Since I have been in Copenhagen I have not yet experienced something similar. This time the target was to get to know the Icelandic music scene – I heard already loads about it, but never actually heard anything apart from Bjork and Sigur Ros. Knowing that the Slice of Ice (group absolutely charmed by the Icelandic music, whose target is to introduce it to Copenhagen) are organizing a concert of FM Belfast and Retro Stefson, seemed like a prefect idea to understand what is so special about it.

We arrived into a great building at Christianshavn (old port warehouse), approached 5^th floor and found ourselves in a charming space with a view over a canal and the Copenhagen Opera.

The concert started with the performance of Retro Stefson – 7 teenagers who brought us into the summer times with their cheerful music. Their target was to interact with the audience and we had to get acquainted with special moves appropriate for each song. After some time, suddenly the band disappeared and FM Belfast came on stage. This, on the other hand, was a mixture of electro/dance that made us go absolutely crazy and we actually felt like we are in a party (except that the band was performing in front of us).

I can say with a hand on my heart: one of the best concerts in my life. And my aching body the next day can be a great proof that bands achieved what they were going for – moving the crowds.

For the first time this year, the recurrent electronic chill-out event will take place in the Brorson Church.

This evening there is an awesome line-up that will give you an ambient experience and turn the church space upside down with experimental visuals.

All through the night, there will be steaming hot chili cocoa and freshly baked buns. Sounds like the perfect match.

Yet another exhibition is taking place in the tunnel below Dr Louise’s Bridge.

During the coming week, the tunnel has been transformed into a public workshop and exhibition space for Israeli street art.

Every day, the artist called Know Hope will be working in the tunnel and put up his site-specific pieces along the lakes.

On the 12 March, you are invited to see the works and to hear Know Hope present the production. Also Undervejs will introduce you to some of the other projects going on in the tunnel.

Everything will be spiced up with a bit of wine and snacks by SJ (Soup Jockey) Christian Hovesen. Dj ObernKarbi will take care of exotica and decadence.

A series of Friday bars: Vice Picks. The simple concept is to go to a new place each month and spice it up with a bit of beers, Jägermeister and some loud music. The places will be chosen from their originality, ambience and history and the musical twist will be alternative and quirky.

First place chosen is the legendary Chicky Grill Bar. One of the places around the meatpacking area that has been there for a long time, before the place turned trendy.

Go for some cheap drinks, gear down and warm up for the weekend together with friends or new friends.

Rumkammerat invites to the openning of  “Do it yourself (DIY) – Punk culture’s best gift” presenting works of Spanish artists: Joan Tarrago and Margue Lopez ( known from their designs for Quicksilver). The aim is to show that elements of street art and graffiti can be transformed into a ‘wearable’ way creating a unique piece with an edge.

Participants will be also invited to meet the artists and take part in creating art themselves. The outcome will be turned into a fanzine.

The exhibition starts on the 12 of March and runs until 22 of April.

This is one of those events we just can’t help loving. The Skateistan fundraiser is back with a great party introducing you to a cultural inferno of cooking, photographic and pictorial arts, music and ofcourse lots of street skaters will drop by to show their skills.

Skateistan is a volunteer-driven NGO, whose main thrust is to create a positive content in Afghan children’s lives by building professional skateparks around Afghanistan. On the day of the fundraiser Cph Skatepark hosts a big skate competition and some of Scandinavia’s best skaters will be participating in the open jam between 20:00 and 21:00.

Also you can expect a unique exhibition of hand painted skateboards from both Danish and international artists and a special photo exhibition showing you Skateistan’s newly established school in Afghanistan. Throughout the day and night cool music will keep you warm at heart.

In the spirit of inspiration itself, Ignite invites you to a session where ideas can be shared and new inspiration can be ignited.

A number of speakers will in 5 minutes show 20 slides and show and tell about their passion. It will be thought-provoking, fun, local and global – maybe even boring, but don’t worry. There’s only 5 minutes to the next speaker.

Ignite started in Seattle in 2006 and for the first time Copenhagen takes part in Global Ignite Week together with many other cities around the world.
