We are back with our Happily Ever After podcast to discuss the Season 6 premier of Once Upon a Time, “The Savior”. Last season left us with Mr. Hyde in Storybrooke and Regina splitting herself from the Evil Queen and we have a lot happening as we start the new season. Mr. Hyde is trying to take over Storybrooke and a flying balloon full of people with untold stories have crashed in the forest. But the bigger problem might be Emma and the tole the role of The Savior is taking on her.

With the Underworld story wrapped up, it’s time to pivot towards Season 6. Henry is on a mission with Violet to destroy magic. We also visited the land of Untold Stories where we met Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde. But the big story was Regina coming to grips with the Evil Queen inside her, and the very questionable way she, with the help of Emma and Snow, tries to deal with that darkness.

Once Upon a Time 521 | Last Rites Recap

This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss Once Upon a Time episode 521, “Last Rites”. We got a heavy dose of drama, full of sadness with only a small twinkle of hope at the end. The Hades story finally comes to an end with the death of a beloved character. We discuss the loss, and whether a happy ending requires a romantic true love, or if the love of family is the real fairy tale ending we are driving towards. As well as all the heavy drama, we also got a surprisingly neat tie-up of the King Arthur story. The impact of this episode will last for a while, and we will have to wait for the season finale to get some clarity.

Once Upon a Time 520 | Firebird Recap

This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss the conclusion, at least for now, of the Underworld story in Once Upon a Timeepisode 520, “Firebird”. In a surprise twist, we end up with an odd alliance between Hades and our Storybrooke heroes. Rumple and Pan each have their own agendas, with Rumple wanting Hades to break the contract that endangers he and Belle’s child, while Pan is willing to do anything to get a new heart and escape the Underworld. But plans start to fall apart when it is found that Killian has been dead too long, and getting his heart won’t be as easy as it was for David and Snow. Along with an excellent flashback of Emma and the origin of “The Jacket”, this was a nice end to the Underworld story and we are thrilled to get back to Storybrooke and find out if the fate of Killian is set in stone.

They introduced Mulan as a lesbian character during her story with Aurora a few seasons ago, but here we found that it is Ruby and Dorothy who fall in love, ending in the patented True Loves Kiss. We both enjoyed how romantic their love was and even dive into some of the queer history that has surrounded the Dorothy character for almost a century.

Meanwhile Coulson and the team are searching for a way to counter his parasitic influence on Daisy and others. Oh yeah, and there is that small thing with Fitz and Simmons crossing the event horizon. This was another great episode, and we not only chatted up all the SHIELD action, but also dove into a little bit of Captain America, Civil War and a bit of X-Men talk, including Vampire Jubilee and X-23.

This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss sisters, mothers, and brothers in Once Upon a Time episode 519, “Sisters”. Cora returns and we find her at her best and her worst. Zelena finally meets her “wicked” mother in the underworld for some much needed resolution. And that resolution is given even more weight after we see how she treated a young Zelena, and young Regina, back in Enchanted Forest. We also discuss the very quick resolution to the James and David story, which seemed to play second fiddle and was a bit anti-climactic. But that said, the ending with its return of a scheming Rumple and his own “wicked” father sets up next week and the quickly approaching end of the Underworld storyline.

SHIELD continues to be a really engaging drama, and the twists and turns as the team spirals into paranoia over who has been turned by Hive were absolutely thrilling. This episode did a terrific job of setting up what should be a fantastic drive to the finale as they all deal with the newest “Fallen Agent”.

On this weeks Agents of Steranko podcast we discuss “Inside Man”, episode 11 of Agents of SHIELD season 3. Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) head to an alien symposium hoping to find Gideon Malick’s allies. We always love when the gang heads out on spy missions, and this one doesn’t let us down. Talbot is a fun foil for Coulson and we also get the surprising return of Carl Creel, The Absorbing Man. With Bobbi sneaking around the outside of buildings, May sneaking in and out of hotel rooms, and Hunter bringing along some extra fire power we couldn’t have asked for more in this fun and engaging episode.

Coulson and Fitz have returned from Maveth and are on the hunt for Gideon Malick. Grant Ward has also returned, but the Hydra entity “Hive” has taken over, and he is hungry. And finally, The Secret Warriors come together with the return of Joey Gutierrez and the addition of Yo-Yo Rodriguez as the team heads to Bogota, Columbia. This was a strong return with a surprising flash forward and a strong use of language as the SHIELD team goes global.

