THE WEEKS THAT WERE MY LIFE ( Aug 10 - Aug 20)

It's been a couple of weeks since I've updated this blog. I hope you guys are doing ok and well, after the flooding that we experienced lately, I do hope everything is well and good on your end. The past couple of weeks had been a roller coaster of events but all good learning experiences. Here's a round up of what's been. :)

TAGAYTAY WITH PANGGA

Ground Zero.

Finally had the time to go to my favorite chill out place. Spent a couple of days hanging out watching videos, eating and just relaxing with my pangga. I think everyone should be entitled to this kind of reset at least once a month. One of the things I really want to improve this year is my ability to step back and just de-stress. I am finally learning to appreciate rest. :)

We got there Friday noon and had lunch at Shakey's Robinsons. Then we went to the grocery to buy some stuffs. We stayed at Malaco hotel, got a discount from Metrodeal and well, it turned out better than I expected. The hotel was quite new and the people there were nice. Although the rooms are just basic, no fridge and no table, it was clean and big enough to be comfortable. I will go there again soon just because the wi-fi was extremely fast. :)

WILZ BACK IN MANILA

After a couple of years, Wilz is back from Abu Dhabi! Although as of this writing he had already went back hehe. We fetched his girlfriend from the airport and well, ended up being the chauffeur for the rest of the trip back home while the two love-birds caught up with being sweet.

Anyway, the planned Hangover was still not yet put into action, so, I guess next time right? :)

ISTIN'S 60,000KM MAINTENANCE

Ouch.

I wasn't ready for Istin's maintenance but we were going to Tagaytay and I really wanted to make sure everything was going to be smooth so I ended up paying 11.2k to Honda for the 60km check.

The check was worth it as our trip went smooth and Istin was doing great again. :)

TRYING OUT NEW FOOD

We were gonna have lunch one time and went to eat at Bonchon when I got really hungry and couldn't wait to be served. There was this Gavino, a japanese donut store, and I decided to try it out. It was, well, weird. Its texture is more Butchi than donut haha although the chocolates did taste good.

A new stall opened in the Loop and it was serving brewed coffee. The coffee beans, as the owner told me was grown in Silang, Cavite and they were promoting locally grown beans to the market. Honestly, I didn't expect the coffee to taste great but it did. Got me hooked and now this is an almost daily routine. :)

FRIDATE WITH PANGGA

Friday was Dakasi day with my pangga. We bought this discount from Metrodeal and claimed it at Robinson's Otis. As always, Dakasi is by far the best milk tea I've encountered. My pangga was wearing the Jack Daniels shirt I bought her and she never looked sexier in that black top. Then we had dinner at one of my favorite resto's, The Old Spaghetti House. It was one of those days when life was just awesome. :)

MEETUP WITH PANGGA's FRIENDS

Come Together.

It's been a while since we've hang with my pangga's college friends and the saturdate was a get together long over-due. Going to Trinoma on a Saturday was hell and traffic was the devil incarnate. I think government officials who are accountable for the metro's traffic situation should be punished by being required to commute or drive during these times.

We got to the venue just in time for dinner. We ate at Gilligan's and it was fun catching up with everyone. Then we grabbed a couple of San Mig Lights before calling it a night.

Can't wait to hang with them again soon.

NEW LEBRON XI's BASKETBALL SHOES

Ok, my old Nike Flight Club retired a couple of weeks back and I didn't have any shoes for basketball so when Wilz invited me to go to Cartimar I said an empathic yes. It was a rainy afternoon and I was worried about getting struck in traffic so I decided to just commute. Marvs, Avy and Cheits also came with us. There were lots of good shoes but I went for Lebron XI's. It looked good and when I used it during one of the games we played, it was awesome. Looking forward to playing more games with the shoes.

FLOODING THE METRO

The Metro Inundated with Water.

A year ago around the same time, the monsoons dump almost 3 months worth of rain in 3 days. This caused massive flooding to the metro and nearby provinces. This time, the monsoons kind of celebrated that moment with another rain dumping that caused more flooding than before. The metro was flooded for almost 3 days and most were really high up to the chest.

I'm not sure how the government will really solve this but maybe I'll try to come up with a suggestion. :)

So there, the world has been crazy but such is life. We'll just have to keep embracing the challenge and stepping up.

A STEP QUICKER (The Weeks That Were My Life June 24 to July 28)

It's been quite a while since I wrote an entry. I hope everything is well on your end. There's been a lot of things that has happened since my last blog entry but I'll try to write as much as I can remember.

Music Making

I finally had the time to buckle up and do a draft of an office mates song. I missed doing this. Setting up the software and the hardware for recording. Creating the vocal guide and the guitar guide. Haha, man, it's been a while but it still feels exciting to do these stuffs. I'm still having some problems with the latency though. And I can't seem to find the settings for per channel hardware mapping. The differences in the hardware specs like sampling rate and buffering are causing issues in the recording process. Anyway, I'll try to test again when I get the time.

I missed this.

