As I didn't have the best day in the world yesterday (Thursday), I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make a little inspirational board to cheer myself up and feel a bit better. Here's what's been inspiring me lately.

1) I'm one of those people who will have a new favourite song or band every week. Music is a huge part of me, and a good song can put me in a good mood for ages. I've recently gotten into Tribes and their début album is amazing. Definitely one of the best albums I've heard in a while, as it's pure rock, and they sound amazing.

2) Still on the topic of music, a guilty pleasure of mine: We Are The In Crowd. It's a bit on the 'pop' side compared to what I have on my playlists, but I'm hooked. Between the catchy songs which are a lot of fun to sing aloud to, and vocalist Taylor Jardine's stunning voice, their album is one that I've had on repeat for months, and still aren't bored of. And Jardine is also super cute with great style.

3) For me, nothing is as relaxing as reading a good book, which is exactly what I need to do after a long day like today. I love being immersed in a completely different world and living life through someone else's eyes.

4/10) I don't know why, but I've been itching to be constantly outdoors these days. I know it's cold, but I'm loving walking around, getting some fresh air and just enjoying the world. I also really want to be that girl, sitting in the sun, with her super cool Vans.

5) I have been slightly hooked on FreePeople's latest lookbook. It's so well shot and has some beautiful pictures. This dress just seems so perfect and I love how they styled it as well. Free People has some really gorgeous pieces in the January catalogue and I've been lusting over them all.

6) I want it to be really hot again, so that I can wear pretty dresses, and spend my days in the park, where the days are nice and long. I'm so bored of the short and dreary days we're currently experiencing in London.

7) I recently discovered a new brand: For Love And Lemons. Since I stumbled upon the website, I've been back many times to admire their SS12 Collection. The collection is so perfectly Summery, and I want it ALL! And the beautiful photos of the collection just makes me want everything more.

8) I'm a massive ice skating fan, and I've been a lot these last few months. These ice skates are absolutely amazing, especially for me, who loves a good heel. I'm not sure how practical they'd be, but no denying you'll look so stylish on the ice. I think I may have to try heeled skates now.

9) Louboutins: The perfect shoe. That's all I need to say.

11) I hated pink in my teens, but it's been growing on me lately. This whole outfit is so bright and I'd love to be able to pull off such bright colours like that.

12) I'm long overdue a haircut. I've booked myself in for one next week, but have no idea what I want to do. I definitely want to keep it long, but as to whether or not I want to keep the fringe is another question. Thoughts?

A Rainy Tuesday

A casual outfit to share with you guys today. I wore it the other, while heading into town to meet Gok Wan, as you do (more on that later). It's not the most interesting outfit, but I really wanted to show you guys my new jeans. I wish the outfit photographed better as it looked really good, but sadly, it was dark and wet, and my hair had already been ruined thanks to the rain. Although, I didn't let that get me down and ended up having a great day!

I absolutely LOVE these jeans. They're Cheap Monday and Susie picked them up for me, while she was in Berlin over the weekend. They're seriously the best present ever!
I love these jeans and can see myself wearing them to death. They were a tiny bit too small for me, and by that, I mean about one millimeter, so it was *ahem* interesting watching me squeeze into them, and I have a few 'war wounds' to prove it. But we got there in the end and the jeans look great on :). I think they've stretched a bit now, so the fitting is absolutely perfect right now!

To balance out the super skinny jeans, I paired them with a a slouchy H&M t-shirt, and then covered it with a grey Zara cardigan (stolen from Susie while she was staying at my house), and of course, added my Ganni hat (which has actually expanded now, so doesn't fit as well as it used to). And my shoes are my Deichmann boots, which actually look really cool wet.

The Asymmetrical Skirt

Wearing this outfit in January was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done. I covered up with a coat, but was still cold, and wearing heels in the rain is not smart, but at least I looked cool, right?

This asymmetrical skirt, from New Look, is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to style. I bought it a few weeks ago and anytime I paired it with something, it would NOT look good, and I'd be back to square one.
Finally, I decided to go simple, and just added a white t-shirt, with a black waistcoat, and the outfit seemed to work. I threw on some black heels and was good to go.

Also, that's rain-ruined hair...

The t-shirt is from H&M, the waistcoat is Dorothy Perkins (from the first ever Take 10 Challenge) and the shoes are Sarenza. I promise, next time I photograph them, that I'll take a picture of the super cool purple soles on them.

