If you’re preparing for the CSIR-UGC NET (now Joint CSIR-UGC-DBT JRF-NET) in Life Sciences, this is one of the biggest updates in years. CSIR and DBT have merged the earlier separate CSIR NET Life Sciences and DBT-BET (Biotechnology) exams into a single unified examination called Life Sciences and Biotechnology (LS & BT).

The revised syllabus is now officially in effect (listed as “Syllabus (Revised)” on the CSIR-HRDG website for exam cycles up to June 2026). The merger aims to eliminate redundancy, reflect modern interdisciplinary research, and better prepare candidates for cutting-edge biotechnology careers in India.

Why the Change?

CSIR and DBT joined hands to create one national-level exam for JRF and Lectureship in biological sciences.
The new syllabus merges core Life Sciences topics with key Biotechnology areas while removing overlaps.
Effective from the December 2026 cycle onward (as per earlier official communications).

Job Description The One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) project aims to understand and address the emergence and spread of AMR across human, animal, agricultural, and environmental sectors. It adopts an integrated One Health approach to generate evidence through surveillance, field studies, and laboratory analysis. The project focuses on identifying key drivers of AMR in agri-food systems, including antibiotic usage patterns and environmental pathways. It also assesses knowledge, attitudes, and practices among stakeholders to inform behaviour change strategies. The findings will support policy recommendations and strengthen multisectoral coordination for AMR mitigation. Overall, the project contributes to national priorities and ICMR-led efforts to combat AMR.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Multidisciplinary Integration & Coordination

Lead coordination across multiple disciplines, including public health, environmental health, microbiology, and data science

Facilitate integration of research components into a cohesive

One Health framework

Organise and coordinate interdisciplinary meetings, stakeholder consultations, and technical discussions Liaise with partner institutions, implementation agencies, and collaborators

Assist in overall project planning, execution, and monitoring of activities

The National Institute of Immunology (NII) offers opportunities for students to undertake short-term training (6 months) under the following conditions.

Mode of application:

Eligibility

Applicants must be in the final year of one of the following programs:

Academic requirement