New Food, Old Officemate and a Birthday Treat

Chili-Billy opened in the Loop and we tried their grilled cheese sandwich and the peanut butter-banana sandwich. It was awesome. :) Although a bit pricey, it did taste good and the grilled cheese had a tinge of spicy jalapeno to add a little twist to an old-time favorite. The peanut butter banana was also awesome. :)

Mela and I also had the chance to hangout with Grace on a rainy Friday night. We ate dinner at Mister Kebab and played some arcade games. It was fun hanging out with her and I am looking forward to seeing her again soon. :) Oh, and I scored 350 on the basketball game haha... I just got tired so I stopped shooting. I could 've reach 800. :)

Our boss celebrated her birthday at Causeway Timog with officemates and other people. The food was good and everyone enjoyed the nice lunch. I'm not sure if I sent her greetings but I wish her more blessings, health and a wonderful year ahead.

Despicable Me 2

The first movie was very memorable for me. The time I was watching it was the time I first got to talk with my pangga. :) This time, for part 2, it was nice having a movie date with her and my family. The movie was awesome just like the first one. Had a lot of LOL moment and the crowd in the cinema were obviously entertained. I'd love to see it again but maybe when the DVD comes out. :)

Basketball and My Shoes Disintegrating

Played basketball at Makati with some officemates. It was great because we won haha. After a couple of games my right shoe kind of disintegrated. :) So, that means buying a new weapon! Yeah! But, not in budget yet so we'll see hehe.

Astrid gets Android 4.3

After a few weeks of waiting the 4.3 upgrade for Nexus 7 tablets is here! I just upgraded Astrid and one of the notable improvements I noticed (because I've been ranting about it since gingerbread) was adding a word to the custom dictionary. Before, it took 3 clicks just because there was an unnecessary step. Now, it's just two. Thank you Google. I noticed that sometimes the back button doesn't work and it gets stuck in the apps list. I'll monitor and see if it's a bug.

The Week That Was My Life (June 17 to 23)

It's been a rainy rainy month of June. And that, in Metro Manila, translates to flood. Really inconvenient ones. When I was a kid I remember how happy I used to get when it rained. We'd go out running and we'd be all hyped to play under the rain. But now, a little rain and my mind goes "Oh shit...".

Speaking of "Oh shit" moments, it's finally over! Yes. The NBA finals and the 2013 season is finally over. Man, Miami gave its fans one heck of a roller coaster ride. I think now they can say they are one of the greatest teams for winning back to back. Congratulations to Coach Spo, LBJ, D-Wade and the rest of the hardworking players of the Miami Heat. I know you guys have a lot of haters but still, I think the team as a whole deserves all the respect. I'll enjoy the rest of the months till the NBA starts again on October.

First Time Istin Broke Down

Friday night, I was driving my pangga home when Istin just broke down and wouldn't start. We were exiting Bocaue and luckily it wasn't raining and there weren't many cars then. I approached the toll security and asked for help. Highway patrol comes in about 10 mins and then calls for towing. AAP towing service was there in about 15 mins and moved Istin into Sta Maria where we charged the battery. Luckily it solved the problem. Istin started and I was on my way back to Manila in less than an hour. It was the first time I experienced something like that.

It was good to learn a couple of things though:

Emergency Numbers

You must always have emergency numbers of towing services, roadside assistance and highway emergency. The AAP (Automobile Assoc Phil) guys were courteous and didn't add to the stress. They even waited for a while coz I had to withdraw money to pay them. As of June 2013 towing to nearest exit is php1.6k and battery series is php1k.

Signs of Battery Failure

You can notice if the battery is failing when you start your car and the ignition process seems to fall short and the lights in your gauges (at least in Istin's) dimmers before actually starting. This means the ignition process is not getting enough charge. If you notice this, go and have your battery checked immediately. Car batteries normally have a lifetime of 2-3 years. So 2 or 2.5 years would be a good time to check.

Pandacan, Sta Ana and Paco Smells of Gas

Last night, my mom woke me up because she noticed a really pungent odor coming from everywhere in the house. She taught it was our LPG so she went down and closed the valve. I went out to check and the whole compound just smelled gas. It was really nauseating. I went on twitter to check what was happening and it seemed that the smell was not only within our place but the whole of Pandacan, Paco and Sta Ana. The smell even reached San Andres and U.N. Avenue.

Anyway, it was really nasty, my head hurt and I felt like vomiting. After the authorities investigated, they found out that a leak was happening in a Sta Ana Bunker Oil storage facility. Apparently oil was leaking to the Pasig River and the stench reached the different districts. It was in the news this evening.

There. It was a really nice week even though it was tiring at work. Anyway, it's Monday tomorrow. People who work in Manila most probably don't have work since it is Manila Day.

The Weeks That Were My Life (June 1 to 16)

I can't believe it's already June. Almost half of the year had passed like a blur. I wish I could play it in slow motion just to appreciate all the good things and good people that have been with me thru all those times.

I hope you guys are doing great in spite of the heavy rains and the flash floods.