Once Upon a Time 511 | Swan Song, Winter Finale Recap

On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we talk about the Winter Finale “Swan Song”, episode 11 of Once Upon a Time Season 5. Dark Hook has brought all the Dark Ones into Storybrooke from the Underworld. Emma and Regina try to convince Killian that dooming all our heroes is a step back from his redemptive path, but he isn’t listening. Although this episode has some terrific moments, most notably the great performance at the very end by Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue, it also seemed to step back some of the excellent character development across this half season. We discuss the return of Mr. Gold/Rumplestilskin to the dark side, the continued duping of Belle and the lack of any Camelot conclusion alongside the excellent Regina scenes and that terrific end sacrifice by Killian.

This episode was a departure from the main cast as we followed the story of Merida as she tries to save her kingdom. It’s a fun little romp away from the Dark Swan and a welcome breather after the intense reveal about Captain Hook at the end of “Birth”. We both loved seeing the return of Mulan and Ruby and hope we get more of them in the future. The history of Brave’s Merida and her father the King was interesting, but it all did seem more like a small pause before the fast approaching mid-season finale.

The MCU universe has been a constant part of the show, but this week we learn about the history of Hydra and it changes everything we knew. What we thought was clear from Captain America is only part of the story and Hydra is a lot older than we all believed. Not only does this new information make the entire MCU a bigger place, but it also brings all the stories from this season together.

Agents of SHIELD has excelled when dealing with difficult moral issues where nobody is completely right or wrong and no decision is easy. This week the team faces a dangerous Inhuman and brings this question to the front. Is being Inhuman a disease to be cured? Do those who have powers have a right to decide their own fate, especially if they are dangerous powers?

Daisy may be the good side of those who have powers, using them to save Rosalind at one point. But Andrew/Lash shows that there are also those who are dangerous and feel they can be “judge, jury and executioner” based upon their own righteous moral judgement. It’s all a bit of a tease towards next years “Captain America: Civil War” movie. Oh, and we also discuss how Lash is similar to Under Dog. So that happened.

This was a tour de force performance by Elizabeth Henstridge and one of the best episodes Agents of SHIELD has given us. She carried the entire episode on her shoulders. There was a unique sense of tone and style that raised the episode. It was tense and full of suspense, teetering between horror and science fiction. We both loved this episode and can’t wait to see where the rest of the season is headed.

But it’s not enough, and Emma has to turn to Henry, leading to some of the most touching and deep scenes and character development we have seen in quite some time. This is some of the best writing we have seen onOnce Upon a Time.

This week on Agents of Steranko, our Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD podcast, we are chatting episode 220 “Scars.” After Age of Ultron, Coulson and the gang get back to the main story as the two SHIELDs become one again and the inevitable confrontation with the Inhumans leads everyone down a dangerous path.

This was a nice setup for the two-hour finale. With a wrap-up of the two-SHIELDs plotline we move back to Afterlife and the Inhumans. It was nice to see them resolve that story, and the shocking end to the episode keeps the momentum going into the finale. We both really enjoyed Raina in this episode, her motivations were unclear and well masked throughout the episode. The turn of Jiaying was a dark and disappointing turn for Skye and her troubled family, but it set us up for an explosive finale.

Ward and Skye join back up with Coulson, Simmons, Fitz and May for a blast into the past.

This was a fun episode with two amazing scenes. Ward finally faced the team, and family, he betrayed on the bus in a moment we have been waiting for since last season’s amazing Hydra reveal. Skye also shined, using her powers to take out a team of Hydra agents as well as heal the injured Lincoln. But it was Chloe Bennett’s fantastic single shot action scene where she flipped around like May and Bobbie, taking out Hydra agents like the red shirts they are.

We also dive into a bit of the happenings back in Storybrooke and what it might mean that Gold has given Belle her heart with Will Scarlet as her guardian. Finally we talk about the surprising addition of another plot in this overloaded season as Robin runs into a difficult decision with Zelina and her shocking revelation.

This weeks on Agents of Steranko, our Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD podcast, we are chatting episode 218 “Frenemy of My Enemy.” All the teams are converging as Skye and Cal head off for a road trip to his old stomping grounds. Coulson is making deals with Grant Ward, May needs Fury’s toolbox and Simmons isn’t happy with her solution, but Bobbi is leaning towards team Coulson as they all begin to realize the toolbox and the Inhuman’s might be important, but Hydra is still out there.

