How about these right… I think you’ll find the following nuggets of wisdom particularly insightful. Leave your comments below. Check out the second one in particular…

Acai Berry and High Blood Pressure | Acai Facts Online

Normal blood pressure is less than 120 systolic pressure and 80 diastolic pressure. You are considered to be in the prehypertension stage if your systolic pressure ranges from 120 to 139 and your diastolic pressure is from 80-89. …

The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans » Blog Archive » How’s Your …

great post! wow, that’s quite a scare! my normal blood pressure is 120/60. i’d never thought about blood pressure until my blood pressure was high with my first pregnancy: 120/100 and then higher and then higher. until i delivered …

Two Studies Show Non-Drug Alternatives to Lowering Blood Pressure Blood pressure is used to describe readings measured in millimeters of mercury when taken with a blood pressure machine. Normal blood pressure should be 120 over 80. …

Most women desire to have a higher metabolism is order to further their weight control efforts. Strength training increases muscle mass and increasing muscle mass most definitely will increase an individual’s basal metabolic rate. What this means for females is that they will have a harder time gaining fat as the percentage of lean muscle tissue in their body increases.

Obesity can be greatly reduced by sustained participation in a vigorous weight training combined with a sensible eating plan. Osteoporosis is common among women who do not exercise as they age, strength training is a proactive step women can take to prevent bone density loss. Scientific studies prove that weight bearing exercise increases bone density. Strength training done with moderate resistance also fights aging by strengthening ligaments and tendons. Weight training has also been shown to improve balance by increasing the power or core muscles; which in and of itself will prevent injuries due to falling or stumbling.

Strength training has been shown to decrease blood pressure and increase circulation. Circuit training with weights has been shown to improve cardiovascular fitness. Improved cardiovascular fitness works to prevent cardiovascular disease. Women who strength train can also expect to perform better in sports, activities and life in general. Strength training women have more energy, strength, and stamina for all kinds of activity. Energy, strength, and stamina are factors which can also improve relationships with spouses, friends, and even children.

Who does not want to improve their appearance, confidence and self esteem? These are all improved in women who participate in strength training programs. Depression is a huge issue among the women of America. It is this writer’s contention that much of the mild depression treated with medication could be eased or eliminated by a sustained participation in a vigorous strength training program. Increased self esteem due to improved appearance and health is a natural antidepressant.

Anti-aging medicine is one of the fastest growing industries in our country today, strength training is almost always prescribed as part of the Anti-aging doctor’s overall program. Strength training helps women naturally age more gracefully because it naturally fights the decrease in muscle mass, strength and flexibility that comes with aging.

The benefits to women that strength training can provide are myriad, this writer doubts there are few if any women who would not desire to have the benefits provided by weight training. Ladies, it is time to put down the laziness and procrastination that has stopped you from self improvement. Start today and improve your life.

Cardiovascular Exercise And Diabetes

Cardiovascular, or cardio, training involves exercise in which a person’s heart rate increases to a higher than normal rate. This type of workout, also called aerobic exercise, can be especially beneficial for people with diabetes because it can help burn extra glucose in the body and also decrease resistance to insulin.

A good cardio exercise routine has many positive health effects, such as:

•Improving muscle strength
•Reducing body fat
•Increasing energy levels
•Lowering blood pressure
•Increasing the level of good cholesterol
•Decreasing the risk of coronary artery disease
•Strengthening the heart
•Improving control of blood sugar levels
•Improving circulation
The most important aspect of a cardio routine can also be the most difficult to achieve, that is, regularity. The maximum benefits of cardio training are realized when someone exercises on most days of the week. This is because the effects of the exercise aren’t permanent, although they are accumulative. For instance, research from Duke University suggests that when the exercise is done regularly for the long term, then it can significantly help the body process blood sugar levels, but if the exercise is only done once, then the effects only last for approximately one day.

Concerns for People with Diabetes
As always, people with diabetes should keep their healthcare providers well informed of anything that can affect their health. Exercise, especially, falls into this category. Talk to your doctor about what kind of exercise is best for you, and be sure to discuss any questions or concerns that arise as your exercise program progresses.
People with diabetes need to pay particular attention to their feet during exercise. The American Diabetes Association suggests using silica gel or air midsoles as well as polyester or cotton-polyester socks to prevent blisters and keep the feet dry.