Laduree Afternoon Tea and Somerset House

Sometimes it's nice to have a really cute and girly day with a good friend. While Susie was in London last week, we dedicated a day to each other, for a lovely day out.

We started with the most perfect Afternoon Tea at Laduree, Covent Garden. It was Susie's treat to me, and it was my favourite out of all the Afternoon Tea's I've had. I decided on Hot Chocolate (I'm not a tea or coffee drinker at all), then we had an amazing tower of food.

There were finger sandwiches (we chose vegetarian, smoked salmon and cheese) and they were all absolutely delicious, with the smoked salmon being my favourite. Next up we had a lovely assortment of croissants and brioche's. Again, each was as delicious as the rest. The croissants had walnuts in them, making them so delicious and we literally inhaled them without thinking.

Finally, there was dessert. My biggest regret in life was not finishing it all, but I was so stuffed by the end. The chocolate thing was possibly the most delicious thing I have ever had in my whole life, with the Raspberry tart being a close second. I could only manage half of each but they were amazing. I was longingly staring at them, wishing I wasn't so full.

We then headed over to Somerset House for an hour of skating on their Tiffany & Co Ice Skating Rink. Ice skating is one of my favourite hobbies, and Somerset House had a great vibe. The ice marshals were really fun and friendly, and the session was a great work out as well.

Melissa Shoes

Firstly, I was a bit late to realise, but this weekend saw the third blogiversary of HiFashion. I wish I'd planned something in advance, but I did manage a cupcake for myself to celebrate with. Just a massive thanks to everyone who's read, commented etc here. I would never have thought, when Leia and I first put this blog together, that it would become such a massive part of my life and who I am.

Anyway, now onto an outfit, once again, focused around a gorgeous pair of shoes. I recently discovered Melissa Shoes and when I saw them on sale, I knew I had to have a brightly coloured pair for myself. Melissa produce plastic shoes from recyclable materials and, so, are cruelty free. How's that for ethical fashion? These heels look gorgeous, elegant and are also really comfortable, so are the perfect pair of heels for any girl's wardrobe. I think a pair of Melissa flats are on the cards for me next!

Oh and they smell so sweet. Seriously! I knew some Melissa shoes had a light scent to them, but was surprised at how strong and sweet the smell actually is. It's pretty amazing and the smell is actually meant to last as well.

I paired the heels with a black ASOS dress, a Max C belt, Hollister cardigan and necklace gifted by Susie (via Jewelmint I believe).

The Dorchester and Marks & Spencer

Thought I'd do a quick update on a few interesting press events I've been to.

First up, I headed over to The Dorchester to check out the Anndra Neen line, which was the winner of The Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize. The Dorchester is an absolutely beautiful hotel and I love walking around it. The décor, especially, is gorgeous. The winners were really talented and the jewellery was stunning. It was really unique and inspired by the Mexican heritage that the two sisters behind the line share.

I also headed over to the M&S SS12 Showcase and loved all the summer pieces. There were gorgeously coloured dresses and lingerie, as well as special collections and food for Mothers Day, Valentines Day and Easter.

For Valentines day, there was a lot of red, as well as really pretty flowers and delicious looking boxes of Chocolates. This was one of my favourite things to look at, and there were baskets of chocolates every couple of steps, for us to try out, so I got to do my fair share of sampling.
The Easter collection was my favourite though. Easter is always about the fun pastel colours, and chocolate eggs, and the selection at Marks & Spencer looks like it will be to die for. We were also able to decorate Easter Eggs with little faces, which was a lot of fun to do. You can see a picture of the Easter display on the bottom row, and it looked amazing.

I was also pampered by Regdale Hall, who specialise in beauty products. They are a spa, based near Leicester, and this is their first line, exclusive to M&S. I got my hands exfoliated, scrubbed and massaged, and really noticed a difference. The products worked really well and smelt gorgeous. I would definitely recommend you head over to M&S and check them out when they're officially launched.

John Frieda: Style on Demand

I'm pretty easy going and low maintainence when it comes to getting ready and going out. I can wear next to no make up or wear the same pair of jeans for a few days, but one thing I'm really intense about is having good hair. I refuse to leave the house if there's even a smidge of a bad hair day, and I actually have 3 straighteners and 2 curlers in my room, as well as a lot of different products from different brands. I'm also on a never ending mission to find easy and fun new hairstyles to try myself.