This was a fun episode and we both were really happy to see all the teams come together for a fun matchup in Milwaukee. With all the focus on Inhumans and Coulson it has been easy to forget Hydra, but this episode did a good job of bringing them back into play. Finally, it is always great to see Brett Dalton back as former Agent Grant Ward. He brings something special to all his scenes, with an amazing growth of pathos after his Hydra turn last year.

Once Upon a Time 419 | Sympathy for the De Vil Recap

In this weeks Happily Ever After, our Once Upon a Time podcast, we visit the roaring twenties and learn of Cruella De Vil's dark past and it's connection to the Author. Meanwhile Emma faces Cruella in Storybrooke and Gold's manipulation places her in a very dangerous place.

We chat about all the implications of this weeks shocking ending and where Emma might go from here. This was an exciting, and quite dark episode that brought much of Gold's plan to fruition. The final scenes do not bode well for Emma, but we hope that her ever growing friendship with Regina and love of Hook might be the keys to carrying her through these tough times. We also chat a bit about Belle and what her scene at the well might mean. This was a great culmination of Gold's plan for Emma and sets the stage for a roaring finish to the season.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 217 | Melinda Recap

This weeks on Agents of Steranko, our Marvel's Agents of SHIELD podcast, we are chatting episode 217 "Melinda." We finally find out how Melinda May became known as The Cavalry and Mind Na Wen blows it out of the park with one of the most emotional performances the show has seen. Meanwhile Skye is finally getting answers, both about how her Inhuman powers work and another great emotional scene as she finally meets her mother, Jiaying. Chloe Bennett has been on a role all season, from her scenes with Brett Dalton's Grant Ward to her amazing growth as the first SHIELD member with powers.

We both loved this episode and dive right in to chat about all the tie-ins this episode gave us. The Melinda flashback was well tied to the story of Jiaying, Skye and a darker vision of the Inhumans and Afterlife. We also found the scenes with Gordon and Raina surprisingly compelling and nuanced. A lot of ground is being laid in these last few episodes and "it's all tied together," as we will soon come up against Avengers: Age of Ultron and the setup for a new SHIELD spinoff show.

Once Upon a Time 418 | Heart of Gold Recap

With Robin Hood helping an injured Gold our stories crash into Oz as Zelena shows up and throws Regina, Robin and Gold's futures up in the air. We recap all the goings on in "Heart of Gold," and found this a nice change of pace. The Robin back-story connected in fun ways to the modern day, but the we thought the real hero was Will Scarlett who taught Robin what it takes to be a real hero.

In New York City we were both blown away by the Zelena/Marion reveal. Not only was it surprising but it also set a new path for Regina that we hope leads to an amazing and emotional conclusion on this fast closing season.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 215 | One Door Closes Recap

In this weeks Agents of Steranko, our Marvel's Agents of SHIELD podcast, we are chatting up Coulson and his team as Robert Gonzalez (Edward James Olmos) and his "real" SHIELD, led by our own Bobbi Morse, come in with guns, and gasses, blazing. We both loved episode 215 "One Door Closes" with it's amazing flashback to the final moments of Captain America: Winter Soldier. We finally find out why Bobbi and Mack have been spying on Coulson, and the answers are more complex and more understandable than we thought.

At the heart of the split loyalties lies Nick Fury and his secrets, but we feel the real dividing line is Skye and her Inhuman powers. Coulson's own team has been split on how to deal with her new-found gifts, but it seems that Simmons has finally turned the corner and we were blown away by the amazing scene she had with Bobbi.

Overall, this season and this storyline is bringing some of the most complex and morally challenging stories on any superhero show and we can't wait for more.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 2.14 | Love in the Time of Hydra Recap

This weeks podcast for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD finds us with mixed feelings. Episode 2.14 "Love in the Time of Hydra" dives into the "real" SHIELD, led by Robert Gonzalez (Edward James Olmos) with the help of undercover agents Bobbi and Mack. We finally get answers, and they aren't all good. There is a real split and both sides seem to have valid points, but secrets and lies rarely ever end well.