A Cardio Training Program
A cardio training program aims to increase breathing capacity and improve overall health. Cardio work gets the heart beating faster, is rhythmic, and involves the large muscle groups, such as those in the legs. Generally, the program will start at a certain level, and then it will increase gradually as endurance is built.
Many types of physi
1000
cal activity can be categorized as cardio exercise, including:

•Jogging or running
•Walking or hiking
•Bicycling
•Using a stair step or elliptical machine
•Cross-country skiing
•Rowing
•Dancing
•Swimming
How a person structures his or her exercise program will depend on individual variables related to overall health and current fitness level. Because people with diabetes often have complicated health concerns, it’s very important to talk with a doctor or healthcare provider before beginning a cardio training regimen.
Many cardio exercise programs will specify how often, how long, and how hard a person should exercise. Often the workout will involve short periods of intense activity, followed by periods of lower-intensity exercise. A healthcare team can help determine the best workout for an individual. Personal trainers are also helpful for setting up a program, and many gyms provide this service.

Achieving and maintaining a higher-than-normal heart rate is the basic goal of a cardiovascular workout. Different people have different “target” heart rates and will want to maintain those rates for different lengths of time. Heart-rate monitors can help determine measurements, or there are other ways to tell when an optimal exercise level has been reached. A doctor or healthcare provider can help with these determinations.

Elements of a Cardio Workout
There are four phases to an aerobic workout:
Phase 1: Warm up (5-10 minutes): The goal is to get the heart rate up to about 50 to 60% of the target rate.

Phase 2: Stretching (5-10 minutes): Stretching the muscles helps avoid injury and prepares them for more rigorous activity.

Phase 3: Activity (30-40 minutes): This is the main exercise. Times will vary depending on fitness level.

Phase 4: Cool down (5-10 minutes): The period during which the heart rate gradually resumes its normal level.

At Home or in a Gym?
Once the doctor gives the OK to begin cardio training, it’s time to explore different exercise options. It might be easier to begin at a gym where the staff can explain cardio exercise machines and help develop a program that it suitable for an individual’s needs.
When joining a gym, ask some questions first. Find out whether the staff is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. Ask what experience they have in working with clients who have diabetes. Also, see if the gym offers a trial membership. Many gyms offer a free day or a free week or more to try out their facility.

For some people, however, it will be just as easy to work alone. Jogging and walking are good individual aerobic exercises. Exercising with a partner can help if motivation begins to fade.

Getting More Information
The best place to get more information about cardio workouts is by talking to your healthcare team. Ask them what kind of exercise and at what intensity would be best for your individual needs.
People new to aerobic activity might find it helpful to take a look at About.com’s “Cardio for Beginners” or consider working with a personal trainer or physical therapist at first. These professionals can help you learn the basic principles of the activity, determine and monitor your target heart rate, and develop an overall plan.

Importance Of Magnesium For Good Health

Magnesium plays a vital role in the human body. This mineral is found in plants as well as animals. This mineral is very useful to the plants in the process of photosynthesis and serves the part as a metabolic reaction in the animals. There are about 300 biochemical processes in the human body which has the requirement of magnesium.

The bones in the human body make use of magnesium. Half of the proportion of magnesium is found in the bones. It is useful in the production of the hormone named calcitonin. This hormone is useful in the production of calcium in the bones. The level of acidity in the blood is controlled by this hormone as there are chances of weakening the bone structure due to higher levels of acid. It is advisable that the children as well as the adults should always take the doses of magnesium. Due to lower levels of this mineral, there are chances of developing the illness and diseases in the body.

The neuromuscular activities of the heart are controlled by this important mineral thereby, helps in beating the heart regularly. The person’s blood pressure can be kept normal for a long period of time with the help of magnesium.

According to the research work done by the National Research Council, the individuals require about 300-400 mg of magnesium on the daily basis. For the adult males, the quantity of this mineral is about 350 mg a day and for the adult women, it is about 280 mg a day. This amount should be increased to about 420 mg for the pregnant women and during the time of breastfeeding. Children depending on different size and weight require about 130 mg of magnesium per day.

The best advice I can give for high blood pressure help is you should throw away your hypertension medication! But let me first explain myself before you throw away your expensive high blood pressure pills. As a natural health expert, I tell my customers these three things about hypertension medication.