John Frieda is one of the brands I live on and their Frizz Ease Smoothing Creme has been one of my must-have products these last few months. Their Frizz Ease range is one I've been using for ages as it works really well on my hair.
I was really excited to hear that John Frieda have launched a new Youtube Channel, containing some great how-to hair videos, called Style on Demand. There are 8 videos, each with great step-by-step guides for some on-trend hairstyles. I love how hair brands do videos like this as it's a great way to learn some new hairstyles, as well as get the most out of your hair products.

This video below was definitely my favourite. It's for the California Waves style, which will be a perfect style for a casual Summers day when it gets warm again. It's a nice and natural look, and stylist, Giles Robinson, explains how to recreate the look easily.

As it looked so easy, I decided to give it a go myself, and loved the end result. Although I didn't do it on wet hair, I still think I managed to master the look.

I parted my hair into various sections, then used a large barrel tong to curl. My hair is pretty long and thick, so large barrel tongs are a perfect way to control my curls. I curled it section by section, then half tied it up at the end, and love how casual this look is.

(Clearly, I'm still a poser when I do my hair :))

I can't wait to have a look through the rest of the videos and try out some of the other hairstyles as well.

Rigby and Peller - Behind The Scenes

I have so many great experiences as a blogger, but this one was probably one of my favourites. Yesterday, I was invited by luxury lingerie specialists, Rigby and Peller, to hang around behind the scenes at one of their photoshoots, and it was definitely a lot of fun.

The shoot, called 'Sculpting Shapes for Different Weights', is based around women of all shapes and sizes, and shows that Rigby and Peller can cater to the needs of any woman, no matter her size. The Campaign itself is amazing. Rigby and Peller asked women who worked in their stores to put their names forward to take part in the shoot and model the range to show that it is a brand for real women.
It was great seeing these women modelling the lingerie and they were all radiating confidence, as well as being super gorgeous and glamorous.

The location was absolutely amazing and we did spend a lot of time joking about moving in ourselves. It was beautifully white washed all over and had some really lovely, vintage-esque style furniture.

What was great was that the models were having a lot of fun throughout the shoot. There were lots of giggles and the photographer was amazing, making it such a perfect atmosphere for taking photos.

We also got a chance for a quick interview with a two of the women, who came from the Kings Road store and they seemed like they were having a great day. When asked why they put their names forward to appear in the campaign, they said it was a great idea for women of all different body types to stand up in lingerie and not be scared. They went on to say that they loved being treated like a star and loved the photos that they'd seen from the shoot so far.

It was so much fun hanging around and seeing everything that goes in to a photoshoot. The campaign is great for confidence, and this is what Rigby and Peller are all about. It was absolutely fantastic to see real women modelling the styles and once the pictures go live in stores and online, the reaction from shoppers is sure to be really positive.

Take 10 Challenge 19: Zign Shoes

Time for another Take 10 Challenge, this time featuring my favourite bit of clothing: Shoes!! Zalando sponsored us this time, and let us pick any pair of shoes from German brand, Zign.

I never really thought I'd see myself buying a pair of Moccasins ever, but I fell in love when I saw them on the website. They didn't let me down either when I got them in hand. The shoes are fur lined and so comfortable that I was able to walk in them all day.

I was also surprised at how stylish they looked. I loved them paired with my skinny jeans from A Wear, Tesco tank and Topshop jumper (stolen from Susie). I think, come Summer, I'd also be able to wear them with a cute skirt and top. I absolutely love the colour of them as well. I think these are fast becoming one of my favourite pairs of shoes...EVER.

Walk This Way

As you know, my blogger BFF, Susie, is in London and is sleeping on my floor for a few days. We've had so much fun catching up (although we're on the phone everyday anyway) and having fun, girly days.

I thought I'd do a post of what we've been up over the last few days. We've been doing several different brunches in Crouch End, and had one with Marin and Daniela on Sunday, where we went to one of my local parks afterwards as well.

I'll share the outfit from the park in a few days, but here are a few details from it. This Skull necklace was a Christmas present from Susie and I absolutely love it. I'm a massive skull fan anyway, and this one has the perfect amount of edginess.It's from the Scandinavian brand, Sakdidet Road, and I'm obsessed with some of their pieces now as well!

I also stole this super cute Topshop jumper from Susie. Safe to say, it's not going back to Scotland with her.

On Sunday evening, we also went to the The Diner, near Carnaby Street, and briefly hung out with Reena as well. We had so much fun making little videos, and Susie edited them to make this really cool one.