While the fractured SHIELD drives much of the story, we also loved the villainous fun of Brett Dalton's Grant Ward. Along with General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar), this b-story provided a welcome break from the heavy drama in the SHIELD team. And neither we, nor Marvel are going to forget about Skye (Chloe Bennet) and her link to the greater Inhumans story they are telling. Skye might be the source of a lot of friction, but she's away from everyone and hanging out in a cabin that Steve Rogers once stayed at, and whether that's a good place or bad place for her isn't quite clear.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD 2.11 | Aftershocks Podcast

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD is back with episode 2.11 "Aftershocks", and we are chatting about the big changes after last years mid-season finale. Skye and Raina are Inhumans, Calvin Zabo might be sipping the Mr. Hyde juice, Simmons and Fitz deal with the "alien" Inhumans in very different ways, and Coulson wants to strike a major blow to Hydra in retaliation for the death of Tripp.

We really enjoyed this episode, which spent quite a bit of time on the ramification of the mid-season finale. Skye and Raina, but sadly not Tripp, survived the collapse of the Temple and Skye is now in quarantine. The best part of the Skye story was clearly Fitz, who not only helps Skye in the end, but is also ready to step in and help Mack, much like Mack did for Fitz earlier in the season.

The Simmons storyline was hard to swallow as she began to freak out and use some really disturbing terms in relation to those with powers, including the Avengers. It was a good thing Fitz was there to balance this out, but it was a nasty direction for Simmons and one we hope doesn't last long.

Coulson is on a rampage as well, but his target is Hydra and it seemed the show was trying to clear out the Hydra story a little bit, making room for a bigger look into the origin of two people with powers, Skye and Raina alongside Calvin Zabo , The Inhumans (including the very cool Gordon), and the secret that Bobbie and Mack are hiding.

Overall this was a great return, and I can't wait until we see Siff next week, and see the growth of both Skye and Raina.

Sleepy Hollow 2.18 | Tempus Fugit, Season 2 Finale Podcast

We’re chatting up the season 2 Sleepy Hollow finale, “Tempus Fugit”. We have tons of Abbie being awesome, Katrina showing her true colors, Ichabod with a cell phone, Ben Franklin and Grace Dixon! This finale was a total blast, and we have tons of clips to chat about. Check out the podcast and let us know what you thought about the finale. Show notes below.

We both loved the finale. Although I was worried going in about how they would treat Abbie in the time of slavery, she was in control of her actions throughout the episode. Her meeting with Grace Dixon was a real highlight and quite touching.

It was nice to see Ichabod in the place of believing Abbie much like she had to in the premier episode. We also got to see nice recalls to the early Ichabod who was so confused by modern technology like cell phones (no less smart phones with those tricky “slide” directions).

This was a beautiful episode. The opening battle scene was wonderfully shot and could have been pulled from any big budget film. The period location of the entire episode looked great and seemed natural. The flash forward at the end of the episode was a great treat for the pause button.

Both guest stars, Grace Dixon and Ben Franklin, showed Sleepy Hollow at its very best. Ben was funny and genial, while also getting very serious and having one of the best lines ever on the show about Abbie being “The American Dream”. Meanwhile it wasn’t only seeing Abbie meet Grace, her ancestor, but how Grace was so key to the entire story.

Overall this was a great finale, and Sleepy Hollow easily deserves a Season 3. Let’s #RenewSleepyHollow.

Sleepy Hollow 2.17 | The Awakening Podcast

Sleepy Hollow didn't wait for the finale as episode 2.17 “The Awakening” shifted the entire playing field. Katrina, Henry and Irving all make dramatic turns. On this weeks podcast we chat up the new direction, a return to Abbie and Ichabod and a sadly difficult end leading into next weeks finale. Check it out, and show notes below.

Wow. What a change in direction for Sleepy Hollow. We spend a bit of time talking about the silliness of Thomas Jefferson the week before, but spend most of our time on "The Awakening." We were both happy to see the new direction. Katrina is a perfect villain for the series and they did a nice job of providing her with legitimate, believable motivations (even if the entire shift has been quite abrupt between Katrina and Ichabod).

It was sad, but unsurprising to see John Noble leave the show as Henry Parish (or Jeremy Crane). But hopefully they are opening the show to a coven centric show with Katrina as the main antagonist. At the same time, "The Awakening" quickly did away with the evil Frank Irving and we couldn't be happier.

