The giant has spent twice the time to go from 500 00 to 1 Million just to get the first 500 00 downloads.

Does Facebook Home know some problems of adoption? A month after its publication, he finally reached the symbolic figure of one million downloads, reports our colleague CNET United States, citing the director of mobility as a source.

New target: 5 million. This could take time. It took ten days to reach Facebook Home 500,000 downloads and more than 20 days to double that number. This slowdown and average performance reflects the reception rather critical of Facebook Home.

Bugs and up-to-date

Many quite negative tests have been published since the release of the software, and Facebook Home does not add up to five of the 16 000 and some votes on the Google Play Store more than two stars. Many bugs have especially put off users. Facebook has released an update to day since, but this does not seem enough.

Especially since this one million downloads, it has no idea how many have deleted the application thereafter. Facebook should have an idea - he knows the rate of removal some time after the download, but not beyond.

Fifty channels are involved in a first time, according to the "Financial Times" ...

YouTube launched on Thursday a paid service "channels" of subscription, according to a message posted on Its official blog. "Starting today, we are launching a pilot program for a small group of partners who offer pay channels on YouTube with a subscription fee starting at $ 0.99 per month," says the message.

Each channel can be tested for free for 14 days, and some offer reduced when commitment to a full year rates. Among the content available at launch are listed reruns of full episodes of the show for children 1 Sesame Street or martial arts fighting in the UFC. YouTube and promises to expand its range of pay channels "in the coming weeks."

YouTube already offers since 2011 a series of thematic channels to which access is free. He said Thursday after more than a million. They were previously financed by advertising, but "one of the most frequent requests of their creators is to have more flexibility to monetize and distribute their content," says the site on his blog.

"More quality content"

Without confirming this turn, YouTube told the Financial Times that "aimed at creating a platform subscription could bring even more quality content (...) for the sake of (his) users and provide designers a new channel for revenue generation for their content, more models based on leasing and advertising. "

Google would have convinced the three main majors, according to "The Verge" ...

Fortune had already announced in early March: YouTube, owned by Google, planchait on a streaming music service, with the aim to compete directly with Spotify.

But for this, he had to agree with the majors. According to The Verge, this is now done. After an initial agreement with Warner Music in March, Google has signed two with Universal Music and Sony Music. What access catalogs of Bob Dylan, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Jay-Z, The Verge lists.

Two services

The agreement would cover two different music streaming services. That associated with YouTube, with two formulas, a free advertising-funded and pay that would free, but also a second associated with its Google Play platform.

The recent signing with Universal and Sony could be an opportunity for an ad with great fanfare on Tuesday at the Google I / O of the Mountain View firm conference. If this were to be confirmed, Google to take on the Apple, which is also working on its own streaming service. But the offers of the two Web giants would be different. Google's service would look like Spotify and propose streaming titles available from a computer and a mobile phone, while Apple's service nearer to online radio Pandora, says The Verge.

Nowadays, just buy any phone and run Android or Android apps on it. If Myriad has its way then it could be true for most mobile platforms.

Myriad has announced Alien Dalvik, which enables Android apps on non-Android phones, without any performance loss. A tall claim and Myriad has done this with Nokia N900, take a look on the video here. Support for other platforms will soon follow after its Mobile World Congress demo.

Android is on a rampage since its launch. The last thing it needs is a port like Alien Dalvik which lets other phones to run Android apps. This might not be a success story for Android but for its apps. Mobile app developers who are facing a dilemma of which platform to develop can breath easy now. Just develop it for Android and the rest will be taken care of by Alien Dalvik. In a perfect world that is.

Myriad will be releasing Dalvik for Meego to start with followed by support for other platforms. If you want to run the native native Android Google apps map to get the Gmail Priority Inbox on your iPhone, then you might have to wait. I am not sure how this will work out, but if Myriad is planning of an app for doing this, then Apple will reject it with impunity.

Soon or later we see the creative crafting technology of Smartphone from Nokia which comes with windows based mobiles or Smartphone concepts.

Hotmail was my first Email ID that I created about 14 years back. Back then, using email for communication itself was new and exciting. However, now email has become an integral part of one’s daily lives.