Always bring umbrella and emergency food in your bags just in case you get stranded during commute or drive.

Here's what I've been up to the past few weeks.

It's been, what? Six months since I've seen Ivy? A lot has changed (Including her getting bigger :P hehe..) Anyway, Pao also joined us and it was really nice hanging out with them. We talked about Ivy's life and work in Miami, Pao's new path in life and my busy (but lovefull, if there is such a word) life. We watched a couple of episodes of The Big Bang Theory Season 6. Oh, and I let Ivy watch Outsourced. Which is also way funny. I do hope I get to spend time again with those two before Ivy leaves again for Miami. See you guys soon!

I don't go out much with my officemates but when it's something this big, I go out of my way. (Read: Braving the monsoons and flash floods!) Anyway, it was nice catching up with Dan, Ghe, Volt, Tasha, Jericho and Josef. Congratulations Josef for a really nice place. Will probably be the HQ of our project, right? :)

I was not aware that Now You See Me was already being shown in theaters until my pangga told me it's almost end of its showing period. We made a quick decision to see it last Friday with my mom. :)

I enjoyed the movie but they found it too, er, complicated. I think the movie should have been two parts so that they had the time to explain everything in more details. I guess it was too fast for most of the people with everyone asking so many why's. Either way it was a fun movie with cool ideas.

A couple of weeks ago we went to Subic with the CRM team. It was the first time we joined them on a trip like this since ever hehe but wow, it was a really nice experience. It was the first time we got to see each person outside of work handling real life issues such as deciding what to eat, what alcoholic beverage to drink and other real world stuffs.

Solving Real World Difficulties with Techniques from Movies and Other Stuffs

It's been a while since I wrote a personal blog. I hope you guys are doing great. Summer's here and I think the heat is getting on everyone's nerves.

Just sharing the things that I've experienced the past few weeks. :)

Losing My Mobile Phone and Getting it Back "Taken 2" Style

I almost lost you. :(

Last night, I accidentally dropped and lost my phone in the basement parking of our office. I only noticed it when I got home. I tried calling it and it still rang. So we decided to go back to the office and check if we can still find it maybe lying there on the ground where I usually park. When I got there, there were some workers in an adjacent room hanging out and talking. Before I approached them, I asked my girlfriend to call my phone again. I approached the workers and asked if they found any cellphone within the vicinity because I lost it a couple of hours ago. They all said that they didn't see one. I went to see the guard on duty to ask him if someone had returned a phone. Unfortunately, he said no. So I went back to where we parked. My girlfriend tried to call my phone again. This time someone answered the call. I tried talking but on the other line was just background noise. I can hear some people talking and some rustling. Then I realized that the phone might be in the room where the workers were talking.

This is where it gets awesome. Thinking quick, I remember the style that Liam Neeson did to figure out where he was taken in "Taken 2". Use sound to locate something. I slowly approached my car, opened the door and honked my horns. To my amusement, I hear the horn at the background. I did it again and slowly turned to the workers in the room. I told them that I can hear the horn in the background and I was sure it's within vicinity. I asked them to please just return it if they indeed have it. Maybe they got scared or something. I was sure it was with them so I insisted they give it back. They reluctantly called for the guy at the back to bring out the phone.

I was so amazed at how I figured out a way to locate my phone that I didn't get angry at them.

This is one great example of a technique used in a movie being very useful in real life. :)

Up North and Personal

Ilocos!

Had an awesome 4 nights - 3 days trip up north going to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte thru Vigan, Batac and other towns along the way. This was one trip that I really really enjoyed. Ricjoe Tours, the tour provider was nice and accommodating. Ms Jovie even brought her camera to be the tours official photographer.

The van we used was comfortable and nice. The drive was fast but you still feel safe. One thing for sure is that we'll definitely use Ricjoe Tours services for another trip in the future.

It was also fun to be with my Pangga, Cez, Eugene, Joyce, Echen and everyone. I miss them already and I do hope we can have a vacation again soon.

Audio Production Things are Up and About

One of the challenges I faced when I replaced Summer with Winter was probably getting all the audio production software and hardware to work again. I thought moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8 was gonna be a nightmare but luckily, everything is now running as expected. Oh, and I am on Audition CS6. Woot-woot!

Muslim Wedding of a Colleague

I also got to be part of a Muslim Wedding last Feb. My officemate got married in Zamboanga and it was a really nice wedding. Although we were not able to attend the actual traditional wedding as it was closed doors, we still enjoyed being part of the ceremony afterwards.

And we got to eat Greenwich Cheeze pizza for 2 consecutive nights. :)

Just blogging about the past few weeks I wasn't able to write about before. :) It's been a busy past few weeks with so many things to do at work and so many personal stuffs to attend to. No wonder I get hungry a lot haha. Anyway, the team and I went out for a late lunch a couple of weeks back. SM Megamall was its usual self even though I heard that there's been an extension for building A and additional parking. Parking was still soooo time consuming. When we got there we decided to eat at Max's. It went well aside from the minor, er... ok, major spilling that drenched Sarah's outfit. She took a bath of iced tea :( as in the full glass spilled on her.

