The Department of Nursing invites applicants for full and part-time ranked positions for the 2012-2013 academic year and adjunct clinical teaching positions. Responsibilities for ranked positions in all programs: Teaching students in the classroom and clinical settings, and engaging in scholarship and service per University guidelines.

Requirements: Graduate degree in nursing, teaching experience, and eligibility for RN licensure in the State of Minnesota for all programs. PhD or DNP required for graduate nursing programs. Certification as a nurse practitioner is required for NP positions. Experience in higher education and recent clinical experience are preferred. Department Management

• Convene full Education Department Meetings.

Program and Curriculum Development

• Supports Program Directors in their responsibilities to
• Establishes, monitors and oversees revision of:
• long and short range goals of department/program
• the curriculum
• course descriptions
• policies and procedures used to evaluate student performance
• processes of assessment and program evaluation in collaboration with university assessment committee
• statements of the outcomes of instruction

Program Assessment/Evaluation, Accreditation and Approval

• Serve as Chief Institutional Representative (e.g., Initial Licensure – MACTE, AACTE, AILACTE, Title II).
• Submit required state, national and federal reporting requirements (e.g., Title II, PEDS, MCTQM).
• Attend meetings and conferences (e.g., MACTE Meeting and Congress-three times per year, AACTE/AILACTE Annual Conferences).
• Coordinates accreditation and approval review processes (Montessori Credential Program – MACTE and AMS; Initial Licensure – Minnesota Board of Teaching Program Approval-PERCA; plans any future accreditation, i.e., Initial Licensure

• Assist Program Directors and Education faculty with the implementation and revision of Outcomes Based Assessment Plans (Initial Licensure, Montessori Credential and AM², Curriculum and Instruction, STEM Graduate Certificates, campus-based transformation as identified in the TC2 Milestone Report).

• Support Authorizer Liaison in activities associated with Authorizing Charter Schools.

Student Welfare

• Insures that the Program Directors and faculty respond to students’ instructional needs.
• Meets with students to address specific academic concerns and, when necessary, refers them to appropriate other institutional offices and services.
• Participates in activities related to student recruitment and orientation activities.
• Actively supports the student advising system.

Professional Development

• Confers with the dean to establish and review annual goals for performance and professional development.
• Participates in professional organizations and activities.
• Engages in scholarly activity.

Cooperation with Other Offices/Departments

• Communicates program needs to and works cooperatively with appropriate institutional departments and services.
• Cooperates with Development in seeking external funding to support departmental/university initiatives.
• Collaborates with directors of other academic programs on instructional and operational matters.
• Actively supports activities of Alumnae Office to maintain positive relationships with alumnae.

Qualifications:

Earned Doctorate in Education (or related area)

Record of scholarly activity

• Experience:

Rank of associate professor

3-5 years experience as a department chair or higher administrative role (e.g., associate dean)

3-5 years teaching experience in higher education (preferably in teacher education/preparation or closely related field)

3-5 years teaching experience in PK-12 settings lead (or participated in) approval (e.g., Minnesota Board of Teaching Program Approval for Licensure) and/or accreditation processes (e.g., Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Successful collaboration with schools and other organizations