Finally, I do gone on a bit of a rant about the final time-travel back to 1781. After a season focussed on Ichabod and Katrina, and after the dramatic death of Henry triggering Katrina's full blown shift of allegiance, placing Abbie (who has been underserved all season) into a place where she is treated like a slave ... Well, I have a few words.

Sleepy Hollow 2.15 | Spellcaster

Lines are drawn on this weeks Sleepy Hollow, episode 2.15 "Spellcaster." Loyalties are being tested as Katrina faces the cause of her failing magic, Henry finally comes out of hiding and Irving makes clear who's side he is on. Check out this weeks podcast as we talk the shifting alliances and the exciting changes coming as we race towards seasons end, with show notes below.

We both really enjoyed the direction Sleepy Hollow seems to be going in this episode. They seem to be drawing clear lines, and to our happy surprise it seems Katrina might be falling on the dark side. Given how she seemed to disrupt the chemistry between Abbie and Ichabod, it's thrilling to see them break her off from the witnesses.

This episode, like last weeks "Kali Yuga" continued to make clear some of the ambiguities that have crept into the show of late. After his death and resurrection, we were unsure what side Frank Irving stood, but this week they made it crystal clear. This is certainly not good for our witnesses, who finally seem to be accepting him back into the fold.

They seem to be clearing up the muddled storylines of the season as we head towards the finale, and "Spellcaster" did a great job of moving things forward. Now we just need to get Jenny back on the screen and see where this all goes.

Changes are coming to Sleepy Hollow in episode 2.14, Kali Yuga. Abbie and Ichabod finally confront their fractured relationship, Hawley faces his past and Irving resolves his legal battles, but his troubles aren't over yet. Not if the look on Katrina's face to end the episode told us anything.

With a shift in show direction, we chat about the renewed relationship of the witness, the loss of a character (at least for now), and where we think the show might be going. Check out the podcast and show notes below.

This was a mixed episode, more concerned with signaling the upcoming changes to the show than anything else. It is no news that the sophomore season of Sleepy Hollow hasn't hit the same magic of the first season. Episode 14, Kali Yuga, is the first episode in a new direction that we are told will focus more on the fun and chemistry of the cast and less on the mythology.

We both felt this was a necessary episode in relation to Abbie and Ichabod. Much of the episode was spent airing the various barriers in their relationship as they were literally locked in a room and forced to deal with their issues. Let's hope this is the end of the witness fracture.

The story of Carmilla, the vampiric Hindu step-mother of Nick Hawley didn't work that well. Nick has been at his best when his is fun and bickering with Abbie and Ichabod, but we saw little of that in Kali Yuga.

The final scene between Katrina and Irving was another highlight, with a more sinister Katrina than we have seen in some time. And we can only guess at the fate of Irving, whether it is his soul or his ability to check out his duds in a mirror.

Sleepy Hollow 2.13 | Pittura Infamante

The witnesses split up in this weeks Sleepy Hollow, episode 2.13 Pittura Infamante. Ichabod and Katrina are on date-night while Abbie faces the return of Frank Irving. We chat about Michelle Trachtenberg as Abigail Adams, the case of the murderous painting and the tough decisions for Abbie.

This is the second episode after the dramatic winter finale and we are still waiting for some answers. Henry remains missing while Ichabod and Katrina spend some time renewing their troubled relationship. And while Irving is back, we still aren't sure what side he is on, and neither is Abbie.

We had mixed feelings about this episode. The case of the murdered art restorer was fun and had some nice special effects. It was good to see Katrina play a more active role, but we were both confused about Abigail Adams age within the flashbacks. The mention of Katrina being her midwife for five children didn't seem to match up with either the age of the flashback Abigail, nor the very active life as a coven witch and spy for Katrina.

The direction of Abbie was more fraught. Although taking a hard line against the recently dead Irving seems in line with her direction of the season, I question if this is an enjoyable direction for the character. Nicole Beharie's Abbie has been quick to judge this season and the confrontation with Irving seems the culmination of her hard, cold view of reality.

But I question whether this is good for the show, and also whether it is actually consistent with how they have dealt with possibly evil people in the past. It wasn't long ago that Abby was fine with Katrina living as a spy with Abraham, the Horseman of Death.

Sleepy Hollow 2.12 | Paradise Lost Podcast

Sleepy Hollow returned from their dramatic winter finale with a bushel full of questions. What are the witnesses without an apocalypse? What will Henry do without Moloch? Is Abraham redeemable? Will we see our beloved Captain Irving once more? And while "Paradise Lost" answered a few of these, it left most of them open. We chat about some of our favorite moment of the episode, share some of the lighter moments and go over a few news items for the week.