First off, since your taking medication to lower your high blood pressure, you probably know that they are expensive. Especially, since everything else is on the rise with the current fuel prices. It is in fact, cheaper to naturally treat this disease than to buy medication. Secondly, high blood pressure is one of the simplest, yet deadliest, diseases to cure naturally! And thirdly, if you have been taking the medication for more than 6 months, it might be a wise idea to wean yourself off the medication before you toss them.

The Truth about High Blood Pressure Medication

This year alone, over 60 million people in the United States were diagnosed with high blood pressure. Unfortunately, and sometimes fatally, most of these hypertension sufferers were recommended harmful drugs to treat the ‘silent killer’. And even more unfortunately, these patients will be taking meds the rest of their life.

However, currently a committee of government officials decided to lower the measuring standards for “normal” blood pressure. What does this mean for us? The consequence of this will be that millions of sufferers who had “normal” pressure will now fall into “pre-hypertension” stage.

And they can do this because high blood pressure is the ‘silent killer’ meaning that it simply has NO side-effects. The first sign of hypertension is a heart attack. Therefore, many people who are taking medication and are content with “normal” blood pressure. They are still at risk of hypertension and possibly a heart attack.

Secondly, hypertension medication is addictive. The body becomes severely dependent upon it over an extended period of time. With that said, you can wean yourself off the medication in a few months and naturally treat high blood pressure.

Thirdly, hypertension medication is also ladened with side-effects. Whatever medication you are taking (whether your body has adjusted to the side effects or not), you might want to think back and consider the small side effects that plague your body. And unfortunately, we have come to accept the side effects because we ‘think’ we NEED the medication to live!

We don’t because of 3 reasons!

Harvard Research Reveals Truth about High Blood Pressure Cure

A recent Harvard research project revealed that it is completely possible to cure hypertension naturally with 3 high blood pressure tips. You can have high blood pressure help by making changes such as losing weight, increasing your activity level and eating the correct nutrition plan (an addition to vitamins and supplements).

With the current research, scientists have found that our bodies are equipped with an internal intelligence which allows the body to heal itself naturally (if given the right tools).

For instance, according to research published in 1995 in the Archives of Internal Medicine, reducing diastolic blood pressure by just 2 mm Hg would result in a 6% reduction in the risk of coronary artery disease and a 15% reduction in risk of stroke and transient ischemic attacks.

And you can do this single handedly with your diet! Imagine what you can do if you add some breathing exercises and the correct vitamins.

My blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day, is that normal?

My blood pressure at night or in the morning when relaxed can get as low as 95/60, but when active or stressed can jump up to 155/95. is it normal for blood pressure to fluctuate that way with the hussle and buzzle of everyday life? My blood pressure always returns back to normal when relaxed or at rest. I am just wondering if this is normal?

by: Anthony Kane, MD

Introduction

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a psychiatric behavior disorder that is characterized by aggressiveness and a tendency to purposefully bother and irritate others. These behaviors cause significant difficulties with family and friends and at school or work.

Oppositional defiant disorder is sometimes a precursor of conduct disorder. Much of the literature tends to lump these two conditions together. However, they seem to be distinct entities and, although conduct disorder does have a genetic component, ODD does not.

Description

Oppositional defiant children show a consistent pattern of refusing to follow commands or requests by adults. These children repeatedly lose their temper, argue with adults, and refuse to comply with rules and directions. They are easily annoyed and blame others for their mistakes. Children with ODD show a pattern of stubbornness and frequently test limits, even in early childhood.

These children can be manipulative and often induce discord in those around them. Commonly they can incite parents and other family members to fight with one and other rather than focus on the child, who is the source of the problem.

Behavioral Symptoms

Common behaviors seen in oppositional defiant disorder include:

	Losing one’s temper
Arguing with adults
Actively defying requests
Refusing to follow rules
Deliberately annoying other people
Blaming others for one’s own mistakes or misbehavior
Being touchy, easily annoyed
Being easily angered, resentful, spiteful, or vindictive.
Speaking harshly, or unkind when upset
Seeking revenge
Having frequent temper tantrums

Many parents report that their ODD children were rigid and demanding from an early age.

Normal children, especially around the ages or 2 or 3 or during the teenage years display most of these behaviors from time to time. When children are tired, hungry, or upset, they may be defiant. However, children with oppositional defiant disorder display these behaviors more frequently and to the extent that they and interfere with learning, school adjustment, and, sometimes, with the child’s social relationships.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis of ODD is not always straight forward and needs to be made by a psychiatrist or some other qualified mental health professional after a comprehensive evaluation. The child must be evaluated for other disorders as well since ODD usually does not come alone. If the child has ADHD, mood disorders, or anxiety disorders, these other problems must be addressed before you can begin to work with the ODD.

