Constructed on the rigid foundation of a pressure die-cast aluminium plinth, the Naim Ovator S-600 comprises a visually stunning leaf-spring decoupled enclosure fitted with two custom-designed rigid paper cone bass drivers. Located above the bass drivers, within a nested and leaf-sprung aluminium enclosure, is a uniquely advanced balanced mode radiator. The balanced mode radiator (BMR) reproduces all six octaves from the 380Hz crossover point to well above audibility with a flat frequency response, minimal distortion and consistently wide dispersion. Encasing all of this, the Naim Ovator S-600's striking, curved-panel enclosure is an outstanding example of contemporary aesthetic industrial design. Its form is striking yet subtle and with four real wood veneer finishes available it integrates effortlessly into domestic settings of any style. Music heard through the Naim Ovator S-600 is a revelation. The uncoloured, detailed and natural coherence of the balanced mode radiator combines with the rhythmic clarity and accuracy of the twin bass driver system endlessly to reveal previously unheard musical details and insight. Stereo imagery and recorded ambience is portrayed with scale and depth that remains consistent across the listening room, and with the Ovator S-600 an entire music collection becomes new again. The speaker is the point at which recorded music leaves the virtual world of electronics and is made real. With the Naim Ovator S-600 speakers, the reality is a musical experience unlike any heard before. The enclosure is constructed from a combination of 25mm and 50mm panels comprehensively braced to provide a rigid, non-resonant and low diffraction reference plane for the drivers. Selected panels also benefit from strategic mass-damping, and the internal bracing includes a division that creates separate loading volumes for each bass driver. The Naim Ovator S-600 bass driver features a rigid paper cone and natural rubber surround together with aluminium demodulation rings within the magnet system and generous pole-piece ventilation. Its linearity and resistance to compression is outstanding. The Naim Ovator S-600 Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) is the result of intense effort in both development and manufacture. Not only does the design of such a driver demand great intellectual understanding, but consistent manufacture requires extraordinarily fine specification and control of the physical characteristics of its components. The underlying concept of the (BMR) is to engineer a practical implementation of the theoretically wide bandwidth and linear acoustic output of an unconstrained vibrating diaphragm. In practice, this is achieved by attaching balancing masses to a constrained diaphragm in carefully calculated locations. Such "mode balancing" modifies the diaphragm's vibrational behaviour so that it simultaneously operates in pistonic and vibrational modes to generate wide-bandwidth acoustic output with a flat frequency response, consistent dispersion and low distortion. The Onkyo TXSR707's Audyssey DSX allows owners the choice of incorporating a pair of 'front wide' instead of the usual surround back speakers, placed at around 60 degrees off-centre. When the mode is engaged it enhances the surround-sound experience by adding extra presence and depth to the soundstage. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can also allow additional front speakers to deliver non-directional 'front height' information (effects such as rain etc), in a similar way to DPL IIz With the Onkyo TX-SR707 AV receiver portable audio fans will appreciate the fact that iPod/iPhone connectivity is fully supported as the receivers sport Onkyo's proprietary U.Port (Universal Port). This new standard permits a convenient one-cable connection (no separate power connection required) to add-on modules such as the recently introduced optional UP-A1 dock As well as transmitting high quality audio from your iPod/iPhone to your speakers the UP-A1 also permits the streaming of HD video from the device to your screen, all routed via the Onkyo TX-SR707 and delivered via HDMI at 1080p video resolution. The YSP-40D digital sound projector can actually deliver multi-channel surround sound that surrounds the listeners the same way that a full 5.1 surround speaker system will. Dolby Pro Logic II is also included, so even 2-channel TV sound can be heard in glorious mulit-channel surround. The YSP-40D digital sound projector also has a powerful digital amplifier built in which powers each beam driver at 2W each and the two woofers at 20W each, that's a total of 120W of power from such a compact device. There is no need for any additional amplifier or receiver so the system is completely compact and economical. The YSP-40D digital sound projector creates this astonishing surround experience by applying its sophisticated technology to precisely control the orientation of the sound by focusing it through multiple beams. The centre channel is projected directly while other channels are heard after been reflected off walls. With the Yamaha YSP-40D digital sound projector you get a variety of different settings to choose from which includes "My Surround" and "My Beam" with the listener sitting closer to the unit this "My Surround" will still provide the true surround experience without reflecting the beams off the walls, this is a very useful setting for rooms where for some reason the walls cannot be used. "My Surround" uses a combination of DiMagic and Yamaha technology. The "My Beam" setting focuses the sound at a specific listening position, so even in noisy surroundings you can still hear the dialogue and other sounds clearly, Sonic sensor means that "My Beam" can be selected with the remote control from almost any angle. The Yamaha YSP-40D digital sound projector also includes 5 other selectable "Beam" settings providing a more expansive sound field. One of the many features that The Yamaha YSP-40D digital sound projector comes equipped with is the "IntelliBeam Automated System Calibration" this is Yamahas exclusives feature which ensures optimum multi-channel sound reproduction with accurate image location. By monitoring and analysing the sound with the microphone included the IntelliBeam will automatically set the best beam angles, while optimizing the level and frequency response of each beam. It also offers "Direct Start" function via the remote, this will make the initial setup extremely simple and acoustically perfect. The YSP-40D digital sound projector provides up conversion of video composite and component signals to HDMI. The signal can then be output via a single HDMI cable to a monitor for enjoying high-definition video quality. The output supports 1080p/24Hz, and 50Hz (PAL) or 60Hz (NTSC) video signals, so they can be throughput to a monitor for enjoying high definition video quality. The YSP-40D digital sound projector provides analogue video-upscaling of composite 480i/576i signals and of component 480i/576i or 480p/576p signals to HDMI 1080i/720p resolutions for optimal viewing on high-definition displays. It uses advanced processing including video encoding/decoding ICs from analogue Devices and a TBC (Time Base Corrector) to restore degraded video signals for distortion-free viewing.