Hotmail was really hot back then and anyone and everyone on the internet sported hotmail email ID. Scenario has changed drastically in the last decade. After Hotmail came Yahoo and then youngest of all Gmail. However, as it stands today, Gmail is THE best web mail clients – thanks to their innovation every step of the way. I hardly see anyone using Hotmail IDs now!

Last few years have seen only one trend – Google innovated and implemented, while others followed. That gave Gmail the edge and everyone wanted to be associated to them.

Now, probably after a decade, it is for the first time that Hotmail seems to done a “First” – which other 2 cannot boast of having:

Throw- Away Email Accounts or Alias Email Accounts!

With Hotmail’s Alias accounts, it becomes super easy. Just create an alias and share that. All your mails including Aliases, will fall in the same mail box. Each user can create up to five aliases, any of which can be deleted and replaced with another at any time. Over time, Microsoft will increase that limit to 15 aliases per account, making it so that the true heavy users won’t need to juggle between two or more Hotmail accounts.

This is also a great feature for people who do not want to share their real email ID – Just give your alias email ID and your original will always remain safe and annonymous !!

There’s no debating that credit and debit cards are convenient, but typically the only places that you can use them are in businesses, or via the phone or internet. In 2009 the co-founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, set out to change that. He released a beta version of Square, a system that allowed mobile devices to receive card payments. A small card reader plugged into the device’s headphone port, and an app handled all the 1s and 0s. Two years later, Square is out of its debugging phase and available for general use.

The card reader is sent to users free of charge, and there are reportedly no activation, gateway, monthly, early termination or hidden fees, nor is a contract required to use the service. What there are are transaction fees – 2.75 percent + 15 cents for swiped transactions, and 3.5 percent + 15 cents for keyed-in transactions. These fees stay the same regardless of the amount of transaction, and are taken off as the transaction occurs, so no fee schedule is involved. The user pays nothing at all if they don’t use the service.

There is no limit on transaction amounts, and funds are automatically transferred into the user’s bank account after a 24-hour period. The system can also make refunds to buyers.

While Square accepts all major credit cards, the company does have a policy regarding what sort of products it will allow its service to be used to sell. The website states, “Our banks and the payment card networks have also determined that certain transactions, while legal, present high risk exposure to Square, our merchants and their customers,” adding that funds may be withheld from users caught violating that policy. The list of unacceptable transactions includes understandable things like illegal activity, drug paraphernalia and hate products, but also includes greyer areas such as raffles, adult entertainment and occult materials.

Square is compatible with iDevices and Android, but can currently only be used for purchases made within the United States.

Here Is The World's Oldest Facebook User

A 103-year-old grandmother is believed to be the world's oldest Facebook user. Lillian Lowe, from Tenby in Pembrokeshire, regularly keeps her online friends updated about her life using her iPad, and being signed up to the social network also enables her to keep track of what her seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren are up to.

Mrs Lowe, who is just two months away from her 104th birthday, took the oldest Facebook user title following the death of 104-year-old Ivy Bean in July. Despite some of the Facebook goings on that would shock many her age, Lillian says she isn't fazed by any of her grandchildren's "antics".
She said: "I have seen a few things over the years, so nothing really shocks me these days anyway."

Mrs Lowe, who logs on several times a week, uses her 47-year-old grandson Steve's iPad but is very keen to get her own. The retired hotelier and businesswoman says it's "just lovely" to be able to see all the latest photographs and messages from her large family. She said: "I can recommend it for any grandparents to keep in touch with their family without ringing all the time."

While saying her online habit is "exciting" the cyber centenarian also admitted that it can be a "dreadful waste of time".

She said: "I'm sure there are lots of other things I should be doing rather than playing on a computer."

The World's Cheapest Laptop From India

This is a dream coming true effort by Indian computer scientists for the society who were unable to hold their fingers on the laptops. Yes, now there is the world’s cheapest laptop developed at scientific institutes located in Veloru, Bangalore and Madras. This will surely boom the information technology movement in the vast countries like India and abroad.

