Henredon and Holiday House 2010 in Traditional Home

If you’re not a subscriber, pick up a copy of the March/April 2011 issue of Traditional Home to see the wonderful “editorial” (beginning on page 50) showcasing the 3^rd annual Holiday House in New York
City.

Henredon and Traditional Home collaborated, providing furniture for this worthy event. Traditional Home’s Senior Style Editor, Krissa Rossbund, created the sophisticated, glamorous and feminine rooms shown below, and the proceeds benefited the great New York City affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Barbara Barry Singapore Gallery

Design superstar Barbara Barry is recognized for her clean, classic furniture styles, based on her vision of home as a place of comfort and simplicity. That vision is clearly exemplified in these new photos of her Singapore gallery, which opened in November 2009. The gallery is located in Proof Living’s boutique at Ion Orchard, the center of Singapore’s prime commercial and shopping district. It is owned by KT and Sherrie Ong à Mr Yung Ong.

Ms. Barry will be visiting the gallery in late November of this year for a series of events. However, if a trip to Singapore is not on your agenda—just enjoy browsing through these spectacular rooms featuring the Barbara Barry Realized by Henredon furniture collection.

Henredon and Traditional Home, Together in Holiday House 2010

There are so many wonderful things to see and do in New York this time of year, but one that is very special to us is the 3^rd Annual Holiday House, a tabletop designer showhouse in a magnificent limestone mansion on East 63^rd Street. This year Traditional Home and Henredon have teamed up to create a beautiful room that’s sophisticated, glamorous and feminine. The proceeds are going to benefit the great New York City affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure...and what better cause is there.

Henredon Celebrates Its 65th Birthday

This year, Henredon celebrated its 65^th birthday. To commemorate the occasion, an exhibit was set up in the Henredon showroom during the October High Point Market. In the exhibit were one of the very first chests to come off the assembly line, a desk from the 1950’s Frank Lloyd Wright collection, and a leather Anniversary chair that was added to the upholstery collection in 1995 to mark the 50^th anniversary of the company’s founding.

Among the memorabilia was a paper on which suggested names for the new company were scribbled. The winner, of course, was Henredon, taken from the names of three of the founders: Henry Wilson, Ralph Edwards, and Donnell Van Noppen. The fourth founder, Sterling Collett, did not wish his name to be part of the brand.

The chest was on loan from Ralph Edwards III, who had received it as a gift from his father, Ralph Edwards, Jr. The desk also came from the Edwards family. Ralph Jr. once told me it had been used in the Lazarus Clothing store in Morganton, NC, for many years. Newspaper ads from the John M. Smyth Furniture Company in Chicago featuring the Wright collection were also on display, as well as other newspaper clippings. Design Superstar Barbara Barry Greets Market Visitors

Design superstar Barbara Barry was on hand at the recent High Point Market to greet visitors and tell them all about her new introductions to the Barbara Barry Realized by Henredon collection. Henredon is the licensee for the living, dining, bedroom and upholstered furniture collection.

Entrance to the Barbara Barry showroom, adjacent to the Henredon lobby, featured a bigger-than-life-size ad for Ms. Barry’s Wedgewood china patterns. The color palette is an inspired blend of smoky amethyst, plum and mulberry.

This shot of the Barbara Barry showroom beautifully demonstrates the designer’s vision of home as a place of comfort and simplicity. Note the clean, classic pared down lines of the designs—each one created to bring elegance, ease, and grace to the home.

Ms. Barry points out features of the new Perfectionist Desk to House Beautiful editors.

Engaged in an informal chat are Barbara Barry and Margaret Russell, new editor of Architectural Digest and former editor of Elle Décor.

Market goers woke up the sleepy town of High Point, North Carolina, during the recent furniture market, October 15-22. Each April and October, this event attracts thousands of visitors who come to shop for home furnishings. In the city’s over twelve million square feet of showroom space, new upholstery, wood furniture, and accessory designs are unveiled. Here are a few candid shots taken in the Henredon showroom.

Our lobby was full of bustling activity as buyers from around the world gathered to see what was new at Henredon.

Market goers were all abuzz with talk of the latest furniture news and trend.

The High Point Furniture Market is upon us—October 15-21.
