Posting a mail I received...

Please Do Not board Autos just from Front of an ATM.. walk a bit and Then board an Auto.

A person called Fiaz(Accenture Employee) went to Anand Rao Circle, Bangalore ICICI bank ATM last Saturday 24.7.04 and drew Rs. 4000/- cash and took a auto standing in front of the ATM.

After 2 Minutes of drive this auto driver stopped the vehicle and made a phone call on his cell phone. Our guy didn't bother much and thought the auto driver may have some urgency.

The auto was going towards Majestic and in the next signal 2 hefty guys and 1 beautiful girl rushed into this auto. 1 guy sat on the iron bar and the girl sat next to him and the other guy next to her. The guy sat on the iron bar branded a knife, the other guy caught his throat and the girl put her legs above his lap and held his hands. The guy with the knife started banging him on his face and he
started bleeding ....our guy was speechless and they didn't stop beating...he was not able to even shout for help as the other guy caught on his throat ! The gang threatened him that if he shouts for help they will say that this guy is kidnapping the girl and the 2 guys came for rescue and auto driver is approver for that !!

They took his cash of Rs. 4000/-, took his watch and picked up his mobile. As the mobile was old model they returned to him ! All in the journey,while they kept beating him. After looting everything they pushed him from the auto in cubbon road and flew away. He was bleeding from his broken lip and didn't even note down the auto number becoz of the rude shock. You know what - all this happened between 1 - 1.30pm of the day in one of the busiest area of Bangalore !! who told Auto is safe to travel
??!!

Please be careful before getting into an auto especially after you come out of a ATM !!

If u feel like u can pass this message to ur friends to aware them about Autos in Bangalore or for that matter anywhere!!!

There was an incident this Saturday (25-Jun-05). Myself and 3 of my friends went to MAS Restaurant in Madiwala (Opposite to KPN Travels) and ordered for Chicken Briyani. We started taking food since it was too late in the afternoon....to our surprise one of my friend saw a RAT in his food.

This is not the only incident that happened in MAS Restaurant - Madiwala, previously another friend of mine got COCKROACH in the food supplied to him. Also MAS Restaurant in Electronic City was closed due to FOOD POISON for few days and reopened again.

Be careful whoever going to MAS Restaurant in Madiwala (Opposite to KPN Travels). Since it is in prime area where so many travels are located, which is the boarding place for most of the travels, it is obvious that many would take food from the restaurant before boarding the bus. So this is just to CAUTION everyone about the quality of the food supplied in the MAS Restaurant.

We are framing this mail because though we complaint about the incident in CONSUMER COURT, sure it will reopen after few days and many would not even know about the incident. But this mail will sure reach so many in Bangalore, which will be more effective.

So please pass on this mail to all you know...

Why cant this be done all across Bangalore and around the country?

Residents’ unique initiative to clear roads

This will definitely mean that the traffic situation will be monitored in a better way. We have to come up with such innovative ideas to control the traffic. Just by putting up a flyover or creating new roads is not going to solve the problem.

The reason is that the number of vehicles driving/riding the roads are increasing and the roads cannot be widened/increased further. So, ensure that whoever is travelling, does so in a regularised manner and introduce newer methods of taking care of traffic.

HATS OFF TO LOKAYUKTA

Lokayukta team is headed by Justice N Venkatachala. On July 2, 2001, Mr. Justice N. Venkatachala, retired judge of the Supreme Court, was sworn in as the Lokayukta by the Governor, Ms. V.S.Rama Devi, at the Raj Bhavan.

Justice Venkatachala is putting the fear of god in the Karnataka administration. The office receives anywhere between 100 and 250 complaints of corrupt practices in the administration "every single day".

This body has been raiding offices and catching officials red-handed. Hence, there is some amount of fear in the government officials that their crime will be caught one fine day. This is good and must be done in all possible areas. The element of fear has come about not so much because Justice Venkatachala has taken action in every case he has caught, many a time, red-handed by personally leading the raiding party.

Corruption should be reduced to the minimal possible. Otherwise, we will not be able to move forward in our aim to become a DEVELOPED COUNTRY - a vision of Abdul Kalam is that we will strive to attain this in 2010.

I think they should continue their GREAT Activities and remove the very presence of CORRUPTION in Karnataka. People should support their cause in the fullest extent possible and ensure that they send their complaints on errants to the Lokayukta.

Everyone knows the importance of Helmets while riding two-wheelers. But, I think somewhere there is some misplaced opinions about Helmets being made mandatory. I cannot understand why people feel that Making Helmet Rule Mandatory is not important.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE GUYS!!! Do they know or believe in what they are saying???

I feel and think that HELMETS ARE MANDATORY IN BANGALORE TRAFFIC CURRENTLY. It becomes all the more significant with the traffic and the number of heavy vehicles traversing the roads of Bangalore.

