1. Project Associate-I: One position for 2 Years.

2. Eligibility Criteria: Master's Degree in Agricultural Sciences / Biological Sciences with evidence from published work in the area of Bioinformatics/Molecular Biology.

Desirability: Essential knowledge of computer and Bioinformatics software's for data analysis.

Age: Upper age limit 35

3. Work Description: The proposed Young Professional-I shall assist in:

1. Coordination of research and mentoring activities.

4. Organization of workshops, seminars, training programmes, and academic interactions.

5. Liaison with University departments, ANRE, collaborating institutions, and stakeholders.

Selected candidates will be required to undertake extensive field travel to various Himalayan regions including Uttarakhand, Sikkim, North Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and other locations as per project needs. Travel assignments may involve extensive field trips to remote localities of the Himalayan region.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES The selected candidates are expected to contribute to the following project objectives:

1. Conserve and secure seeds of India's endemic and IUCN Red-listed plant species through systematic collection, documentation, and long-term storage.

2. Develop a comprehensive, geo-referenced Seed Atlas mapping the distribution, ecological traits, and conservation status of collected species.

3. Integrate and strengthen community seed banks by linking grassroots conservation efforts with national infrastructure.

4. Facilitate research, ecological restoration, and reintroduction of threatened species by providing high-quality, viable seeds to scientific institutions.

5. Empower local communities, farmers, and women's groups through training and capacity-building programs in seed collection, storage, and sustainable use.

6. Ensure food and nutritional security by safeguarding plant genetic resources critical for climate resilience and sustainable agriculture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidates will be expected to:

• Conduct extensive field surveys in Himalayan regions for seed collection of endemic and threatened plant species

• Undertake seed processing, testing, documentation, and long-term storage activities

• Work on curation of biodiversity information from literature and herbarium specimens

• Perform seed viability testing, germination trials, and quality assessment

• Contribute to the development of a geo-referenced Seed Atlas using GIS tools

• Assist in training programs and capacity-building activities for community seed banks

• Prepare technical reports, research articles, and project documentation

• Maintain accurate databases and records of seed collections

• Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Project Investigator (PI) Candidates with sound knowledge in plant taxonomy, seed biology, seed conservation techniques, herbarium preparation, fieldwork, GIS tools, and database management will be preferred. Therefore, candidates having all the above criteria and willing to travel extensively to different parts of the Himalayan region are encouraged to apply.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Candidates are requested to ensure their eligibility with respect to age, discipline, qualifications, etc., and then fill the application form as per Annexure-2.

2. The interview for candidate selection will be conducted in Offline/Online Mode as applicable at the office of the Botanic Garden of Indian Republic (BGIR), Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The date and time of the interview will be communicated separately to the shortlisted candidates.

4. Applications for all positions will be screened, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview. Selection will be done based on performance in the interview and merit. 5. Selected candidates will be posted at any of the five regional centers as per project requirements and will need to join immediately.

WORK DESCRIPTION

Desirable Experiences Working experience in: Marine fishery identification; Database management systems; Those with CSIR/UGC/any fellowship will be given preference. Skill in swimming Conditions Candidate should be ready to work on board vessels for multiday sampling

Nature and duration of the post Purely on contract basis for a period of one year from the date of joining or till the completion of the project whichever is earlier.
