Just how much in love are Natasha and Alan? Bedfont Lakes, near Feltham, was a lovely location for their pre-wedding eShoot and the weather was kind to us. I am fascinated by the idea of photographing love: I believe it is an important part of wedding photography and one that is sometimes overlooked in favour of style and detail; all three are important. What do you think?

Julia and Stewart Wedding Photography Sneak Peek | Old Thorns, Liphook

It’s June. And it rained. In fact, it rained most of the day before, most of the morning of Julia and Stewart’s wedding and later in the evening. BUT during their wedding and reception it stayed dry. Which is just as well because it meant we could get out onto the beautiful Old Thorn’s golf course and create some lovely shots. Here is a peek.

Tamsin and Gary Wedding Photography Sneak Peek | Kitley House Hotel

May Bank Holiday in Devon and we were all hoping for good weather so the ceremony could be held outside on the very pretty little moated island. Although Tamsin was very keen to do this, the registrar overruled us in the end and insisted that we stayed indoors. However, the day stayed fairly dry and we were able to move outside for some shots. Having the run of such a lovely country house hotel was a real joy and Tamsin and Gary (who are the most relaxed couple I have photographed in a while) were wonderful throughout the day. I have to say I thrived in this atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.

Alex and Abi’s shoot | Family Photographer, Richmond Surrey

Jewellery Fashion Shoot | Surrey Commercial Photography

I really enjoyed shooting this hand-made custom jewellery by Helen de Sarandy Helen has been producing lariats (necklaces to most people) for spome time and has been selling them through her website. She is just about to launch a custom service whereby she will visit a client’s home and design a number of custom lariats (and accessories) to go with specific outfits. Quite a few of her customers now regularly contact her after a shopping trip! She is based in Bookham, Surrey.

She wanted some new photography that was more lifestyle than product shots and I was happy to obliged. Many thanks to Mel Dulam who modelled all the jewellery.

Tamsin and Gary Wedding eShoot Photography | Kitley House Hotel, Plymouth

Unusually, I had not met Tamsin and Gary before they booked me for their wedding. We had agreed to meet in the reception of the georgeous Kitley House Hotel – a country house hotel in Yealmpton, Near Plymouth. Sitting by the open fire I remember feeling rather disappointed when a good-looking and obviously-engaged couple walked through reception and checked out. So, imagine my delighted when they re-appeared and announced themselves as Tamsin and Gary. Made my day.

Hello Tamsin and Gary

I really enjoyed meeting you both (I mean what I said above) and I felt we worked very well together. Kitley House is a lovely place to be married so I am really looking forward to May – when the new gazebo in the grounds should be available (as opposed to flooded) for your wedding ceremony.

Tom and Fran’s Wedding in Claygate and at The Dorchester

Fran and Tom married in their local church in Claygate, Surrey and then had a reception at The Dorchester – what a great venue the famous hotel was for the reception. They had come to me for their photography via Claire and Alex whose wedding I photographed last year. Because not all the guests were at both venues, Fran and Tom managed to sneak in two drinks receptions followed by two lots of food – one at the church and then one at The Dorchester – presumably on the basis that one can never have too much champagne. I really liked the idea of the evening meal being a High Tea – something the hotel are well-known for.

Second photographer on the day was John Bishop. John and I shoot a very similar style and several of the shots here are his work. Thanks, John.

Cupcakes and Cameras event with Tea Party

For some time now I have really liked the Tea Party concept – linking as it does with the current vogue for all things vintage these are small, intimate parties (or just teas) held in a beautifully decorated room. Traditional and modern cakes are served with good tea in vintage china. Fabulous.

Anyway, I was thrilled when Samantha – the brains behind the concept – contacted me recently and asked if I would be interested in being involved with an event she was hosting there. The idea was that guests could come along and enjoy a cupcake and tea and learn about how to use their digital cameras more effectively.

I had already written a few articles on how to achieve better shots of your childeren for local magazines and this was a chance to communicate them all face to face.

So, Samantha and I would be delighted to see you there. Tuesday 15 June at 10.30am. Tea Party can be found at 143 Long Lane, London N3 2QY. Cost is just £10 and you get a cupcake and tea as well as all this information.

25 London Marathons in 25 years

Even regular readers will not be aware that I do a lot of work for the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disbaility (RHN). Because I respect their very proper and strict rules on patient privacy I prefer not to blog these shoots as a rule.

However, following a recent visit by The Earl of Wessex (that’s Prince Edward to those who remember) I could not resist this post.

Lolo, who works in the catering department, has run the London Marathon no fewer than 25 times in the last 25 years – and all to raise funds for the hospital. I think the Earl was very impressed with this fact and made a witty remark which sadly I cannot now remember!

Anyway, well done Lolo – he has no plans to quit as far as I know. In the picture below, Lolo is on the right and the Earl on the left. (And, incidentally, the woman in white uniform in the background is Mary, an Occupational Therapist at the hospital, who ran her first marathon this year also on behalf of the RHN)