As on May 6, there was a notification that the Helmet rule would be made Mandatory. But, looks like it has been postponed again!!!

Whats with a divider?

Why are dividers not present on the road on all roads in Bangalore?

This will prevent people from taking turns as and when their mind wants to. These will also stop the drivers taking sudden U-turns and causing traffic to build up everywhere. What should be done is that dividers should be put on ALL Roads in Bangalore so that no one can move from their current direction of movement on roads.

Otherwise, there is just chaos. Of late, the Corporation have realised that and there are some places where the dividers have started appearing. This has actually helped in improving the traffic scene in these places.

Do other countries have dividers on roads? Difficult question. The driving culture is more refined (over the years) and looks like the drivers dont require one also.

Are cops enough in Bangalore?

I think the cop-to-public ratio in Bangalore is very low. The first thing to improve the state of affairs of any city or town or any place in general is to first ensure that the policing is done properly. Since we still have way to go in terms of technology and have an inherent advantage of mass population, we need to go for more COPS. This will have multiple benefits as can be seen in my later posts.

Also, I feel that the best way to change the way the common man on the street behaves, is by strict policing. The best example of this is the city-country of SINGAPORE - the general public are so scared of the police (supposedly the whip-lashing is the most dreaded) and hence they dont spit on the roads, for example. Also, there is an additional factor of a huge fine that is in store for anyone who gets caught for spitting on public roads. I think its time that in India, we need to have police come up with such policies for various things like spitting, public urination, depositing garbage on roads, etc. For this to happen, the first step is to ensure that we have more Cops. Only this way, we can start instilling the culture in the citizens of India that someone will catch us if we dont do things in the proper way. Slowly, this fear will turn to a cultural characteristic and people will STOP doing things the wrong way.

WHAT are COPS required for? This is a topic for one whole blog and I will add things as and when required.

I would like to check the net and see if there are any stats on the cop-to-public ratio of other cities and if I get it, will update this post.

Autos Complaint

This is one complaint I have been hearing quite frequently nowadays...So, looks like there is a way out.

One of my friend had forwarded a mail, which I am posting as is. Please start taking this action from TODAY...Also, forward this to as many people as you can and ensure that the auto menace is taken care of.

During the last 6 month in Bangalore, I perceived that local commutation here is really exasperating, particularly when you rely on Public transport and has not plan for your own conveyance. I am trying to take some steps, I don't know whether it will be prolific or not, for that i talked to controller office of Auto Unit. That person ensured that no auto person is allowed to ask 1.5 times of charges before 10:00 PM , neither the Auto person will be given extra money during rain. I 've suffered a lot due to auto behavior that during rain or even at 8:00 they start asking extra money.

The major plus in Bangalore is the boom of Real Estate value. Here, Bangalore Development Authority is the land authority which approves the land registration and other formal activities. Only if your land is a BDA land or a BDA Approved land, you can be sure that nobody will try to force themselves on it. BDA tries to allot land to people of Karnataka also so that everyon has a chance to acquire land. They come out with a notification list which is used to determine who gets it and who doesnt. This is typically found on the Indiawatch website.

There is a MSN Groups - BDASITES that discuss on everything related to BDA Sites and typically if you have the time and require more information, you would be advised to check this out. Its really useful for one who is new to the real estate scene. Rural Bangalore is usually taken care by BMRDA. What is seen is that because of the boom, there are more sites registered by BMRDA as well, probably more than the BDA sites.

As the boom starts spreading to other cities in Karnataka, the MUDA gets famous as well. MUDA is MYSORE URBAN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY. They have their layouts, authorization, notification, etc - This seems to be more organized and hence all the details can be found in one website.

Trains are the most often used mode of transport, though flights (low-budget airlines) are giving them the run of the money. Southern Railway website is really good to track trains and get availability of trains from Bangalore, though the reservation can be done on the IRCTC site.

There are new airlines that have originated out of Bangalore and are expanding in a big way. Significant of them are Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines.

Buses are also quite a few, which join Bangalore to Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin, etc. These are also used in a big way. The Government services are provided by KSRTC.

I am starting this blog to be able to contribute to the betterment of my home city - BANGALORE.

We keep hearing that Bangalore is a great place to stay, hot place to invest in, etc.

Also, we hear people complaining that the infrastructure needs to improve, roads are bad, power condition should improve, water is deficient, etc.

What we will use this forum is to try and list the issues that we notice on a daily basis and also suggest a solution for the same. Who knows, later, we can use this to petition to the Government or whoever is willing to consider the suggestions and implement the same.

I will also post information that will be useful for people living in Bangalore like Important places to visit, places of Utility value, etc.

Hence, I request whoever is able to visit this site and lives in Bangalore and prays that it has to improve, please put in your thoughts as well so that we can try and improve BANGALORE CITY.