The soundtrack is Run DMC/Aerosmith 'Walk This Way', which is one of my favourite songs ever, and is also my new anthem. You can check out my incredible air drumming skills at 17 seconds. Warning, the video is pretty hilarious, especially my awesome dancing skills.

We also managed a hang out session with Rachel in central London. We went into Selfridge's and hung out in their new Library for a while, which is my new favourite place in London. There are thousands of books on shelf's for you to pick and read. They've put in really comfortable sofa's and even a section that has headphones connected, where you can listen to audio versions of bits of books.
After that we headed to Vapianos, one of my favourite restaurants, and we grabbed some dinner.

Little White Tee

So, we've heard of the LBD etc, but I've recently discovered the LWT (the Little White Tee). I found this in H&M and bought it on a whim (and since then, have seen many people wear it). I kinda love the t-shirt. H&M seemed to have upp-ed their game in terms of cotton, so the t-shirt is great quality and really soft.

My jeans are H&M as well, and the shoes are Deichmann. These were possible the quickest outfit shots ever taken, in the history of outfit shots. It was FREEZING outside, and you can clearly see the frost on the grass in the garden. I literally ran out, got my mum to do the pictures, and ran back in and threw on my coat.

What do you think of my bag? Isn't it pretty amazing? It was kindly sent over by Accessories Direct and is leather. It's beautiful, and can actually fit a lot in. Accessories Direct have such a huge range of jewellery and bags, such as cross body bags, and the accessories are perfect for any occasion.

I love my bag, which is from the Kate Benjamin collection, which has a lot of other really gorgeous pieces. My favourite thing about it is the length of the strap, making it versatile, so you can wear it cross body or over the shoulder. I also love how it folds down, so you can make it big or small, depending on how much you have in your bag.

Ted Baker and Playful Promises

I finally got back into the swing of things yesterday. It felt good running around and checking out some gorgeous collections at events.

First up, I went to Ted Baker's Spring Summer Catwalk Preview. I had a lot of fun there and it was an amazing fashion show. Ted Baker definitely know how to host a catwalk show. There were hot male models, blankets for the audience, beautiful dresses and even confetti at the end. There was a huge variety of clothes, such as menswear, womenswear and evening where, which consisted of some amazing pieces.

The men were all amazingly dressed, whether it was casual or special. I love a well dressed guy, and by the looks of it, my dream guy is a 'Ted Baker Guy'. (Also, can you see how everyone got blankets? Amazing). There was a huge variety of clothes and trends including florals, primary colours and nautical. The floral maxi dress was stunning, and I loved the striped skirt, with the red blazer. The later was such a perfect look, and one that I will be trying out myself.

The evening and occasion wear was stunning beyond words. Seriously, these pictures do not do the pieces justice. The two black dresses are bound to be staple pieces, with the first one being a sure favourite. The red dress was my ultimate favourite piece from the whole show. It was a beautiful colour and I loved the asymmetrical hemline. The show ended spectacularly. There was confetti coming from the ceiling as the models walked around in some amazing gowns and suits. The white and greenish ones were my favourites from the evening wear. They'd be perfect for a wedding!

I was also invited to BoxPark, in Shoreditch, to check out the Playful Promises store. For those who don't know, BoxPark is pretty awesome. It's a pop up shopping mall, made up entirely of shipping containers. That's right: each brand has a shipping container to themselves, and it looks amazing. I've been a few times since it opened and can't get enough of it. It's right next to Shoreditch High Street Overground, so if you're ever around, I definitely recommend a trip down.

Anyway, Playful Promises invited me to check out the store and take a few goodies home with me. The lingerie is really beautiful, especially since it is vintage inspired. I'm a massive fan of pretty lingerie, so I'm always up for discovering a new brand, and Playful Promises will definitely be a new go-to for me.

I was really impressed by the collection, and everything was the softest silk material, so you know it'll be comfortable. It was really retro inspired, as well as fun, girly and pretty: everything lingerie should be. I loved the black pointy bra, and it was something I could see Madonna in, during her hey day. There was a 'Lost At Sea' collection of brightly coloured underwear (see bottom row) and each one had a cheeky little design on the back, which is fun on a whole new level.
I was also impressed to see things such as jewellery (sorry it's misspelt on the collage), shoes and clothes. The jewellery was gorgeous and the shoes were the most incredible heels. There were also pretty dresses and blouses. The red/pink dress was a particular favourite of mine. I love the shape and how it is cinched in at the waist, making it nice and fitted.

