By investing in the ship “MELK” First – DDSG Logistics Holding GmbH is thereby successfully operating two real low-water ships as well as the most powerful push boats on the Danube including its sister ship “YBBS”.

The hull of an vessel served as base for this project. The bottom was enhanced by a lot of floating tanks, allowing the floating dock to drop down. For docking a vessel, the floating tanks will be filled with water, so the dock will sink. After the required depth is reached, the ship will be pulled with winds into the dock. Then the floating tanks will be pumped out and so the dock will lift again and the vessel will come up as if staying in a dry dock.

The first test runs have been made and now the experiences out of this will be considered in the finalizing works.

Mr. Franz Dosch, fromer Human Resources manager, was given an impressive presentation of the founding of DDSG and the major milestones of the technical progress of DDSG and the inland navigation itself. A lot of historical pictures was given a great impression of the way of working on the river in the beginning of 18th century.

About the innovations made by DDSG in the recent past, Mr. Ralf Jina, the sales manager of First-DDSG Logistics Holding GmbH, was reporting and presenting imposing figures about increased convoy sizes, engine power, low water solutions and much more.

It was a special concern of our CEO, Mr. Dipl. Ing. Dr. Viatcheslav Vdovitchenko, to thank our veterans for their good work over the past years and hand over personally certificates.

We are looking back on an amicable event with many partners and friends on our side.
