Since Ross is busy hosting Chelsea Lately this entire week, i thought it only fitting that someone guest host his blog. Just for this one post, because it’s going to be more of an op-ed, let’s call it. And all because I had some Ross-Blog-Full-Circle-A-Ha-Moment thoughts today. And they are all about...well, us.

Yes, that's right, blog buddies. US. The collective Us here at the ole Ross Blog who have been brought together in orbit of a mini-sun--the bright and always-funny ray of light that is our Ross. It struck me today as I left work early (took an actual half day-which is unHEARD of around my office) just so that I could go support Ross in the live studio audience taping of Chelsea Lately. (Oh, did I mention that he's the guest host? The only guest host that's ever hosted Chelsea's show? And did I mention that he's hosting ALL WEEK LONG while Chelsea is in Vietnam?) I mean, c'mon now blog buddies. WE'VE always known that Ross had--and is--something special. We were smart enough to see it and stick around to support him because...well, because he makes us smile, and laugh, and he also makes us think. Without making us feel bad about ourselves. And best of all, he makes us get up and DO SOMETHING about the things around us that we aren’t satisfied in…whether it’s losing weight or sending in all of your tacky crap solely to piss me off and clutter our NBC office (oh yeah, you better believe that I still remember that!), there’s never been anyone able to put out such a great call-to-action and get such a wonderful response. From YOU guys.

We are ever-indebted to Ross for at the very least one thing: for bringing us all together here in this digital world, but in an oh-so-real way. I can't tell you how excited I get when i see someone post a comment in "Area 51" (o.g. blog buddies will know what i'm talking about). Also, whenever I see Biscuit post a new photo of her and Butters' beautiful baby boy, or comment on one of my milestone moments, it makes me smile and pause for the moment to give thanks to the universe. I love hearning news about Glynis and Berry, and I love when I see daily posts in the Ross Blog BFF’s FB group. In another RossBlog twist of fate, today when I was leaving the first taping of Chelsea Lately, I was in the lobby and turned around to see the one and only JoeySC (a long-time blog buddy). Ross and I used to have a series of quotes from him up on our office wall at NBC, where we shared a corner office with lots of windows, a "casting" couch, and plenty of tears, laughs, and milestone life moments. It was our playground...

And now, years and years later, I can't help but watch Ross preparing in his dressing room to host the ENTIRE friggin' show today. Holdin' his own. I used to watch Jay Leno rehearse each days' live show, and now I'm watching Ross rehearse his live show, and it's surreal. You see, Ross and I used to get to run around the NBC lot with a camera and then eventually a flip cam and ask everyone for permission to post pictures and stories on this thing called the internet. And we wanted to bring behind-the-scenes of the amazing production that is The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to people on the web. We were able to bring new fans to the little world that we were tiny specs in, and it was all through Ross’s eyes…and blog.

So today as I prepared to go to the show, I dug up an oldie but a goodie, just to put an exclamation point on the overwhelming sense of pride and joy that I feel about and on behalf of Ross today. I pulled up the very fist talky blog that Ross made--ever. It was a video where Ross sat in our office, and I sat on the floor in front of him, and he French-braided my hair while talking to all of YOU...through the camera. And he hasn’t stopped since. He’s entertained us and steadily and surely climbed up the ladder towards his life-long dream…while taking us along with him, and always staying the same, beautiful person that he is. It’s so funny to me to think of us sneaking around the NBC lot thinking we’d get in trouble for taking pictures of the underground tunnel under the NBC commissary to post online, to see us now in his dressing room as the HOST of Chelsea Lately, with me being able to take whatever pix I wanted and share them all with YOU. It’s also amazing to see him in an ironically similar situation to the one Jay Leno found himself in 20-or-some-odd-years ago: guest hosting for Johnny Carson, not knowing that some day, he would be a name in lights of his own.

Today, I just want to stop and thank the universe for bringing us all together in support of Ross, and I want to congratulate him on being the success that he is today. Ross, baby, this is only the start of your rise to the top, and I think that I speak on behalf of all of us when I say that we cannot WAIT to see what’s next. Although I’m having a full-circle moment when I think of our times together years ago, I KNOW that this isn’t it. I know that there is so so so so so much more to come, and it feels damn good knowing that I can come around here to the RossBlog to share that excitement and anticipation…and your journey…with all of the blog buddies whenever we need a Ross-fix. We are all now forever connected, and we all have each other to “guest host” when you’re busy or traveling—we know that you will always come back right here, where it all started years and years ago.

Ok, back to regularly scheduled blog business. Enough of this emotional crap. :) WatchChelsea Lately tonight—it was friggin’ hilarious. Lisa Vanderpump from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is on and she brought Giggy with her. Ross and Chuy get a little action. Tune in to find out what it is! And watch it all this week as Ross continues his guest-hosting gig. Or until they realize that Chelsea’s gone and they kick him out. I KID!

Happy Saturday, blog buddies!

My mom and Aunt Jill came to town on Tuesday and we have been having a blast. Here they are in front of one of my favorite walls at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (where we went to pick up my & Salvador's Golden Globe credentials) and with Jay Leno after they were in the audience for Thursday's show.

Jill went home yesterday (we miss you - come back!), but mom extended her trip so she could be here when I'm a guest on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (1/18)! Mark your calendars!

Today I have Golden Globe rehearsal (I'll be live on E! basically all day, including a live post show from the lobby of the hotel).

Last night mom made her famous meatloaf for Sal & I. YumYumYum!

Looky looky, blog buddies! Our tree is UP and shining bright! I love love love putting the tree up this early before Christmas because this way we get to enjoy for MUCH longer.

We listened to holiday music and laughed all night as we pulled festive whatnots out of the box marked "XMAS" that has been in the storage shed for a whole year. I love the process of decorating the house for the holidays. I have since I was just a little boy and I would help my dad find our holiday stuff in the garage. What can I say? I'm seriously holly jolly.

First things first - I'm on Chelsea Lately TONIGHT! Watch if you can!

In other news, I'm in an extra-great mood today because my favorite time of the year is kicking into full swing! Not only is the holiday season here, but today marks the official beginning of Hollywood's movie award season!

The New York Film Critic's Circle was the first critic's group to announce it's list of winners this year and they named The Artist as best picture (and best director). What's so interesting is that The Artist is the first black and white silent film to come out of Hollywood in decades!

Other awards went to my girl Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady for Best Actress while Best Actor honors went to Brad Pitt for his roles in MoneyBall and The Tree of Life.