Inspirations: 11/01/2012

I've had so much fun putting together little inspiration boards these last few weeks, so I thought I'd make it into a regular feature. I've also become really obsessed with spending hours on Pinterest (You can follow my pins here) and making collages on Picasa.

Here's what's been inspiring me this week:

1. One of my favourite things to wear is Plaid. I live in it throughout the year and love how it's styled here, with the leather jacket and ripped jeans. I bought a similar pair of jeans from H&M, but sadly the fitting is atrocious, so they have to go back.

2. I love this nude look. I attempted nude over the summer and can't wait to get out my nude heels and dresses again. I think this girl looks fantastic. I love the hat and shoes.

3. My main New Years Resolution is learning how to cook. I can make pasta and eggs, but I really need to learn how to cook proper food. Any tips?

4. For those of you who don't know, I used to do some boxing a few years ago. I absolutely loved doing it and I'm dying to take it up again this year. I'm just looking for the perfect gym/class to get started again. I still have my bright pink boxing gloves!

5. My blogger BFF Susie is visiting tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to a lot of fun with her. Nothing compares to the fun and laughter of hanging out with good friends.

6. Fashion Week is exactly one month away and I'm slowly bracing myself for the madness. I have a few shows sorted at the moment and a certain someone managed FROW at a certain big show! Not going to jinx it yet :)

7. I want to be more experimental with my make up and this look is perfect. The pink lipstick and perfectly done coloured eyeliner is making me itch to play around with my make up more. And as we all know, I LOVE eyeliner.

8. It's been raining a lot in London, and I'm not letting it get me down. In fact, I'm enjoying it as much as I can. Once you stop caring that it ruins your hair, there is endless fun to have in the rain.
9. The new sitcom, New Girl, has just started in the UK, and I'm absolutely hooked. I've loved Zooey Deschanel since her 'Tin Man' days and have loved everything she's done since then. She's gorgeous and has such amazing style. She's hilarious in New Girl!
10. You'll remember I went rowing last year, and had so much fun, that I want to get on the water again. Nothing so vigorous, but I can't wait for it to get warmer so I can go on the boats at Regents and Hyde Park for a casual, easy going row.
11. I have so much love for Lana Del Rey. Ever since I heard Video Games a few months ago, I've been such a fun of her music. Born To Die was just as amazing and I'm super excited to get my hands on the album later on next month.
12. I mentioned wanting to incorporate more sequins in my life earlier this week, and this picture makes me want to do it so much more! I'm inspired to buy more sequins and work them into my everyday wardrobe in a casual way.

A Walk in the Park

Sometimes it's nice to take the time to just relax and wander your favourite park, no matter how cold it is. In my case, my favourite park is Alexandra Palace, in North London, and I'm lucky as it's my local park and I can walk up whenever I want. You can see the whole of London from the top, including the BT Tower and Canary Wharf.

I wandered up with Marin after brunch and we spent the whole of Sunday walking around the park. We did everything from admiring the view, finding wild deer, playing with the ducks and hanging on the swings. They also have a year round Ice Skating rink, and a funfair, Boat lake and mini golf course, which are open over the summer, as well as gigs, so the 'Ally Pally' really is one of my favourite parks of London.

I wore a jumper, with my H&M coat on top, A Wear jeans and my amazing new Clarks Original Desert boot, which are one of my newest Sarenza buys. Although, the poor shoes did get a bit muddy while we were walking in the park, they did cope well and were super comfortable for the hours and hours of walking.

The Desert boot has become a bit of an iconic shoe this last year or so, and I'd been meaning to try it since the amazing Florence (from Florence and the Machine) was spotted in them at Glastonbury. I love how mine, the Yarra, have a wedge to them, making them more a bit more girly, and the shoes definitely live up to all the compliments they get. They look so stylish and are so comfortable. I was on my feet, shopping, all afternoon and the shoes were nothing but comfortable. Clarks are known for uber comfortable shoes, and the insides are cushioned, making them great to wear all day.

The above picture is me with Leo The Brass Lion. I love him! Growing up, I would spend hours playing on him, and seeing him again bought back all my childhood memories!!