We also got to visit St Francis Square just across Megamall. It's a nice place to shop. Lots of good stuffs at very low prices.

Manila should be really proud. An hour of not so heavy rain changes the streets to a lake. The worst thing is, this picture was taken in front of SM Manila just behind Manila City Hall. What is the local government doing? Getting richer by taking taxes from the working class? Make the taxes you impose on us be worth something good. Fix things.

I've been craving for Roti Kanai and Nasi Goreng Nenas the past few months and finally I had the chance to eat some last Friday. It was a nice dinner date with my Pangga. :) We ate at Banana Leaf Robinsons Ermita.

There. It may seem that I was eating so much the past few weeks but actually these were just few of the instances I got to quench my craving for nice food. Normally it's just canteen food and MIP. Haha..

Who I Am and Why Tomorrow Should Be Yesterday.

Push and Shove.

I think most of what's been bothering me the past few months has been this tiring and unnecessary urge to prove myself to everyone. The unwavering feeling of guilt whenever I am not studying or practicing or planning or thinking or simulating scenarios in my head. It's been three long years since I moved to my current work and it's been 3 solid years of push and shove.

I was having dinner with my mom and my girlfriend a couple of days ago and it was good to talk to them and realize how unnecessary the pressure was. In fact, the only enemy I found was myself.

It's usual for someone to get lost in all this stress and feel infinitely tired. For someone to suddenly panic and just go on auto-pilot pushing yourself over the limit. I was pretty much on stable ground way before. When everything was in perspective. I need to go back to that state. If you're pretty much on the same boat as I was a few days before I had the talk with my mom and girlfriend, here's a nice list of what you should consider:

1. Every journey has an inevitable beginning and an inevitable end. It may be good or bad. The idea is to always make sure the in-between will either be of learning or of essence.

2. Greatness or Success is not an outcome. It is a by-product of our skill, effort and opportunity.

3. There will be people better than you in certain aspects of life. You can push yourself to be great but never push yourself to extinction. Appreciate your weakness. It is a sign of humanity.

There. It's not much but I guess somehow it will give you an idea.

Boys Night Out and Other Stuffs

“Japanese Bars, Old Arroyo Sticker and Trip to Cavite”

Some days you just put everything up in the air, pull up a chair and enjoy as they come tumbling down.

Bones, Marvs and I went for a boys night out last Friday. We went around looking for “Patay-Sindi” but we ended up in a japanese bar. It was still fun though, we got to round robin with the girls there chatting and talking about everything. Some things we learned:

500 pesos for half a glass of Tanduay is not worth it. (Hilo ka pa din though. Actually the 500 pesos was 2hrs of bottomless everything.. Half glass of Tanduay lang nainom ko haha..)

You can’t sit down with a bar girl and tell her “Ahh, entertainer ka pala eh, sige nga mag magic ka”. (Marv’s please lang, wag mo na ulitin to.. haha..)

The band played for a friend in Cavite. It was helluva fun. :) The trip was the first time that Pau and I convoyed to a venue. We did a pit stop at Tuding’s Carmona. :)

We even did a quick stunt when Gab went out of the passenger window to remove something on Istin’s windshield… while I was driving at 40kph! Haha..

And then I saw this really OLD campaign sticker for Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo campaigning as senator. At the side of our office fridge! :) Talk about ancient… Hehe…

The Weeks That Were My Life (February 6 to 28)

Love is in the air. Or should I say on the land. :)

It’s been a year since I lost Eleanor(Tisay). Back then everything was falling apart. Now after almost a year of hard work and sacrifice I am really happy to have Faustine by my side.

With all the recent blessings, there’s only one more thing that I need to make my life back to how it was before,should i say so much better. I am working on this right now. It’s starting to become a long shot but I am hopeful and I believe in my strength. I will be complete soon.

Gimik Night!

Friday was a really fun day. We watched Tyrene’s band play again and then we ate at Lugaw Republic near Timog. The lugaw was yummy. It’s a bit pricy @ 130 (basic lugaw with quail egg and goto) but it was worth it. Also the tokwa’t baboy was good. I love to eat there again. After that we went home and watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. It was disappointing though coz the tv kept on turning off. I don’t know why but I remember when it was almost a year old it had the same dysfunction. We had it repaired and JVC actually replaced the power module and then it was ok. Now it’s doing the turning off again. I think JVC hardwired the tv to be broken. That is creepy scary. Anyway, If anyone from JVC ever reads this, please explain why this is happening.

Sunday @ Glorietta

We went out to see Miss You Like Crazy at Glorietta. We also played at Timezone hehe.. I am not into arcades and games but I had fun shooting basketball with them. I was with Redg, my mom, Avy, Cheits, Sashi and Bingo. My Ate Rash and her family was there also. We had dinner at Sbarro and had small talks. It was a helluva fun. :)Thanks guys I enjoyed it a lot and I look forward to hanging out with you again.