With the return of Sleepy Hollow, we were excited for some answers. We both found the episode mixed, with a few nice scenes, but an overall story that didn't answer many questions or advance the narrative much.

We go through our favorite scenes with a few clips, including a long discussion on Orion and the role of the fallen angel through the episode. We couldn't ignore the further developments of the Ichabod and Katrina soap opera, but we at least got to see the return of Orlando Jones's Captain Irving.

Jenny and Hawley end up delegated to the silly pile, as they spent most of the episode throwing strangely awkward dialogue at each other. And, with an angel about, there was little doubt about Abbie bluntly asking all the questions about God that we all would have asked.

In News, we noted that Michelle Trachtenberg will be joining episode 13 as Abigail Adams, and Nicole Beharie was nominated for and NAACP award for Best Actress in a Drama. Good Luck Nicole!

Sleepy Hollow 2.11 | The Akeda, Recap and Review

We chat about the mid-season finale of Sleepy Hollow, "The Akeda". Moloch has been a thorn in the side of Abbie and Ichabod for too long, and the battle comes to a startling climax in this dramatic closer.

We take a close look at "The Akeda", talking about our favorite moments, both heavy and light. The dramatic loss of Captain (he will always be Captain) Irving had us both shaken, but luckily the world of Sleepy Hollow doesn't hold death against you if you want to keep dropping by.

We talk a bit about Orlando Jones and our hopes for not just him, but Lyndie Greenwood's Jenny as well. The fate of John Noble's Henry seems up in the air along with the relationship between Ichabod and Katrina. The finale was full of sacrifice and the best lines of the night came from Nicole Beharie as she slayed with lines like "I'm taking out Moloch!".

The finale was full of drama, but luckily Hawley and Jenny were around for some lighter moments, and who doesn't want to see Tom Mison riding a motorcycle soon?

Sleepy Hollow S2 | Episode 9, Mama, Recap and Review

We chat about “Mama”, episode 9 of Sleepy Hollow and one of its best episodes ever. Abbie and Jenny take center stage when a murderous ghost shows up at Tarrytown Psych.

This was Sleepy Hollow at its very best. Nicole Beharie and Lyndie Greenwood gave aware winning performances in this deeply emotional episode. The closeness of the two Mills sisters coming face to face with the mother who abandoned them was breathtaking.

In a season that has centered on Katrina and her captivity, it was a joy to follow Abbie and Jenny, as well as Orlando Jones’s Irving for an entire episode. This was a well needed change of pace, both with deep emotional impact as well as an interesting and much more subtle villain in Cynthia Stevenson’s Nurse Lambert.

This was Sleepy Hollow at its very best.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD S2 | Episode 7, The Writing on the Wall, Recap and Review

We chat about Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD episode 7, “The Writing on the Wall,” as Coulson finally gets an answer to the symbols. Join us as we chat about blue aliens, Inhumans, Attilan and Ward’s present.

The symbols are beginning to take over Clark Gregg’s Director Coulson’s life and he needs answers. When they find that someone has been hunting people who knew about the symbols he jumps into the torture machine to get his memories back. In the process, we find out exactly how the Tahiti project worked and it’s connection to both the blue, Kree-like alien and the symbols he and others have been obsessively carving. But the symbols and memories are driving Coulson over the edge and Skye, Chloe Bennet, has to take control while the rest are hunting Brett Dalton’s Grant Ward.

By the end we have turned a page on Agent of SHIELD, with Coulson’s memory and Tahiti project behind us the Director can now take control and move towards their new object, an ancient city that might just tie into the greater Marvel cinematic universe.

All the background of last year, alongside this seasons great character arcs brought us to a great, satisfying conclusion to some stories while opening up new and exciting places for the entire crew in “The Writing on the Wall.” We can’t wait to see where they go next.

Sleepy Hollow S2 | Episode 8, Heartless, Recap and Review

We chat about Sleepy Hollow episode 8 “Heartless”. Abbie and Ichabod face another of Henry’s monsters, this time it’s a Succubus and she is after souls. But where are the souls going after she sucks them up.