#SequinsMonday

We all know Mondays are slightly more 'grim' than the rest of the week, so in an attempt to brighten things up, Susie and Daniela came up with '#SequinsMonday' (Twitter tag), where you wear sequins on a Monday to brighten up the day and be positive for the rest of the week.
I was all up in it for getting into this, so when I saw this black skirt from Boohoo, I knew I had to have it.

I paired it with a slouchy t-shirt to make it more casual and wearable for an everyday look, but then glammed things up with these beautiful Elite Heels, from Sarenza. Despite the size of the heel, they were surprisingly comfortable. They also have a gorgeous chain along the front and purple soles to make them really stand out against the standard black heels. They are probably one of the prettiest heels in my shoe collection.

Understated and Simple

A t-shirt and jeans combination is probably one of the most understated of looks, but it is one that works countless times. You can add heels and jewellery to glam it up, or add trainers to make it casual. Either way it always looks great and never requires too much thought.

Although I've been wearing a lot of skirts and dresses recently, t-shirt and jeans is still one of my go-to's, especially now that it's colder.

The black skinny jeans and the t-shirt are both from Republic, and I love them. I'd been looking for the perfect black skinnies for ages, and these ones have been great, while the t-shirt was really comfortable.

I finished the look with a lovely pair of faux fur lined heels, kindly sent over by Deichmann and some jewellery. Needless to to say, as a shoe-aholic, I'm a massive fan of Deichmann shoes right now. Affordable, style and long lasting: yes please. These ones are also really comfortable and go with so much, not to mention the fur lining kept my feet warm all day, while I was out shopping with my parents.

I also wore my new owl ring, which was courtesy of Cutie Pie. Isn't it the cutest? Cutie Pie focus on really cute and vintage inspired jewellery and the owl ring is no exception. I've been wearing it a lot as it's such a fun little thing. I am absolutely obsessed with it. Head on over to the website: they have some amazing pieces.

Inspirations: 06.01.2012

Seeing as the last inspiration post went so well, here's another filled with my inspirations:

1. This is Brian Fallon: One of my musical legends. He is front man of The Gaslight Anthem and Horrible Crowes, and part of the Revival Tour, with Chuck Reagan, making him very talented. I ~~met~~ saw him from a distance after a show once and he's really nice as well as amazing live.

2. Despite owning tons of heels, I'll always be a Vans Girl at heart. They're the most comfortable shoe and I can't wait to wear them with skirts again over the summer.

3. I want to be her...sitting where she is, on an empty beach, in the sun.

4. I wish I could look as glamorous as this girl while shopping. Taken by photographer Olivia Graham for Grazia Magazine, it's such a gorgeous picture.

5. Ben Barnes is a beautifully gorgeous guy, and a great actor. We all know him as Prince Caspian, but he's fantastic in Dorian Gray and Killing Bono. He's definitely one of my favourite actors.

6. Blogger and model Hanneli Mustaparta is gorgeous and looks perfect in this ensemble. I'll definitely be trying it out for myself.

7. Emma Stone is one of my favourite actresses. I love this kick ass look of hers, which she wore in Zombieland (great movie). She's gorgeous and really talented.

8. I'm the hugest bookworm ever, and have spent a lot of the holidays in bed, with various books. I love getting away from the real world for a while and just reading.

9. I'm really in the mood to just fly away and go on holiday somewhere. I love travelling and experiencing new cutlures, and also love sitting on planes, where there's no phone reception! I have a few holidays already booked for next year, which I'm really excited for.

10. Again another picture I can't source, but I think it's so beautiful. The model looks so natural and simple, but also really classic and well put together.

11. I thought Lucy Hale did a great job with this Vans campaign, with Vans Girls. She looks really cool and it's such a fun look.

12. Likewise with Vans, I'm a massive Converse fan. I still have more Converses than anything else and they've always been my go-to for most occasions.

13. I have a very soft spot for old school muscle cars, such as Mustangs and Chargers, so naturally I really want to be this glam girl, next to the awesome car. Both the girl and the car look amazing.

Very's £50 Challenge

Before Christmas, Very got in touch asking me to pick something from the website, up to £50, that would be a staple for me over the Christmas period.

I decided on this gorgeous A-line cut out dress from the Love Label Range and it really is perfect for either dressing up or dressing down.

It's such a lovely blue colour, paired with the cut out detailing along the neckline guarantee that it'll make a statement when you're out and about. The fitting is also amazing. It's nice and floaty and looks great on.