Gig Crashers, Baked Scallops and My Still Missing 1000 Peso bill.

A Friend’s Gig

I really enjoyed watching a friend’s gig last Friday. They played 3 sets lots of nice songs and fun moments. Avy even sang Thousand Miles haha! Then there was this couple who gig crashed! That was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in years. I’m sorry but you don’t gig crash when you can’t even play and sing well. If it was a practical joke you really got me. Ok ok, I’m going too Simon Cowell on them but c’mmon, please wag ka ng magtaray kung di ka naman maganda at di naman magnda boses mo? Ang sakit sa ulo eh… Argh… Pasensya na.. I had to get that off my chest. Anyway, Tyrene and her band was loads of fun I would like see them again. :) Oh and Avy should sing again also! Yey!

Avatar on IMAX SM MOA! (Then dampa after!)

Saw Avatar on IMAX but we were too close to the screen I got so dizzy 20 mins into the movie. After that I had to take off the 3D glasses and just languish on feeling nauseated for the next 2 hours and 30 mins. Im sure if we had better seats I would have appreciated it. Anyway, it was a nice experience all in all. After that we went to eat at seaside dampa and that one i really enjoyed! Was craving for baked tahong but there wasn’t any available so we ordered baked scallops which were equally yummy! That’s how I should eat every weekend because I don’t eat much on weekdays.

Redg’s Birthday Celebration

Redg celebrated her birthday in Ritchmonde Hotel and it was super fun. We played charades until 7am! Haha.. Happy birthday Redg. More blessings for you and your family! And more time with me also. :)

Crazy Other Weeks!

The past past weeks were totally awesome also. Had so much fun going to Carmona with the gang. We crashed my lola’s house. Bones cooked insanely delicious bulalo and calamares. We had videoke, tequila and vodka. Also had an opportunity to taste the ice creams in Dezaato Pan. It was also insanely delicious i had the one that tasted like my favoritre ferrero chocolates. Then the band shoot some videos for the documentary. Over all, it was really awesome fun! I’m looking forward to more of these! ;)

I’m still looking for my 1000 peso bill. I swear it was in my wallet. Now it’s not there. :( Argghh.. If you see him,tell him I miss him and he shouldn’t worry because im sure he’ll be going somewhere as soon as he goes back to me. Haha.

“Dead Line”

Ok, I know everything’s been moving so fast recently my heart is a blur, my mind is a blur even my keen sense of logic is blurry. Work is so far gone “crazy chaotic” would sound sweet to describe it. The year is almost done, 2009 is a blink.

I am not sure if 2010 would be different or maybe I should just start calling it 2009+1.

Anyway, chaos aside, this year has also been an eye opener for me. Lots of things that I learned and discovered. I am so thankful for that. And I am also thankful for being blessed with the curiosity and patience to face challenges in life.

I’ve not been writing things about my life because I’ve been pretty busy with work and stuffs but I’d like to take this chance to say some things to some people.

To ,

This year is about to end. I believe it is trying to teach you humility and gratitude. Please learn it before it is too late. Before an opportunity that could change your life goes down the drain just because you are too proud and too self-centered to handle it properly.

To ,

Words can only get you as far as the one who hears it or reads it. Maybe to actually get it across you should put it into action? Also, I think you know that we are all the same. We are all just trying to be different.

To ,

You are destined for greatness. Can you not feel it? You have the choice to put your act together, stand on the stage that we call life and force the change you have been dreaming of. Yes, your mechanisms are out of synch. Tell it to move in unison. Better yet, your mechanisms should remember that you do not really exist without them. There is no you. Only a collection of brave souls bound together by friendship and trust to represent an idea and to make it tangible. This tangible idea is you.

I am tired. Maybe rest is not such a bad idea.

The Week That Was My Life (September 7 to October 11)

Welcome Broken Beautiful.

I guess I owe my blog and my readers (I’m assuming there is someone out there other than me who’s reading my blogs haha.) a really big sorry. It’s been a hell of a month. Haven’t been writing much because I’ve been doing so much work and the weather’s been pretty bipolar to say the least.

Flood: Too much unnecessary water.

Well, first off, my birthday passed by, literally. I wasn’t able to celebrate because Typhoon Ondoy was busy flooding the metro. I still owe you guys baked mac (my mom’s specialty), some booze and a little celebration. Actually the baked mac was replaced by sopas on the Saturday that Ondoy was pummeling the city. That’s how adaptable my mom is. :)

Some personal pics I can share related to the typhoon:

Knee high water got in our house Saturday night. Luckily my cousins were with us and we were able to get the ref on the higher part of the stairs. Cheits and Abby were on the road for 12 hours! Whew! Remember to place a flashlight and a first aid kit in your car.

Monday after Ondoy, on my way to work I was able to snap a couple of images of the recto underpass in front of Isetann Recto. It was filled to the brim. A crazy guy was also dancing and swimming in the flood water. Pardon the images.

