Never own a Blackberry with Verizon

<pre-wrap>I have the unfortunate situation of owning a Blackberry with Verizon. Between the deleted emails, missed calls, deleted call logs, older versions of OSes (thus memory leaks), no GPS available to apps like google maps, etc etc etc ... This phone is terrible!!!

When RIM releases an update, everyone gets it except verizon. Because (Verizon says they have to review the update to make sure it's good) but really they just take their sweet time tweaking the update to continue to block certain tools (like GPS) from apps!!! So that users are forced to pay for crap like VZNav!

Why spend good money on a blackberry when the darn thing will never work, and when it does, will always be out of date??

Company is crap. complete crap. Never again.

<pre-wrap>Long story short, after YEARS of dealing with Verizon's nonsense and bullshit and indescribable run-around techniques used to get customers off the phones, I am done. I know, it's taken a long time, but seriously, I guess I'm just a person who believes in giving a company a second chance, maybe even a third. But, when you charge me for text messages on my husband's phone, when he's never been charged for them before, and claim he's NEVER had an unlimited text plan, even though I can produce about 30 bills that say he DOES have that plan, and HAS had that plan since we were married in 2006, and you STILL REFUSE to credit my account back the 180 dollars, and REFUSE to let me speak to a manager...well. I'm rip-roaring pissed. To say the least. Also, this is not the first time this "mistake" has happend, along with a plethera of other crap intermixed with ridiculous excuses and emotionless apologies. I guess I shouldn't expect more from a company that STILL has my husband's name wrong on the bill (a totally different man, whom I am not married to, I don't know where the name came from), despite the fact that every time I have to call, I ask for the name to be changed and am reassured that THIS time, it will happen. Verizon, you are a bunch of brainless monkeys. </pre-wrap>

<pre-wrap>Long story short. Verizon entered the wrong expiration date of the credit card they had been using for 3 years. Three times in a row.
They ended up cutting off my Internet service depiste my multiple attempts at paying my bill (they notified me in a letter 2 months after the fact).
I finally was able to convince someone to take my money.
I wish I could switch to another Co, but sadly Verizon is the only one where I live.
I hate Verizon.

Charge for whole month of service I don't want

<pre-wrap>I've been with Verizon for several years, and really didn't use the service that much. Three lines on a family plan. No huge complaints except that they would nickel and dime you to death.

Anyway I recently decided to get an iPhone thereby necessitating a switch to AT&T. I called Verizon ahead of time to inform them of my desire to cancel service. I was told that I was paid up through the 17th and I would be charged pro-rated for whatever else went beyond that. I was also told that if I canceled directly with them, I would loose my numbers, so I should go through AT&T.

So I ordered the new phones through AT&T and pulled over two of the numbers and got a new number for my iPhone. Two of the phones arrived on the 18th, and they were activated on the 19th (AT&T was swamped with activations). The third phone arrived on the 21st and was activated that same day. On the 22nd I called Verizon again to cancel the remaining number I no longer wanted or needed.

I was told that I had to give 30 day notice of cancellation and they wouldn't be able to cancel it until the next billing cycle. I was told this was part of the contract that I originally signed and there was nothing they could do about it.

As it is I've now paid for a full month of service for two lines that aren't even active anymore, and a third line of service I don't want.

I'm now worried that they are going to try and charge me for yet another month of service (or at least part of it) because 30 days from the 22nd takes me into the 22nd of July, and a few days past my normal billing cycle.

I was always a good customer of Verizon. I paid my bill on time every month. I wasn't a heavy user of their network, I did everything right, yet they are raping me as punishment for leaving them. All I can say is, thanks for making me never want to come back!</pre-wrap>

Can't get a supervisor - why can't VZN change?

<pre-wrap>Upgrading my FIOS service from standard box to an HD cable card.
They can't send the cards out. The "system" won't let them enter an order without a dispatch.
Placed the dispatch order for 8-12 on 7/3/09.

12:05pm on 7/3/09 - No tech. Called VZN.
Responded to automated voice prompts with all my info and sat on hold for 15 mins.

12:20pm spoke with person. They couldn't find my record because I don't have land line service, just Internet and TV. Still couldn't find it after giving house address. Finally found it with account number from the bill. Then she replied "I can't help you. You will have to speak to my colleague" and transferred me.

12:25pm - Colleague came on. Had no information on the purpose of the call. Went through the story again. She said she couldn't help me and transferred me to FIOS installation.

12:34pm - Spoke to a gentlemen. He couldn't find my account. Went through the process again and asked to speak to a supervisor. He laughed and hung up on me.