I've managed to style it two ways so far:

I slightly glammed it up for my first look, with some red accessories. My red heels are Steve Madden and my belt is Max C. I thought it's be nice to match my accessories and really cinch my waist with a wide belt. A perfect outfit for a party!

My second look was a lot more casual, and one that could easily be worn while shopping over the summer. I switched the heels for a pair of floral flats (Accessorize) and added my trusted Fedora (Camden) to make it even more cool. I love this hat more and more every time I wear it.

Wear it your way

If you don't already know, I've spent the last few weeks writing for the Republic blog, Wear It Your Way, as a guest writer, which they have a new one of every month. I've been a fan of Republic for ages and absolutely love their clothes, so have had a great time writing for the blog, and getting to try out some clothes as well.

The first outfit featured this gorgeous coloured skirt, from Republic, which I paired with a plain H&M Tee and Clarks booties.

The second featured a lovely navy skirt, from Republic, and I loved how well it fitted. I paired it with a grey Matalan tee and New Look wedges.

Hi 2012

So, we're officially in the year 2012. I really feel like we should have flying cars by now, right? Anyway, hope you all had an amazing start to the New Year. It definitely feels good to be posting again, regularly and properly.

I wore this outfit in those 'non-existent' days that take place between Christmas and the New Year. I really love how this outfit came out though and it was really comfortable while shopping at Westfield.

I'm wearing Ganni knitted hat, a tee from Hot Tuna, Republic jeans and Deichmann booties. The t-shirt is the softest ever and I love the skull print on it. I get more and more obsessed with Hot Tuna with every purchase, and can really see myself wearing this tee a lot when it gets warmer again. Now that Christmas is over, there really is no point to the cold now, is there...unless it snows?

I've was also sent these amazing work-style boots from Deichmann. I got a pair last year as well, which I still wear constantly, so was very excited when they offered to send over two pairs this time round. The first are these really cool short laced boots. I know workman style boots have been on everyone's feet lately and they're such a great trend. They instantly add cool points to any outfit and these are no different. I love how they are already a bit worn looking and they are so comfortable. Expect to see them again for sure!!

While browsing the website, I was also surprised to see how stylish and affordable all the shoes were. Definitely a website that should be on every shoe lover's radar.

Happy New Year everyone!!! Hope that 2012 is an amazing year for you. 2011 was probably the best year ever for me. I did so much fun stuff and met some fabulous people that I really can't wait to get started on another year. Here's hoping that 2012 will be just as amazing, if not better.

In terms of resolutions, I haven't really thought of any yet! I guess I'll just see how it goes over the year, rather than make any concrete resolutions. My resolution for 2011 was to have more fun and just enjoy life, and I wholeheartedly did this. Maybe to do exactly what I did in 2011? Or the same resolution as everyone else: get in shape!!

Inspirations: 30.12.2011

I think I've only given a sneak peek into my inspirations once before, so I thought it was time to do it again and share what's really inspired me in 2011. I've linked where I can, but a lot of the time, I've saved an image straight onto my computer, without a care in the world, not thinking that I'll be sharing it. So, if you do recognise a picture (or it's one of yours), give me a heads up (read: don't sue) and I'll be sure to credit the appropriate source.

1. I have no idea where this picture is from or who the model is...but I love it. I love the way she's casually sitting, looking gorgeous, while wearing the beautiful heels and jumper.

2. I'm a sucker for anything '60's, which is why Bridgette Bardot is a clear style inspiration for me. I love her hair in this picture, and have attempted it myself many times.

3. Some nail inspiration from blogger, Tiffany AKA Will Work For Make Up. The nails here are gorgeous and so festive. I'm supporting similar glittery nails right now as well.

4. Chanel. Pretty heels; Pretty Jewellery. Need I say more?

5. Blake Lively for Glamour is one of my favourite all time editorials. Again, I love the 60's vibe to it, especially her hair and make up, and adore the yellow she's wearing.

6. Visiting The Northern Lights is one of the few things on my Bucket List. I can imagine them to be absolutely stunning and breathtaking.

7. This editorial of Ashley Olsen has her looking gorgeous, as usual. Once again, the clear retro make up has found a place in my heart.

8. I love live music and went to a lot of gigs this year. I already have 5 gigs planned for 2012 (including Foster The People), which I'm really looking forward to. For me, nothing compares to watching live music.

9. It's pretty cold in London right now, but I'd love for it to get cold enough for it to snow. I really want to bundle up in my winter knits and have some snow fights.