My workmates volunteered to help in the relief operations for victims of Ondoy. I was not able to join them as I had to finish some work. Sorry guys.

Family.

This is one of the rare moments that I get to spend time with my family. I’m sure they notice that I am not able to attend most family gatherings. Sorry, most of the time my weekends are still occupied with so many things that I want to do and finish.

But I realize i am pushing too hard, even pulling everything i need with me along. I will try to let go of these things and be part of this family.

My Tita Bilin and her husband treat us to a nice overnight stay and dinner in batangas. We also celebrated her daughters birthday there though I was unable to attend because i had to go back to manila to work.

My lola also celebrated her 75th birthday! It was really fun. We had a small program for her and lots of food and booze. Lots of photo ops hehe. I ran a little late travelling from work, quezon ave to laguna but at least i was still able to be participate in the dance.

ABS-CBN Studio Tours

After our Intro to Statistics training, we had the opportunity to do the ABS-CBN studio tours. It was ok. Luckily we didn’t pay for that because there wasn’t really much interesting stuffs to see. Probably because there were no program shoots. Anyway, it was a nice way to end the gruesome 3 day brain crushing stat lessons. Photo ops, small talks, lots of smiles and new friends.

Birthdays

My pamangkin Naiara Celebrated her first birthday in Shakey’s Magallanes. It was fun to see everyone specially my Tito Mer, Tito Boy and Ate Det surprising everyone with their presence. Everyone thought they would arrive that evening.

Our dear Rizza also celebrated her birthday last September. It was great she was able to celebrate it with us before going for her maternity leave. We miss you Rizza, please take care and goodluck with your pregnancy!

It’s been a really long time since my last update. I am really happy with this one. I hope people who read my blog will find the fire again to follow my life.

Still learning things I ought to know by now. I will glad to share things with you.

Catching Up

3 weeks. That is pretty long. I will try to remember as much stuff as I can.

Went out and saw GI Joe with Marvs and Bones. Some friends also spent the night in our house and watched Big Bang Theory. Most of the weeks were so-so but here are some highlights.

Acel's Despedida

One of the Most Anticipated Parties of the Year

My sisters birthday has always been the craziest party we can always participate in. The band played 7 songs and partied all night until 6am with her friends and officemates. It was a night of booze (hurrah 8 shots!), karaoke and fun people. We met some great new friends and also enjoyed the photo ops. I am looking forward to next year this early haha..

There. I will do my best to get into misadventures this week so i wil have lots of things to share here.

A Weird Day Gone Wrong

It's been one hell of a day. I thought the week was gonna be uninteresting. It turned out, this last day was "fool" of surprises. Have you ever imagined how a boxing match can be won by the guy who's actually knocked out? Have you ever thought that traveling from Taft Ave, Manila to Moonwalk, Las Pinas is shorter than traveling from Moonwalk to Soldiers IV?

Here is a rundown of how the week was...

Archaic Spelling of "Complete"

Saw this really weird spelling of the word complete in one of the workbooks in the office. I thought it was incorrectly spelled. It turned out that this is actually an archaic (e.g. old, antiquated) spelling for complete. My question was, why? Hmm..

Picture with Dimples!

Okay, I know this is not usually what I write about but hey, its still something interesting right? :) Saw Dimples in the Only You Bazaar in the PDA concert hall. She was pretty. :)

Drum Recording in the Studio!

The band went on the road to record the drum parts for GM, TBD and Daybreak but we we're able to record GM and Daybreak as the studio's hardware and software encountered weird errors. (The PC actually rebooted in the middle of the recording and then went haywire after that.)

The unforgettable part was the 45 min trike ride to look for another studio which was all for naught. We ended up going home around 7pm. Haha...

It was a really long Sunday. Anyway, it was nice to bond with the guys again and go on the road with my Eish playing Windows Weekly Podcast with Paul Thurrot and Leo Laport.

"Keep Things In Perspective"

It's been a hell of a week. Our commitment to finish the album still holds. Work work work! Anyway, please do anticipate the album by next month. It'll be worth the wait. :)

Electronics and Communications Engineer

Tried to fix the drum kit with the guys. We were able to fix the touch sensitive pads but the foot pedal is still not working. Might need more "intelligence" for that haha. We need to fix it though for the upcoming birthday party.. :)

We Will Save An Angel

There's something brewing that needs our attention. You'll probably read more about this as the days come along. We'll need support so please do help us when you can. I will write about the details as soon as we've finalized the plans.

New Old Spaghetti House in SM Manila

Mitch and I tried the new Old Spaghetti House in SM Manila. I was gonna order my usual beef salpicao but opted to try new stuffs. I missed my beef salpicao.. hehe.. but the food was alright. Mas masarap nga lang ang beef salpicao hehe..

That's basically it. I wish to have more adventures (or misadventures) this week. You guys have a nice week also.

Had a great time with Mitch and her friends. We went out to eat at Sentro (Sinigang na Corned Beef! Spicy Galunggong!), ate some KopiRoti for the first time and watched "The Proposal". It was a really nice movie. I want to see it again. :)

There. It was a really fun week except for the fact that we lost one of the most important persons in the country.