Katrina is finally free, but Abbie and Ichabod are still trying to figure out how to move forward. This episode once again addressed the issue of love and trust between Katrina and Ichabod. Katrina feels she must fight for Henry and believes his actions are driven by the madness of Moloch while Abbie keeps reminding her that he is also the Horseman of War and has shown very little to earn any favor with our scooby gang.

We enjoyed most of this episode, but once again the cast was thin. None of the side characters appeared in this episode beyond Nick Hawley. No Jenny, Irving or Sheriff Reyes. It also had a frustrating ending that seemed to take a few steps backwards. Yet, this was still a fun episode with a lot of nice character work from Nicole Beharie, Tom Mison and Katia Winter

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD S2 | Episode 6, Fractured House, Recap and Review

Director Coulson and the remnants of SHIELD have been trying to rebuild not just their teams, but their reputation, and this weeks episode of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, “Fractured House”, has Hydra placing them all in danger when an attack on the UN puts the blame on SHIELD. Sociopathic Hydra prisoner and former SHIELD buddy Grant Ward might be stuck in Coulson’s basement, but his brother is a powerful Senator, and now he’s going after SHIELD.

This was another great episode on this vastly improved show and we both loved the focus on Brett Dalton’s Ward. His turn from milquetoast SHIELD agent to menacing Hydra villain has been a blast. His cell-side chats with Skye have brought out the best in Chloe Bennet.

We also loved seeing a new Whiplash leading the Hydra strike teams. The razor whip fight scene with Ming-Na-Wen’s Agent May was a great matchup as she leapt and twisted over his whip while he spun around. This season has done a great job with cool and exciting villains and its a vast improvement over last season.

Sleepy Hollow S2 | Episode 7, Deliverance, Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 7 of Sleepy Hollow, “Deliverance.” Katrina is in peril from another curse by Henry, with a dangerous bun in the oven. Abbie and ichabod rush to save her, but they are going to need the help of Sheriff Reyes if their going to save Katrina.

We chat about the fate of Katrina and her on-going passive role on the show. Our hope is that “Deliverance” will be the end of her captive days and the beginning of Katrina the kick-ass witch that she is supposed to be. This episode also had a good dose of election humor. It’s always nice when a show knows its schedule in advance and can plan episodes like this that are going to air the night before a an event like election day.

Finally, we did get a small bit of Irving and no Jenny Mills this episode. Let’s hope for some real focus on those two in the upcoming episodes.

Sleepy Hollow S2 | Episode 6, And the Abyss Gazes Back, Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 6 of Sleepy Hollow, “And The Abyss Gazes Back.” Abbie and Ichabod run into Joe Corbin, the son of Sheriff August Corbin, and he has a flesh craving spirit problem going on. Joe Corbin is a Wendigo.

Abbie and Joe have a complicated history ever since the Sheriff took in Abbie while Joe was still a young boy, but he has more serious problems. We discuss Joe and his Wendigo curse, along with its connections to Henry. We are still trying to figure out if Henry, “the son of Katrina and Ichabod,” still exists or if he has been subsumed as a servant of Moloch. By the end, his choices don’t seem to fare well for a happy family reunion any time soon.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD S2.4 & 2.5 Podcast | Sequins and Secrets

It’s a double-bill for our Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD podcast of episodes 4 and 5, “Face My Enemy” and “A Hen in the Wolf House”. Director Coulson joins Agent May in the field as they chase after a painting connected to the mystery symbols he has been carving and Kyle MacLachlan steps up as Skye's father.

We start with episode 4, “Face My Enemy”. We loved seeing Coulson back in the field, and it was a blast to follow Agent May as she stepped out of her kick-ass boots and into a sequin dress and heels. But that didn’t stop Ming-Na Wen, who played no one, but two version of herself kicking some serious ass.

In episode 5, “A Hen in the Wolf House”, we get our first close look at Kyle MacLachlan as Skye’s anger riddled father. With Raina threatened by Whitehall and Hydra, she is going off-script and changes everyones plans. Skye’s father is showing his darkest colors as he heads off to see Whitehall with the Obelisk and Simmons cover is blown at Hydra.

Lucky for Simmons we have the amazing Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird, ready to help extract our plucky little secret agent. And its looking like they are going to need both of their help as SHIELD continues to face dangerous times.

Sleepy Hollow S2.5 | The Weeping Lady Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 5 of Sleepy Hollow, "The Weeping Lady", recapping Abbie and Ichabod against a jealous ghost from the past who will endanger not just Ichabod, but everyone he is close to.

