earth Summit this summer.

At Christiansborg Palace Square there will be concerts by Raske Penge/Klumben, Eaggerstunn and Pharfar, various speeches, free fair-trade coffee and the like from 4 pm. At 6 pm the afterparty starts at ‘Global’ located on Nørre Allé 7, where there is cheap food and lots of music.

Once in a while I find a really good 2nd hand store and this is no exception. Gemmeren is probably the most ‘hyggelig’ and cheap store I have ever found in Copenhagen. And that’s why I simply had to start contributing there a few weeks back.

Our neighbors bring us piles of pretty dresses, pumps and t-shirts. We have got clothes for both sexes and items like LP’s, CD’s, paintings and accessories.

This Easter an army of chicks and yellow stuff has invaded Gemmeren and we want to invite you inside. Have a look around and relax with a cup of coffee on the couch.

It is going to be really cheap and the money you spend goes to Folkekirkens Nødhjælp and their work in the world’s poorest countries as usual.

“No excuse! Do not miss out on this thrilling experience.

The Venus Labyrinth is an individual and interactive journey that contains 28 installation rooms, corresponding to the 28 known areas of the human brain, each room inhabited by a woman/performer. Each spectator enters the labyrinth alone, with a few minutes interval, and joins these women in a unique, sensorial and emotional experience. No spectator is presented with the entire labyrinth; no two spectators will view or share the same experience.

First you enter a large room. Lying among others you have to choose three objects, that’ll determine which rooms you’ll visit during your stay in the labyrinth.
The first room I visited was called ‘emotional centers’. Before I entered the room I was told to put on a blindfold. I did and a woman led me inside the room. Soft classical music was playing and we started to dance. First a bit awkward, but I got into it and began to feel comfortable. She was humming along to the tune. Our bodies were close. But suddenly she started to cry – at first silently then louder and more hysterically. A bit later her mood suddenly changed, and she started laughing. We were still dancing. Then the music grew more intense, and then she started screaming and went banging on the walls! After the outburst she came back to me, calmed down and we danced again. She started to hum like in the beginning. Relaxed. After a while the music stopped. She told me to take of the blindfold. She looked me straight in the eyes, while I left the room.

I visited two more rooms – each very different. One of them was named ‘sexuality’ and that room were even more intense than the first room I visited. But I won’t tell you what happened in there. You have to go see for yourself. An exhilarating experience awaits.

The author of this book (look at picture to the left) called “People with both feet on the ground, hangs the trees”, is celebrating his book release with handing out Hancock beers at the cosy bar ‘Din Nye Ven’/'Your New Friend’.

Why is he handing out free beers? Because, and I quote:

Churchill - definitely top 3 of my favorite events of the year.

Basically you lie on the floor on madrases in an old school church (!!!) while listening to soothing electro and watching the vj team Obscura’s visuals in the church ceiling. This truly is a devine experience that you do not want to miss!

Get your Ass to Mars presents: ‘The Woken Trees’ and ‘Shiny Darkly’.

It’s innovative post punk music in the chilled surroundings of Musikcaféen, Huset i Magstræde.

The two bands are upcoming rock/pop bands, supported by The Wands and accompanied by special guest: Strangers on a train.

Shiny Darkly have recently been signed by Crunchy Frog and will have their EP out in May meanwhile Woken Trees’ EP is already out there.

I wan’t say much more, check out Facebook (in danish though) and go see yourself.

One last thing I will mention is that the visuals are taken care of by a guy named Asger. Asgerlamper. To me this means the concert will have ultimate conditions when it comes to persuading people into letting themselves get carried away. And we like that, don’t we?

This springday has a somewhat grey and wet atmosphere that makes us want to cuddle up indoors, as if it was the first day of fall. Of course no one likes to play fall after winter – we would rather play summer. And what’s more summery than a fleemarket with music, folk dining and affordable bar – all indoors?

Bring cash, go for a treasure hunt or merely hang out and enjoy the buzzing atmosphere. KPH has, in the past, hosted cool and cultural events, so I don’t think you’ll regret stopping by this one.

Okay, I admit it: I’ve never really been a fan of graffiti. There’s just so much bad graffiti/tagging out there, so I never really gave this art form a fair chance. But, that stops now as I’ve stumbled upon Kasper F. Nielsen and his surrealistic photorealistic street art.

Kasper F. Nielsen has a fondness for Nørreport station, and some of the pieces in this exhibition are stencils on scraps from the renovation of this old train station. Kasper is inspired by thinkers such as Jean Baudrillard and Erving Goffman, and my favorite pieces are his graffitied S-train doors.

This vernissage won’t just be a display of well-executed and relevant street art, it will be an entire evening with street culture as DJ Poonyaporn Boontumma Breaks delivers the music. Don Fisso, an underground street clothing brand, will be displaying the latest collection characterized by the break dance movement and culture.

Depending on what you’re up for, you can also see the exhibition the day after, on Saturday. This will be a more classic have-a-glass-of-wine-while-you-walk-around-the-exhibition-listening-to-some-quiet-background-music event. No matter what you choose, go see this exhibition – Even if you’re not a breakdancing hand signs-throwing homeboy.

If you’re busy on the 2th or 3th, the exhibition will be at VESS until the 7th of March.

"Planeten" at Huset i Magstræde, Magstræde 14, city Show map

48 hours, 16 actors, 4 playwrights, 4 directors and 4 premieres.

The theathre concept “Det Kolde Bord #2” (The Cold Table) welcomes all of us to the premiere of 4 plays written, directed and staged within 48 hours, by a bunch of young talented cool people.

It all takes place on the stage “Planeten” at Huset i Magstræde. Although the 4 plays are all in Danish, I have to recommend it anyways because of the great experience I had the last time it took place. After the 4 plays there will be a party, both on the stage and out by the bar, which boasts cheap prices.

So if you’re not the theatre-type come anyway, have a dance, meet some funny people and have a drink, beer or soda around The Cold Table.

The first opening at Pleasant. Quite similar to One Day Gallery that held exhibitions in 2010 and 2011, the idea is simple: one day, vernissage plus finissage and pieces only by non-Danish artists. Everything quite intense considering the length of the exhibition but with champagne and hopefully plenty of people. And since it takes place at the Academy of Fine Arts at Kongens Nytorv, a perfect idea would be to see it before the Opening at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.
