Hiccups & Fairy Dust is packing up all the pixie dust, leaving the mushroom camp and moving to a new site. Even the name is changed, so you won't find the new site at the old address.4 SQUARE WALLSwas created for me by my brilliant husband and his fellow, Matt, at White Dog Arts. It's fresh, clean and fun. At 4 SQUARE WALLS you'll find my usual chatter about things going on, things I've seen,

Yes, that's one of the things I've been working on this week. My son's costume of choice this year comes from this advertisement, which he and I saw on TV during the last week of August. We laughed so long we were nearly crying and we both knew immediately that he HAS TO BE THAT FOR HALLOWEEN.If you really enjoyed that, check out the UNCUT version. It's even funnier - in a gross, gory, horrifying

Don't you love the little cottage in the Week 21 image? I do. I can think of a 1,000 uses for it. I know one reader would like to make it into a workshop. What would you do with it if you had such a space on your property? I'd really like to know. Shoot me a comment and tell me, in full detail! Or, if you're so inclined, draw a picture of your little space. I'll share the comments (keep yours

I'm snippeting again. The last snippet came from my son. He actually heard an employee say that to a customer once in a fast food restaurant. I'm not clear on any other details, but the images created in my mind by that quote are awesome. Here's a new snippet for you. I hope you can have fun with this one."Let me try that. It's not magic."Wow. Wouldn't today be the perfect day for a massage and a

I can hardly believe it's been 21 weeks! Thank you all for your patience as I muddle (and not strawberry muddle, mind you) my way through my very busy costume season. I am about half way through - still need to finish Uncle Sam, create Chainsaw Ferret and whatever my daughter decides to be. And, the Girl Scouts are keeping me very busy with the Scarecrow thing, as well as work (oh yeah, I work

I didn't forget. Oh trust me, I didn't forget. What can I say? It's costume season - I'm really busy! There was no winner for Week 19, and since it's such a great Halloween image, I'm going to use it again for Week 23 (Halloween Week). So, you can keep looking for it, and wait for it to show up again. It will be an exciting race to see who enters their answer first once the image is up. But

I know, I know, I'm late. Like the White Rabbit. I'm sorry. It's been a very hectic week, Alice, on top of a very hectic week, Alice. I didn't have an image this morning, and I was crazy busy at work so I couldn't run out at lunch time to take one (like I did last week). So, after work I rushed home, grabbed the kids, ran out with my camera, took this photo, went to the grocery store (where I

My friend, Charlie-who's-lived-here-all-his-life was the winner this week! And it's about time. Congratulations Charlie! I hope you're putting your little tiny dishes to good use.The cool photo for this week was taken at Champion Auto, on Route 1 in Arundel, just off the corner of Log Cabin Road.Champion Auto is an auto shop that specializes in repairing and refurbishing antiques and used cars,

This, I think, is going to be one of my all-time favorite Photo Challenge images. Well, at least it is so far. Do you know where this is?I had some fun taking that picture. It's so very diner-esque.And continuing along that theme, your prize for this week is this awesome little set of 4 practical, cool, durable little diner dishes. A Flea Market find. Each dish measures 4.25" in diameter, not

Well, jeez. Nobody?I'm a little surprised. I guess none of you are as enamoured with the United States Postal Service as I am. I just love that you can still send a letter clear across the country to your great Aunt Edna for under 50 cents. And I like to go in and visit John and John and the other "post office guys". They're nice to me.Anyway, the window is one of two on the front facade of the

This little video was sent to me by my mother, Mrs. Breen. I love videos like this, and I'm such a huge sap, they always put me on the verge of tears and force little ohs and awws out of me quite unintentionally. This one I like very much, and perhaps you've seen it already. To me, this is how life and the world should be: dancing together, bumbling happily into one another and sharing the common

Another day, another dollop (because who needs money when you have whipped cream?). Here's your image for Week 17...And the prize this week is...well...I don't really know yet. It will be something like this...A cool find from the flea market. Not sure what it will be - think surprise, or grab bag. Feel the excitement, the anticipation. If you're lucky, it will be every bit as cool as those

And the winner is...Kendra Connor! Kendra is now enjoying her two new aluminum water bottles, along with her special Sweet 16 prize of sugar cookies with PINK frosting. Way to go Kendra! Happy Sweet 16!I had a number of correct guesses for this image. It is the old machine shop building on the corner of Ross Road and Route 1 in Kennebunk. Take a look. I love this old building. I think it's time to Snippet again. The last snippet came from the first page of Out of Africa, by Isak Dinesen (Karen Blixen), one of my all time favorite books..."I had a farm in Africa at the foot of the Ngong Hills..." All of her books are very good and I recommend them if you like the sort of book that takes you somewhere else, but not too fast and not with too much vigor. As well as

SWEET 16!The Photo Challenge is celebrating its Sweet 16 Week. How? Well, since Sweet 16 makes me think of all things pink, I'll throw something pink into the prize bag this week, along with the regular prize. What will it be? I'm not sure yet. Well done Minervini. This is a front window at Bibber Funeral Home on Summer Street. It's such a beautiful old Victorian, and I love the curtains they've chosen for those front windows - they're perfect. (okay - next day - I'm noticing now that the lovely curtains don't show in this image, and you all must think I'm either blind or have an unusual passion for pull-shades) I'll get your prize to

Important Note to all Photo Challenge Players:I will be on vacation next week from August 22-29. The Photo Challenge will be taking a vacation too, so I will not post a new photo next week. I'm surprised no one guessed this one, especially all of you moms and Little Leaguers out there. I know you've all been here before...the West Kennebunk playground. See the little car illustration on the outside of the jungle-gym? Hmmm. Yes. Good one, eh? Well then, there are still two gleaming, shiny, aluminum water bottles up for grabs. I know you could all use an extra water bottle this week!

I can't help it. I have to post a new Snippet. I love snippeting and I just came across a lovely tidbit. First though, I have to tell you where the last snippet came from - you know, to be all legal and everything. That little tiddy came from one of my favorite books in my collection of vintage or just plain old books: Heloise's Kitchen Hints, by Heloise, published in 1963 by Prentice Hall. Ooooh, I was so close to not posting an image today. Not that I don't enjoy doing it, but I'd been so lazy this week about going out with my camera. I was feeling very unprepared this morning. But then the prize for this week arrived in the mail and I just think it's cool, so I had to get my act together and post this image! Here you go. The winner for Week 12 was Mike Minervini. This is Mike's second win. It would be his third, or maybe even fourth, if he hadn't been so worried about appearing too greedy to all of you players. But I assured him you can win over and over if you have the right answers! So, I'll bake Mike some Cinnamon bread this evening. It's Week 12.See if you can figure out where this guy lives. Maybe he's a modern day David. If so, I wonder who his Goliath would be? Should we name him? He looks like trouble to me.I'm making bread for my boys this week, so I'll make a loaf for the lucky winner too. It will be a cinnamon-sugar bread (not a cake-like bread) and will be perfect for breakfast toast, or french toast. Or, I'm