Hello! I am a bit excited with the new blog. Although the past week was not really that exciting, I was thinking of doing some minor additions in my post. I will try to squeeze in some "trivia" in the things that I write about. Well, that is if I find trivia for the topics haha.

The Great Flood.. Okay, I'm Kidding..

Got a rude welcome for the week when thunderstorms in Manila flooded almost all the streets I need to walk on to get to work. Talk about Monday morning rituals. The particular photo above I took in Taft Ave while frantically skipping flood water. I was beginning to think if someone will come asking for pairs of animals to store in an ark.

I went out with the guys (Pao1, Marvs and Glenn) last Friday night. Yeah, I know that was the height of the typhoon but at least Ermita wasn't that crowded haha.

We talked about love, life and why's and also some adult only stuffs hahaha. T'was funny though, Glenn broke the chairs leg. It was really fun. Then we had breakfast at McDo. Next time I will summon up the courage to talk with Gemie. Haha.. :)

This afternoon when my mom was about to get some clothes from the cabinet she saw the cat giving birth to a kitten. I thought she saw something evil when she started screaming. I ran to her and calmed her down. The kitty was cute. I think she's thinking of adapting it.

The Half-Blood Prince: Half-Blood, Half-Prince

My mom,sis, sis' friend and cousin went out to see Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince in G4, Makati. I enjoyed the movie. I didn't read the book though. Most of those who read said the movie kind of dragged. Anyway, it was nice to spend time with them again. Next movie?

I hope next week would be more interesting. Less rain and more supernatural and extraordinary things. :)

Tried this toast and hot chocolate combo from Ya Kun, Robinson's Place, Ermita. It was great 'cept that it costs a lot haha. But I will eat there again when I have time. The soft boiled egg was yummy!

Chesse! Yes!

I bought pichi-pichi last Friday and kind of noticed this. Haha.. funny as hell. :) But the pichi-pichi was heaven. More than makes up for the blunder... eat eat eat!

Panic Button

I had a great time writing our new song last Saturday night. It was really awesome and it felt great writing and singing the draft. I can see that it'll be fast and furious and angry haha. Can't wait to jam this with the guys! We'll try to polish an acoustic version we can upload to myspace. :)

There. It was a very boring week. My vertigo is not affecting me that much anymore. The doctor advised me to just deal with the dizziness and force myself to focus when my world spins. The doctor sounded like Dr. Phil on steroids haha.

Thought I'd add a title for my weekly blog! Ain't that cool? Haha! Anyway, the week was terribly boring and annoying. Being dizzy with vertigo for a week is not the kind of state you'd want to be in.

Tried to Kill Vertigo with Gram's Diner Salad!

Woke up Monday morning with a really terrible dizziness. It was the first time I felt something like that. I thought I wouldn't be able to go to work but I had to coz we had like a ton of things to do. I felt it was vertigo. I tried to alleviate it with eating good food. Apparently, it doesn't have much effect on the vertigo. Only on my budget...

Kozui's @ Tomas Morato

I met with Tin last Wednesday at Kozui's. It was my first time to be there and I really liked the salad I ordered. It's also very cozy. There were lots of people there meeting and studying. I guess it's just how things are now. We study were we eat unlike before when our library didn't let us bring food inside. Ha, I know, it's a lame analogy. But what the heck..

Happy Birthday Mom and Abby!!!

Saturday and Sunday was my Mom and Abby's birthday. They had lots of food and visitors! It was videoke from 10am to 10pm haha.. It was fun though. :)

Before the Week Closes, Unwind...

Bones, Marvs and I went to out to get some coffee and talk over some stuffs. It was nice hanging out with my two cousins again. We were out til 6am. Haha.. talk about pamorningan. Oh, and we ate breakfast at McDo Taft, Pedro Gil. It was nice to eat McDo Breakfast again. :)

Well, that's how my week was. I could have inserted the word vertigo every sentence but I think it's been obvious that this vertigo is really making things hard for me.

I wish tomorrow I will not be as dizzy as the previous week.

The Changing of The Shoes

In 1996, there was one player that totally changed the way I played. Allen Iverson. I have always admired him for his skills and his ability to score. The way he revolutionized the cross-over. He was dazzling and brilliant on the court.

I was in college then, barely getting by and I didn't really have enough money to buy me AI's first shoe. The Question.

Then in his 10th year playing in the NBA, Reebok re-issued all his shoes. I was already working then and had enough money to actually buy one. At first I was hesitant, but then my girlfriend back then told me that it was my dream to wear that shoe. Even if it was 10 years ago, that dream was still hanging inside my head. It was like destiny had let us cross paths, The Question and I, to fulfill that dream.

For three years I played basketball using the shoe that inspired me to play. I was AI on those shoes. We battled out on every imaginable situation on the court. Got injured, played awesome, played bad, got roughed up, roughed up somebody and almost everything else you can imagine.

