Gaining weight :)

All puppies are doing very well and gaining weight very quickly. They offer boundless love, granted unconditionally to everybody. We spent absolutely amazing weekend with them . Lots of people have given feedback that if they are nervous it is best to open my site and see what these lovely animals are doing  so trie it out.

How to describe a bulldog?

People often ask us what the proper temperament is like with Bulldogs. The only way I can really describe it is "a big baby". If you are a low key person, and want a companion that is always with you, don't mind a little snoring, and an occasional burst of energy. English Bulldogs are one of the sweetest dogs you will ever own. And to caution you, English Bulldogs are addictive no one can own just one! English Bulldogs require a lot of attention and if you are not prepared to give it don't buy English Bulldogs! If you expect a dog to be left alone the majority of the time please reconsider your decision to own a dog. If you work all day and cannot have someone come in to let your English Bulldogs out and give them some attention consider Doggie Daycare as an alternative. You cannot properly housebreak or train an English Bulldog without consistency and investing some time. English Bulldogs will get very hyperactive and destructive as will any dog if left alone without proper attention and training.

English Bulldogs can over heat very easily so never leave your English Bulldog out for long periods of time in the hot weather. 10 minutes is plenty in the heat of the day. Over heating can kill a Bulldog. Most Bulldogs cannot get out of a swimming pool if they fall in. If you have a pool please keep the dog away if you are not there. Most English Bulldogs cannot swim .Buy a life jacket made for Bulldogs if they are going to be near water. The veterinarian you choose is very important only choose a vet recommended for English Bulldogs .English Bulldogs are sensitive to anesthesia and have conditions exclusive only to the English Bulldog breed. Please keep your English Bulldog puppy on the food we recommended when you got the puppy from us. We have used many foods over the years and we use what we feel is the best for our English Bulldogs. Give your English Bulldogs indestructible toys only. Never give rawhide or plastic or any toys Bulldogs can chew up. Bulldogs have very powerful jaws can chew off pieces and get choked or get a blockage from swallowing pieces. Never feed "Greenies" to Bulldogs. Some dogs have died from swallowing them and they swell in the stomach.

A short history of bulldogs

The Bulldog, to the best of our knowledge, had its origin in the British Isles. The name "bull" was applied because of the dog's use in the sport of bull baiting, which was extremely cruel. The original Bulldog had to be very ferocious and so savage and courageous as to be almost insensitive to pain.

In 1835 dog fighting as a sport became illegal in England. Therefore, the English Bulldog had outlived his usefulness and his days were numbered. However, there were dog lovers who felt deep disappointment at the passing of the bred, and they set themselves the task of preserving it. They proceeded to eliminate the undesirable fierce characteristics and to preserve and accentuate the finer qualities. Within a few generations, the English Bulldog became one of the finest physical specimens, minus its original viciousness.

We may be justly proud of the Bulldog we know today, and we must express our gratitude to our British cousins, who realized the value of the English Bull sufficiently to preserve him for posterity.
