Yankee Candle has launched a new collection of candles to honor our military. They have partnered with Homes for Our Troops and will contribute $1.00 for every candle sold from the Homefront Girl® line!
Homes for Our Troops is a nonprofit organization that builds specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for severely injured veterans from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Homefront Girl® was created by Gaby Juergens, a military wife and artist who wanted to create a collection for the military community to share their pride for loved ones serving in the military.

The candle I was sent was Watermelon Splash and the label reads: Gratitude Never Out Of Style. It smells fantastic! Summertime is coming up soon so this fragrance really fits well with the season.
I love that a portion of the candles purchased is donated to a worthy cause to help injured veterans live in accessible, mortgage-free homes. I didn't know about the non-profit organization until I heard what Yankee Candle was doing. It's a great way to bring light to these types of organizations dedicated to helping our military.

I think this will be my first update post since I don't usually share much about my personal life. I mostly write product reviews and giveaways, therefore, I wanted to incorporate more personal blog posts. I'm also in the process of a blog makeover and wanted to make some changes!
I started beauty school a couple months ago. I'm currently studying to become an Esthetician. So far, I am loving school. Learning about waxing and different facial treatments has definitely increased my interest in skincare products! I'm obsessed with discovering new product lines that I've never heard of before starting school.
I've changed up my entire skincare routine to reflect all the good stuff I've been taught during school. I'll also update on that in another post!

With that being said, don't be surprised if you see a lot more blog updates about school and beauty products. Like I said, it has become an obsession. :)

Day By Day Beauty Facial Blotting Paper

I have combination skin - Normal/Oily. Since starting school last month for Esthetics (I'll update you in another blog post), I've learned so much about the skin. Did you know you're born with your skin type? It's true!

The terrible truth about my skin is that it gets oily before noon. *sad face*

I'm currently using Facial Blotting Paper from Day By Day Beauty to remove excess oil and shine. It has been my go-to beauty product. I've even shared it with the girls in my class.

The Learning Journey International Magnetic Spell and Learn Board

Who says educational toys have to be dull? The Learning Journey International is well-known for their award-winning learning toys - the selection is endless! Just browse their online shop and you'll see what I mean.
Z will be 3 soon and we're getting in the habit of having him spell out simple words by pointing out each letter. He really loves his letters and was excited when I showed him the Magnetic Spell and Learn Board.

The board is pretty much an all-in-one toy that is easy to take anywhere. The pieces are stored in the compartment attached to the board. The storage helps kids learn to clean up after they are done. One downside is that it's difficult for Z to put all the pieces away because they have to be completely flat and connected in order for the door to close.

The Learning Journey International Magnetic Spell and Learn Board includes 40 letters and 10 magnetic pictures. It is recommended for ages 3 and up.

The list of organic ingredients used include:

Fragrant Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar gently exfoliates while olive oil moisturizes, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and rejuvenated.

Vanilla Body Scrub

1 cup Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 or 2 drops of an essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, ect.)
Decorative, waterproof container

Directions:

Mix ingredients together in a bowl. Spoon into a decorative, waterproof container. Wrap in decorative paper.

Instructions for use: Apply a small amount to damp skin while in shower or bath. Gently scrub skin with a soft washcloth. Rinse thoroughly.

Making this body scrub was extremely easy and fun! I used a few drops of lavender essential oil and even added lavender buds to the mix. It smells delicious. I tested it out on my hands and they were really soft afterward. It is very exfoliating so I had to be gentle or else I would have scrubbed my skin off.