If you feel your child may have ODD, there is a quick screening test. Go to: http://addadhdadvances.com/ODDtest.html

Causes

What is the cause of ODD? The real answer is that nobody knows. However, since as scientist we hate to admit this, we have currently have two theories.

The developmental theory proposes that ODD is really a result of incomplete child development. For some reason, these children never complete the developmental tasks that normal children learn to master during the toddler years.

The learning theory suggests that ODD comes as a response to negative interactions. The techniques used by parents and authority figures on these children bring about the oppositional defiant behavior.

ODD is the most common psychiatric diagnosis in children and it usually persists into adulthood. One would think a lot of research would be done on this condition. That is not the case. While there are hundreds of research studies on ADHD and childhood mood disorders, there is very little research on ODD.

Co-morbidity

ODD is frequently goes along with other disorders. 50-65% of ODD children also have ADHD. 35% of these children develop some form of affective disorder. 20% have some form of mood disorder, such as depression or anxiety. 15% develop some form of personality disorder. These children frequently have learning disorders and academic difficulties.

If your child has ODD it is important to know there are other co-existing problems. These other problems usually must be addressed before you can begin to help your child with ODD.

Prognosis

So what happens to these children? There are four possible paths.

Some will grow out of it. Half of the preschoolers that are labeled ODD are normal by the age of 8. However, in older ODD children, 75% will still fulfill the diagnostic criteria later in life.
The ODD may turn into something else. 5-10 % of preschoolers with ODD have their diagnosis changed from ODD to ADHD. In some children, the defiant behavior gets worse and these children eventually are diagnosed with Conduct Disorder. This progression usually happens fairly early. If a child has ODD for 3-4 years and he hasn’t developed Conduct Disorder, then he won’t ever develop it.
The child may continue to have ODD without any thing else. This is unusual. By the time preschoolers with ODD are 8 years old, only 5% have ODD and nothing else.
The child develops other disorders in addition to ODD. This is very common.

Treatment

Most of these children have some other disorder along with their ODD. Treating this other disorder is the key to proper ODD management. This frequently means giving medication. Although this type of medical intervention does not make the children “normal”, it can make a big difference. It often allows other non-medical interventions to work much better.

For example, if a child has both ODD and ADHD, then giving the child Ritalin may have a significant effect on his ODD, also. This positive effect does not seem to be related to the severity of the ADHD. That means even if the child has mild ADHD and could do without Ritalin, if he is treated medically, you might see an improvement in his ODD.

Once the other problems are under control, the best treatment for ODD is parent training. In a study published in 1998, eighty-two research studies were evaluated were examined for efficacy. Approaches focusing on parent training were the most affective techniques.

The main point is that some parent-training program is essential in addressing ODD. This is not going to work for everyone, but it is the best treatment that we have available for ODD.

Advice to Parents

That is with regard to your child. If your child has ODD you need to take care of yourself, also. No child needs a martyr as a parent.

Here are some of the things you can do:

Maintain interests other than your child with ODD. You have to be a person.
Try to work with and obtain support from the other adults (teachers, coaches, and spouse) dealing with your child.
Take time to work on your relationship with your spouse. Raising these children is very difficult and can put a strain on the best of marriages.
Manage your own stress with exercise and relaxation.
Take frequent vacations. This is a must.

Conclusion

It is tough to live with children who have ODD. What is worse is that there does not seem to be any cure. However, if you make sure that your child has his other problems addressed and you improve your parenting skills by enrolling in a parent training program, you can do a great deal to improve your child’s condition and your own.

How To Effectively Eat For A Healthy Heart

Heart disease is one or the wests biggest killers but there are simple steps you can take to minimize your risk. By making the decision to eat for a healthy heart, you can eliminate many of the causes of heart disease as well as other health conditions.

There are three main health conditions that contribute to heart disease. These are high blood pressure, high levels of cholesterol and being overweight. Others include smoking and lack of exercise. By adopting a healthy eating regime, you can reduce the effect of the three main factors. Giving up smoking and taking more exercise is a subject for another article.

So how can we reduce cholesterol?