10. 2011 was the year that my heel collection grew to an unimaginable size. I love walking around in heels and love the confidence I get from them, and these black pumps are so elegant, especially paired with the nude skirt.

11. I love Alison Sudol AKA A Fine Frenzy. I love her hair, I love her music and I love the inspirational humanitarian work that she does. I also love her casual, laid back style, especially the hat here.

12. I am obsessed with The Hunger Games. I read the book in two days and I'm super excited for the movie now. Another positive is that it stars Josh Hutcherson, who is HOT! I first became a fan of his during Cirque du Freak, and have loved him ever since.

13. A gorgeous picture from a MinkPink campaign. I love how fun it is and how the girls are having such a good time. A lot of the MinkPink pictures look like the girls are having a ton of fun, which is fantastic.

Spring/Summer Hair with ghd

This post is very overdue but, a few months ago, I was invited to a breakfast held by ghd, to discuss the latest hair trends for SS12. ghd were backstage at various LFW shows, so they definitely knew what they were doing, and creative director, Kenna, had some amazing hairstyles on show for us.

We were treated to a delicious breakfast, while Kenna showed some of the hairstyles and gave us a step by step on how to do them.

All the hairstyles looked great and Kenna made them seem so easy to do, so I'll definitely be trying them out for myself come Spring/Summer. Here's the inspiration behind each of the styles and ghd's instructions on ho to achieve each of them:

It's A Kind Of Magic: Seen at Aminaka Wilmont to create a fairytale, almost elf-like, style where the ears are visible and hair is deliberately undone.

Use Volume Foam and Curl Hold Spray (both from ghd) and dry them into the hair with a hairdryer. Then, create a centre parting and section off a diagonal back section to the top of the ear. Clip these away and bend the hair slightly so it sits away from the head with a straightener (the ghd Gold Max Styler). Spray the front smooth, and straighten your hair, making it sleek. Add five small plaits at the back of your hair and clamp then with straighteners to set them in place, and once cool, unravel them to release soft, slightly frizzy waves which you can brush through. Spray the style into place and, finally, tuck a small panel of hair behind the ears to expose them.

Walk The Line: Seen at David Koma, it was a more masculine look and had graphic lines and structure to give it a strong sense of symmetry.

Blow dry your hair smooth and then straighten it so that it's all glossy. From the centre of the forehead section off a diamond panel that ends an inch below the crown and slick it back using a brush and secure it into place. From the top of the ear to the side point of the diamond section create another section then

divide away small sections from this from the mid-recession diagonal back. And from the back of the earlobe, take another diagonal section to the centre back point of the diamond section and do the same on the other side.

Spray all the sections so that they look neat and that the lines between them are visible and use elastics to keep them flat. Tie up the remaining hair together and spray them. The upper sections should join into the main ponytail at the top of the crown and then be joined by lower sections, creating one ponytail with the hair underneath left out long and straight.

Somewhere Beyond The Sea: Used at Basso and Brooke, it shows that more is more. Hair was damp and it had a homespun feel, with stylists adding loose quiffs and a lot of product for a underwater glistening feel.

This is one of the easiest styles. Apply ghd's Root Lift Spray to give it a natural and waved texture, and use straighteners to create a varied wave shape while bevelling sections of the hair around the irons to create a haphazard bend. Create a natural parting with your hair and backcomb at the crown. Gather your hair into a low ponytail, letting the baby hairs fall out, and add ghd's Smooth and Finish serum to the hairline for a wet look effect.

Gloss It Over: A high shine styled, seen at Maria Grachvogel, that is glossy and able to make a statement. I was backstage at the show, so really got to see how this was done.

Start with ghd's Root Lift Spray and blowdry your hair smooth. Then, using a tailcomb, create a zig zag parting and section off your hair, into two sections, at your hairs. Use hairspray on the front section and pull into a low ponytail. With the back section, gather it into a ponytail and connect the two together. Use a straighter to smooth out the ponytail and spray with gloss spray. Finally bind the ponytail with a leather cord so that it really stands out.

I was also handed the brand new ghd hairdryer at the event, the ghd Airdryer, and I absolutely love it. I have no idea how I lived without it. It works like a charm and even has a 'cooling' function which is a great feature. I definitely recommend it, especially if your hair takes as long to dry as mine. I never used to use hairdryers before, and just let me hair dry naturally, but this is such an easy product to use and works incredibly well and fast.