12:35pm - Call main 800 number again and sat on hold.

12:50pm - Spoke to another gentlemen after giving all my info and story again and asked for a Sr. Supervisor. I asked that my number be put in my record so that they could find it in the future. He said, no problem I’ll do that. He said “I apologize”. I was put on hold.

1:00pm - transferred to Jessica who said the order was put in the system for an 8am-5pm dispatch and she was trying to figure out where the tech was. Put on hold. She came back to say she couldn't find anyone who could give her a status. I ask to talk to a supervisor. Put on hold.

1:10pm - Spoke to supervisor. Told him my story. He said “I apologize”. He said the dispatch was for 8am-5pm and couldn't figure out when the tech would be here. But he did take my number so the tech could call me. I said I need some credits. He said I would have to talk to billing department. I asked him not to put me on hold, but get me someone who could give me credits. He put me on hold.

1:14pm- Billing department person answered. Had to give my information and story again. She said “I apologize”. She said the dispatch was set up for 8am-5pm and couldn't give me any credits. I asked for a supervisor. She put me on hold. After 5 mins, she came back to say that she couldn't get a supervisor and ask what number could be used for a supervisor to call me back. I said "the same number I just gave you". She repeated the number. I said that is correct. She said a supervisor will call you back in the next 48 hours. She then said that will be sometime Tuesday.

2:04pm – Tech called and said she would be here around 4pm. She said she was having a hard time finding my call back number. I told her my story. She said “I apologize”. The tech was actually very nice. She was surprised when I told her that I was being charged $80 for her visit. I hope she shows up at 4pm.

When I placed the order, VZN said a tech would be out from 8am-12pm. Someone put the dispatch in wrong. Not a single person I spoke with was willing to fix the issue or credit me for the inconvenience. They kept saying "the system won't let me...", "the system says...". It appears "the system" is running VZN, not the people. They kept saying "I apologize sir".
The phrase "I apologize" has become synonymous with "It is your problem, we are a monopoly, if you don't like it, too bad; pay your bill anyway".
What can we the people do to stop this? The only other game in town is Comcast who is just as bad.

<pre-wrap>Do not purchase the FIOS bundles. They will not give you any thing in writing until after every thing is installed. Then it is too late, you are stuck with whatever they want to charge. You can call and speak to the lowest employee to the CEO and ask for something in writing and you will not get it. Be very very careful in dealing with this. I will not take it even tho it is 1/2 installed in here. I asked and asked for every thing to be put in writing as a contract should be. They will not do it. They just do not respond when you ask for that. This is why so many people are charged for things they never expected. Verizon can add any thing they want to the bill AFTER you let them install it and you have no proof with out something in writing. That you will not get from them. </pre-wrap>

Double-charged, but "it will take 6-8 weeks to cut me a refund check"

<pre-wrap>I paid my Verizon phone bill and Interet via a check. Without warning Verizon cut my service, before the check arrived. I contacted customer service and was told I could pay immediately to have my service restored. When I inquired about my check, the lady said "you'll need to contact your bank to put a stop payment". I did pay immeidately and did call my bank to put a stop payment on check. To my surprise I get a note from my bank saying Verizon had run an electronic charge through for my bill amount...the bill I just paid! As it turns out, Verizon converts all checks to "electronic transfers" and draws the money out electronically. The result is that the "stop payment" was worthless, since the check never got submitted to the bank. The end result was $114.00 credit left at Verizon + $10 stop payment charge + $26.00 fees for other checks that couldn't clear due to Verizons charges.

I contacted customer support and "Mike" answered. When I explained the situation he said "the only option we have is to request a refund and it will take 6-8 weeks for a check to arrive. 6-8 weeks...... Are you kidding? What are they carving it with chisel and stone? What irks me is that Verizon is getting a two month interest-free loan of mine and other customers money before having to pay it back. It's stealing plan and simple.

If you are going to pay your bill, do it electronically and only let them run it through once. I hate Verizon and it's crappy customer service and products. First chance I've got I'm changing to Comcast and getting rid of the crap called "Verizon".</pre-wrap>

i would suggest everyone here send a copy of thier letter to charlie askine him to have this ceo back and answer all these problems. there is enough on this site to bring verizon down if we can get it on the air and if enough people will write it can be done. tv shows and papers are out to make money by their ratings. this would be a very good rating. if anyone wants to know more about my letter you can contact me at glsw1111@yahoo.com. this would be way better than a class action law suit. </pre-wrap>