The biggest dietary cause of high cholesterol is saturated fats. This is found in meat, milk, butter, cheese, eggs and many processed foods. When shopping for food make sure to check the levels of saturated fat and only choose foods with a low level. Unlike Saturated fat, monounsaturated fats such as olive oil will help you to protect your heart. Olive oil is an ideal choice for cooking, dressing, or even as a dipping sauce.

Another food product that helps reduce cholesterol is omega-3. Omega-3 is a fatty acid that is noted to have many health benefits besides helping to reduce cholesterol. You can get good amounts of omega-3 from herring, sardines, salmon, walnuts and flaxseed.

To complete your battle with cholesterol, you need to make sure you eat plenty of fiber rich foods. Fiber is thought to work by causing the excretion of some of the bile in the intestines. The process used by the body to make up for the lose of bile effectively removes some of the cholesterol in the blood stream. Good sources of fiber include whole grains, including breads, cereals, pastas and rice, nuts and seeds, peas beans, lentils, fruits and vegetables, especially broccoli and carrots.

Now lets have a look at blood pressure.

The main dietary cause of high blood pressure is salt. Most foods contain natural levels of salt and processed foods also often contain high levels of salt. The simplest way to tackle high blood pressure is to stop adding salt when cooking or as a condiment to your meal.

Also, try to eat plenty of potassium rich foods. Potassium can help to reverse th
1000
e effects of the salt you eat and has a direct effect in lowering your blood pressure. Good sources of potassium include bananas, beans, potatoes, spinach and raisins.

Finally the thorny subject of your weight.

If you are overweight, you should try to stick to a diet that helps you to lose weight. Don’t aim to lose weight quickly, make it a medium term goal. This is more likely to be successful and once your target weight is reached, you will be more likely to stay there.

The main healthy eating action to help with weight loss is to cut out sugar and foods containing excessive amounts of sugar. Eating sugar quickly raises the sugar levels in your blood. To cope with this your body stores the excess energy from the sugar in your blood as fat cells. This then reduces the sudden surge in blood sugar levels back to a normal blood sugar level.

You don’t have to make a sudden change to healthy eating. Take your time. Try gradually including foods that help your body reduce the risk of heart disease. Not forgetting to cut out those that are harmful to your health. By eating healthy food, you will not only be protecting your heart, you will enjoy better all round health.

In 1976, 413 high school runners in Finland competed in a 2000-meter race. At the time of the race and in a follow-up study twenty-five years later, the faster runners had much lower blood pressures than the slower ones (International Journal of Sports Medicine, July-August 2005.)

The researchers wanted to know whether a maximal endurance test to measure aerobic fitness in adolescence would predict hypertension in adults. This is the first study to show that faster teen age runners have lower blood pressures and that the lower blood pressures persist long after they stop running. In their teens, the faster runners were more fit than the slower runners, and their dedication may have persisted into later life; or the faster teen-age runners may have had some physiological advantage that kept their blood pressure lower and made them less likely to suffer heart attacks in later life. Either the faster runners were genetically superior to the slower runners, or something in their lifestyles made them faster as teenagers and also caused them to have lower blood pressures throughout their lives. Either way, the findings of this study should encourage early participation in sports and lifelong exercise habits.

Sometimes doctors mistake a large, strong healthy heart caused by vigorous exercise with the large, weak, sick heart of cardiomyopathy. A report from University College London Hospitals describes the case of a professional athlete who was prohibited from playing football because doctors didn’t order the right tests (European Journal of Echocardiology, August 2005).

In cardiomyopathy, the enlargement is caused by the heart’s inability to pump blood through the body at rest because of poor pumping power and inability to fill adequately with blood. A person with this condition can die during exercise. On the other hand, people who exercise vigorously over many years can develop a very large muscular heart which is stronger than normal and far less likely to suffer any disease. If this patient had an echocardiogram and treadmill exercise tests read by a physician experienced with athletes, he would not have been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy.

A Detailed Guide To Making A Homemade Diet Pill
by: Mike West

Most people don’t take the time to research what ingredients they are putting in their bodies by taking a diet pill. My advice to anyone considering a diet pill is to “READ THE LABEL!!!” Time and time again, I hear from clients who have had adverse effects because of an allergy or sensitivity to the ingredients in the diet supplement. Lucky for you, I do read the labels and I have been researching the ingredients in diet pills for years.

The purpose of this article is simple- It’s a guide that will help you make your own diet pill. I would like to say, however, that as with anything that you put in your body, precautions should be taken. Please consult with you doctor before taking any medication, vitamin, or supplement. This article should not be taken as medical advice and does not, in any way, substitute for the opinion of a medical profession including your doctor.