This quote from AI fused with my blood. It transcends not just basketball but everything I do. In Life,Love and Everything else, I have given my heart.

But like warriors that get old, shoes' they come and go. I will always remember The Question. It gave me the answers I needed then.

Now comes change.

My new weapon of choice is a Nike Zoom FlightClub. Worn by the San Antonio Spurs' very talented guard, Tony Parker. I must say that it doesn't have much zen now. There is no more drama. I am older and wiser now. The shoe has a no-nonsense, wear me and play hard attitude. When I first tried it on, I felt like Cinderella fitting her glass shoe. It felt like we already knew each other. I was one with the shoe.

I played our Sunday basketball with my new shoes and It felt great. It was giving me the functions I needed. Spin, break, switch, jump, run, cross-over and twist, the shoe made everything feel natural.

I am saying goodbye to The Question just because he had asked to let him rest. Goodbye.

I am saying hello to FlightClub because he passed the baptism of fire. Hello. Welcome to the war.

Anyway, just got back in from our usual Sunday evening basketball. My body is aching a little but my head and heart is so anxious to write the blog. It's been one heck of a week so this is gonna be a long blog! I do hope it tickles your fanny.. er.. fancy that is.

Judge Dredd! Club Dread! Er.. Club Dredd!

Finally! The day that we've been waiting for came. It was our first gig in a couple of months (Not counting the reunion one as it was really not a gig). Anyway, you can read a lot more about this in my bands blog!

The Day After...

We tried to watch Transformers 2 but the general public didn't let us. We tried and we failed. My mom asked me to get her a book she needs for her masters. We tried at Power Books and we succeeded! Hurrah!

I was having breakfast when my mom told me that a cd arrived thru the post. I was totally surprised to get the new Ubuntu that quick. I requested about 3 weeks ago and Canonical usually sends it in 2-3 months. I love those guys. This is the second time I got my request faster than they promised hehe. Please do support open source by freely distributing copies. I can write you one if you want. :)

Ms Jay Beltran's Despedida

One of our beloved friends in ABS-CBN Global is moving on to another company. The despedida was very heartfelt. Even though I've known and worked with her for only five months, i learned a lot from her. Good luck to your future endeavors Ms Jay!

Oh, and the Queens of Bluriness, you guys are... well.. blurry.. hihi.. Hello Anna and Kat. (They are beautiful, they just don't like paparazzi..)

Weekend Love

I was looking to buy a new pair of basketball shoes with Bones last Saturday. We ate at my usual weekend resto, Old Spaghetti House (I love their Beef Salpicao) and we saw this really nice beautiful and intelligent looking girl eating a ton of spaghetti. (Just kidding, t'was a kilo haha..) Anyway, we secretly told the waiter to give them a chocolate truffle cake for dessert. At first they were shy but the waiter told us later that they did appreciate the effort and they ate the cake.

Awww... wish to see and meet you in the nearest future... not the waiter. The intelligent looking cutie..

My Hannah Is Running Android!!!

Whew! It was a very eventful week really haha. I had lots of fun and although it was tiring, It was really very interesting and full of learnings.

The week was band practice, SM Annex, Peri-peri and more band practice! Haha, we were preparing for our Club Dredd gig on Tuesday. You can read more about it here in my bands multiply page, Snowmagnet Multiply.

Irony Impaired

As usual, I am irony impaired haha. Was craving for chocolate and I ran into this in Mini-stop. I guess it evens things out. :P

First Time In SM Annex

This is the first time I was able to see SM Annex, North EDSA. It was a really nice place lots of shops and very spacious walk ways. The design though is a bit confusing and inefficient. We need to walk completely around to the other side to continue going up the floors. It was rather not amusing. I don't know if they designed it like that so you need to walk by all those shops before you can ride the next escalator up.

Peri-Peri Yummy!

My officemates and I ate at Peri-Peri SM Annex. It was really good! I loved their hot and spicy charcoal chicken. I had chicken and pita and salsa. I must say, its one of my favorites right now. :)

The guys are burning so much calories preparing for the Club Dredd Gig. We've been too busy lately with personal stuffs that we can hardly set a sked for practice. So pushed that Friday and Saturday be band practice day. It's always fun being with people who share with you the same passion for living, loving and seeing the world in a different perspective. I wish to spend more time with the band in the upcoming months. Let's finish GM! Yey!

My Pamangkin and My Mom

My sister visited this afternoon. She was with her husband and daughter. That's my mom in the picture and Yara, my pamangkin. :) It was fun goofing and playing around with her. Its nice she was in a good mood and didn't cry haha. Maybe next time I can share a picture of my other pamangkin, Anton, when they visit us.

Take it apart and be sure to put it back together working...

During practice I almost blew my top because my guitar fx footswitch was not working properly. I had to replace the small switch underneath the stomp mechanism and solder it on to the board. Pays to know your electronics (imagine wide grin..).

That's about it. This week is gonna be busy as hell with so many things happening at work and the bands upcoming gig. I'm pretty sure there will be more to share to you guys. :)