India has developed and released it some days back with costing max to 10$ to 20$. That will be surely a butter bite for the IT enthusiasts. The laptop, jointly developed by University Grants Commission, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was released by honourable Union Minister for Human Resources Development. This product is in beta testing stage and will be available in markets by next 4-6 months. It is named as “SAKSHAT”.

The low priced computing device is 10 inches long and 5 inches wide hand-held device, resembling a palmtop or a modem, helps e-learners access the Web easily. Priced versions of e-content available on the Net can be accessed through this device. It comes with 2 GB of memory, which is expandable. It has Wi-Fi and fixed Ethernet capability and will consume just 2 watts of power. Thats really a plus point as it saves lot of power.

The so-called laptop actually turned out to be a storage device containing megabytes of data info which can be accessed by a user by connecting this device to a laptop. It meant that unlike the internet, this device can display that information that has already been stored.

It is a naked truth that high prices of Laptops have blocked the spread of computer and IT revolution to the large rural and student areas of India. So this is an initiative taken to solve this problem of high cost effect. Surely it will be a boon for Indian students who wish to have computers in their personal hand. It will be a crucial medium for “National Mission on Education through Information and Computer Technology”.

Salutes to the Indian scientists and student developers behind this great work.

According to reports, Apple iPad tablet is the best device for users to surf the Internet (except Flash format).

Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers at the moment. Unfortunately, because the limit of iPad to Javascript engine, it is difficult for Chrome to run directly on iPad.

People hope iPad can support Google cloud sync bookmarks, gesture control and some ChromeOS functions. Despite Apple application website provided access permission for Opera, but the influence of Opera is far from Chrome. So it is unknown whether Chrome can receive authentication. The following is the running rendering that Chrome runs in iPad.

Google Chrome In Ipad:

The Real Tab Browsing:

Tag browsing feature is almost no real manifestation in mobile portable devices. Only Opera can provide better Tab browsing.

Tab Function:

Chrome’s Speed Dial and Bookmarks feature can be fully reflected on iPad flat screen. The new functions that “add to the main dial-up interface” and “Add to bookmarks” can help users manage the common web pages easily.

iPad uses the operating system which is based on iPhoneOS, but ChromeOS is based on browser. The two features in common is more portable and practical. If we can open Chrome browser in iPad and then run ChromeOS to deal with things, it might be wonderful thing.

OLLIE Christie got the phone call this weekend that every app creator dreams of getting.

OLLIE Christie, a developer who runs an applications and game design company near Oxford England, was surprised with an email on his phone over the weekend that read “Mr. Christie, I’m with Apple in Cupertino, Can you call me? I have some good news to share”. After returning the phone call, he was told that his “Paper Glider” app was the App Store’s 10 billionth download, which earned the downloader, another British resident, a $10,000 iTunes Gift card.

Christie said he was initially quite excited because he thought the message from Apple meant he was the winning downloader, and he had been watching the digital counter on Apple’s website along with millions of Apple users around the world. He said he had just put his kids to bed when he checked his phone and after reading the message, “My heart was going pitter-patter.”

Gail Davis was the lucky winner of the $10,000 iTunes Gift card, after one of her teenage daughters downloaded Christies’ program. Davis first hung up on the caller notifying her of the win, because she assumed it was a prank call. Her daughters convinced her to call Apple and so she was eventually able to claim the prize.

Christie, whose career in copywriting, and online game development includes the “Bikini-Bounce” game, will not enjoy the $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, but he is already benefiting from a huge increase in the number of downloads because of the immense publicity Apple generated around its App store benchmark.

Davis says, "The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call. The girls were getting quite tense. They never would have forgiven me. They would have held it against me for all eternity."
Google and Twitter have launched a phone service that will let people in Egypt send out tweets, even though the country's Internet service has been effectively shut down.

Google worked with SayNow, which it recently acquired, to provide the service which it hopes Egyptians without internet access will take advantage of to stay connected.

Users simply need to call +16504194196, +1390662207294, or +97316199855 and leave a voicemail. It will automatically tweet the message and use the hashtag #egypt and an internet connection is not required. People can listen to the messages by going to twitter.com/speak2tweet.

While the service was put in place in order to help Egyptians trying to tweet amidst the protests, it's unclear if this service will remain in place in the future.