When you take a very close look at the ingredients in most diet pills you will see that the individual ingredients are very common vitamin supplements. Diet pills costing $50 or more a bottle can be made at home for a fraction of the price.

Let’s get down to business and discuss what these ingredients are because they are exactly what you will need to begin making your own diet pill. Let’s take, for example the very popular, Leptoprin, often sold online for over $150.00 per bottle.

Here is a list of ingredients as printed on a bottle of Leptoprin:

Calcium – Makes weight loss more efficient by breaking down fat in cells.

Vitamin B6 – Helps maintain blood sugar.

Acetylsalicylic Acid (Aspirin) – Prolongs thermogenic (fat burning) effects and increases metabolism.

Caffeine – Increases thermogenesis and triggers adrenaline flow.

Green Tea – Increases fat oxidation and raises metabolism.

L-Tyrosine – Raises the metabolic rate.

Kelp – Metabolizes excess fat.

Ephedrine – A Stimulant and Appetite Suppressant.

Cayenne – Contains ‘capsaicin’ which is considered a thermogenic substance.

THAT’S IT! Here’s the actual Label (http://www.diet-pill-review.com/leptoprin-label.pdf) if you don’t believe me.

Now you’re saying, wait, “I’ve seen most of those ingredients at the vitamin / grocery store. You’re right; you can get these ingredients in just about any pharmacy or vitamin store.

I should make it clear that I am not advising you to go out and buy all of these ingredients, nor am I telling you to take these pills all together. I’m suggesting that with regular exercise, a balanced diet, and vitamins as a supplement it is possible to lose weight without spending unnecessary money on diet pills (http://www.diet-pill-review.com/leptoprin-label.pdf).

Your blood pressure numbers are one of the most important indicators of your bodies cardiovascular health. By monitoring your blood pressure, doctors can learn if you are at risk for a variety of problems from hardening of the arteries, to heart disease, Kidney problems or stroke. BP numbers are a good early indicator or potential problems and once you have been diagnosed with hypertension you will be able to get control of it and prevent larger problems from developing later.

BP numbers are divided into four levels, normal, pre-hypertension, stage one, and stage two hypertension. Here’s a look at them in more detail:

Normal – less than 120/ less than 80: If your blood pressure is lower than 120 (systolic) over 80 (diastolic) then it is considered normal. This doesn’t mean that you are in the clear though. BP numbers can vary throughout the course of a day, to get a true picture you should have several readings at different times to see where your average lies. Even at this stage, a healthy diet and exercise can help your numbers from going up. If you currently have a healthy lifestyle you should be fine, but if you have low numbers in spite of a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle you should pay close attention to any changes that may indicate that poor health habits are catching up to you.

Pre-hypertension – 120-139 / 80-99: Catching your numbers when they hit this range is a real bonus. You are not in a high risk category, and you can probably do a lot to help your self through diet and lifestyle changes alone. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables. If you choose to use alcohol, tobacco, or caffeine, do so in moderation, and implement a regular daily exercise program into your life. Pre-hypertension is a wake-up notice, the changes you make at this stage will determine a great deal of your future options.

Stage one hypertension – 140-159 / 90-99: Stage one hypertension is serious but probably still treatable. Your doctor may prescribe medicine to help manage your blood pressure at this point, but the way you choose to live your life can still have a big impact on how much of an effect hypertension will have on you.

Stage two hypertension – Higher than 160 / higher than 100: You are in trouble at this point and you need help immediately. At this stage your doctor will most likely prescribe one or more medications to immediately control your hypertension and will simultaneously prescribe a strict diet which may include salt restrictions, no caffeine, or alcohol, and more fruits and veggies than what you are used to. Depending on your overall health they may also put you on an exercise routine. If you have been leading a sedentary life with a poor diet this may all be tough to handle. Do it anyway. You life depends on your ability to get healthy again.

It is possible to control your blood pressure without having to be on expensive potentially harmful medication for the rest of your life. Start by living healthier today and you will see the effects in the years to come. Click here now for more information on how to control your blood pressure numbers and live a healthy drug free lifestyle.

5 Initial Signs Of Pregnancy

Have you been planning for a baby for a while now? Do you think you might already have a tiny little seed of life in you? Well then, it is time to know what the initial signs of pregnancy are, so you can more or less judge whether or not you might be pregnant at this very moment!