This week was once again light on the cast, with Irving again absent and Jenny making only a brief appearance. But we were rewarded with some nice character growth, specifically from the trio of Katrina, Abraham and Henry. We discuss their increasingly turbulent relationship and what it might mean to Katrina and Ichabod in the long run.

Nick Hawley was prominent once again this week and lucky for the team he was, because the Weeping Lady might seem like a light villain, but she can cause serious harm and the stakes are set high right at the start.

Overall, we thought this was another solid entry in this slightly slower season. It was great seeing a more complex relationship between Abraham and Katrina and trouble between Henry and Abraham - and how better to end then Moloch having a friendly little chat with Henry.

Sleepy Hollow S2.4 | Go Where I Send Thee… Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 4 of Sleepy Hollow, Go Where I Send Thee…, recapping Abbie and Ichabod facing a Pied Piper who has cursed a local family with connections to Abbie. Meanwhile, Irving is still in Tarrytown Psychiatric and finally confronts Henry about their earlier deal.

This week we saw Abbie and Ichabod out on their own with Jenny, Sheriff Reyes, Katrina, and Abraham all getting the week off. With their troops thin, Abbie and Ichabod recruit privateer Nick Hawley to help against this weeks foe, a Pied Piper.

There was a neat little story inside this monster of the week episode. A cursed family that is struck with a terrible choice and a monster out of fairy tales. That said, the monster was only so interesting and worked best when he was behind swirling visual effects.

Former Captain Irving remains in Tarrytown, but we both loved his two small scenes. Seeing him fight in a black T-shirt and bandana in a future apocalypse was a ball of fun, and his closing realization about the deal he struck with Henry is a nice close to what is basically a filler episode.

Finally, we talk a bit about the challenge the show has moving from a short 13 episode season last year to a full season. They are going to have to find a way to have solid filler episodes going forward.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD S2.3 | Making Friends and Influencing People, Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 3 of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Making Friends and Influencing People, recapping Coulson and the gang as we finally find out where Simmons has been. She cross paths with the team when Donnie Gill, The Blizzard, arrives with a serious grudge. There were also some real fireworks when Fitz finally confronts Ward face to face.

This week we finally found out where Jemma Simmons has been. No, she did not simply run away from the damaged Fitz, but instead she is deep undercover at Hydra. We both loved the introduction where she walked to work like Mary Tyler Moore. It was great to see her out from under the constraints of SHIELD. She shined in the office as expected, but also while under interrogation and out in the field.

The villain this week was Donnie Gill, who we saw last season at SHIELD Academy. The visuals were terrific again as we saw Donnie become The Blizzard in all but costume. He was also a clear villain with quite a few harsh murders.

Finally, we were in awe of the great confrontation between Fitz and Ward. We had more great music, and the tension in the scene was cranked up to 11. Perhaps this is the first step on the road to recovery for Fitzy? We hope so.

Sleepy Hollow S2 | Episode 3, Root of All Evil Recap and Review

We chat about Episode 3 of Sleepy Hollow, Root of All Evil, recapping Abbie and Ichabod facing a more subtle and devious attack, this time connected to both Benedict Arnold and Judas.

This week we saw Abbie and the gang face some heavy times. Emotions ran hot throughout the episode as Henry put some fabled coins into circulation that amplified peoples worse thoughts. Things were already turned up after Jenny found Abby had withheld a connection between Reyes, the troublesome new Sheriff, and Abbie and Jenny’s mother. We loved all the great scenes this gave us, from Jenny’s rightful indignation to Abbie breaking down about her mother’s tragic end. Overall, this episode gave us some of the best character work the show has seen.

Yet, no episode of Sleepy Hollow is complete without some type of historical connection. This week we went further back than just the revolutionary war as we found out the 30 pieces of silver from the story of Judas Iscariot were in the hands of Henry, the Horseman of War. But these corrupting coins don’t just pop up today. No, they were in the hands of Benedict Arnold and were the reason for his betrayal. Because … Sleepy Hollow.

Finally, we chatted about Irving in Terry Town psychiatric, where Henry is trying to prevent Abbie and Ichabod from talking to their former Captain. We both loved the bit of foolery that Ichabod uses to get a quick chat. Though at the end, we aren’t sure which side Irving will choose. His freedom and family are held in dark hands.