Toshiba today announced three new 1.8-inch hard drives. These are the industry’s first 1.8” drives with low-insertion force (LIF) SATA (Serial ATA) connectors, enabling a 10% smaller footprint compared to standard 1.8” drives using microSATA connectors.

These hard drives are developed for use in multiple devices, including tablets, consumer electronics devices and external HDDs, the new MKxx39GSL series offers three models, at 160GB (MK1639GSL), 200GB (MK2039GSL) and 220GB (MK2239GSL) capacities.

Features include 4200RPM spindle rate, 16MB buffer and 15ms average seek time.

The drives are capable of withstanding the demands of mobility usage, tolerating up to 1,500Gs of non-operational shock and 600Gs of operational shock, compared to 900G of non-operational shock and 400G of operational shock for the most robust 2.5-inch HDDs currently available.

What actually make this hard drive special is low power consumption, quiet operation and only 0.35-watts required to operate. It comes with 5- x 54- x 71mm size. Its official release date is February and the price is yet to be announced.

Shocking Toshiba Dynabook T551 15.6-inch 3D Notebook

Release date of Apple’s iPad 2 is gradually approaching nearer (there are even reports that the gadget may be announced by the end of January).

We know Apple is going to update its iPad with a new model sometime this year. Now word on internet has it Apple will unveil second generation iPad in April with some new, exciting features. The 2nd gen iPad tablet will be a thinner and sleeker tablet, with a new screen technology which is pretty similar to iPhone 4's Retina Display. The device will have a 10-inch "super high resolution" display.

The new iPad will also feature a dual GSM / CDMA chipset produced by Qualcomm.

Other features include front and rear facing camera, and a SD card slot.

Recently Skype and Facebook announced a large integration, however that integration appeared to be limited to the Skype desktop application.

Back in September it was reported that “Facebook users will be able to video chat with each other.” While this is theoretically possible via Skype already, it wouldn’t be surprising if those calls could take place directly from within Facebook.

AllFacebook is reporting that a Facebook app developer has discovered the existence of code hinting at Skype integration.

Apparently, Facebook is bucket testing this feature, which will be based on the Skype SDK.

Tal Alter, the developer who was the first to notice this, wrote in his blog, “The object, which is simply called VideoChat, appears to have everything needed to introduce video chatting functionality.” It is expected that once launched, Skype users will be able to receive and initiate video calls directly from Facebook.

After all, Facebook’s new messaging system is an attempt to make communication more seamless and synchronized across multiple platforms. It may very well be that video chat will be added to the mix or that Facebook is at least considering a Skype integration.

Iphone 5: The Next Generation Of Apple Products

iPhone 5 rumours are flying thick and fast already. Will there be a rush release to erase memories of the iPhone 4's antenna problems? Will the 5th generation iPhone deliver ultra-fast mobile internet? Will it ever end up on Verizon in the US?

Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone this summer, and new reports describe it as a "completely redesigned handset" as well as a "total rethink from a design standpoint."

To start, the iPhone 5's internals will be different - the device will run on a new, combined CDMA/GSM/UTMS chipset from Qualcomm, which will support both AT&T and Verizon in the U.S., as well as other carriers worldwide - perhaps even an expanded lineup, as would now be possible. Along with the iPad 2, this chipset change represents the transition away from Infineon as the iPhone and iPad chipset maker. Going forward, Qualcomm will make the chips for all Apple mobile devices.

The Apple company has acquired Swedish company, Polar Rose, known for its mobile face recognition technology FaceLib among other similar products.

If you're thinking about buying the iPhone 4, you'll be better off waiting for the iPhone 5 instead, as it should be coming out really soon this year.

Here are some of the expected features:

The new iPhone 5 is expected to have Face Recognition Security so that you don't have to worry about other people stealing your phone and trying to use it... That is, unless they steal your face too.

Video Chat on a 4G network instead of a slow 3G one
Much nicer overall body design of the phone. It's going to be even thinner and have a shiny black piece.

Shatter Resistant and Scratch Resistant Screen.

Built In GPS - You'll never get lost or have to download one of those <s>stupid </s>GPS apps.