We are listing out below certain very common and obvious signs of pregnancy, which can occur as early as a week into your pregnancy. Take a look at these, so that you understand to differentiate them from other everyday symptoms.

1. Missed period

The most important sign of pregnancy is a missed period. Of course, it could also happen due to some transient hormonal fluctuation in the body or due to some kind of stress. If that is the case, your normal period would occur within the next 10 days of its expected due date. If that does not happen either, then you should think of a possible pregnancy.

2. Light spotting

The zygote trying to get a life within you can be very industrious and persistent in its efforts! Though microscopic yet, it has the sheer grit to survive and live inside you for the next nine months. So it does everything in its power to gnaw its way into your endometrial lining. This fight to lodge itself safely inside you can result in slight spotting or bleeding in you. Remember, this is not your regular menstrual bleeding, so it will also be different in color. This event usually also occurs round about the same time of your expected period. If your bleeding this month has been too light, visit your doctor to ascertain if you are truly pregnant.

3. Dizziness

You might have heard of pregnant women having regular fainting spells, earlier on into their pregnancy. Why does this happen? The increased pressure that the uterus puts on your entire system leads to a compression in the arteries in your legs. This leads to a steep fall in the blood pressure, which gives rise to dizziness and / or fainting. This is temporary and seems to come in sudden spells, when you least expect it!

4. Frequent urination

The uterus starts expanding soon after conception, so as to make space for the little one. This puts pressure on the bladder, making you want to use the washroom more often. If you have been getting an unexplained urge to answer n
1000
ature’s call too often, then you could possibly think of pregnancy.

5. heartburn

Many women experience severe heartburn early into their pregnancy, a condition that they never ever experienced before. How are heartburn and pregnancy related? Well, the expanding uterus also puts pressure upwards on the heart. Further, the increasing levels of the HCG hormone inside you hamper the normal process of digestion. This gives rise to stomach acids accumulating in you, which in turn give rise to acidity and heartburn.

The above-mentioned signs of pregnancy very closely mimic normal everyday symptoms. If these signs carry on for longer than just a couple of days, you should think of a possible pregnancy and visit your doctor immediately.

Causes Of Leukemia

Leukemia causes are still unknown. In present, medical science isn’t able to establish the specific leukemia causes. However, a strong connection between certain genetic factors and the development of the disease has been revealed. Leukemia occurs on the background of genetic failure that causes the excessive production of incomplete, partially matured blood cells. Also, leukemia has a hereditary character, allowing the transmission of genetic predispositions to disease from one generation to another. Although many factors are known to contribute to the development of leukemia, they alone can’t be considered leukemia causes.

The cause of acute leukemia is unknown. The only thing that one can say for certain is that some people are at a higher risk of getting the disease than others. People who are exposed to radiations or certain chemicals have the highest chance of contracting the disease. In addition, there is the hereditary factor. It has been seen that children receive the defective gene from their mother and this gene may lead to acute leukemia. People who have leukemia tend to bruise easily or bleed easily from the nose and gums. In addition to weak immune system, there is a general feeling of fatigue and unexplained weight loss. The disease by itself does not have any specific symptoms.

In normal condition, these stem cells develop either into red blood cells, white blood cells or platelets, into a controlled way. Leukemia perturbs the normal development of blood cells and causes the accumulation of partially developed cells, that aren’t able to fulfill their role inside the organism. Judging by the speed of development and the persistence of the disorder, there are two types of leukemia: acute leukemia and chronic leukemia. Acute leukemia differs from chronic leukemia by the levels that stem cells are able to reach in their development (stem cells that present anomalies still manage to partially develop and either resemble immature cells or complete, normal white blood cells).

Leukemia is a bone marrow disorder that arises when one abnormal white blood cell begins to continuously replicate itself. Leukemia, which literally means “white blood” in Greek, occurs when there is an excess of abnormal white blood cells in the blood. The disease usually starts in the white blood cells. The blood-forming (hematopo
1000
ietic) cells of the bone marrow make leukocytes to defend the body against infectious organisms, such as viruses and bacteria. If the cells reach the central nervous system and build up in the cerebrospinal fluid that support s the brain and spinal column, they can cause headaches and seizures.

Chances of survival are better with the combination of ATRA and hemotherapy than chemotherapy alone. This is because ATRA combined with chemotherapy accounts for a slightly higher rate of complete remissions while allowing significantly fewer relapses.
