The idea and concept for the hit TV Series 24, which ran from 2001-2010, was actually conceived much earlier. A pilot was made in 1994 but was never aired. Somehow, Jack Bauer saving the world using faxes, payphones and AOL 3.0 (gasps!) didn't quite fit the mold for the movie. The producers wisely waited 7 years while technology caught up.
