Unemployment continues to fall in Highlands County, but so do wages. "The Heartland region's average annual wage rate of $29,734 decreased overall by $35 from 2010 to 2011," said Heartland Workforce President Roger Hood. At the same time, the state average wage was $42,312, a $738 increase.
